Which is better? Japanese or English?

Konata Izumi:
I'll go with the Japanese Translation.... Animax had it's own english translation, but although I applaud them for not editing the episodes like Nelvana did (>.<), their dubbing stinks. :P So I'll stick with the original Japanese dub... At least they sound cute XD

Dayanira:
OMG... i finally managed to watch some eng-dub episodes! Well... THAT WAS FUN! I laughed pretty hard ^^.
Of course it is horrible if people never watch the original version and form their impression by only the dub, but the dub is not that bad... as i said that was fun!
Sakura sounds so... bratty, Tomoyo... Kero... finally YUKITO! Omg... HE sounds like some pimple-faced teenage looser!

But what just KILLS me is their names... How on Earth did the creators come up with such creepy names?

Glad you found the dubs funny.   ^_^     And I don't know how Nelvana came up with such weird names that they thought were beneficial to kids who never heard Japanese names before.  Some were pretty easy to understand why but others were just plain silly!   :keke:

The bolded names are the ones that seem closer to their original names which is where, I believe, Nelvana thought of those names from.  This is excluding the names that were left un-touched, a bit altered, or cut into half.

Sakura Kinomoto ---> Sakura Avalon
Touya Kinomoto ----> Tori Avalon
Fujitaka Kinomoto ----> Aiden Avalon
Nadeshiko Kinomoto ----> Natasha Avalon
Masaki Amamiya ----> Never appeared in CC
Tomoyo Daidouji ----> Madison Taylor  (Just because Tomoyo loved making costumes that Nelvana thought Madison Ave. in NYC and clothing store, Lord & Taylor, would fit together just nicely!!  O___o)
Yukito Tsukishiro ----> Julian Star (Just out of curiosity.....Why "Star" as his last name!?  "Moon" would've fit him better! :lol:)
Kero-chan/Cerberus ----> Kero/Cerberus
Syaoran Li ----> Showron Li  (Based on how his name is pronounced in the anime which sounds like "Shaoran".)
Meiling Li ----> Meilin Li
Rika Sasaki ----> Rita
Naoko Yanagisawa ----> Nikki (And to think, this was the "rumored" dub name for Sakura!  :rotfl:)
Chiharu Mihara ----> Chelsea
Takashi Yamazaki ----> Zachary
Yoshiyuki Terada ----> Mr. Terata
Kaho Mizuki ---->  Layla Mackenzie  (>_> Very Americanish name.)
Clow Reed ----> Clow Reed
Yue ----> Yue
Suppi/Spinel Sun ----> Spinner/Spinel (Hahahahhah!!  Spinner~!  It's just sounds so......wrong.  Poor Suppi-chan!)
Eriol Hiiragazawa ----> Eli    (Sounds very mystical....)
Nakuru Akizuki/Ruby Moon ----> Ruby/Ruby Moon  (And the most obvoius name of all!)

Arcademan:
And I just had to add this bit from the Crapcaptors dub...the name of the town was changed from Tomoeda to "Reedington?!!  :dontknow:

Also Eriol's full name was changed to Eli Moon  :dodge:

Takeru:
Eli doesn't sound too bad, in fact Eriol can be mispronounced in English as Arial, which is a girl's name. XD

But Moon, Star, Avalon... what simple and cliche magical surnames. And Rika = Rita? Really, is the name change even needed? Rika's a perfectly American name.
