Lomachislots War - Lost Childhood (Original) ~

[Director of Music]

Smiling.  Phineas couldn't fathom how to do that.  He was never one to smile, and now that action seemed even more foreign.  He gave Rin a small nod, his eyes, not meeting her gaze.  He slowly lowered himself down into a sitting position, placing his cane next to him.  Wincing slightly, he started to massage his damaged thigh, keeping his eyes trained on the horizon.

Rin gave him a somewhat questionable smile before sitting down next to him and glancing up at the horizon. "Beautiful, isn't it?" she said, noting that distant sun as it began to make it's way over the mountains - causing the horizon to steadily grow.

"Beautiful?"  He murmured, a question, not a statement.  His voice was hoarse due from underuse.  He appraised the colors in the sky as the light hit Phineas's gaunt features.

"I suppose so."  He replied quietly, not talking above a whisper.  "I suppose so."  He said again, casting his eyes downward.

Rin didn't say a word as the distant sun rose above the mountains; the sound of bells ringing got her attention as she glanced down at her watch which showed just a quarter past six thirty. "I wonder... what is going to happen to today..." she said and brought her knees close to her, wrapping her arms around them.

[Director of Music]

Phineas did not even flinch as the bells went off.  He did not want to move.  He was comfortable here.  It was an escape from reality.  Up here, it felt like everything, especially time, stood still.  Here, he could revel in his memories, and be lost in his thoughts.  Here, it didn't matter.

Rin had fallen partially asleep, half of her mind aware of what was going on around her while the other half was in a dreamlike state. Even as the sun finally peeked over the mountain, and a very light rain began to fall due to the light cloud cover, she still didn't wake.

Behind them, Yoko watched silently, her figure floating just a few inches off the ground. She waited a few more seconds as the rain trailed down her face, then spoke up. "You two are up early,"

Phineas didn't move as he heard Yoko's voice softly float up beside him.  He tilted his head slightly, as if in acknowledgment, but other than that, remained silent.  He watched as the rain hit his hair, plastering it down lightly against his forehead, and watched it drip down to his hands, down to his very fingertips.  It was then, that he too, spoke.

In a low monotone he asked in a quiet ferocity.  "Is there something we need to do, today?"

Yoko shook her head, even though she knew Phineas couldn't see it. "Classes are suspended for the next few days..." she said, not bothering to mention the reason why. "Though that doesn't mean you can't practice or study, but under the current circomstances, I doubt we'll see much of either for awhile," she said, her voice falling into a sad tone.

Phineas felt a knot in his throat as he swallowed hard.  Suspended for the next few days....  He hated...he loathed himself for being so weak, so fragile.  People die every day.  Maybe it was-.  No.  It wasn't. 

"Andy didn't deserve to die!"  Phineas raged, not aware that while thinking furiously in his mind, that the words slipped out.

Yoko's hand twitched slightly with a yellow aura, but quickly subsided. "No one deserves to die, Phineas Williams," she said in an adult like tone. "Sadly, it happens more than we think it does, while we are living here in this academy, learning and being taught how to defend ourselves, countless others are dieing to war and famine, not to mention to those who would actually harm us despite our age," she said.

She sighed slightly and turned away from Phineas. "It's almost six thirty, you two should get something to eat, then report into your teacher, if only so she'll have a general count on who's up," Yoko said, but didn't move after she was done. She noticed that Rin was partially asleep, but knew the young girl had heard her words clearly.

Phineas slowly stood, his cane loosely in his hands.  He swept past Yoko and went straight to his teacher.  He wasn't hungry, hadn't felt like eating anything for a while now.  In class, he sullenly sat, his eyes glazed over as the teacher commented on and on about this and that or another.

Even that wasn't clear for Phineas as the rest of the day past in a blur.  All he was aware of was his current thoughts, everything else was out of focus.

Three Days Later

The sun slowly rose, as Phineas stirred.  It had been a sleepless night again, as he sat up.  Rubbing his eyes, he slowly got out of bed, going straight to his dresser.  It was Andy's...Andy's funeral today.  Phineas paused, not wanting to change.  If he changed, then that meant he accepted something he didn't want to accept.  He stood there, for at least ten minutes, merely staring.  But finally, after a sigh, he opened his drawers and took out a suit.

Rin sighed and stared out the window of the living room, looking out at the school buildings in the distant. She was frustrated, not to mention still sad after what happened three days ago. She glanced toward the room that her and her twin sister, along with Sakura, were using. Sakura still wasn't back at the dorm, when Rin had asked why, she was told that Sakura was distraught and somewhat paniced at what happened and thus couldn't see anyone at the moment. That, and she was told that Yoko was trying to help calm Sakura down.

She shook her head, and turned her attention back to the distant building, and the dark clouds that hung in the air. "I guess today will be a cloudy day, perhaps it's for the best.. considering what today is..." Rin said, and looked down. She wore a typical dress, nothing like her uniform though, the dress held a more - symbolic apperance.
