He looked around to see if any of the children would get up; but none rose. He turned around and headed into a void before disappearing from the campus grounds.

Valkrie slowly rose to his feet; he looked at the dead students, but showed no emotion at their deaths and instead walked away.

One day later

The Elder was furious. "I TOLD YOU NOT TO ATTACK THE INTRUDER!" he shouted at the top of his lungs at Valkrie, who stood a few feet from his desk. "Because of your arrogent actions you let twenty of your fellow students DIE! And yet you didn't bother to check if any of them were possibly alive!"

Valkrie just stood there; staring at the Elder. His had a look of 'whatever' on his face, he didn't feel like listening any further to the elder and instead turned around. "Stop right there boy..." The elder scowled, but Valkrie left his office, leaving the elder speechless.

Valkyrie walked out of the office, and turning many corriders until finding an empty lab room. Entering the room and locking the door with enchantments, Valkyrie barred himself from the outside world.

"They were pitiful. Each and everyone of them."

As Valkrie worked he quickly realized that much of the labs materials and spells were restricted to him; but he knew from experience that the lab on the village that over looked the academy was freely open to the students. He removed the enchantments and walked out, several teachers confronted him and, seemingly knowing what he was doing, advised him against making a spell. "You are not knowledable enough to create a spellf of power," one student said.

"And how would you know what I'm making?" Valkrie said, aggitated by the interruption.

"We know you Valkrie, and we know you are trying to create a spell of power. It can't be done, if you try and create asuch a spell you'll only cause untold amounts of destruction," the same teacher warned.

Valkrie rolled his eyes. "Only if you or any of the others were to attempt to create it. Me? No.. I can create it without any trouble, now, if you'll excuse me," he said and pushed them aside and left the room. One of the teachers was tempted to go after him but was held back by the rest.

He made his way up the path and into the village; it was silent, the previous nights attack had instilled fear into the villagers. For Phineas it was perfect, "good.. no idiots to disturb me," he said and made his way to a research building and into another lab.

In the silence of the laboratory, he concocted a very lethal enchantment. He grinned to himself. "Perfect...now, just one more ingredient..." He took out a knife and slit his finger, allowing a drop of blood into the vial. The enchantment started swirling like an agitator. Valkyrie's usual sharp eyes were lost in the sea of horror.

The room was bathed in a horror of varied color just seconds before the building exploded, sending shards of glass outward and into near by buildings, the resulting explosion enveloped the surrounding structures and also destroyed them: killing all the inhabitents.

As the mountainside turned to fire; Academy students and instructors and staff came rushing to the aid of the village. As the mage's landed near by several of them started casting water spells onto the fire, but due to the fire being fueled by chemicals that were normally stored in shielded containers, the water did little to effect it.

Valkrie was burned all over; pain coursing through his body. He crawled out from under some ceiling tiles that had fallen on him when the explosion occuried.

The Elder watched; he had noticed from time to time that Phineas's body was flintching.

Valkyrie screamed. His scream was an agonizing one. He thought his life was over by now. As another shelf hit him on top of the head, he got knocked unconscious. One of the older mages had managed to get inside and drag Valkyrie out. The memory then gets blurred as it is fowarded to a day later. The older mage is looking harshly down at Valkyrie who looked dejected, but not defeated. Valkyrie was not answering the questions properly, and the mage was harming him.

Phineas flinched each time Valkyrie got hit with the spell from the mage. His own body trembled as his body went into auto pilot as it did when his own father had beat him. He put a hand up as if to shield the invisible attacker.

The elder, who had folded his arms over his chest had now placed them to his side, he had also been observing the events unfolding and was realizing why Phineas was trying to shield himself.

Valkrie kept on being hit with spell after spell; the Elder kept on watching until he raised his hands. The older mage stopped and looked at the Elder as if asking 'why are you asking me to stop?'

"Nine.. hundred... villagers dead... all because you didn't listen to a single damn word I said," the elder said and took a step toward Valkrie. "They're blood, along with the blood of your fellow classmates are on your hands... because you continue to fail to understand our rules and why we follow them, I hear by exile you from the academy," he said and turned around. "Your own parents informed me that they have disowned you based on your actions, so you have no where to go," he said, not turning to face Valkrie.

Tear's began to appear along Valkrie's cheeks, the older mage scowled. "Now you cry.. after those you killed..." he said and brought his hand up and slapped Valkrie across the face. The Elder shook his head, "it pains me to do this.. you were a very bright student and someone I had planned on passing the academy onto in my death, but you've failed me... so I'll pass the academy along to another," he said and started his way out of the room.

Valkyrie shuddered as he stood up and shakily left the building. The memory then showed Valkyrie walking by foot to the outskirts of the city. It showed him live a desolate, and isolated life from the rest of the world until his death, a couple of years later from the group of mercenaries who came in and murdured him.

Phineas took a step back and seemed to tumble out backward from the white envelope that had enclosed them. He came out with a ragged breathing, sweating, and trembling.

The Elder closed his hand and the sphere slowly faded away. He walked over to Phineas and took the boy in his arms, he didn't say anything, for the Elder knew that the experience had already taught Phineas something important.

Phineas couldn't feel the Elder's arms close around him. His breathing shallow, his brain could still see the images flashing by in his head. Somehow, those images managed to connect to his father-the one person whom he hated. The abuse, the days he had spent stuck in his room, the struggle...

