CLAMP's Famous Works > Cardcaptor Sakura

Which is better? Japanese or English?

Angela:
I don't think any dub could be called a straight dub but the aussie version was about as straight as it's gonna get. As far as I can tell nothing was cut but some dialogue was changed. I'll be able to make a better comparison when I see more of the Japanese version.

Cardcaptor Takato:

We had all 70 episodes dubbed so it's a lot better than the American version although the voices are still the same as the American version. All the episodes were dubbed so I wonder why they didn't show them all in America?

I may change my mind though as I've ordered the Japanese version and can't wait to watch it.

Because Kid's WB wanted the show to focus more on the action aspects of CCS in order to make another Pokemon clone.  Kid's WB skipped the first seven episodes because they weren't action-packed enough and they were also centered around Sakura, but Kid's WB wanted the show to be more about Li.  So, all the other episodes that didn't have a lot of action scenes in them or were about Sakura were either skipped or combined.

Angela:
Thanks for that. Although I can't see how they made the Pokemon comparison. Pokemon's totally different. And trying to change the main character is a really bad idea.

Hikari B.:
Pokemon's okay. For me that is since I'm such a Pokemon fanatic. XP

It's Cardcaptors that gets me ticked off. The voices of dubbed really bother me...

Arcademan:
The 'Pokemon Clone' reference made was their attempt to make Cardcaptors the 'NEXT BIG TOY CRAZE!' like the Pokemon cards and toys. Alas, it fell flat on its face and all fingers point toward Nelvana and Kids WB for attempting to market it the way they did.
