In the blink of an eye the man had disappeared, leaving the boy laying in his uncle's arms......in a pool of blood......
"I so hate violence," the mage commented. "Ah....what to do......"
The vision Fai had earlier experienced, once again flashed through his mind....
The ninja's arms around him.....saving him......holding him......
although not really him.......but him nonetheless............somewhere....
He looked to the pair, huddled on the floor, and his eyes softened.
Placing his wand onto the floor, he went to kneel in front of them.
Ignoring the anger and suspicion coming from the large man, the wizard gently pulled the boy from his grasp and lay him flat on the floor.
quickly......
for his time is nearly up.......
The ninja made to grab him, "Now, now, I'm his only hope, and time is running out. You'll just have to trust me."
Fai closed his eyes, placing his hands over the boy, who now lay still.......
His hands began to glow over the wound, and the white light grew until it was reflected throughout the domed room, bouncing off the water and dancing like crystals over their bodies......
Moments passed, the wizard looked up and smiled a tired smile at the ninja.
"He'll be fine now, I think." He sighed thoughtfully at the man, who was struggling to keep his own eyes open. "As for you......." He began, then reached into the pocket of his cloak, pulling out a small vial of clear liquid.
He stopped momentarily.....eyes far away, as if remembering......the vision
The wizard then put the liquid up to his lips, pouring the smallest few drops into his mouth, and before the ninja could protest, leaned in and pressed his lips firmly against the other man's, knowing he would be smart enough not to push him away.
"The antidote...." Fai laughed softly, breaking away. "You'll be fine now too."
