WWE Over the Limit PPV Results: 5-22-11 (next three posts)

Results courtesy of PWTorch.com (direct link to Caldwell's complete report).

1 -- REY MYSTERIO vs. R-TRUTH

Truth started things off in control as the crowd chanted, "You suck, you suck." Truth then flew over the top rope when Rey pulled down the top rope. Lawler noted Truth was still thinking about his parking spot. Rey then ran off the ring apron with a head scissors take over sending Truth flying into the guardrail.

Back in the ring, Truth hung Rey upside down when he crotched him on the top turnbuckle. Truth then went to work on Rey as the crowd serenaded him with boos. Good heat on Truth early on. Of note, lots of Canucks jerseys in the crowd. Short drive across the border from Seattle to Vancouver. Truth continued to work on Rey as Cole noted the "conspiracy" against Truth, which he can relate to. Lawler, who was sounding sick, drew Cole's ire. So many raspy voices on commentary tonight. Truth then took Rey up top, where Rey countered with a bulldog/gut-buster for a close two count.

Rey then mounted some offense with kick strikes into a turnaround splash off the ropes for a two count. Rey followed with a blast kick to the face for a nearfall. Meanwhile, Booker dropped one of his favorite cliches that Rey was all over Truth like a cheap suit. Rey followed with a seated sentaun, but ate the Lie Detector off the ropes. Truth made the cover, but Rey wasn't worn down enough to take a three. Truth tried to follow with Booker's axe kick speciality, but Rey ducked and set up Truth for the 619. Truth ducked out of the ring, though, only to eat a dropkick through the ropes.

On the floor, Truth pulled a Finlay yanking Rey into the ring apron banner before clotheslining him. Mark it down at 7:17 with the first "the end is near" reference of the night, this one from Cole. Lawler continued to act like Rey was doomed, which is usually the reverse psychology that the face will win, but Truth rolled Rey into the ring and dropped him with an STO-like finisher. One, two, three and a clean win for Truth. No music for Truth, who celebrated in the corner before taking a water bottle. Truth smashed the steel water bottle over Rey's head and slowly walked out of the ring celebrating the win. Truth kept talking to himself as he left the ring with the win in hand.

WINNER: Truth at 8:12. Truth has developed into a very good, refreshing heel. Good audience involvement in the match, which was a good sign for Truth getting over as a heel. Truth's no-music intro and exit was a nice touch. (**)

2 -- Intercontinental champion WADE BARRETT vs. EZEKIEL JACKSON -- IC Title match

The announcers talked as if Zeke is looking for his first title in WWE, forgetting he won the ECW Title in the final week of WWE's version of ECW TV...from Christian. Jackson overpowered Barrett early on, easily over-powering Corre's leader. Three minutes in, Cole said he's been sitting back listening to the broadcasters and he's determined they're the most boring team ever. In the ring, Barrett finally scored some offense after tricking Zeke. Barrett rammed Zeke shoulder-first into the ringpost multiple times before delivering a knee to Jackson's head. Cole also noted he has a big surprise for Lawler tonight in Kiss My Foot. The announcers continued to bicker and crack jokes with themselves, including Cole snorting like a pig.

Barrett suddenly set up for Wasteland, but Zeke slipped out and ate a back kick to the mid-section. Barrett wanted a pumphandle slam and he connected center-ring for a two count. Jackson fought back, though, and Barrett rolled to the outside for a breather. On the apron, Zeke sent Barrett flying into the ringpost before flipping him back into the ring.

Zeke then landed a flurry of power offense into a bodyslam. And another. And a third. How about a fourth? The crowd came to life as Jackson delivered #5. A crowd pop for a bodyslam in 2011. How about six? Nope, Jackson put Barrett in the torture rack. Suddenly, Corre members Gabriel and Slater (in new gear) hit the ring to cause a DQ. Jackson then cued up the bodyslam machine before eating the Black Hole Slam from Barrett. Barrett, Gabriel, and Slater put the boots to Jackson before Barrett delivered a boot to the head to silence Jackson tonight.

WINNER: Jackson via DQ at 7:27, Barrett retains the IC Title. Okay match before the "unique" offense from Jackson at the end of the match. If WWE continues the program, they can take the title re-match to the cage to keep Corre out of the ring. (*1/2)

3 -- SIN CARA vs. CHAVO GUERRERO

The bell sounded and blue & yellow mood lighting filled the arena. It looked like a gimmick contest during a halftime show. Chavo ate a bottle-opener head scissors early on before Sin Cara dropkicked Chavo to the floor. Sin Cara then flew over the top rope with a twisting corkscrew splash on Chavo. Booker noted he's never seen someone land on their feet after a move like that. Sin Cara followed with a head scissors off the apron to the floor, continuing to wow the crowd.

Back in the ring, Sin Cara ducked a flying tackle and landed a springboard moonsault off the second turnbuckle for a two count. Chavo crawled to the corner, trying to grab a breather, then Sin Cara airballed a corner attack and ate a double knee smash from Chavo. Chavo started working over Sin Cara's left knee, trying to take away his aerial attack. That was only a temporary setback, as Sin Cara knocked Chavo to the floor and ran off the top turnbuckle with a big splash ringside. Sin Cara and Chavo got lost in the mood lighting ringside, then returned to the ring.

In the ring, Sin Cara measured Chavo for a springboard move and connected with another head scissors. Sin Cara then fired up the crowd, fired up himself, and landed multiple kick strikes on Chavo. Sin Cara then hit a springboard elbow smash into an arm drag. Next was an enziguiri kick from the ring apron into a flying cross-body for a two count. Chavo then tried to come back with a Gory Special submission, but Sin Cara countered with a quick armdrag. Sin Cara then executed a tilt-o-whirl facebuster and rolled up Chavo for the pin and the win. They didn't replay the finish during a post-match video package before Sin Cara celebrated on the way out.

WINNER: Sin Cara at 7:23. Chavo was just a tackling dummy out there taking move after move from Sin Cara, who dropped move after move in this match. The offensive display might work with a Level 1 opponent, but he'll have to advance his style as he faces stronger competition. (**)

4 -- WWE tag champions BIG SHOW & KANE vs. NEW NEXUS (C.M. PUNK & MASON RYAN) -- WWE Tag Title match

The bell sounded to begin with Kane and Ryan. There was an early "Ba-tista" chant from a few people in the audience. Hilarious. Ryan then lifted up Kane in the air for a big bodyslam. Only one? Is WWE building to a bodyslam contest between Ryan and Jackson at WrestleMania 28? Show then tagged in after Punk did, prompting Show to deliver a huge slap to the chest. Flashbacks to the Show vs. Punk feud when Punk sported the SES mask. Punk cowered in the corner, trying to cover his face, so Show adjusted his gameplan by slapping Punk across the back, drawing laughs from the crowd. Punk continued to play the under-sized heel selling for Show and Kane's size, finding himself in trouble early on. Punk came back with a kick strike to the head, then Ryan tagged in and knocked Kane to the outside.

Back in the ring, Punk and Ryan began working over Kane. Meanwhile, thunder was heard in the arena in the form of Show stomping on the ring steps to get the crowd involved rallying behind Kane. Ryan then lifted up Kane for a powerslam bouncing into the corner turnbuckle before spinning into a running powerslam center-ring for a two count. Kane came back with a boot to the gut and a suplex that cut off Ryan's momentum.

A tag was made to Punk, who cut off Kane just before tagging in Show. Punk then climbed up top, did a babyface Macho Man salute, and tried the ugliest elbow drop ever, but Kane rolled out of the way. Kane then tagged in Show as Ryan tagged in for Punk. Show ran over Ryan like a train before calling for the chokeslam. Punk found himself in the ring to break it up, then Show came back with a double clothesline. Kane then clotheslined Punk over the top rope. Ryan found himself alone in the ring to take a double chokeslam. Show with the pin for the win.

