Buying English DVDs means nothing for CLAMP.
I'll stick with japanese dvds.
Expect that it does mean everything for CLAMP. That's what this thing called a "licensing fee" is that Funi paid the Japanese companies with. When you buy the R1 DVDs, the money does go to Funi, but the money that Funi profits off of is used to pay the license fees for the Japanese companies for more anime to be licensed, which goes back to the creators, giving them more support so they can create more anime. The less you support the R1 companies, the less anime North American companies can afford to license for the U.S., which means the less money the Japanese companies make from allowing these titles to be licensed, which means less anime produced in Japan. Of course it's your money to do with what you want, and I'm not an expert on this subject, but if buying R1 DVDs meant nothing for CLAMP, then why would they bother releasing them in the first place? Besides, even if you buy the R2s, Bee Train still has to make a profit off of the sales too, so it's not like CLAMP is making any more of a direct profit off of your purchase than buying the R1s would mean for them. If you want to be that picky about directly supporting CLAMP, you'd have to import the Japanese manga. But even then it's still not an absolute direct profit for CLAMP since the Japanese manga publishers have to make a profit off it, too.