"No...No...." He whispered.

The Elder swept Phineas off his feet and carried him away. "Sasha, continue with the tour.. I'm going to take Phineas to his dorm room so he can rest," the Elder said.

Sasha just watched, she had never seen the Elder utilize his ability before, but she did know what it was called. "Memory Recap," she said, prompting Anise and Rin to look her way. "He has the ability to show people another persons past, but last I heard he can only show it to them if they have the memory, or if he has the memory," she said, folding her arms across her chest and looking at the ground.

"That would mean the Elder would've had to have been there, hmm.. how long has he been an elder?" Rin asked.

Sasha thought about Rin's question for a few seconds. "I think he became an Elder well over thirty one year's ago," Sasha said and then shrugged her shoulders. "However, I might be wrong.. it's not exactly widely known," she said and glanced over at the Valkrie plaque.

Yet still, Phineas could not feel that he was being moved. As the Elder placed the boy on the bed, he sat down on a chair next to him. He understood quite well why Phineas was having a seizure more or less. However, he could only guess as to why he had been subjected through unknown terrors. He stared down at the boy who was still shuddering, a blank look upon him.

Sasha wasn't sure what to do right now, sure she wanted to show the rest of the campus to Andy and the others, but at the same time she was concerned about something else. "L-let's continue to the garden," she finally said, breaking the ackward silence that had fallen over the group since the Elder had showed Phineas, Valkries past.

Phineas, after seizing for an estimated time of about 5 minutes stopped completely. An odd silence filled the room as his eyes cleared. He looked over to his left to see the Elder perched there, looking at him.

The Elder, to his credit, was not going to leave until he got the full story from Phineas.

Sasha silently lead the group through the remainder of the plaques and into the garden. Rows and rows of flower beds lined either side of the walkway, tended to by students and staff alike. Some beds even had Sakura trees in them which were several feet high. "This is the student garden, we students tend to our own indivisual garden. You'll be allowed to have your own as well," she said.

"I thought this was a magic school though?" Anise asked, kneeling down and taking in the pleasant aroma from a red rose.

"It is, but the head Elder feels that we can't always be learning magic, that we need to learn responsibility as well," Sasha said and looked over at Andy.

Andy had remained silent for a long time, ever since his friend had been taken away. He looked moodily down at the flowers, wondering what was happening to Phineas.

The Elder gazed down at Phineas. "Are you feeling alright?" He asked, the slightest hint of concern in his voice.

Phineas merely nodded his head and made move to get up. However, the Elder pushed him back down. Phineas looked at him quizzically. The Elder replied, "Rest. However, while you're resting, tell me your story."

"My story?" Phineas choked out.

The Elder nodded. "Yes. That flinching...when I showed you that memory. That is not usual. Of course, shock, horror, and some pain shown is guarenteed, but not as heart wrenching as yours. You must have something connected to that. Am I correct, Phineas?"

"It-...It's nothing."

The Elder sighed calmly. "On the other hand, it is everything."

"Andy," Anise said, walking up to Andy and placing her hand on his shoulder and a rose in his face. "What's wrong?" she asked calmly.

Rin did a double take when she noticed the rose in Anise's hand. Where... did she get that? Rin wondered when she examined the rose beds but found that none of them at been picked.

Andy looked up. "Oh..I..I'm just worried about Finn-...Phineas is all."

"What do you mean, it's everything?" Phineas inquired.

The Elder gazed at Phineas. "Those horrible memories might be what's suppressing the full extent of your powers."

Phineas seemed to glower at the thought. "Power isn't everything."

The Elder slowed down slightly, knowing he had insulted the boy. "I'm sorry. Let me word that differently."

"It's fine. You don't have to."

There was silence, and then the Elder spoke again.

"Phineas. You have to tell me what happened.

"If you don't, it'll make using your powers difficult. When we have magic, we have to have a clear mind, or else we'll be unable to concentrate on what goes on around us." The Elder said.

Sasha smiled. "He's in good hands," she said and placed her hand on Andy's shoulder and smiled at him. "The Elder has been around for about as long as Yoko has, he's seen a lot of students come here whom were in a lot worse shake than your friend is," she said and looked toward the dorm building.

"Uhh. Sasha-sama?" Anise said, nervously and unsure what honoric she could've used.

The girl smiled and shook her head. "Just Sasha, I'm a first year just like you," she said and turned toward Anise. "What's wrong?"

"Uhh.. I'm just wondering but... umm.. do you know what class we'll be in?" she asked.

"Well, I'm in class one for the first years. So it's possible you'll also be in the same class as me, our class is rather small with only seven people right now," Sasha said. "Anyway, is there any place you wanted me to take you? Pool, Gym? Just name it and I'll tell you if we have it," she asked, mostly to Andy though as she knew the boy was worried.

Sasha hadn't noticed it, but in the distance two boys were watching her and her new friends. "Hmmm... new kids?" one of the boys said. "They came with Ranmaru, so I'm guessing they are new.. good.. fresh meat for us to pick apart," the other grinned before the two walked away.

Something in Phineas clearly snapped apart.

"He hit me! Okay? My dad hit me! He was drunk, he didn't know what he was-"

"Phineas...you don't have to justify your father's actions. You don't have to protect him."

"I'm not...I'm not..." Phineas kept silent for a moment. "The last I saw of him, was at the park..."

Andy shrugged. "Any place where I can kick a ball around sounds good."