WINNERS: Show & Kane at 9:06 to retain the Tag Titles. Above-average tag match that was just a step above something you'd see on TV. Ryan taking another decisive "loss" following his double-chokeslam on Raw two weeks ago points to WWE not concerned about protecting him right now. Meanwhile, Punk's back to the drawing board with the played-out Nexus. (**)

5 -- Divas champion BRIE BELLA (w/Nikki Bella) vs. KELLY KELLY -- Divas Title match

The match started off with the basics of Kelly on the early offensive before Brie cheated to take control. It feels like a WCW Nitro match where everyone is waiting for the Kharma run-in. Kelly made her obligatory comeback, but the Bellas pulled Twin Magic to score the pin. The Bellas celebrated in the ring, then left up the stage. No sign of Kharma.

WINNER: Brie at 4:14. Kharma? No? (*)

6 -- World Hvt. champion RANDY ORTON vs. CHRISTIAN -- World Hvt. Title match

The bell sounded and the crowd was already hot, creating a big-fight feel. Christian scored a quick roll-up for a two count to put a scare in Orton 30 seconds in. Booker went nuts with a cruise control analogy on Christian that veered off course. Christian scored another early nearfall before accepting a back-elbow smash. Orton tried to follow up, but Christian back-dropped him over the top rope to the floor. Christian followed with a baseball slide kick through the ropes.

On the floor, Christian landed a slap to the face before rolling Orton back into the ring. The crowd remained hot with dueling chants for Christian and Orton. In the ring, Christian delivered a bodyslam before applying a reverse chinlock. Orton escaped, but Christian re-applied before Orton escaped again and delivered a standing dropkick. The match moved up top (there was a visible Broski sign in the background), where Orton delivered a superplex that Booker labeled a giant suplex. Orton was slow to make a cover, allowing Christian to kick out in time.

"Randy, Randy" chant from the crowd as Orton measured Christian for a European uppercut, then another. Orton tried a third, but Christian countered with a backslide for a two count. Booker demanded Mathews call the winner right here, but Mathews said he's split. Christian then delivered a spinebuster on Orton out of nowhere for a two count. 6:30 in and this is already the best match of the PPV. Orton and Christian then came to their feet trading bombs. Big "yays" for Christian.

Christian delivered a reverse DDT for a two count, then clenched his fists looking for the audience to rally behind him. Christian tried a top rope move, but Orton countered with a jackknife pin attempt for a nearfall. Orton then cut off Christian's momentum with an uppercut. He tried to follow with an Angle Slam, but Christian countered with an armdrag. More counters. Christian then climbed up top and delivered a diving headbutt clear across the ring for a close two count that drew gasps from the crowd.

Both men collapsed to the mat selling the effects at 9:00. "Christian, Christian" chant as Christian was the first man up. Orton then caught Christian with a fallaway backbreaker for a close two count of his own. Orton slowly scooped up Christian for more offense, then both men countered each other's finishers. Orton suddenly busted out a reverse Boston Crab center-ring. Orton used his legs to pull Christian back to center-ring as Christian cried out in pain. The crowd was hot for the teased finish before Christian made the ropes for a break. Christian literally ate the bottom rope as he cried out in pain.

"Let's go Christian" chant as Orton stood over Christian, pacing the ring. Orton focused on Christian's back, then Christian teased a turnaround splash from the second rope that made Orton flinch with the RKO. Christian then delivered the turnaround move into a sunset flip for a close two count. That was such a great flinch sequence. Suddenly, Orton countered a move from the apron into the classic spike DDT. Orton with the cover, but Christian kicked out in time. Orton sold frustration not being able to put away Christian.

At 13:20, Orton started looking around the arena before dropping down to center-ring to start pounding the mat looking to set up the RKO. Orton tried it, but Christian threw him off. Christian then called for the crowd and suddenly entered another world. Christian called for the spear and backed into the corner looking to deliver for Edge. Orton was slow to get up as the crowd was hot. Orton then countered the spear into a classic Orton snap powerslam. Orton with the cover, but Christian kicked out.

The two men paused to rebuild the heat before Orton got that crazy look in his eyes. Orton stood over Christian, then backed away to the opposite corner. Orton measured Christian for the Punt, but he was conflicted. Orton sold not wanting to end Christian's career, then he tried the Punt anyways, only to have Christian counter with a spear. Christian made a rapid cover, but Orton kicked out just in time. Wow. Christian flipped out, unable to finish off Orton.

Christian then measured Orton for the Killswitch, but Orton shoved Christian away. He tried the RKO, but Christian blocked. More counters. Suddenly, Orton back-flipped over Christian and delivered the decisive blow with an RKO center-ring. Orton made the cover and it was good for the win. Booker doubled the match time, saying it was about 30 minutes of great match action.

Post-match: Orton celebrated with the World Title belt before posing in the corner. Orton started to leave the ring, but walked back over to Christian to help him up. Christian shoved him away, though. Christian then returned to the ring and got right in his face. Christian wiped his head and extended his hand. They shook hands before Christian slipped out of the ring. Orton stared him down as Christian slowly walked away holding his head in frustration. Christian continued to stand ringside as Orton posed in the ring. Back to Christian, who sold despair as Orton contemplated the match in the ring. The camera followed Christian all the way to the stage where he disappeared to the back. They cut back to Orton continuing to stare into the arena.

WINNER: Orton at 16:50. Wow, what a match. There's a new WWE Match of the Year contender with the strength of the story. Great counters, including that terrific RKO flinch spot playing off their first match, and a great story told incorporating Edge's involvement, two men's desire to be World champion, and the Smackdown story focused on tension and respect. 7 -- JERRY LAWLER vs. MICHAEL COLE -- Kiss My Foot match -- Lawler's Hall of Fame ring on the line

Lawler began ripping up Cole's cheap suit, then Cole slipped to the outside and begged off. He suckered in Lawler, who ate the ring steps. Cole then sent Lawler flying into the guardrail. Cole began taking off his shoes before removing his right sock to reveal the nasty right foot enhanced for visual grossness. The ref sold he was going to vomit, then Lawler simply threw Cole into the Cole Mine, breaking it into pieces. Lawler proceeded to roll Cole into the ring before delivering a fist drop. Lawler made the cover and it was over in three minutes.

WINNER: Lawler at 3:01. That was kept much shorter than at WrestleMania. The post-match that followed was the payoff people were looking for...

Post-match: Lawler rubbed his hands together before starting to untie his boot. Lawler paused, saying he had something else in mind. Lawler started waving to the back and out came Eve. Mathews noted Cole has no respect for the Divas. Eve delivered a moonsault, then Lawler surveyed Cole once again. Lawler wasn't done. Cue up Boomer Sooner to bring out Jim Ross dressed in a suit. Ross surveyed the situation, then pulled out a bottle of JR's BBQ sauce. Ross made sure the product was displayed for the audience, then he poured a full bottle all over Cole's face. Cole, with his pants ripped and face covered in BBQ sauce, scurried out of the ring. Lawler noted Cole still hadn't kissed his foot.

"Not like this!" Cole shouted. Ross, Eve, and Lawler stood in the ring as Cole stood on the stage. Cole took a mic and said it may look like he lost tonight, but he didn't lose. He claimed he's not a loser. He growled that Lawler and Ross are losers. All the idiots in the crowd are losers. Cole said no matter what any of them do to him, he never did and never will kiss Lawler's foot. Cole dropped the mic and shouted no way.

