Rika/Terada: Your opinion on the large age gap

<< < (2/6) > >>

Smile_For_Me:
In Japan, the marring age for girls is 15-16, while the boys are 18-19, and CLAMP has had another teacherxstudent in there other works, more so in CCS, TouyaxKaho, EriolXKaho, Sakura's mother and father were even a student teacher relationship. The manga Suki also has that going on, along with Chobits, so Rika and Terada relationship isn't that strange in Japan, considering a teacher can be 20 years old in Japan. Here in America, Canada or anyother place in the world, this may seem disterbing, but it happenes. CLAMP likes to put real world things in their manga, even if it might cause an uproar over what it is over seas, but this is something we should understand, that it is in Japan and a Manga/Anime.

I hope this clears things Just a little bit.

Kasawa Lanford:
Also, Japan happens to have very different laws than what we have here in America, Canada or any other place

Whlie it may not be seen as wrong in Japan, could very well be seen as wrong else where

I personally don't care, I mean he is taking it slow and simple, and I highly doubt he'll do anything that will compromise there relationship or rather, that will cause any tension between them

And besides, Rika-chan did have more chances with Terada after Kaho left. He became there 5th grade teacher and I think he also became there 6th grade teacher to.... (in the movie where Hope was involved, I recall one studeting saying 'Terada-sensei' to there teacher, either that is a typo in the subtlting *although the japanese voice did match)

Dunno

moezychan:
I don't entirely mind it, but I also don't entirely support it. I'm more against it than anything since I am going to become a teacher and it is against the law for any teacher to have a relationship with their student. At least that's the law in America. But at the same time, it doesn't bother me since Terada-sensei is respectful to Rika and he has never tried to hurt her or overpower her in any situation. I keep being pulled both ways with this. It really is confusing.

LSD:
well.. i think that the teacher-student relation is not what is disturbing..
personally i'm a fan of those kinna relationship
but the thing here is that she is only a little kid... not like sakura's mother that at least she was already a teeneger.. and the terada is an adult.. *shulders*.. i don't like this

Smile_For_Me:
I do understand that if the child is 18 year or younger, since Rika is 13 at the end of CCS, they should not have anykind of relationship going beyond simple glances and holding hands, which is the case, cause Terada said he would wait for her. It is common for students to date teachers in Japan as long as they are in College, they, the Japanese government, are not to happy when it comes to grade school and high schoolers.

I plan to become a teacher as well, but I will not date my students, because I am not a bad person. Yes it is a big no no in America and Canada, but remeber Japan is a different place, and if you have a one sided opion to things, it will become your downfall.
