The greatness that is Syaoran

--- Quote from: LadyUltima on February 17 2006, 01:09 am ---Just to stick my two cents in here: I agree that Syaoran is rather too perfect in TRC. He doesn't seem to be really human almost. Not that he's real, but you know what I mean.

But TRC Sakura also seems too perfect to me. She never gets angry, she never complains. All she does is act supremely and sugarly sweet. Though, in all fairness, I suppose that stripping her of all her memories kind of also stripped her down to the barebones of her personality. Even still, Fai and Kurogane with their issues seem a lot more interesting, as much as I love Syaoran and Sakura.

But this all makes sense to me. CCS was, as most magical girl series are, a story about growing up, a story of developing and reaching adulthood and your full potential. (I could go on for hours about CCS as a coded coming-of-age story, but I won't.) It therefore obviously was supposed to reflect real life and real life issues; that's why Sakura had her unrequited crush on Yukito and why Touya had his heart broken by Kaho. That's what happens in real life. You don't find your soulmate in your first crush. You just don't. And your first crush is always exciting and frightening; you don't know how to handle your feelings, just like Syaoran and Sakura don't know how to handle their feelings. And real people get mad at each other, and throw hissy fits, etc. That's why Syaoran is such a jerk to Sakura and why Sakura and Touya always fight. (Even though he's in high school and should know better than to fight with a fourth grader.)

TRC, however, is not a coming of age story. It's an epic, a piece of mythology. In mythology, characters are supposed to be the epitome of what humans seek to be, not what they actually are. It totally makes sense, then, that Syaoran would be so perfect. Just as somebody said earlier on this thread, he's supposed to represent love and loyalty in their purest forms.

that would be me who said that  :keke:

I agree with your points Lady Ultima.
CCS and TRC are different in what the whole manga intends to be as well, thus why characters are different.

Sakura is an interesting topic (and I know this is a Syaoran thread so I'll be brief.)  As Lady Ultima said she is quite a sweet and pure hearted character, and seems to have no issues at all. This is true both in CCS and TRC in a way. CCS Sakura always came across as a little 'dense' sometimes. She misses things, sometimes she doesn't always link things together, even acts a little nieve at times...that is part of what makes her so cute and pure. Her seemily total lack of anything bad in her soul... both in CCS and TRC.

Syaoran is perfect yes, and I agree with the mythology idea :)
He's someone people can aspire too. a legend in the making...

maybe, just maybe, that not so perfect side of Syaoran.. resides within Syaoran number two...

but  I'm sure we'll all find out in due time

If there was ever a highly possible theory on why Syaoran is so perfect, this would be it! I do agree; Show contentOne theory that I've had for a while, and you saying this hightened it, is that Syaoran might be split into 2 parts! Much like the Fujitaka/Eriol/Clow Reed theory!

It's quite possible that either Syaoran, or someone with an enormous amount of power, aka Fei Wong Reed, had split Syaoran in 2. Think about it for a minute. Syaoran has absolutely no memories of his past after Fujitaka found him, and he doesn't know when he was born for that matter. The evil part of Syaoran such as his bad faults, could be in the evil Syaoran. He could be much like how CCS Syaoran was only more so. Apparent bad faults, and a possible lust for killing.

Of course CCS Syaoran would never go that far, but don't forget that CCS Syaoran is violent in a sense. He did try to hurt Sakura when he first met her, and this Syaoran might be even more violent. As always, this is mere speculations, and I am not claiming that it is indeed factual.
Also, thank you all for your excellent theories! They're truly fantastic! Minna-san sugoi ne!

another thing that supports that theory is

another point that would support that theory is that Syaorans right eye is blind, and the Syaoran number 2 has a patch on his left eye...

looks like each of them got one good eye each if they were split....

Very good perception! I hadn't realized that when I was typing my response! It is entirely possible. I'm really standing by this theory now! Arigatou Xiao_Lang-chan!

I think I said a while ago that I wasn't quite sure that Syaoran (TRC) was human.  I think that all this speculation is making me wonder more, because not only is he the epitome of perfection, and moezy-chan, Xiao Lang and LadyUltima are making such wonderful points that I am almost positive that the Syao 2 is his 'less than perfect' side that was taken from him at some point ; most likely before he met Fujitaka.