Suddenly, Bret Hart's theme music hit to a huge reaction. Hart slowly walked out on-stage behind Cole, who started backing down the entrance ramp. Cole tried shaking hands with Hart, who threw Cole into the ring. Hart measured Cole in the ring and stepped into the Sharpshooter. Cole begged and begged before Lawler made Cole eat his right foot as BBQ sauce dripped down from Cole's forehead. Hart and Lawler hugged as Cole dragged himself across the ring. Mathews noted it was vindication for Lawler "and others" tonight. Cole continued to gasp for air before they went to a slow-motion replay of Cole eating Lawler's foot. The saliva just looked nasty in HD.

8 -- WWE champion JOHN CENA vs. THE MIZ (w/Alex Riley) -- WWE Title match -- I Quit match

The bell sounded and Miz quickly took the mic. Miz said one of them has to say, "I Quit" tonight. Wait, Miz just said, "I quit." The match should be over now. Miz noted Riley can also get involved since there are no rules. Miz told Cena to save himself the embarrassment and just quit right now. Cena tried to sell concern faced with this proposition of dealing with Riley. The ref asked Cena, who responded, "Hell no." Cue up the virtual handicap match.

The crowd started the dueling chants with kids/families pro-Cena and the deep-throated voices anti-Cena. Cena quickly went for the Five Knuckle Shuffle on Miz and delivered. Miz countered the Attitude Adjustment with the Reality Check, though. Miz then tried the Skullcrushing Finale, but Cena countered with the AA. Riley then entered the ring and blasted Cena with the briefcase. Riley landed more blows. The sound effects sounded like a plastic toy. Miz and Riley then combined on a double-team powerbomb from the second turnbuckle. Cena wasn't quitting that easily.

The match moved to the floor, where Miz and Riley rammed Cena back-first into the guardrail. Cena twice told the ref he wasn't quitting. Next, Cena ate the exposed guardrail in front of the timekeeper. Wanna quit? "Nope," Cena said nonchalantly. Next, Miz and Riley used TV monitors to bash Cena. No quit in Cena. Cena suddenly fought back, but Miz reversed a whip into the ring steps. Ross with a classic call on Miz's physical dissection. Miz followed with a DDT onto the ring steps. Miz yanked the mic from the ref and screamed at Cena to say it. Nothing from Cena. Miz then told Cena Riley has the steel steps and he's going to slam them into Cena's...ribs. He suggested Cena quit. "Go to hell," Cena told him. Riley then dropped the steps down onto Cena. No quit in him, though.

At 9:00, Miz and Riley hung Cena in the ropes before Miz retrieved a Kendo stick. Miz shushed the crowd before noting to Cena he has a weapon. He gave him an opportunity to not have so much pain put upon him. Cena breathed heavily before telling Miz, "You hit like a girl." Miz proceeded to crack the stick over Cena's body. Ross said Miz was going Ichiro on Cena. Nice. Cena cried out in pain, but wouldn't quit. Miz sold he was stunned by this. Miz then went to town on Cena, who tried to cover his body. Cena cried out in pain, but wouldn't quit.

Next, Miz and Riley dragged Cena up the entrance ramp to inflict more punishment. Miz landed sort of a mini-Orton punt that sent Cena about two feet off the edge of the ramp to the floor below. Cena caught his breath, looked around, heard the cries from the fans, and said he wouldn't quit. Booker said he was delirious. He said it's up to Miz to find Cena's breaking point. Miz then retrieved a strap and asked Cena if he wants to quit. Cena told him he might have a strap, but no nuts. Miz landed some weak-sounding strap shots across Cena's back as he was draped over a camera crane. Cena grimaced, but wouldn't quit.

Cena suddenly made a comeback, but Miz cut him off with a steel chair across the back. The match its way back into the ring where Cena teased another comeback, but Riley cut him off this time and the ref was bumped in the process. Miz then placed a chair in-between the second and top rope. He measured Cena with the Skullcrushing Finale into the chair, but kind of kicked the chair in the execution of the SCF, so it wasn't as smooth. Miz asked Cena if he wanted to quit, but no dice.

Miz said maybe Cena needs to hear it from someone else. He asked some kid on the front row. He said he doesn't want to see Cena take any more punishment, but he would never tell him to quit. "Not any day," the kid nervously said. Miz popped Cena in the head with the mic, then cut a promo on the kid again. Miz vowed to not stop until Cena says he quits. The kid just shrugged his shoulders. Another kid told Miz to quit first. Riley reprimanded the other kid for interrupting the bit. Miz then popped Cena in the head with the mic again.

Miz proceeded to trap Cena inside the exposed guardrail ringside. Miz vowed to bash this here steel chair over Cena's body non-stop until he quits. The crowd was quiet as Miz talked up the beating he had delivered so far. Miz told Cena to say the magic words. Cena said those kids are smarter than he is. No response from the crowd. Miz then bashed the guardrail to make it look like he hit Cena. Riley told Cena to say it. Suddenly, the recorded voice of John Cena played, saying he quit. The ref woke up and declared Miz the winner. Mathews acted dumb about the obvious recording.

WINNER: Miz at 23:11 to capture the WWE Title before the decision was reversed...

The ref went to retrieve the WWE Title belt, but found a recording on the floor. Ref Chioda waved off the decision, then entered the ring and played the recording as Miz complained about Chioda screwing him again. Chioda called for the bell and the match re-started. Cena ducked a belt shot that creamed Miz. Cena then gave Riley the AA through the announce table.

Cena collected himself, spotted Miz on the floor, then took off his belt. Cena proceeded to whip Miz with his belt. Miz ran all the way up the ramp and to the back. Cena quickly dragged him back to the stage, though, and put Miz in the STF on the stage. After a few moments, Miz weakly whispered, "I quit," and the ref declared Cena the winner. Cena retains.

After the match, Cena leaned against one of the cars on the stage before receiving the WWE Title belt. Cena stumbled over, selling the effects of the match. After a replay of the high points, Ross recapped the match. Cena celebrated on the stage and Ross noted Cena took it to new heights tonight. They went back to a replay of Riley playing Cena's voice recording for the false finish before showing Cena making his big comeback to ultimately win. Ross then signed off 51 minutes past the top of the hour as Cena celebrated with the title to conclude the PPV.

WINNER: Cena at 24:52 of total time to retain the WWE Title. Hit or miss type of TV match applied to long-form PPV match length. The goal was to make Miz seem like a more formidable and credible heel delivering punishment to Cena, and that was hit & miss as well. At the end of the day, the story will probably turn to more tension between Miz and Riley, then Cena likely moving on to a feud with Del Rio. They might try to squeeze out one more title match between Cena and Miz, but it's definitely time to move on. Hard match to rate, as it was more of an angle than a match. (**)

WWE RAW Results: 5-23-11

Results courtesy of PWTorch.com (direct link to Caldwell's complete report). Condensed here to mostly in-ring results.

1 -- WWE tag champions KANE & BIG SHOW vs. MICHAEL MCGILLICUTTY & DAVID OTUNGA (w/C.M. Punk and Mason Ryan) -- WWE Tag Title match

Punk and Mathews reminisced about when Punk was on-commentary on Raw earlier this year. Mathews tried to quiz Punk on losing the Tag Title match last night, but Punk heeled on him to stop asking questions. Lawler re-asked the question and Punk claimed a 120 degree fever. Nexus couldn't get much momentum going on Show and Kane early on. Show then got to Mike with big open-handed slaps to the chest. Show dumped Mike to the outside and they cut to break with Nexus trying to regroup ringside.

Back from break, Nexus was working over Kane in their corner. Mathews noted Ryan was standing over Punk's shoulder, prompting Punk to tell Mathews he's terrible. Punk also noted he's in the main event tonight, which is exactly where he should be. The action continued to progress at a snail's pace with the Nexus scrubs working over Kane. Kane eventually smashed Otunga with a big boot and crawled over to Show for a tag as Mike also tagged in. Punk said he's not worried and has faith. Show devoured Mike, then Mason Ryan tried to get involved. The ref was distracted during this. Punk then hit a kick on Show from the ring apron. Mike and Otunga followed with a double DDT on Show and made the cover for the win. New tag champs. Punk quickly gathered up the troops to head for higher ground as Show woke up and threw a fit in the ring.

