Hoe! Phwee!

(1/4) > >>

Hikari B.:
It really makes me wonder about that during the translation. I'd appreciate it if someone could explain to me why Tokyopop (I think...) changed 'Hoe!' to 'Phwee!' in the CCS 1st arc (Western version) and Master of the Clow.

moezychan:
I've often wondered it myself. It could be possible that they wanted to keep the English translations child friendly, and in all reality, the word "hoe" in English means Show contenta woman who sells her body. That might be the reason, but then, why didn't they do it with the Clow Card Arc? It's truly confusing.

Takeru:
But why "Phwee?" That sounds like an exclamation of happiness. "Hoe" was originally fright or frustration. XD

I was thinking that but what made them change it back to 'Hoe!' in 1-6, the ones in right-to-left format?

mela:
Actually, a hoe is a gardening tool. Take away the 'e' at the end and you've got a bad word XD
