The CCS gang's lives as adults...
« on: August 06 2006, 11:59 am »
I wanted to see what you guys thought Sakura would be when she grew up.

The ending to the series left Sakura and her friends to be blessed with eternal youth. They never grow up, you never see them as adults, and the only major event that shows that they're now older is when Syaoran and Sakura both appeared in their junior high uniforms at the end of the manga. But we never really saw them as teenagers or adults outside of fanfiction.

So let's all share what we see and believe to be their future. I've come up with a few scenarios, each more unlikely as the next... but I'll only show the first one, since the second one might be a bit... politically touchy. Lots of war stuff, nothing too violent (no one dies), but it miiight be too related to current events to be allowed here. XD

So I'll just show you the most reasonable scenario: international pop-culture idol. Kinomoto Sakura, with her debut as the criminal's younger sister in the high-school production Saigo Jiken no Meitantei (which becomes a hit among indie film developers for excellent acting and great on-screen chemistry), becomes a national pop-culture icon for her cute looks and sugary sweet voice. After revealing her secret to both her friends and family, Daidouji Sonomi uses the Daidouji family fortune to fund the filming of a new movie. The screenplay, written and directed by Daidouji Tomoyo and spanned across five movies, stars Sakura as herself in a story about capturing and converting strange cards released from a mysterious magical book. No CG is used in the film, nor is a professional crew onstage, all of it being replaced with Sakura's own movie magic and her friends as the cast. The film trilogy is distributed by in-house publisher Daidouji Studios, a division of Daidouji Toys Incorporated. She becomes internationally known across the world, with critics such as Vincent Canby and Roger Ebert touting the Card Captor Sakura trilogy as having "amazing effects", "most compellingly realistic fantasy storyline", and "best actor and supporting actors". The movie industry is boosted incredibly by the box office charts, with her movie trilogy toppling blockbusters such as Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and Titanic. Merchandise, including dolls, coffee mugs, and cigarette lighters, is fashioned after her likeness, and everywhere she travels she is besieged by ecscastic fans. Hideo Kojima produces an action-platforming RPG hybrid game based on the Metal Gear Solid engine that blows the sales charts. Her music gives courage, her movies bring hope, her fashion style and merchandise boosts world economy by fifty percent; she becomes the richest woman on Earth. After her retirement, she works together with Bill Gates to bring twenty African and two Asian third-world countries to healthy economic status. Her name soon becomes synonymous with legend, and she goes down in history as one of the world's greatest idols.

Hmm... I wonder if I should start writing fan-fiction.

Oh well, anyways, let your imagination soar, and have at it!! =D

Moved to the CCS Board.

I actually, have never thought about this topic... deep enough at least. >< Your idea is super. Sounds like Sakura would be very successful. It would make a great fanfiction. :3

I've read a fanfiction called Kokoro no Hon (which I haven't read the ending yet) about Sakura growing up to be a writer. Actually... it may have been an alternate universe fic since she and Syaoran were so OOC, but it was pretty interesting.

Interesting theory... but that, to me, seems more like a Tomoyo-daydreaming-about-Sakura's-future scenario. She would no doubt be on the seventh cloud if that came true. I can't really picture Sakura as world famous - she is a bit too shy and modest for that.

I'm positive that Sakura's future job would somehow involve people. She couldn't possibly succeed as a shrink, methinks, nor with helping criminal youths or suchlike (I'm thinking she would fare badly being surrounded by all that anger, hate and misery, but on the other hand, she might be able to work magic with them - no pun intended). But perhaps... helping mentally challenged children or working in a kindergarten would suit her? Ah, that sounds so unglamorous and underpaid a living for our dear Sakura-chan, but I do think that's a job that could make both her and the kids very happy. Of course, she would be mightily famous and well-loved in her neighbourhood for being such a little sunshine - even in neighbouring cities she would be a living legend: "Sakura-chan? Oh, you mean the Sakura-chan!". ^^

How about the futures of the rest of the CCS gang? Or should I make a new thread about that?

By the way, Takeru, I'm always so impressed by your posts! Lenghty, excellent grammar and spelling, and interesting to read. Keep it up! :okay:

Actually, a kindergarten teacher really would suit dear Sakura-chan. In kindergarten there's a lot of arts and crafts, and I can certainly see her doing that... since she was pretty into the arts and crafts (sewing) when she was younger. I could also see her giving little individual talks to the kids that are having a hard time, cheering them up, and encouraging them. Plus, it is pretty modest and honest enough for her.

..And I'm sure she'd use her cards once in a while for a little help. ^___~

Maybe we should change it to the whole CCS gang... I'd sure love to see discussion on the rest of them too. ^^

Then what are we waiting for (Takeru's approval, maybe, but I can't see why he would mind)?

Whom should we start with... Tomoyo, perhaps? What do you think of her future?