WINNERS: Nexus at 8:59 to capture the Tag Titles. Blah match with the belts now on a blah, inexperienced team. At least it puts Punk in the spotlight leading a team with gold, but WWE has to rebuild the tag division for this to mean something. (*)

+ Big Show gets run over by a car. Looks like he gets a vacation.

2 -- EVAN BOURNE vs. JACK SWAGGER

The bell sounded and Swagger went to work on Bourne, trying to ground him. Reinforcing this as filler, Mathews plugged the Kmart Live Event Tour and Lawler talked about a shopping trip to Kmart. Swagger continued to work over Bourne before missing with a Vader Bomb. Bourne then fired back with kick strikes, then tried a roll-up for a close two count. Bourne tried to follow with a big huracanrana, but Swagger countered into a big gutwrench powerbomb that bounced Bourne's neck off the mat. Swagger with the pin for the win.

Post-match: Swagger did his victory lap dancing around Bourne for a while. It looked like another lost week for Bourne, who suddenly popped to his feet and smashed Swagger with a surprise kick to the face. Bourne then scrammed out of the ring, drawing Swagger's ire. Swagger told Bourne to come back and get some more.

WINNER: Swagger at 2:08. For Swagger, this came across like the Samoa Joe booking on Impact: one step forward with the squash win, then one step backward in the post-match. At least Bourne was able to save face, but the whole segment was a wash, especially being presented as filler. (*)

+ Michael Cole comes out and apologizes to the world and slinks back to the announcers table.

+ Miz fires Alex Riley, who then proceeds to beat the crap out of his now former boss. From WWE Champ to jobbing to Alex...poor Miz.

3 -- KELLY KELLY & EVE & GAIL KIM & BETH PHOENIX vs. Divas champion BRIE BELLA & NIKKI BELLA & MELINA & MARYSE -- eight-Divas tag match

Is Kharma going to wipe out the entire Divas division in one match? What brand is Phoenix even on? Kelly started things off and, 25 seconds into the match, Kharma's music played. Beth stepped to the front of the line for a shot at Kharma, who slowly entered the ring. Kharma eventually walked to the middle of the ring and the eight Divas circled around the ring. Kharma surveyed the scene, then dropped to her knees and started sobbing. The other Divas weren't sure how to react. WWE stayed with Kharma crying for a while, then eventually faded to commercial.

WINNERS: No Decision at 4:13, 0:25 of match action. Um... Is this is part of the anti-bullying deal? Or, Kharma just has enochlophobia?

4 -- U.S. champion KOFI KINGSTON vs. DREW MCINTYRE -- non-title match

Mathews randomly inserted a line about Kofi being like WWE's version of Derrick Rose. Lawler and Cole were stunned by this comment. Cole said Rose was the MVP of the NBA, as if Kingston isn't even close. Lawler complained about Rose costing Memphis their college basketball accolades. Suddenly, Kofi's knee crashed down on McIntyre's head and Mac followed up by working over the knee. Kofi, hobbling around, made a comeback and told the crowd to rally behind him.

Kofi limped into the Boom Drop, then called for the end. Kingston couldn't spin on his bad knee to deliver Trouble in Paradise, so Mac kicked him in the head for a two count only. Mac then almost dropped Kofi on his head before executing a running powerbomb for a cover and a nearfall. The crowd was quiet, seemingly taken out of the action by an apparent injury and Mac's awkward offense. Kofi suddenly ducked a clothesline and executed his SOS drop for the pin and the win. Kofi went back to selling the knee. They suddenly cut to a shot of Vickie Guerrero and Dolph watching the match on a backstage monitor. Kofi celebrated with the title belt to conclude the match.

WINNER: Kingston at 4:24. This is where WWE needs enhancement matches to build credibility for their potential rising stars. No one takes McIntyre (or Ziggler) seriously, then Mac losing to a one-legged man reinforced why no one should take him seriously. The match itself was just off. (3/4*)

5 -- WWE champion JOHN CENA & REY MYSTERIO vs. R-TRUTH & C.M. PUNK -- Bret Hart special referee

Cena and Truth started things off and Cena quickly dumped Truth to the floor. Truth and Punk regrouped ringside as Hart applied a ten count. They cut to break 45 seconds in with Hart at four.

Back from break, PunkSavage was landing elbow smashes on Cena in the corner. Cena then came back with a bulldog and fisherman suplex. Punk then hid behind Hart to slow down Cena, who was caught in a double heel trap. Truth tagged in to wear down Cena before hip-thrusting to the crowd. The crowd started a dueling chant for Cena leading to the top of the hour.

Cole reset the show and claimed it's been a huge night on Raw. The heels continued to make covers and Hart started slowing down his count. Punk was greet heeling on Hart, who made another slow count after Punk landed an elbow drop. Cena teased a tag to Rey, but Punk pulled Cena back to the heel corner to continue isolating him. Cena called a spot in the corner, then teased another comeback, but Punk cut him off. Punk smiled at Hart and teased the Sharpshooter, but Cena blocked, then hit a DDT moments later.

Cena made the hot tag to Rey, who went after Punk with trademark offense. Cole noted their history, then Rey blasted Punk in the head with a kick strike. The action completely broke down and Truth hit Paydirt on Cena. Suddenly, Rey smashed Truth to the ropes for the 619, but Punk intercepted Rey, only to have Rey counter with the 619. Hart then punched Punk and stepped into the Sharpshooter. Cole re-entered Heel Cole mode at this point. Punk, locked in the Sharpshooter, took the springboard leg drop from Rey and it was good for the win.

Post-match: Cole noted Bret Hart has just ruined the last 24 hours of his life. Cena, Hart, and Rey did a curtain call before they went to a replay of Rey and Hart doubling up on Punk to get the win. They went to a slow-mo replay of Cena leaping in the air to celebrate. Mathews said it was a feel-good moment for everyone. Mathews signed off, with no hook for next week's Raw. Cena and Rey continued posing and they stayed with it for a bit before ending the show six minutes past the top of the hour.

WINNERS: Cena & Rey at 9:44. Exactly what Mathews said it was supposed to be: feel-good moment for the audience to conclude the show. They curiously didn't provide a hook for next week or re-focus on the heels after the match. And, with Punk reportedly being next in-line to feud with Cena, WWE protected Truth over Punk, who took the fall in the match. Cena vs. Truth could be a really, really strong & refreshing title feud if WWE goes that away after Truth owned Cena on the mic in the opening segment. (**)

FINAL THOUGHTS: Up and down show. Some of the mic work was really strong (Truth, Miz, and Hart) and the Miz-Riley blow-up could lead to big things for both if handled correctly. However, the match action was weak or inconsequential and the mid-card continues to be lost in the shuffle. There's no sense of upward mobility for anyone below Truth right now. Then, there's the booking of Kharma, which was completely bizarre in a head-scratching way.

Kharma is pregnant

Nothing like setting her up to run all over the Divas then find out she has to be pulled for at least 9 months.

WWE NXT Results: 5-24-11

Results courtesy of PWTorch.com (direct link to Caldwell's complete report). Condensed here to in-ring results only.

1 -- BYRON SAXTON & YOSHI TATSU vs. LUCKY CANNON & TYSON KIDD

Yoshi and Cannon picked up their feud starting this match off. Yoshi scored a few early nearfalls, then Kidd tagged in for Lucky to work on Yoshi. Kidd eventually knocked Yoshi to the floor and Cannon landed a cheap shot. Saxton was dismayed with his Pro's performance as they cut to break.

