Topic: Overlooked Clamp Couples Appreciation (Read 27381 times)

I've decided to start this thread to give a little space to the most underappreciated Clamps couples around. Clamp has been responsible for so many great characters and couples, it'd be a shame to not give them a little attention. Post couples of any gender combination, as long as the couple is at least somewhat canon or they could become canon. Beware spoilers aplenty.

Starting off...

Gingetsu/Ran from Clover- Such a sweet couple, with such an angsty story. I wish they would be able to spend more time together. (Actually, I read a fantastic fanfic where they were reincarnations of Seishirou and Subaru: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2566485/1/) They're one of the more popular couples from Clover, but Clover isn't the most popular of Clamp's series, so they count. Saya/Touru from X- A slightly disturbing (well, maybe more than slightly disturbing... this is X, after all) but beautiful relationship. They don't have a fanlisting, sadly. They were separated by destiny and their own choices. I always thought it was so sad that they probably never had a chance to make love.

Tomoaki/Kizu from Suki, Dakara Suki- A porn/children's writer and his bodyguard as lovers. Only Clamp could come up with these two. Unfortunately there's so little fanfiction on them; there's not even a fanlisting for them.

Takeshi/Kentarou from all three Clamp Academy series- These two have been best friends for years, and work well together, attending school together at Clamp Academy. However, Kentarou's dream, much to Takeshi's embarrassment, is to become Takeshi's bride and wife. And Kentarou (aka Ken-pi) lets everyone, from their classmates in high school to Student Council President of the Elementary Division Nokoru Imonoyama, know about his undying love for his Take-pon. 'Take-pon' does not take to this very well, unfortunately. But you know that Take-pon really does love his Ken-pi, and they'll get together one of these days. They seem like a combination of Sorata/Arashi and Kuro/Fai. Unfortunately they don't have a fanlisting either, though there is more fanfiction for them that for Saya/Touru and Tomoaki/Kizu. Ah! I LOVED Saya/Tooru!!!! Their story almost made me cry!!!

Here's another underappreciated couple: Kakyou/Hokuto! They may look a little odd together, but anyone who has seen the X OVA or Kakyou's background story in the manga would KNOW he loved her!

I think that they're underappreciated because for some reason, a lot of people STILL don't know what Tokyo Babylon is (even some X fans) and thus they may not know/care who Hokuto is since she was only in for a few pages of X. Also, a lot of people seem to like to pair Kakyou with Fuuma, so Hokuto-chan is overlooked. XD

Yes, Hokuto is totally overlooked by X fans who haven't read Tokyo Babylon, which is sad because she is, in and of herself, such a vibrant, wonderful character, and such a powerful part of who and what Subaru is and was; without Hokuto, who knows what Subaru's life would have been?The little bits we see of her in "X" don't nearly capture her character.

Ha ha, this is such a cool topic...

Is it just me, or does no one care about Kotori anymore either? She stole Kamui's heart first, but the fans tend to focus on the FuumaxKamui... *sigh*

I honestly don't know why so many doesn't like Kotori! I think she's cute, and Kamui's cute too so why not! CUUUUTE~!

Kusanagi-san and Yuzuriha-chan from X is quite interesting too... Big guy, small girl...

Er, Kamui/Kotori is underappreciated. It's very sweet. Most people don't focus on that because Kotori is dead, so obviously Kamui/Kotori won't be happening, whereas Fuuma/Kamui could.

And I think I'll add Kakei/Saiga from Legal Drug to the list. They are awesome and wonderful together, and the vast majority of fans focus on Kazahaya/Rikuo. Kakei/Saiga do have a fanlisting, though: http://fan.akitsu.nu/kxs/

Ooh! I've never read any of the CLAMP Academy books so I've never heard about them before, but when I saw them in TRC I knew something was going on there! *praises self*

My favourite underappreciated couple is probably Yamazaki/Chiharu. They just have one of those wonderful comedic relationships, where you can tell they love eachother, despite the violence. ^^;

Yamazaki + Chiharu = Love.

And I congratulate you on noting Takeshi/Kentarou. (spoiler alert) At the end of Duklyon, they aren't -technically- together, but after they graduate, Takeshi (who comes from a poor family) becomes Kentarou's (who comes from a very rich family that owns a large corporation) secretary. It's so funny and sweet.

hey, what about Terada-sensei/Rika? I love this couple.

a lot of my friends says they don't like this couple because of their age.

I don't mind about that but they look too sweet each other.

I like Kakyou/Hokuto, Kamui/Kotori, Kusanagi/Yuzuriha, Yamazaki/Chiharu and other couple I don't really remember.

EDIT: I just remember this couple, Zima/Dita from Chobits. they look cool each other.

I love Syaoran and Sakura, but I also appreciate Syaoran with Meiling (once she changed in the movie at least), and Eriol with Sakura. Even Syaoran suspected that Eriol was in love with her. I don't think a lot of the CardCaptors Sakura fans are crazy about those pairings, but I am. I love triangles! I love the SyaoranxSakuraxEriol triangle! <333

How about Yuko and Kurogane. Remember....Yuko gave Kurogane chocolate and expecting him to give her answer in the white valentine.

Terada/Rika = Creepy as all get-out. Lolicon. (shudder) I am not a big fan of that pairing. But it isn't very popular, true.
Zima/Dita = awesome. Very underrated.
Kurogane/Yuuko ... ... = ... ... weird. Really bad images. Really bad. Not really canon, but very weird. And a quick note: Yuuko gave chocolate to everyone- Fai, Syaoran, and Sakura included. It wasn't just Kurogane.

not sure if they're all that much underappriciated, But Yuki and Toya are very cute, both in CCS, and Tsubasa so far

Sonomi and Nadeshiko from ccs, Tomoyo's mother and Sakura's mother. Sonomi's undying love for Nadeshiko even though she never knew is very sweet.

No, Yuki/Touya would not count as underappreciated by me. I guess Sonomi/Nadeshiko could qualify.

What about Kohaku x Shuichiro from Wish? I think it's cute how Kohaku always wants to help Shuichiro but he always ends up helping her because she's so clumsy and they're just such a cute couple.

I love this couple too! Their relationship is ever so slightly creepy, but you just feel like they are perfect for eachother!

Is this just me, or does anyone else think that Yuuko and Tomoyo are really suited for eachother?

Poor Kuro if they got together though. It would be a Kurogane mock-fest!

I'm glad I'm not the only one creeped out by Terada-sensei/Rika. For goodness sake, she's an elementary student.

But yes... Dita and Zima definitely go near the top of my favorite CLAMP couples list. They were too awesome, and really the only reason I kept reading Chobits. <_< Sai and Kaede in Angelic Layer were cute, too, and very underappreciated. I don't know what their relationship was like in the manga, as I've only seen the anime.

I'm also becoming interested in Yuuko/Clow... and wondering if CLAMP is going to give us more about those two. I think they would have quite an interesting competitive type of relationship.

EDIT: Gah, and Kakei/Saiga, of course!!! I adore those two. It's so sweet to see an already-established couple in love without any angst or drama, etc. ^^ CLAMP doesn't have a whole lot of those....
