Hm, no problem!

To add on, just looking at Himawari we can tell Kimihiro is his given name, rather than Watanuki. She calls Doumeki by his surname, making him "Doumeki-kun". If she called Watanuki anything other than "Watanuki-kun" such as "Kimihiro-kun" or whatever, he'd probably have freaked out and been like "HAHAHAH HIMAWARI-CHAN LIKES ME MORE THAN DOUMEKI!" cos he's crazy that way and makes a big deal about Himawari treating him the same as Doumeki.

Sorry, I was going by the DelRey translation. Did they get that wrong? Because they list characters with reverse name order (Sorata was Sorata Arisugawa, Arashi was Arashi Kishuu), and it was "Watanuki Kimihiro."

...I'm very confused now.

Just means that Del Rey listed his name in the Japanese order, that's all. Not much for consistency though. >_>

Yup. Family name = Watanuki. Given name = Kimihiro. Del Rey keeps the names in the original Japanese order here.

you know, afer what yuuko told watenkuki ate the end of ch 113, the look on his face, i SO cant wait for the convo between watenkuki and doumeki ^^

its curious, watenuki has the worst case of denial, and its only cuz he's crushing on himiwari, but its always curious on how he ALWAYS reports to doumeki on the supernatural stuff, even before the eye incident ^^

then you got the almost canoning-serious funny convos, like whenever doumeki says something serious that MAY reveal how he feels, it turns into something that gets a rise out of watenuki XD

IE:
doum: If something [bad] were to happen to you...
watenuki... [fangirls go to the edge of their seat ^^]
doum: i wouldnt have anything to eat for lunch anymore.
watenuki: freaks out and yells with sharp teath etc

LOL i think its always about lunch/food too. such a cute pair there XD

Their relationship definately reminds me of Kazahaya and Rikuo, although I'd say Watanuki is far less naive and way more spastic. Doumeki obviously cares about him,

The same could be said about Watanuki, although his selflessness that hurts other people is something that he needs to work on. His fatal kindness kinda reminds me of Subaru in that regard.

hmm. this accured to me on the holic thread on fansub.tv's board...

watenuki has a diferent outlook on his power. he's still afraid of maicious spirits and stuff, but he;s nticing other stuff, that he probably never got the chnce to notice before IE the waves coming off the lder twin in the twins Rc, STUFF LIKE THAT. AS MUCH AS HE "HATES" being around doumeki, im pretty sure, doumeki's preense is alowing watenuki developp the better part of his power., simply by warding off bad spirits.

I believe it was the other way around. Watanuki is the family name. Kimihiro is his given name. Doumeki is the family name as well, and Shizuka is the given name. You can tell this, particularly with Doumeki, because

Yes, the others corrected me. I only read the Del Rey translations, so I haven't gotten to that chapter (and those translations aren't very clear about whether the names are family or personal). I apologize for stating incorrect information - I should have checked my facts more thoroughly (really, what posessed me to check using the notes at the end of Tsubasa 1? Other than the fact that they were right next to me and I expected them to be consistent with the XXXHOLiC translation, being done by the same guy and all...).

Sorry, didn't mean to put you on the spotlight again. ^^ I have to say, the Del Rey translations for Tsubasa are some of the worst I've seen. I hadn't read theh Holic ones...but now that you've mentioned it's the same guy, that's got to be bad news.

So I've heard. I still find them enjoyable to read, though, so I do. If I like the series that way, it's okay to read it, right? I've just never felt like reading online translations for XXXHOLiC the way I do for Tsubasa.

That's a TRC crossover, huh? I thought it was just Clamp using the name Piffle again. It's appeared in a few other Clamp works, hasn't it?

it could be that Clamp is just using the name Piffle again, but then again XXXHolic and TRC crossover with eachother a lot in the manga's so......