[Break]

Back live, Section 106 got some airtime over Saxton's shoulder as he awaited a tag. It wasn't coming, as the heels continued to work over Yoshi, who tried to fight out of the heel corner. This went on for a good number of minutes before Yoshi shoved Cannon to the mat from the top turnbuckle and landed a top-rope spinning heel kick. Saxton acted as if he were begging for a tag, but pulled his hand away at the last second and stared down Yoshi.

Kidd tagged in during the subsequent stare-down and Kidd and Yoshi went to work on each other. Yoshi, fired up, cleaned house and nailed a spin kick for the apparent win, but Kidd kicked out in time. Saxton suddenly blind-tagged himself into the match and Yoshi shoved him down. That put Saxton right in the Sharpshooter from Kidd. Yoshi stood on the floor and watched as Saxton begged for help, but Yoshi remained on the floor and Saxton was forced to tap out.

Post-match: Yoshi continued to stare at Saxton with hands-on-hips as Saxton sold frustration with the turn of events. Regal said Saxton needs to learn a lesson here. After a replay of the finish, Saxton screamed at Yoshi, telling him he ruined his career. Saxton slapped Yoshi, who responded with a KO roundhouse kick to the head. "Yoshi, Yoshi" chant as Saxton sold being knocked out in the ring. Regal made it sound like Saxton is in trouble next week for the elimination.

WINNERS: Kidd & Cannon at 8:53. Quite possibly the most intriguing match this season. Yoshi is really adding another layer of depth to his character and Saxton showed good fire on the mic and in his limited role. Well done.

2 -- JTG vs. CONOR O'BRIAN (w/Kozlov)

Before the match, they replayed last week's dance-off routine by Kozlov and O'Brian. Regal said it reminded him of hanging out with Arn Anderson at a night club in Chicago. JTG was not amused having to watch a replay of last week's shenanigans. O'Brian quickly went to work on JTG as Regal continued to ask why he's even here. Grisham said he has no idea why; he just does an average job calling the matches. JTG then knocked O'Brian to the floor and followed with a baseball slide kick through the ropes.

JTG continued to wear down O'Brian while playing to the crowd and Kozlov. And a little for Regal. That one cost JTG, who suddenly walked into a small package from O'Brian for the win. Grisham noted JTG dominated the entire time, but took his eye off the ball. After the match, JTG cleaned O'Brian's clock, but Kozlov headbutted him to the outside. JTG continued to sell shock ringside before they went to a replay of the events.

WINNER: O'Brian at 3:53. O'Brian continues to just take up space in the ring, while JTG showed a little fire in the post-match to warrant giving him a spot in the ring on this show.

3 -- TITUS O'NEIL vs. DARREN YOUNG (w/Chavo Guerrero) -- No DQ match

Grisham said it's the first-ever No DQ match on NXT. Young tried to run away once the bell hit, but Titus dragged him back into the ring. "You wanna be a bully?!" Titus shouted in Young's face while working on him in the corner. Titus then slapped on an abdominal stretch center-ring and tried to choke the life out of him. Young fought out, but Titus knocked him over the top rope to the floor. On the outside, Young got up-close-and-personal with Regal taking multiple blows into the announce table. Titus chucked Young back into the ring, but Chavo kicked Titus from behind to attack the ribs. They suddenly cut to break.

Back live, Young rammed Titus into the ring apron to focus on the ribs. Young threw Titus back into the ring and Chavo shouted some instructions his way. They cut back to the locker room where Hornswoggle didn't like what he was seeing. Young got too cocky and ate the ring ropes when Titus ducked an attack. Titus then mounted a comeback until Chavo hit the ring to beat down Titus. The crowd was into this, wanting Hornswoggle to make the save. Chavo then went under the ring and retrieved a chain. They cut back to the locker room where Hornswoggle saw the chain, had enough, put on his fighting gear, and left the locker room.

Back live in the ring, Chavo teased some chain shots on Titus until Hornswoggle charged the ring and distracted the heels to set up Titus's comeback. Titus used Hornswoggle as a battering room, then dropped Young with his Clash of Titus big sky-high bomb. Titus wasn't done and put Young in the corner to take a Tadpole Splash from Hornwoggle. Titus with the pin and the win. Regal said even an old villain like him has a smile seeing Chavo and Young get their comeuppance. Grisham said even a cold heart like his can be warmed. They replayed the finish of the match, including a slow-motion replay of the Tadpole Splash. Titus and Swoggle celebrated in the ring as Young retreated up the ramp selling disdain for their existence. Grisham noted next week's elimination as the show wrapped up.

WINNER: Titus at 8:19. The anti-bullying message lives on...according to how WWE defines it. Fine payoff to last week's storyline and it sets up Young to potentially be eliminated next week, although I still believe O'Brian should be the next to go.

TMZ reports - handgun discovered at crash scene, Savage funeral notes including "last wish"

Quote
-- TMZ reports a "powerful handgun" was found in Randy Savage's Jeep at the time of his car crash last Friday, but Savage had a permit to carry the gun.

According to Savage's brother, Lanny Poffo, the gun was properly registered and Savage used it for target shooting, which was a new hobby he picked up.

Lanny says he wasn't surprised to find out the gun was in Savage's vehicle at the time of the car crash because "Randy and his wife were so passionate about the hobby."

-- A private ceremony for Randy Savage was held Tuesday at his Florida home. Savage's ashes were spread at the base of a tree next to his deceased dog, Hercules, according to a report by TMZ on Wednesday.

An item TMZ noted is Savage's "last wish" was that the iconic "Pomp & Circumstance" music he used for his ring entrance not be used at his funeral.

According to Lanny Poffo, Savage felt "extremely guilty" in recent years for using the song because his wrestling idol growing up, Gorgeous George, used it. Lanny noted Savage felt he stole George's thunder.

Lanny told TMZ that Savage's close friends and family members are scheduled to meet up on Thursday to "continue to mourn and honor Savage's memory."

Although not noted in TMZ's report, Savage was working on a significant Gorgeous George project at the time of his death. WWE is also working on a Gorgeous George movie and potential DVD release.

WWE Superstars Results: 5-26-11

Results courtesy of PWTorch.com (direct link to Caldwell's complete report). Condensed her to in-ring results only. YouTube link to this week's episode of WWE Superstars can be found at Neo-Geo Forum: Official WWE Thread Post #11,381 (click video picture to play)

1 -- SANTINO vs. ZACK RYDER

Nunzio is the referee for this bout. Ryder began the match by posing for Santino, who then did a comical posedown. Ryder with an early take-down before he fist-pumped in Santino's face. Santino mock applauded, then told him to bring it. Santino with an arm drag leading to the trumpet celebration. Ryder then went old-school with a Test of Strength challenge. Santino took the bait and ate a boot to the gut. Ryder followed with a shoulder tackle before he did the trumpet celebration. Santino came back with a Cobra tease, which sent Ryder scurrying to the ring apron.

Back to center-ring, they traded playful slaps before Ryder smashed Santino to the mat. Santino got up and sold immense anger with this development. Mathews noted Santino is one of the "most resourceful" Superstars he's ever seen. Santino then warmed up the Cobra and struck Ryder on the leg. Ryder sold as if he received temporary paralysis in his leg. This would fit right in with Chikara. Santino then went all the way up top, thought it over, comically stepped down to the bottom rope, fell down, and ate an elbow smash from Ryder.

Ryder resumed control of the match trying to wear down Santino with a reverse chinlock. Ryder tried to follow with a corner Broski Boot, but Santino moved and Ryder ate the bottom turnbuckle. Santino got that look in his eyes and warmed up the Cobra for a decisive strike. Santino with the pin for the win.

WINNER: Santino at 5:31. That was something else. It's definitely worth checking out if you're in the mood for comedy wrestling.

