Apparently, Japanese Government is planning to censor some of the anime listed below:

1. Kyoko
2. Kaitou Jeanne
3. Sailor Moon
4. One Piece
5. Meteor Garden
6. Fruits Basket
7. Hunter x Hunter
8. NANA
9. D.N.Angel
10. Gundam
11. Inuyasha
12. To Heart
13. Yu-Gi-Oh
14. Tokyo Mew Mew
15. Saiyuki
16. Ranma 1/2
17. Prince of Tennis
18. Detective Conan
19. Utena
20. X
21. Fushigi Yuugi
22. Black Cat
23. Tenchi Muyo
24. Rekka no Flame (?)
25. Keroro

There are more that the government in Japan is gonna censor because of the violent and/or sexual content in these anime/manga
The website that talks about this is here:
http://jipo.kir.jp/toha/rist1.htm

AND... The owner of that website is collecting a list of votes of whether the people want these stories to be censored.

Apparently, 11026 People already voted YES for censorship

I'm not sure which to choose, so if anyone knows how to read Japanese, please tell the fellow anime/manga lovers how to vote yes/no:

The news got onto a Hong Kong forum on 2/1/06, so it's pretty recent. But some of you may have already known this and posted on the forum about this somewhere (I think), but the votes do matter as to whether or not we will ever be able to watch heartfelt anime/manga again

http://jipo.kir.jp/   <-The page where you vote

I really hope they don't censor some of these anime/manga because they are very heartfelt, but then I don't want to be responsible for damaging innocent souls of little kids who are tainted by violent/sexual content... So I'm in a dilemma myself.

There might be a possibility that this is just a joke, but I'm not good at distinguishing genuine value of an article

Well, shouldn't they just raise the ratings of them?  I mean, we don't censor R rated movies, but we don't allow little kids in...

That's a little upsetting.

Hm.. well I never thought that they would censor anime in Japan. I always have heard that censoring isn't a big deal for them. While over here in the US it is.

Well, that's why you participate in vote. I would if I know how to read Hirakana.
Oddly enough, if they're out to get all "racy" anime/manga, why do they include Fruits Basket? It's not that explicit...

but they shouldn't have to do that, the reason why they are good in Japan is because they are UNcensored, and flipping the channel should shouldn't have anything to do with the fact if it's rated so much, they shouldn't watch it. It's not the show's fault, It's the person watching. If they still want to do that, PUT IT STRAIGHT TO DVD. don't let it be cut and let it be bought KNOWING it's rating so it can't be blamed at all, if anything the store selling would be blamed.

I doubt any of those shows are going to be changed anyway.

ooopppsss. Other forum said that the above news is a fake.  Need to check other sources to clear this out.

Its strange becuase in japan porn is legal so sexual and violence is not an issue there.

Really? It's fake, but what's with the current and past year's stat on the vote?
So other forums have already known about this, then? May you be able to tell me which ones? Thanks

Hira-san  i search the topic ( web address of the above jap site ) using google and end up some chinese forum also discussing this issue.

For me i feel strange because if the news is true and reliable, ANN should already post it already in their site.

I don't think this is real, but I don't know Japanese, so I can't read those sites.  However, I agree that if this was true, ANN would have reported this news already.  And why would they need to censor Sailor Moon, anyway?  The show has been around in Japan for over a decade now and it's been just fine the way it is.  Not to mention Sailor Moon has already been released on DVD in Japan in its current form and the show isn't even popular in Japan anymore, so what's the point in censoring a show nobody in Japan cares about anymore?
When her leathery, crow-footed face turned towards my raised hand and said, “Yes, the boy in the Sailor Mercury t-shirt,” I sprung into action. It took me a brief 20 seconds to acquire the bokken (wooden sword) I had secured to the underside of our chairs with duct tape the night previous. Shouting “Japan BANZAIII!” in the manner of those noble kamikaze pilots from the War of United States Aggression (so tactlessly referred to in your history books as “World War II”), I charged the stage, bringing down the bokken forcefully onto the plywood table in front of Tiffany Grant. It was a tragic mistake not to channel my ki correctly. The bokken splintered into a thousand pieces, leaving me with no other plan of attack besides shouting, “You’re no Asuka!” as two Ohayocon toughs escorted me out of the room-SomethingAwful.com

I think that site is just saying the anime *should* be censored... that's their opinion of what they want to see done and they're asking people to submit names of anime they think should be censored. (I only skimmed over the site but that's what it looks like to me) Unless I see some news reports or something I'm not going to believe that. o_O;; I agree with Takato... a lot of those shows are old and not even on the air anymore, so what would be the point? <_<:; Some of them are just ridiculous, anyway... I mean, Tokyo Mew Mew is practically the cleanest anime I've ever seen. <___<
