Thank you! I was stuck in my thinking on "ijiwaruna michi," and couldn't think of what else it could mean. That is excellent. "Kazoekiremasu" wasn't in my dictionary all together ( compound verb?) and seperately it was like "count" and "disconnect" which didn't make any sense....like me right now...

My biggest issue with the translation was, as you said, it seems a little too revealing. It sounds more like a fanfic than a Clamp creation. Anyone else with some skill in Japanese (or a really big dictionary) feel free to hack away at this thing. More than anything else, I just want to know the true meaning of the song!

me and a friend were attempting to translate Kizuna. we got as far as the first word...
we think it means
'Don't forget' or 'I won't forget'... something about not forgetting

lol... and thats how far we got! and we don't even know if its right! ^^;

First line of Kizuna I understand without a dictionary: "Don't forget, I'll protect your smile."
Tehe. It's like my grammar teacher from Korea said, "When you learn a language through soap operas, you pick up the weirdest phrases. When I first learned English, I couldn't order a coke, but I could say 'Don't take my baby!'"

P.S. The title is something like "Connection" or "Bond."

Here is the next verse of Smile. I went with a literal translation, as I am having trouble putting some of it together to make sense.

mune no naka de sodateta takusan no kagayaki ha
   *Within my chest, growing many splendors
asai yume ni mou okosarete karechatta ne
   *Another dream , wake, wither
todokanai koe
   *doesn't reach, voice

Alright! This has made me determined to decode the meaning of both songs

...I'll try to gather up my courage and ask the japanese girls in my school to translate it for us if that's ok

...This is the least I can do while we wait for the last drama CD... Um... first I'll need the whole romanized or kanji of smile... I know that kizuna is somewhere here...

I think this line goes along with the 2nd line: In my dreams, Hey, hold me, I'm broken

And so that line would be like:
From this shallow dream, Please wake me, it's dying

Yeah, I was trying to look at it earlier today. ^^;; I think you got that second line right. And those are probably my favorite two lines.

The feeling I got from those two lines about the voice was something like,

Even though my voice doesn't reach, I still sing to you.
or to go with what you just said about waking from a dream, maybe *kimi*'s voice doesn't reach him(Fai) in his dream, so he is still singing out for the help mentioned in the second chorus. Hmmm, muzukashii!

Yeah, I love that second line in the song. I had no idea of the lyrics when I sat down to translate, and when I came up with that...

It's just so Fai, if he would be honest about it; it reminds me a little of what he told Kuro in Clover, about waiting for someone to take him away. I think that may be the only time he's been really honest in the whole series.
Ah, KuroxFai-ness... I digress...

No one has actually come out and said it, but do we all agree that "kimi" is ... you know, it is difficult to say, isn't it? Ok, personally, I think "kimi" is

Yeah I guess we all agree that 'kimi' is...you know who... (haha..not Voldemort from Harry Potter!).. Unless of course someone is against the pairing (I don't usually support yaoi since I'm uncomfortable with it but I got used to it so in certain circumstances I support the pairing besides CLAMP seems like obsessed with it...hehehe....)