2 -- JTG vs. CURT HAWKINS

Basic back-and-forth early on. Stanford randomly said JTG is looking for a shot at the U.S. Title held by Kofi Kingston. That would require actually making it to Raw TV once in a while. Hawkins took control before they cut to break.

Back from break, Hawkins and JTG traded pin attempts before Hawkins resumed control while carrying himself in his usual cocky manner. JTG teased a comeback following a high back-body drop, then fired himself up and went for the Mug Shot, but Hawkins yanked him down to the mat for a two count. "Just quit!" Hawkins shouted down at JTG. Hawkins then yanked JTG across the top rope when JTG made a last-ditch effort. With JTG in position, Hawkins went up top to deliver a heat-seeking elbow drop for the pin and the win.

WINNER: Hawkins at 8:48. Basic TV singles match.

3 -- TYSON KIDD (w/Armando Estrada) vs. TRENT BARRETA

The bell sounded and the two men went back-and-forth at a rapid pace. Korpela said he's not sure why Kidd feels the need to audition managers each week. Korpela then brought up Armando's previous run being part of ECW when Striker was on the show. Barreta scored some offense that put Kidd in trouble, then Armando hopped on the ring apron. Barreta took a quick look at Armando, allowing Kidd to knock him to the floor. Armando put the boots to Barreta behind the ref's back as they cut to break.

Back on the show, Kidd continued to work on Barreta after the pre-break help. Striker said he thinks Kidd is misguided looking for managers when he needs a high-profile agent to help him acquire bigger matches and handle his affairs. Barreta teased a comeback with chops and an enziguiri before climbing up top for a springboard missile dropkick. Barreta made a cover, but only scored a two count. Barreta sold a right knee injury, which Kidd tried to take advantage of, but Barreta came back with a knee smash for a two count.

Kidd rolled to the outside for a breather and Barreta tried a baseball slide kick, but Kidd cut him off. He went up top and landed the Move of the Week - a top-rope elbow smash - but Barreta kicked out. Kidd followed with a Sharpshooter attempt targeting the lower back and injured knee, but Barreta made it to the ropes for a break. Barreta teased another comeback, but Kidd cut him off and landed a Fisherman Buster for the pin and the win.

Post-match: Kidd celebrated in the ring before Armando took the mic. He said what they have just witnessed is what happens when athletic excellence meets superb intellect. Armando flashed his trademark eyes for the hard camera before the heels shared a hearty laugh. After a replay of the high points, Armando noted he's found himself a winner. Striker told the audience to tune in next week to find out.

WINNER: Kidd at 9:30. Fine main event with some good nearfalls and counters during the second-half of the match. Armando was solid in the role as a toned-down businessman compared to being way over-the-top during his previous run. Kidd's quest for a manager is an interesting little story to follow each week on Superstars.

TNA Impact Wrestling Results: 5-26-11

Results courtesy of PWTorch.com (direct link to Caldwell's complete report). Condensed here to in-ring results only.

1 -- A.J. STYLES & DANIELS vs. TOMMY DREAMER & BULLY RAY -- No DQ Street Fight

The fight broke out ringside before Styles and Daniels could even make it to the ring. The fight went into the stands, where Styles flew off the grandstands onto Dreamer. In the ring, Daniels started throwing various weapons into the ring. Daniels landed a trashcan lid shot to the head. And again. And a third. And a fourth. And fifth. Ray then took a face-first Flair dive into the lid before begging off. Styles and Dreamer eventually made it into the ring to pick up the battle. Dreamer eventually cut off Styles and helped Ray target the neck. Styles then made a comeback with a kendo stick shot to the head. Styles and Daniels then dropped Dreamer with a spike piledriver for the pin and the win.

WINNERS: Styles & Daniels at 5:02. Really? Weapons and head shots? TNA does these matches so often that it feels like they're trying to squeeze whatever juice is left out of a Xerox of the '90s. Let it go. This would have meant a lot more if TNA didn't do this type of match so often. The end-result came across like Dreamer getting his comeuppance, which you would think would occur on the PPV, but we'll see where this goes.

2 -- JEFF JARRETT (w/Karen Jarrett) vs. MATT MORGAN

Morgan quickly used his size to bring an attack to Jeff as Karen wiped her forehead selling concern for her man. Morgan avoided a corner attack and smashed Jeff head-first into the turnbuckle. Morgan missed with a corner boot, though, and Jeff began working on the left leg. Jeff then tried a cross-body, but Morgan caught him in mid-air for an overhead slam. Karen hobbled to ringside during this as Morgan scored another nearfall. With ref Hebner occupied, Karen slipped the crutch to Jeff, who blasted Morgan with it. Jarrett hit The Stroke, but Morgan surprised everyone by kicking out of Jeff's finisher.

After the close nearfall, Morgan smashed Jeff with a big Carbon Footprint and had the pin, but Karen swiped at Earl with the crutch. Hebner occupied himself with Karen and Scott Steiner slipped into the ring to drop Morgan with a uranage. Scott draped Jeff on top of Morgan to score the pin when ref Hebner returned to the ring. Post-match: Jeff and Karen shared a smooch while Morgan collected himself in the ring.

WINNER: Jarrett at 3:05. Formula Jarrett/WCW TV match with some built-in protections for Morgan taking a loss in three minutes. It looks like they're setting up Morgan vs. Steiner again.

3 -- Knockouts champion MICKIE JAMES vs. WINTER (w/Angelina Love) -- non-title match

Winter quickly took control of the action, wearing down Mickie as Angelina stared into the ring in a trance-like state. Mickie made a comeback and kipped up to get a reaction from the crowd. She absorbed a last-ditch attack from Winter before hitting her signature DDT for the win. Angelina was unmoved. Post-match: Angelina checked on Winter, saw she was bleeding, and jumped Mickie ringside. After brutally attacking Mickie, Angelina re-checked on her master.

WINNER: Mickie at 2:22. Another short match, which was a means to set up Angelina challenging for the KO Title at Slammiversary.

4 -- X Division champion ABYSS vs. BRIAN KENDRICK -- X Division Title match

Abyss continued to sell ringside, so Kendrick came flying to the outside with a dropkick that grazed Abyss. The ref called for the bell to begin the match, which moved into the ring with Abyss limping around. Abyss quickly cut off Kendrick with a big back-elbow smash to begin wearing him down. Kendrick escaped a press-slam and mounted some offense, including a top-rope missile dropkick for a two count. Kendrick went up top again, but ref Jackson James "incidentally got in the way," allowing Abyss to crotch Kendrick. Abyss followed with the Black Hole Slam for the win. Abyss then repeated some Art of War lines into the camera, noting his defense tonight was a "human shield," which would be the ref.

WINNER: Abyss at 4:14 to retain the X Division Title. What you would expect - reinforcing that the "X Division," as it's presented in the form of WCW's Cruiserweight division, doesn't matter. Concerning Abyss, it seems like a gradual re-building of Abyss's character as a monster now with brains.

5 -- TV champion GUNNER vs. ERIC YOUNG -- TV Title match

The bell sounded and Gunner re-visited the plan discussed earlier. Meanwhile, Tenay referenced Hogan and Nash's Finger Poke of Doom again to keep the '90s Night theme alive. Gunner did the finger poke, Young dropped to the mat, and Young suddenly small-packaged Gunner for the pin. Young strutted in Gunner's face as Gunner did his big, bug-eyed look. Gunner chased Young around the ring before Young ran to the back as the segment ended.

WINNER: Young at 0:30 to capture the TV Title. TNA playing hot potato with meaningless belts continues.

6 -- KURT ANGLE vs. ROB VAN DAM

Jeff said he picked RVD to face Angle since it's the first time they've faced each other in TNA. He said something about Angle not having a mental advantage over his opponent. The match quickly accelerated with RVD landing signature offense. RVD came up with a busted lip as Angle recovered on the floor. Back in the ring, Angle walked into more offense from RVD. Angle made a comeback after RVD cockily played to the crowd. TNA production cut to a split-screen of the action in the ring and Jarrett cutting a promo on Tenay at the announce table. They stayed with this split-screen for a while. RVD then scored some offense before Angle landed an overhead release suplex for a nearfall.