Hmm, I quite like Takeru's theory, even if, as Ando said, it's more like Tomoyo's dream. I read in CLAMP no Kiseki where CLAMP said they had a general idea of how Sakura's future would go but decided to leave it up to the fans to decide and dream. Anywho... I think Sakura and Syaoran will get married and have several children. I like the idea of Syaoran becoming a martial arts/magic teacher. But I suppose he would have clan responsibilities, wouldn't he? I think the idea of a kindergarten teacher suits Sakura very well. Touya and Yuki will be 'life partners' until gay marriage is finally legalized in Japan and they tie the knot, and Tomoyo becomes a a fashion designer and finds a nice woman. That's my dream at least. ^^;

Sakura and Syaoran married when they became 16 years old and Syaoran opened a martial arts dojo. Sakura became a student at her husband's dojo and is, to Syaoran's great surprise, a very fast learner.

Tomoyo owns her own film producing company and has a crime record that she doesn't talk about, but people who know her always mutter something about 'stalking' when questioned about it.

Meilin has become an internationally known matchmaker (watch 2nd movie, meilin really has some matchmaker skills) ^_^

Eriol: he started a detective bureau but it didn't work, he now is back to live in his mansion together with his guardians and Kaho.

some of the less important characters and their futures:

Yamazaki: altough his book called 'weird but DEFINETLY TRUE stories' never got published it is loved by everybody who reads it and he hopes that the 2nd book he's working on called 'weird but DEFINETLY TRUE stories 2' does get published.

Chiharu: she is now working at a post-order agency and in her freetime can always be found at Yamazaki's site, trying to keep him from going overboard with his stories.

Naoko: she took up a job as storyteller at the local kindergarten but was fired for traumatizing the kids with scary ghost stories.....she's currently looking for a new job.

Rika/Terada: after Rika became 16 years old, they married despite their famillies disapproving....Terada was forced to resign as a teacher at Tomoeda when they found out about his relation with Rika and he became a teacher at a different school. Rika took a study for becoming a teacher and succeeded and the both of them are now teaching at the same school.

Touya/Yuki: they opened a restaurant together which rapidly became popular among girls (who still have no idea that Touya and Yuki are 'not available').

The Mirror Card: after realising that Touya didn't love her she decided to move on with her life......now, her card can always be found near the Firey Card in the Clow Card deck.

I think Syaoran would become an archeologist and he and Sakura would travel the world together since in the Time Card episode Fujitaka asked Syaoran if he liked archeology and he said that he did.  Then, maybe after traveling the world together for a long time, Syaoran and Sakura will eventually settle down in Tomoeda and Syaoran might become a history teacher at the local university.  Fujitaka always seemed like Syaoran's second father to me and Syaoran seemed to admire him a lot so I can imagine him following in his ways even in CCS.  I could see Sakura becoming a shrine prietess like Kaho was.  She already has the pyshic powers that anime prietesses are often stereotyped as possesing and Sakura always seemed like the type who seemed interest in being a shrine prietess to me.  She at least always showed an interest in it when Kaho was working at the Tsukihime shrine in any case.  Tomoyo would either go into the technology or film business or she might take over her mother's job as CEO of Daidouji Toy Company when she retires.

Meiling would go into something like the acting business or try her luck at becoming a singer.  She always liked the idea of being a star and getting all the fame and attention, so something like that would fit her to me.  Or maybe Meiling would even become a famous chef since she always had a talent for cooking, too.  By owning her own cooking show, she could be both famous and make use of her cooking skills at the same time.  Naoko would probably either be the owner of a library or become a fantasy/sci-fi/horror author.  Chiharu of course would open up her own toy store industry since she loved stuffed animals and maybe even go into the toy business together with Tomoyo.  And Eriol would probably become an archeologist or teacher himself to be Syaoran's rival again since the two always seem to be destined to be rivals at everything to me.  I think Touya might actually become a pianist or some sort of musician since he showed to have a lot of talent at playing the piano in the later episodes.  Yukito would open up his own 7-11 so he'll have instant access to all the snacks he could eat and Nakuru would probably end up working as a cashier at Yukito's 7-11 so she could flirt with Touya whenever he stopped by.
When her leathery, crow-footed face turned towards my raised hand and said, “Yes, the boy in the Sailor Mercury t-shirt,” I sprung into action. It took me a brief 20 seconds to acquire the bokken (wooden sword) I had secured to the underside of our chairs with duct tape the night previous. Shouting “Japan BANZAIII!” in the manner of those noble kamikaze pilots from the War of United States Aggression (so tactlessly referred to in your history books as “World War II”), I charged the stage, bringing down the bokken forcefully onto the plywood table in front of Tiffany Grant. It was a tragic mistake not to channel my ki correctly. The bokken splintered into a thousand pieces, leaving me with no other plan of attack besides shouting, “You’re no Asuka!” as two Ohayocon toughs escorted me out of the room-SomethingAwful.com

I rather like the idea of Yukito and Touya running their own restaurant. :) But Touya sure could earn some good money with the piano...

