I think it means "interesting".
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

No, you're right! "Omoshiroi" is "interesting". ^_^

I really like this idea. Can please come up with a list of commonly used words, slangs, phrase and translate it into English and also have the pronounciations in romanized letters attached? It would be great help I think! :D

Ah, ok! ^_^ *raises hand* I'll do it! I know a lot of slang! I'll do it... in a week or two. Sound good?

Why is this thread still in the "Suggestions" section, though? Isn't this place pretty official? I mean, there's been 9 pages... ^_^;;

you can say that about the Manga thread too and that has 19 pages (I think that would be a good one to go in the inbetween part of the Fanfic/Fanart section)

I'm pretty sure that's a crude/rude way of saying "what's going on?"/"what are you/they doing?"

It's actually easier to learn pronounciations for Japanese letters in general, rather than trying to memorize them for every word, since Japanese letters are always pronounced the same. ^^;

i know nothing about Japanese...but as a Chinese i can read some kanji as they often mean the same....:)
Ok...don't a lot of Japanese names have hidden menaigs in them? I'm not sure if that counts as language, so someone tell me if they don't...

Sakura - Cherry Blossom
Syaoran Li - Little Wolf
Touya - Peach Blossom
Yukito - Snow Bunny
Tomoyo - Faithful Friend (I'm not sure about this one, but I read it somewhere)
Yue - Moon...although I think it's chinese....
i thought the word "Syaoran" means Little Wolf? "Li" doesn't count right?
and in Chinese the kanji of Touya means Peach Arrow...
and i've heard that Yue in kanji means moon also...

Well, yes. Only "Syaoran" means Little Wolf. Li is just Li, a common Chinese surname. Dunno if it has a meaning..
but yeah, that's all I know. Ain't that the most helpful post ever? :D

and the Chinese word Li does have a meaning...it means plum (i'm not sure if Clamp meant to make us think of that though)

I don't know if I've already posted it in this topic but here's something you might find useful for quick translations:

Japanese<->English Dictionary Server
http://www.solon.org/cgi-bin/j-e/dict
- This one is easier to use and has more options for translating between Japanese and English.

WWWJDIC Word Display
http://www.csse.monash.edu.au/cgi-bin/cgiwrap/jwb/wwwjdic?1C
- In addition to definitions, this also gives the Japanese characters or Kanji like this きりぬさ.

Convenient topic ^_^ Thank you all for the links and phrases!

Here are two other links, not sure if I overlooked them but as far as I know no-one posted them yet:
http://www.freedict.com/onldict/jap.html <-- a translation page, Japanese->English and vice versa. I use that one a lot.
And for those who want to learn the kana: http://www.realkana.com I learned hiragana within one to two weeks by just using that site.

I remember on a forum I was at had this section completely devoted to topics focusing on the Japanese culture like all the different types of housing, popular foods, traditions, etc. It was very informative. ^__^ If there were something like that here, that would be awesome.
