From what I've read, the little bird won't be affected by Himawari's curse, but it won't protect her curse from people around her. Only the birdy is immune to the curse. So yes, she has a little friend that she can be with. I'm so happy for her ^^

That bird really is like Doumeki's and Watanuki's first baby It's just like Doumeki and Watanuki made it hatch (= "gave birth to it"). Just like real parents, they put it into the world XD

So the bird is immune to Himawari's influence. An immortal(?), impervious pet for Watanuki's friend. I think she's going to cry even more when she sees that cute little thing.

Also, Doumeki being immune to Himawari's influence. That explains a lot of little things throughout the manga. Himawari asked Doumeki to help Watanuki with the Angel-san case. She gave her hair ribbons to Doumeki instead of Watanuki (Clamp gave us a Watanuki spaz to distract from any significance there). The way Himawari invited Doumeki to join whatever Watanuki invited her to (as well as the fact that she would back out of a lot at the last minute) makes me almost certain that she knew Doumeki would keep Watanuki safe from her influence.

When I was reading chou_addicted's translation and read Watanuki talking about how Himawari would feel about him paying to get rid of her problem. . . Well, I could only think that he remembered how Doumeki reacted with the whole eye/spider thing. On that DouxWata note I have to add that I do think the bird is further proof that Watanuki is not interested in Himawari romantically.

Watanuki has a better understanding of others than Fai...that's a bit surprising.  I love how he told Yuuko he's not a kid anymore.  It's interesting to see how much he has grown over the course of the series.

Go back and check chapter 1 Watanuki actually looks younger, I didnt notice it til recently but theres a noticable difference.
Evidently if you count by seasons two years have passed.

umm fangirls (like me) will be in chaos ^_~ Honestly, if you looked at it, HxD might happened more than HxW, if DxW will not happened. (But I don't think it won't because its Yanmaga, probably throwing hints, most likely slash) I don't know why

So the bird is just there to keep Himawari company?  I was hoping it would have more impact than that (that bird pay for the water, which help save Fai).  At first I really dislike Himawari, but this last few chapter really change my view on her.  As for which couple will be canon, I think that it will mostly likely be Watanuki and Doumeki.  Yuuko hints several times throughout the manga that Doumeki is 'the one' for Watanuki, not Himawari.
I totally agree that the way Watanuki feels about Himawari is the same as the way Sakura feels about Yukito.  Watanuki is an orphan since little, he does not seem to have any friends at all.  Of course he would feel happy around someone who is nice, sweet, and always smile.  He mistook that warm feeling as 'love'.
The way Watanuki feels about Doumeki is way deeper.  Even though he nevers show it through words, but he shows it through his action and facial expression.  He cares more about Doumeki than he likes too.  I find this really funny:  whenever Doumeki said "I want Xxxx for lunch tomorrow", Watanuki would get really mad.   But he would always made Xxxx for lunch tomorrow. 
I really like Himawari by the way.  So if it HxD or HxW, then I won't mind.  It Clamp, so they can pull it off with any pairing (EXCEPT the Watanuki and the Vestal Sprite).  But I still cheer for DxW.

(also, in the rain, when doumeki called watanuki an idiot, he looked away, not looking directly at watanuki...people usualy do that so the other person doesnt see  their true emotion on their face. (i bet he was blushing :3 )

Really? Watanuki was looking pathetic in that scene so I thought that maybe Doumeki couldn't bear to see him look like that or he was surprised that he wasn't yelled at this time around.

Maul me for saying this but earlier in chapter 118 I kinda got the idea that Watanuki himself, being the selfless, sacrificing, adorable little guy he is, would get Himawari and Doumeki together. Then I can see Doumeki getting pissed off about the idea and he'll either confess to Watanuki(whatever the hell it is) or something.

Oh yes. And the only reason why this is in Yanmanga is because of Yuuko's boobs.

Because Clamp is evil, pure and simple.  Look at it this way, we get color pages for both series in the same week.  Seven pages.

I finally caught up with what's going on in the manga of xxxHOLiC...
I think the story is starting to resemble that of Tokyo Babylon. Toward the end of the story, the plot involves more about the protagonists' struggles rather than the struggles of the "clients" because the protagonists themselves, too, fell victim to their own desires.
I like it. CLAMP is finally reiterating the question of "Happiness" as they always had. It is, after all, the pupose of Yuuko's shop.
On the other hand... I really want to know what's gonna happen to Watanuki, Himawari, and Doumeki, and that Tsuyuri, too. The relationships are so blurry in the story, it isn't as clear cut as TB or Legal Drugs.

Yeah I agree, TB started off with Sei-chan and Subaru as love interests and in Legal Drug Kazahaya was the uke of all ukes, they dressed him up in girkls clothing and paried him with Rikou, not subtle at all lol.
xxxHolic is a lot more subtle. I think i like it more that way.
but yes, we've reached the point where its not Yuuko's clients who are being focused on.

Hey I was just wondering about Watanuki's history with Himawari and Doumeki. It seems that he's actually been friends with Himawari for some time and before Yuuko came into the scene all Watanuki and Doumeki did was fight. Well that's how it is according to the manga.