At the top of the hour, both men found themselves on the mat selling. Angle then popped up to his feet and landed a suplex for a nearfall. Angle dropped the straps and went for the Anklelock, but RVD kicked Angle in the head to escape. RVD followed with a kick to the head before hopping up top. RVD wanted the Five-Star, but Angle moved. Angle wanted the Olympic Slam and connected. Angle with the cover for the win.

Post-match: Karen gasped in frustration as the Jarretts stood up at the announce position. Jeff mockingly applauded Kurt. Meanwhile, Karen said Jeff won't be alone at Slammiversary. They signed off two minutes past the top of the hour with Jeff and Kurt staring back and forth at each other.

WINNER: Angle at 7:38. It was refreshing to see a clean finish in a featured TV match, but this wasn't given enough time to be a stand-out match, nor live up to expectations after being hyped throughout the show. The match never really moved out of first-gear and the continual focus on the announce position served as a distraction. Rounding this out, the focus on Jarrett-Angle for Slammiversary was solid. For a PPV that really doesn't have a hook - since Sting-Anderson is so off-the-wall nuts and presented as an afterthought - the Angle-Jarrett blow-off is as close as it comes to selling the PPV. WWE Smackdown Results: 5-27-11

Results courtesy of PWTorch.com (direct link to Park's complete report). Condensed here to in-ring results only.

1 – SIN CARA vs. CHAVO GUERRERO

Cara countered a hip-toss and took Chavo down with a few arm-drags. Chavo was at ringside and Cara feigned diving at him. Missed corner splash by Cara, and Chavo nailed him with a double-knee to the chest. European uppercut by Chavo on Cara, followed by a side slam for a one-count at 1:52. Chavo locked in a key-lock on the left arm of Cara. Cara took Chavo to the outside again and this time landed a springboard moonsault. Thus far, they haven’t addressed anything dealing with Cole’s new place at the announce table, though he still acted a little testy at times. Cara used his kicks as his primary offensive weapon. Springboard cross-body by Cara, but a jackknife cover by Chavo for two. “Chavo sucks” chant, then Cara did the move that won him the match at Over the Limit, and it got him the win again.

WINNER: Cara, at 4:47. Either that finisher wasn’t a botch at the PPV, or he has botched it twice now. Upon replay, it did look like he intended to face-plant Chavo, rather than having Chavo flip like a traditional head-scissors.

2 – CODY RHODES vs. DANIEL BRYAN

Cole went into full heel mode ragging on Bryan. Arm-drag by Bryan, but he caught an elbow charging in on Rhodes in the corner. Bryan countered Rhodes’ leg-lock and then applied a modified surfboard. Kick to the chest put Rhodes down for a one-count at 1:04 of the match. Bryan was hip-tossed over the top rope, leading to a break at 1:31.

The show returned with 4:48 gone in the match. Bryan fired back with European uppercuts, but Rhodes countered and kicked Bryan right in the stomach. Rhodes continued working over Bryan. Rhodes appeared to be out-wrestling Bryan, but the announcers were too busy squabbling to get over any storyline in the match. Bryan got his boot up in the corner, then came at Rhodes with a flying leg lariat. Running clothesline took Rhodes down at 7:30. Dropkick in the corner, then Bryan went to the top. High missile dropkick for a near-fall at 8:03. Rhodes countered a LeBell lock attempt and rolled Bryan up for two. Bryan did the same for a near-fall. Springboard kick to the face by Rhodes. Cross-Rhoes countered into the LeBell Lock, and Rhodes immediately tapped.

WINNER: Bryan, at 9:08. Surprise win there, and a good one for Bryan over Rhodes, who has been a major player lately.

After the match, Rhodes got his heat back by attacking Bryan. Unfortunately, that mean the win by Bryan was overshadowed. Cross-Rhodes by Cody, then he put a bag over Bryan’s head. A Bryan vs. Rhodes feud would be one I’d look forward to. Did Mathews just say “symbolical”?

3 – HEATH SLATER vs. EZEKIEL JACKSON

No entrance for Slater. Slater did his best to use his speed, but he was put down by a Zeke right hand. Jackson grabbed Slater in a choke and bealed him out of the corner. Slater stopped Zeke’s momentum and tried to stay on top of him, but Zeke kicked out of a cover with authority. Jackson made his comeback just shy of 2:00 in, splashing Slater in the corner. Big bodyslam from Jackson, followed by another. Torture Rack applied, which Cole called by name. But before Slater could submit, Justin Gabriel and Wade Barrett ran out for the DQ.

WINNER: Jackson, via DQ, at 2:34. We still don’t have a really good reason to root for Jackson as a babyface. Mathews did try to get over the idea that he was being bullied by the Corre, which is something, I guess.

Jackson was able to fend off all three men, and Corre had to re-group outside the ring while Jackson flexed inside it.

4 – THE GREAT KHALI vs. KANE

Ranjin Singh accompanied Khali. So apparently, there are no stipulations that would make this different than any other match, despite being billed as a “Monster’s Brawl” match. Khali shoved Kane down on a lock-up attempt. They went at it again and Khali elbowed Kane in the corner. Kane shot back with a big uppercut. Kane hit the ropes, then hit the mat after a clothesline from Khali. Khali whipped Kane into the buckle, then kicked at Kane. Nerve hold applied by Khali, as the announcers noted Singh was a bit more animated at ringside. At 2:00, Kane grabbed Khali’s throat. Khali did the same, and dumped Kane over the top rope. Kane caught Khali and brought him throat-first over the top rope. Top rope clothesline from Kane, which took Khali off his feet. Kane made the cover and picked up the win.

WINNER: Kane, at 2:35. Yeah, it was Khali vs. Kane. Fill in the blanks there.

Jinder Mahal’s music played, and he walked to the ring with a microphone. He spoke in a foreign language (possibly from the Foreign Land, Ishbu’s home). He got into the ring and slapped Khali across the face again. Singh then got in Mahal’s face, but Mahal shoved him. Khali returned the shove to Mahal and put a finger in Mahal’s face. Singh continued ranting in Mahal’s general direction, but Khali then extended his arms and applied the Khali Vice to Singh. Mahal was quite pleased, and they played his music to end the segment. Cole called it an act of cowardice on Khali’s part. Mathews questioned the relationship between Khali and Mahal.

5 – ALICIA FOX & TAMINA vs. A.J & KAITLYN

Natalya accompanied the greenhorns to the ring, while the heels were already in the ring. They had an inset interview with Nattie, AJ, and Kaitlyn. They did acknowledge AJ and Kaitlyn’s NXT season three experience. Headscissor take-over by AJ on Fox. She tagged in Kaitlyn who hopped over the ropes and took Fox down with a headbutt to the mid-section. Kaitlyn grabbed a handful of hair as the announcers did a good job talking about what Kaitlyn and AJ did on NXT. Side slam by Kaitlyn, but Tamina broke up the pin. AJ fended her off and Fox beheaded Kaitlyn with a beautiful axe kick.

WINNERS: Fox and Tamina, at 1:36. No explanation for Tamina being a heel here. Kaitlyn’s offense didn’t look great, but she and AJ didn’t have a lot of time to establish themselves here. Still, good to see those two getting some TV time, although it’s probably mostly due to injuries to Layla and Kharma’s absence.

