Anime vs friends
« on: February 28 2006, 05:07 am »
We all like anime, but the question is are you the only otaku out of your friends?
Most of my friends absolutley despise it and instead love Disney. Sometimes we have anime vs Disney showdowns.
In fact, I have a Syaoran keychain and one of my friends has a Mickey mouse one. There was a fierce battle between the two.:sweatdrop:

Mine could really care less. I think that I'm the only one around here that actually does like anime. This is the only place that I can talk about it. Kinda makes me feel like an outsider, but what are you gonna do?

On an ephemeral evening, I tell a story to my friend.

Reflected behind my closed eyelids is a sweet field. Dauntless, I embrace you lovingly. I am together with you.

Out of love, I forge a pact with you. Like a breath, the wind will envelop you. You and I will be together wherever we go.

The heart of red will be enfolded in wind and forge the contract.

Most of my close friends don't like anime, much as I do. I have like two that are kinda interested in it (but really don't think much of it). One of the two I showed her fruits basket, kare kano and something else.. she likes Fruits Basket but only because thats all I've actually showed her.

However she rarely mentions it at all (and I honestly think she doesn't like anime and just pretends that she does just for me. I don't know. ) The other friend, well, I watch anime at her friends on comcast on demand. She is really the one I can discuss my interest with (at least in the group of friends).

Then I have another friends who loves it, too. I've gone to Sakura Con with her, and she's also a big fan of yaoi. That's how we became friends, actually, because of our interest in anime. ^^; But that's not how it it with most of my friends. :/

Only one out of my friends like anime. But she only likes chobits. I tryed getting her into Tsubasa reservoir chronicle, and Card Captor Sakura, but she turn them all down. All my other friends hate anime. P.S They are guys who are in the Halo, and X-box world. So This is the only place were I can talk about anime, and news ones I like. I'm the only girl around my family, and friends who are very crazy into anime.

I got to get new friends.

the amount of my friends that like anime goes half and half. there is that handful of people that think that anime is a waste of time and that it's not all that great while the other half love watching anime.

I've actually tricked one of my friends into cosplaying at school! It was during school spirit week when there's a theme for you to dress up every day of that week. Well, one day the theme was sailors and I got my friend(who hates anime) to wear this nice black sailor's outfit-->Sakura's school uniform. XDDD
Then I have another friends who loves it, too. I've gone to Sakura Con with her, and she's also a big fan of yaoi. That's how we became friends, actually, because of our interest in anime. ^^; But that's not how it it with most of my friends. :/
The Sakura con! I've been there 3 years in a row, now. ^o^ I was first brought there by two friends that I didn't know too well. Unfortunatley, I never got to be good friends with them, and they don't seem to be into anime as much any more. T^T Oh well...I still LOVE the Sakura con.

Seems like they care more about clothes than TV and stuff anyways.

Well out of my best friends yes. But a few of my friends like it. So yeah.. they're the only ones I can really talk about it with. But that's okay because I think it would get boring if everyone I knew liked it. :/

My friends couldn't care LESS about Anime, they prefer watching novels in the TV or talking of What Not to Wear.  :dodge:

I am the only one that loves Anime, and since I know they HATE to know about it, I keep my mouth shut and I talk about it here in the forums.  :)

My sister is the only person besides an aunt of mine and her boyfriend that actually CARE about Anime. I am the Clamp and Hayao Miyazaki fan, and am really proud about it.  :okay:

My friends..well... we are really different, but we get along most of the time... although I would rather defend MY sweet Syaoran than to accept that Mickey Mouse is better anytime, any place... hehe  :heh:

I don't know yet about this year. I really REALLY wanna go, but it depends on how much money I can scrounge up before March. And there's the hotel and travel expenses. Mouu...><; Have you cosplayed? Haha...I'm always CCS Sakura, Harkuo from FLCL and Vampire Princess Miyu. Last year, I saw a TRC Syaoran and got to glomp him!!! XD

When I was still in high school, only my best friend was into anime and she was the only one I could talk to anime about aside from my online friends.  I mostly keep my interest anime to myself because most everyone else either hates anime and likes to make fun of it or they just don't know what it is and when I have tried to explain it to others in the past, they just thought it sounded too weird.  I recently found out that someone I knew from high school is into anime now, too.  I didn't really hang around him enough to call him a "friend".  He was more of a "buddy" type of person I would sometimes hang out with and talk to at school, but I never really brought up discussions about any of my hobbies or interests whenever I talked to him and we never really hung out much.  But I saw him at the manga section of Walden's when I went there to buy some manga recently and found out that he likes anime too and has been interested in it for about a year now.  He said he only liked the Shounen Jump stuff but it was still nice to find out somebody else I know likes anime.  Most everyone else doesn't even know I like anime outside of my family.  I'm just too embarrassed to tell people I like it.
When her leathery, crow-footed face turned towards my raised hand and said, “Yes, the boy in the Sailor Mercury t-shirt,” I sprung into action. It took me a brief 20 seconds to acquire the bokken (wooden sword) I had secured to the underside of our chairs with duct tape the night previous. Shouting “Japan BANZAIII!” in the manner of those noble kamikaze pilots from the War of United States Aggression (so tactlessly referred to in your history books as “World War II”), I charged the stage, bringing down the bokken forcefully onto the plywood table in front of Tiffany Grant. It was a tragic mistake not to channel my ki correctly. The bokken splintered into a thousand pieces, leaving me with no other plan of attack besides shouting, “You’re no Asuka!” as two Ohayocon toughs escorted me out of the room-SomethingAwful.com