Hm, almost everyone seems to think of Syaoran as a teacher/instructor... I'm not so sure I agree. It depends a little on what age group you are instructing, but as a teacher, be it of children or adults, in magic or archeology, you need to be very patient and have a calm composure. Syaoran has many good traits, but I don't think those are his strongest, really.

Tomoyo becomes a a fashion designer and finds a nice woman.

O_o *tries to imagine Tomoyo loving someone else than Sakura* Well, it would be nice if she found someone, however I don't get why people keep saying Tomoyo is gay. In CCSverse, gender does not seem to really matter when it comes to love; think about how absolutely no one seems to question his or her sexuality or is grossed out/surprised by it. Eh, back on topic...

When not busy stalking, I think Tomoyo could be a film producer and fashion designer at the same time, as she seems quite capable of having many balls in the air. Maybe she could be a talk show host as well? Not so much for the fame and glory, but I think she would have the time of her life sitting there listening to her guests arguing, and then gently push them in the right direction. I can't imagine her eager to take over her mother's business. Tomoyo in a suit, doing paperwork 24/7 in a dusty office? Nah. Chiharu would be more suited, as Cardcaptor Takato pointed out, considering her love for plush toys and more serious personality.

Yamazaki would, of course, be a politican. He can pull a lie in any situation and make the gullible believe his words. :D

Naoko would be the next Stephen King (only better!) and - yet again, I agree with Takato - Meiling would so go for a career as an actress (she would must likely succeed, too). Rika would either be a teacher or a devoted hoursewife, I'd say.

But you have to remember that Syaoran is still just a kid now and I don't think most kids are calm or patient.  If Tsubasa is any indication, I think Syaoran will probably become more patient as he gets older and becomes more mature and he could use his childhood experiences of being irrational and impatient to help him to relate to his students better.

You have a point there. But then, as a teacher, you need to be fairly social, too, and even though Syaoran isn't a kid anymore and sure will have learned much from Sakura over the years, I don't think he will ever truly enjoy being around a lot of people - which naturally is crucial in order to delight in teaching others.

Actually, I thought of Syaoran's impatience being a problem with teaching as well, and it very well could be. Yet Kurogane isn't a patient man either, and he is/was teaching Syaoran. He would probably have to teach on a very one-to-one basis. And I love the idea of Touya and Yuki opening a restaurant together. XD

As for Tomoyo, I believe she is gay. No matter what CLAMP says, most people aren't bisexual. I hope she would find some one besides Sakura, even if it's not likely; and if she ever were to find someone, it would be a woman in my mind, no question.</off-topic>

Frankly, I don't believe it's possible to be a fully hundred percent straight or gay. Imagine a strictly heterosexual woman lays eyes on what to her seems like a very attractive guy, they start talking, and she does notice that his voice isn't exactly the deepest one there is, but in any case, she likes him. How long before she notices this "man" is in fact a flat-chested, male-looking woman? And how did she discover it? Not with any help from some kind of inner gender identifying bell, I'm sure...

As for Tomoyo, regardless of how CCSverse may not be corresponding to our reality, the fact remains that Tomoyo does live in CCSverse, where magical cards and time travel exist, and where gender is such a trivial matter when it comes to love. You can't apply our rules to that world - that would be like saying: "no matter what CLAMP says, magical cards do not exist". In our world they don't, but in the CCS world, they do.

And I would not say that everyone is CCS is bisexual, because that would mean something other than bisexuality did exist, if you have to put a name on it. Rather, the people of that show simply fall in love with persons. A small difference, but nevertheless important.

Sorry for kidnapping your thread, Takeru. Perhaps some kind moderator could move our off-topic posts to a new thread?

Tomoyo is a ten year old girl.  Do ten year old girls even have a sex drive?  But if Tomoyo does have a sexual preference, I don't think she's bi or a lesbian, but rather I think she's Sakurasexual. :tongue3:

i think  Tomoyo loves Sakura for what she is and if Saku was a boy Tomoyo would have totally become his girlfriend or whatever but since Sakura is a girl she knows her limits and is also aware that maybe later there might be someone else.

Ok, let's try to get back on topic. :)

Kaho, as we know, moved to England with Eriol. What do you think she would be doing for a living there? Is she fluent enough in English to work as a teacher there, would she find a nice shrine to become a priestess in (what religion did the Tsukimine temple serve, by the way? Taoism?) or find something completely different to do?

I think Syaoran would become an archeologist and he and Sakura would travel the world together since in the Time Card episode Fujitaka asked Syaoran if he liked archeology and he said that he did.

hmmmx.. so there is some basis for the Syaoran and Fujitaka in Tusbasa to like archeology.. it's now that i realised..

siggie made by Moon-Li.. thanz lots! aikoi^^
