Why you must read BOTH TRC and HOLiC
« on: November 10 2006, 09:26 am »
before CLAMP swore that you didn't have to read both mangas to fully understand everything...nows not that case is it?

if you remember back in ch 106 or 107 when syaoran appeared and asked to go "where the eye is" yuuko mentioned that "the price was already paid" but what we don't knowwhat it is, unless you read the cross over check point in TRC, ch 116 or 117, where yuuko said "the price has been paid. "the relationship" as well as "time" and "freedom"

the same goes if you only read TRC. when yuuko finally tells the gang about FWR, we see syaoran give a concerned look at watanuki's bandaged and bedridden form. why, tho, some who dont read it, would ask, would he care so much about watanuki?  because in xxxholic, in ch 120, yuuko mentioned that Syaoran was the 3rd person who paid for his life, and paid the larger part of the bill.

speaking of the crossover where syaoran went too yuuko's shop. after he left, in TRC we immediately jump back to syaoran and fai in the dessert, whereas if you continue the crossover on the xxxholic, yuuko mentions how bonds are easily broken, but people can still live on. she's talking about Clone Syaoran's future betrayal, and how fai feels towards kuro betraying his wish to die. Sakura is heartbroken over the los of syaoran, yes, but she's determined to live on and find him to save him.

in xxxholic, yuuko mentiones that FWR is harvesting souls (via the wings demons) but we dont know that in TRC. some then could tie that to the reason as to why FWR killed Kurogane's mom: her soul is imensly powerful, being a high Miko.  theres several other instances where you have to read BOTH mangas to get the whole picture!

at the point that both mangas are at, i think its imperative to read both mangas now. otherwise you might end up being clueless

Can I read this without spoling the whole plot of xxxHolic? I'm in volume 4 at the moment so I wouldn't like to be spoiled :)

Let's post spoilers in the event there are those who haven't read any future scanlations that haven't been yet released in the U.S. please.

It does mention in both books that though the two books cross over, it isn't necessary to get them both however you'd be looking at certain events from two perspectives if you did but as the series continued on, the crossovers seem less and less.

"Everything will surely be all right." 「絶対大丈夫だよ。」, "Zettai daijōbu da yo."
"Force without Master, heed the call of my Staff of Dreams, and become my power! SECURE!!!"

I disagree that xxxHOLIC and TRC crossover less as the series progress. If anything they've been crossing over much more!

The soul harvesting being explained. Sakura retrieving the little birdy egg as Yuko's payment. Real Syaoran's mysterious reason behind helping to save Watanuki, which will no doubt become very relivent later on...

Yuko talking about Fei Wang in the latest HOLIC chapter made it sound like the two mangas will crossover even more in the future.
The tag line was 'The one who, "in order to make his wish come true, will break everything". Fei Wang Reed... What is his true nature?! And what will embracing that "dream" bring about for Watanuki and the others?!'
Yuko said that both she and Clow knew about Watanuki before he came to her. So it's pretty definate that Wakanuki will have quite a role to play in the climax of the TRC story since it was Yuko and Clow that have been working together to foil Fei Wang for a long time.

So you're very right. You really need to read both manga series to have the full picture of what is going on.

Remember Hideki Campaign: Chi's one and only 'Someone Just for Me'.

Is TRC and xxxholic the same story?
not really. their 2 diferent story lines and genres, but they both are relevant to eachother. Yes you CAN read TRC without xxxholic, but youll get much more incite if you read holic along side, and if you read xxxholic without trc, youll just be left confused as to who FWR exactly is and whats up with the 2nd syaoran.

and NOW youll be wondering "whats this dream yuuko's talking about?" etc

Mind the spoilers, Sailor Yue. I think the person who's question you answered might be new. o.o

They are two different stories. However, some events happen in both stories, and it sometimes explains more if you read both. To put it nice and vague and spoiler-free. :)

XD is there any other kind? youll never really find a manga for under $10. thats why theres the internet. BUT it would be very nice if you suport CLAMP and tokyopop by EVENTUALLY purchasing the mnaga.
