Since this falls under General Media I'll post this here. If the administrators feel this would be of better use elsewhere, we can move it.

It's been reported at The Pulse that CLAMP will be the guests of honor at this year's AnimeExpo.

CLAMP, the renowned Japanese manga artists famous for their very popular and unique style, will make their first tour of the United States at this year's Anime Expo. For manga and anime fans in the United States and throughout the world, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to see this influential group. The visit is being co-sponsored by Anime Expo, Del Rey Manga, FUNimation Entertainment and TOKYOPOP, and details of the itinerary are to be announced soon.

CLAMP consists of four women artists, Satsuki Igarashi, Ageha Ohkawa, Tsubaki Nekoi and Mokona, who create their own original story and characters in the Japanese graphic novel form known as "manga". They made their debut as manga artists in Japan in 1989 and since then have become bestselling authors, and animation films based on their work have been prominent on both TV and the cinema screen.

CLAMP has also been at the spearhead of the current flux and rise in popularity of Japanese anime and manga in the United States, with titles such as Magic Knight Rayearth, Cardcaptor Sakura, and Chobits. Among the manga and anime audience, CLAMP is one of the single most recognized names. The two series that they are currently writing in Japan, Tsubasa and xxxHOLiC, are both being published in English.

CLAMP will be the guests of honor at this year's Anime Expo held at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, CA, from July 1 - 4. They will be involved with the opening ceremonies, there will be a discussion panel as well as limited autograph sessions for their U.S. and international fans. CLAMP will also present a premiere screening of the highly anticipated Tsubasa anime at the Anime Expo. The Tsubasa and xxxHOLiC anime DVDs are expected later this year.

"Anime Expo is pleased and honored to welcome CLAMP to the United States. We are so excited that they are joining our attendees and other special guests for our 15th Year Crystal Anniversary," Liyin Liang, Anime Expo 2006 Vice Chair.

"CLAMP is one of the most acclaimed groups of artists in Japan. We are extremely excited to be working with everyone to bring their unique art to the United States," said Gen Fukunaga, president and CEO of FUNimation.
Though no specific date has been announced, this is the first official word of the Tsubasa and XXXholic DVD being released this year in the United States.

hmm.... if DVD's are gonna be relased later this year... does that mean we'll be getting the anime on Funimation soon?

Sadly it's a little too far west and it falls during Fourth of July weekend and my family does the traditional picnic & fire works.

For curiosity's sake,does it fall during the San Diego Comicon?

I wish I could go see Clamp but it's much too far away for me to make the journey and we also usually already have plans for the Fourth Of July.  I really want to get Clamp's autograph, but even just seeing them in person would be good enough.  I wonder if they'll make any announcements about the ending to the X manga....

Hey everyone, guess who's going? *raises hand* YUKI IS!!! Kyaaaaaaaa!!!! *fangirl squeal* I've been squealing about this since yesterday when I got my tickets!!! *happy dance*

I'm probably going to go to the con at 6 AM and wait for two hours just to make sure I see them and get their autographs!!!! I wonder what sacrifice gift I should bring them?!? Any ideas?!??! O.O

I'll definitely be cosplaying as Kamui, so if anyone else is going and sees a Kamui, it could be me! O.O

GOD I'm so happy I'm going to explode!! XD XD XD

I have no clue what suggestions I could give you for your gift to CLAMP. Hmm, being a fan is already a gift I suppose? XD

You're so lucky Yuki-chan! I so envy you! As for a gift, and this is just a suggestion, how about a bonsai tree? It's a popular gift in Japan, though expensive in America  :sweatdrop: Again, just a suggestion.

Wahh! I live close to CA, but I can't go. ^^'' Not unless I begged my parents (but I really doubt it, especially since it's during 4th of July weekend) although I'm happy for Yuki-chan and Suu-chan! ^_^

NOOO!!!! Leave it to CLAMP to make your loved ones hate you!! XD XD No, I'm kidding. Anyway, I WOULD get you a souvenir, but I dunno you in RL so how on earth would I do that?! XD

Anyway, I dunno about the bonsai tree, moezy. True, they DO make great gifts, but I'm travelling there by car and I'm cosplaying so I'll be enough of a hassle on my own, so I need something easier to carry.. I was considering making them plushies of themselves but I don't know if I have time! XD

Actually I live nearby in The Clow Kingdom aka Arizona and though I'm really tempted to go, I don't do the travelling thing but who knows...anything can happen between now and then :D

Moezy I'm so sorry you can't go!! >_< I feel guilty telling everyone I'm going, now, but I couldn't hold it in!!! XD

And I will take TONS of pics!! I'll even make a thread for them when I get back! I'll try to photograph CLAMP ((if it's allowed)) and I'll take pics of all kinds of cosplayers and everything!

Yuki may even get in one of the pics! O.O But it's not likely! XD Maybe I'll let you guys see my arm! XD
