It depends, I forced myself to watch the first couple of episodes...they weren't that good. But partway through the Duellist Kingdom Series, something changed....

Seto Kaiba swooshed in and gave the series a new plot line!

I admit, I used to be obsessed with it but I got over it about 2 years ago.  xD  My favorite characters are Yugi, Yami Yugi, Tea', Seto Kaiba and Joey.  They're so cool.  XD

The episodes were all right, I hated the fact though that there were so many Tea bashers out there.  It made me wonder why there were so many.  What's so wrong with her anyway?   :shifty:  lol

I think people were put off by all the friendship talks....

I haven't really gotten over it, because we're only on the Battle City Arc over here....the Noa episodes. So I have a lot left to watch.

My fav characters are Seto, Bakura (Ryou, not the theif king) and prob Yami Yugi.

When Yugioh first came on TV, I didn't really seem all that interested in it, but then I checked it out of curiosity and I've been hooked ever since.  Sadly, the dub really screwed up a lot of things.  4Kids changed all the music, most of the names of the characters, combined certain episodes, cut out any religious symbols (like crosses and pentagrams), some violence, censored any brief nudity, and there was even a reference to rape in one of the episodes in the Japanese version, which was changed to Tea being threated by a mugger rather than a rapist in the dub.  I also hated how they tried to censor out all the death with the "Shadow Realm" crap.  Thankfully, 4Kids has released the uncut Yugioh DVDs, but they've only released the first three volumes.  Actually, they released volume three for a little while, but then stopped selling copies of it and delayed any other future volumes for reasons unknown and for who knows how long.  Luckily, I bought my copy of it as soon as I could.  The uncut version is really amazing!  I love watching it all in Japanese with English subtitles, and while the new dub that's on the uncut DVDs is uncut, they still use the dub names and it's still the same awful VAs the edited dub used, so I only watch the Japanese version.

I've also seen the first six episodes of Yugioh: A Shadow Game fansubbed and really want to see the rest of it.  It was very good and a lot different from the Duel Monsters series.  I also have the first five volumes of the manga which I really love a lot, although the art style is a little weird compared to the second anime series.  My fav Yugioh character has to be a tie between Jonouchi and Mai.  I used to hate Jonouchi in the dub because his fake New Jersey accent got on my nerves, but he's a lot funnier in the Japanese version, and his acting is a lot better, too.  And Mai I've always liked just because she's cool.  Probably my least fav Yugioh character is Honda because they barely do anything with him at all, so it's kind of hard to like a character that does nothing at all.  I also thought the American-made Yugioh movie was kind of dull.  It had some funny moments in it and really good animation, but the storyline was too unoriginal and predictable for my tastes.  I still haven't seen that 30 minute Japanese Yugioh movie yet, though I really want to.  My fav arc of Yugioh is Battle City, even though I've only seen the dub of it.  It had some really exiciting moments in it and Marik was a really cool, psychotic villian.  My fav moment has to be when Mai is dueling with him.  She was just really cool during that duel!  My least fav arc has to be the Noa arc.  I wanted to see more of the Battle City tournament yet they just had to interrupt the storyline to go off in this completely different and boring plot.  And the only new important thing you learn is some background story stuff on Seto, yet the manga was able to cover all this in only one or two pages, so I don't see why they needed to take this detour just to cover this info.
When her leathery, crow-footed face turned towards my raised hand and said, “Yes, the boy in the Sailor Mercury t-shirt,” I sprung into action. It took me a brief 20 seconds to acquire the bokken (wooden sword) I had secured to the underside of our chairs with duct tape the night previous. Shouting “Japan BANZAIII!” in the manner of those noble kamikaze pilots from the War of United States Aggression (so tactlessly referred to in your history books as “World War II”), I charged the stage, bringing down the bokken forcefully onto the plywood table in front of Tiffany Grant. It was a tragic mistake not to channel my ki correctly. The bokken splintered into a thousand pieces, leaving me with no other plan of attack besides shouting, “You’re no Asuka!” as two Ohayocon toughs escorted me out of the room-SomethingAwful.com

Yu-Gi-Oh? *sighs* I used to like that anime. I lost interest in it eventually. =/ Although... LOL. I remember being a huge Yami Yugi fangirl back in the days, especially with Jounouchi and Mai as a couple. Heh. I also remember making sigs of Dark Magician and DMGirl. Ah, the memories.

I'm not crazy about Yu-Gi-Oh anymore, I'm afraid.  I mean, battles with cards that drag on and on and well, you get the picture.

Ava and sig by me!

Hm, I always liked the stuff before the card game became the major focus.

Yami Yugi was so friggin' awesome when he was owning punks. ^^

At first, i didn't like the anime cause of its graphics. But later, the story got better and got me hooked to it. But the local tv here broadcast the anime series until Battle City Arc then it stopped. I've to buy the manga to know the rest of the story.

Kinda...the whole last series is basically set in ancient egypt.

But it's nothing like Pokemon (rubbish) Digimon (brill!). The stroy focuses on the chracters, not the monsters. The card game plays a big part in the anime, but it's the dialogue and flashbacks that you have to watch out for.

Well, Yugi does have a bizarre hairstyle....I wonder how he keeps it up like that so well, especially Yami....Did they have hair gel back in ancient Egypt?

Kaiba has green hair! And the stories are way more cynical! I love it! Thank God for bittorrent!

And Yami is voiced by Ogata Megumi-san.  *drools*

Plus, although some of the storylines are more violent/dark, there's a lot more humour in the friends scenes than in some of the later versions of the series.

I like Yu-Gi-Oh! The manga 'Yu-Gi-Oh!' was awesome and the 'Yu-Gi-Oh! Duelist' ones are coming out. ^^ The anime has it's moments. But was it just me or did the ending of Waking the Dragons completely bomb? The japanese version was much better.

My favorite characters are Jou and Bakura. ^^ And Yami No Yugi and Yami no Bakura

Yeah, the manga is pretty cool. One prob with the anime here though...we got up to the point in the Noa arc where Yami Yugi and Joey had just won their duel with the Big 5.....and then Up On The Roof jumped to the final episode in the Battle City arc! We never got to see them escape the virtual relaity, duel the final in Battle City, or anything!

They totally left out the best episodes, because they thought it might be disturbing!

I've watched quite a few episodes on TV. They are pretty good. At one point I got so obssed with it that I went out and bought those cards they play with on the show..I think that is partly the reason I'm broke and can't buy manga/anime T_T

Don't worry! I did that too! And I bought all the Gameboy Advance games too!

Of course, I have no idea why I bought the cards.....I have no-one to play the game with! Silly me!

I like Yu gi oh. But I hate dub version. It is stupit. I feel like a moron when I watch it. They cut out every good scenes and they spoild  characters. Fox Kids are evil.

I have a question to ask: The dubbed version on fox kid, is it the real series finale? Cuase i think they're just lazy at dubbing or something.
