The greatness that is Syaoran

thank you so much!
I am very obliged when someone takes time to read my thoughts :)
sometimes I feel they are overlooked on other forums simply because sometimes people prefer to keep things extremely basic, and I don't want to seem as though I am blabbing a little ^^;
I've said if before, and I will probably never get tired of saying it (until someone else shuts me up, lol )
but Syaoran helps me to be more sure of myself. (this might seem like madness to some people) but if you really think about it, he really is an inspiration ^_^
--- Quote --- I agree with you; TRC Syaoran is much more reserved, but he seems almost too perfect. I love a character that has apparent faults, and works on achieving them! That's why CCS Syaoran will always be my favorite!

^__^ I think that is what is so nice about CCS Syaoran too. He seems.. a little bit more believeable :)
I guess CCS and TRC Syaoran are slightly different because what they are trying to achieve in each story is slightly different.... and yet the same
CCS Syaoran at first just wants the cards, then he just wants to be noticed by, and help and protect Sakura. I loved it in the second movie, when he was under the tree, and he said that even if he loved Sakura, if she didn't want to, there was no reason for her to answer him <3
TRC Syaoran, is more reserved, but he has good reason... he knows Sakura will never remember him. For those who have someone they love, they'll empathise with the pain that he must feel, the lonliness and heartbreak.... and those who don't probably have a pretty good idea too....
...it is his task is to protect her at all costs, retriving her memories. But there is still that element of 'I don't care if she never remembers me'
he'll always be doing what is best for her.... in both stories, Sakura is the one who teaches him, and melts his heart.
Jeannette:
Just to stick my two cents in here: I agree that Syaoran is rather too perfect in TRC. He doesn't seem to be really human almost. Not that he's real, but you know what I mean.
But TRC Sakura also seems too perfect to me. She never gets angry, she never complains. All she does is act supremely and sugarly sweet. Though, in all fairness, I suppose that stripping her of all her memories kind of also stripped her down to the barebones of her personality. Even still, Fai and Kurogane with their issues seem a lot more interesting, as much as I love Syaoran and Sakura.
But this all makes sense to me. CCS was, as most magical girl series are, a story about growing up, a story of developing and reaching adulthood and your full potential. (I could go on for hours about CCS as a coded coming-of-age story, but I won't.) It therefore obviously was supposed to reflect real life and real life issues; that's why Sakura had her unrequited crush on Yukito and why Touya had his heart broken by Kaho. That's what happens in real life. You don't find your soulmate in your first crush. You just don't. And your first crush is always exciting and frightening; you don't know how to handle your feelings, just like Syaoran and Sakura don't know how to handle their feelings. And real people get mad at each other, and throw hissy fits, etc. That's why Syaoran is such a jerk to Sakura and why Sakura and Touya always fight. (Even though he's in high school and should know better than to fight with a fourth grader.)
TRC, however, is not a coming of age story. It's an epic, a piece of mythology. In mythology, characters are supposed to be the epitome of what humans seek to be, not what they actually are. It totally makes sense, then, that Syaoran would be so perfect. Just as somebody said earlier on this thread, he's supposed to represent love and loyalty in their purest forms.

O.O LadyUltima, why does every single one of your posts leave me in awe? I agree with everything you just said 100%!!
Now, I noticed that a lot of people were asking about the two Syao Syaos that everyone keeps referring to. Frankly, even those of us who have read and seen all of TRC so far still don't really know. But if you'd like to know what we do know so far:
Show contentThe second Syao Syao seems to be some kind of clone created by TRC's antagonist, Fei Wong Reed. All we know about evil Syao Syao is that he seems to be able to get into Syao Syao's mind (although he's only done this twice so far, and only for seconds at a time.) Also, that may not even be the evil Syao Syao doing that, it may be Fei Wong Reed allowing him or forcing him to.. He hasn't even made a psysical appearance in front of the TRC gang, yet. Only in Syao Syao's mind or through his body. He pretty much just floats in a tube in Fei Wong Reed's little office of doom and evilness like Nataku-chan from X right now.. Like I said, we know little to nothing about him yet. Oh yeah, except for that he has awesome ink. XD (He's got a ton of red tattoos/markings. They're cooool..) But besides the ink, he looks just like Syao Syao. With an evil face.
Shiunu:
Wow you guys are so analytical! Lol. Nice posts everyone. I completely agree with what everyone has just said. CCS is what started everyone's obsession. You have to remember that there was CCS Syaoran before TRC Syaoran. Its just neat to see him grow up and mature and still fight for Sakura and protect her no matter what! I also think that TRC Syaoran is perfect, but like LadyUltima said that TRC is like mythology that the people in the stories are people that everyone wants to become and look up to.
Woah this sure is getting interesting.

(blink blink) Really? Awe? I'm always worried I come off as pretentious. Well, thanks. (ego is stroked)
And, none of us TRC fans really do have any real clue as to what the heck is up with the two Syaorans. We've got all kinds of theories, though.
And... dude. Show content Ebil Syaoran really is like Nataku in X. I hadn't even thought of that. Hmm... Actually, a few months ago there was a conversation going on about similarities between Kamui and TRC Syaoran. Kinda interesting. I don't think anybody mentioned the fact that nobody knows who Kamui's father is, just like nobody knows who TRC Syaoran's parents are, or even if he actually has biological parents, but I've always found that point rather interesting.