6 – SHEAMUS vs. MARK HENRY vs. CHRISTIAN - #1 CONTENDER’S MATCH FOR THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

The heels double-teamed Christian as Booker predicted a win for Sheamus. Sheamus held Christian so Henry could punch him in the gut. Christian was sent into the ropes, but ducked under to get a breather. Sheamus tried to take the fight to him out there, but Christian landed a drop-toe hold on Sheamus into the ring steps. Henry brought Christian in the hard way, and picked him up, only to let gravity do the rest. He got a near-fall off that at the 1:50 mark. Henry choked Christian with his boot, then stood on top of him near the ropes. Henry charged, but Christian low-bridged him. Sheamus snuck up from behind and rolled Christian up for two. Brogue Kick missed, but Christian hit the Killswitch at 3:15. Henry pulled Christian out of the ring at the two-count. Orton’s music then played and he walked out, perhaps to get a closer look at his possible opponents next Friday. They went to break at 3:50.

Back at 7:40 of the match, and Orton had joined the announcers at ringside. He did not, however, have a headset. Henry had Christian in a bearhug. Sheamus took the fight to Henry in order to get back into the ring, but Henry impressively belly-to-bellied Sheamus back to ringside. Henry slowly worked over Christian, concentrating on the back. A missed splash gave Christian a chance to recover at 10:30 of the contest. Dropkick off the second rope rattled Henry, and a second one felled him. He only got a two-count, though. Sheamus cut Christian off as he tried to go to the top rope, and Sheamus laid the knees in on Henry. Sheamus went to the top to suplex Christian off, but Christian knocked him off instead. He dove at Henry, who caught him and slammed him. Sheamus broke up the pin attempt. Irish Hammer knocked Henry right out of the ring. He then covered Christian at 12:15, good for a two-count. High Cross was set up, but Christian got out the back door. Flip kick in the corner, followed by a Tornado DDT. Henry went after the champ, then went back into the ring. Christian side-stepped Henry, who splashed Sheamus. Spear by Christian on Sheamus. Orton recovered and RKO’d Henry. That distracted the ref and didn’t allow him to see Christian covering Sheamus. By the time he realized it, Sheamus kicked out. Charles Robinson explained that Orton was in the ring and he had to get him out. Christian pleaded his case unsuccessfully, then turned around right into a Brogue Kick by Sheamus for the pin. Mathews shamelessly called next week’s match between Sheamus and Orton, “perhaps the biggest match in Smackdown history.”

WINNER: Sheamus, at 14:29. Sheamus vs. Orton didn’t exactly set the world on fire on Raw, so we’ll see what they can cook up here.

WWE RAW Results: 5-30-11

Results courtesy of PWTorch.com (direct link to Caldwell's complete report). Condensed here to mostly in-ring results.

1 -- U.S. champion KOFI KINGSTON vs. DOLPH ZIGGLER (w/Vickie Guerrero) -- non-title match

Exemplifying why WWE is so inefficient with these types of matches, the announcers split their attention four ways on Dolph, Kofi, Vickie, and themselves early in the match. Dolph took control as Cole acted like he was filling time talking about Dolph's college education and Lawler cracked fat jokes on Vickie. Kofi made a comeback as Cole turned to talking about Kofi's "rough upbringing." Dolph then knocked Kofi to the floor and they cut to break with Kofi in trouble.

Back live, Dolph was trying to choke the life out of Kofi on the mat. Cole noted a victory for Dolph could put him in the hunt for the U.S. Title. Cole talked up Ziggler's credentials as Cole said he sees both of them having futures on Raw. That's like a Week 3 discussion after a quiet debut, not something Year 4 or 5 into their careers, but because of WWE's typical inefficient booking, mid-carders can't sustain momentum.

Kofi made a comeback at 9:00 and warmed up the Trouble in Paradise, but Ziggler ducked and slapped on the sleeperhold. Kofi rolled through, though, and ate a kick to the face in the corner. Kofi then went up top as Vickie screamed & shouted at him. Kofi wanted a high cross-body, but Ziggler moved and followed with a Fameasser for a close two count. The two men regrouped and Kofi nearly scored a win with a small package, but Kofi came back with the Zig-Zag in the corner. Ziggler with the pin for the win.

WINNER: Ziggler at 10:49. It looks like WWE will be setting up Kofi vs. Ziggler for the U.S. Title on a future event. The problem is Kofi hasn't been established as champion to where the audience can get behind this program. (**)

2 -- BELLA TWINS (Divas champion Brie & Nikki Bella) vs. EVE & KELLY KELLY

The Bella twins were already in the ring back from break. After a quick video on Kelly part of Maxim's Top 100, the tag match started. The heels quickly isolated and double-teamed Eve, then Kelly hot-tagged in at 2:00. After the action broke down, Kelly scored with a Rocker Dropper for the pin and the win.

WINNERS: Kelly & Eve at 2:56. Kelly is positioned as the babyface Diva WWE is pushing this month, so they seem to be continuing Kelly's chase for the Divas Title. (*)

* Cole interviews Alex Riley, calls him names and gets knocked down by Riley. Miz attacks Riley from behind but Riley turns the tables on his former mentor.

3 -- REY MYSTERIO vs. C.M. PUNK (w/Mason Ryan)

The bell sounded and Cole noted American Idol contestant James Durbin wore a Punk t-shirt on Idol last week. One of those decisions WWE makes where pop culture reference > maintaining a heel as a heel. Mason got involved one minute in, ramming Rey into the ringpost. They cut to break at 1:25 with Punk in control.

Back from break, Punk worked over Rey as Cole explained he included Wayne Newton in his list of traitors with Riley because of Wayne's role in "National Lampoon Vacation: Las Vegas." Paging Mr. Papagiorgio. Rey then escaped a hold with pizzazz and Cole said it's "one of those magical moments Rey creates." More of that breaking-the-suspension-of-disbelief commentary from Cole instead of saying Rey uses it to win matches. The action spilled to the outside before returning to the ring. Rey and Punk traded dazzling counters before Punk landed a smashing backbreaker across his knee for a two count. More intense counters before Punk smashed Rey with an enziguiri kick that Rey sold by slumping to the mat like he was KO'ed. Punk made the cover for the win. Punk and Ryan then celebrated on the way out of the ring as Rey sold in the ring.

WINNER: Punk at 9:06. Good finish to the match. Rey is Teflon, so the loss didn't hurt. Punk is up-and-down from week-to-week, and this didn't seem like the first step to pushing him into the title picture, but solid follow-up on a quality win could get him there. (**1/4)

* Kharma makes it official...she's pregnant but she'll be back. Bellas come out and mock her, giving her more of an insentive to return next year.

4 -- EVAN BOURNE vs. JACK SWAGGER

Lawler asked Cole if Swagger should be on his traitor list and Cole said Swagger is right up there with Riley. Swagger and Bourne suddenly went flying over the top rope together, looking like something from a Tough Enough training session. Swagger then rolled Bourne back into the ring to make a cover for a nearfall. Swagger proceeded to do push-ups using Bourne's back as a base, which drew a reaction from the crowd. Swagger began toying with Bourne, who suddenly rolled up Swagger with a victory roll for a quick three and the win. Cole called it a "huge upset" for Bourne, showing WWE doesn't think much of Bourne despite Bourne being side-by-side with Cena just ten months ago. Post-match: Bourne quickly scurried out of the ring as Swagger threw a fit in the ring. His top was about to blow.

WINNER: Bourne at 3:16. Just another filler match between these two that could have meant much more. They're back to the same 'ol mid-card story with Swagger focusing on his temper and cockiness getting in the way of victories while Bourne is back to being a lower-carder who's only lucky if he gets a win. (*)

5 -- WWE champion JOHN CENA vs. R-TRUTH -- non-title match

Cena and Truth locked up, Cena scored some early offense, and Truth bailed to the outside complaining about an unfair advantage. Cena scored some more offense and Truth bailed again. Truth paused to stare into the crowd and point at a fan on the second row. Truth kept walking around the ring pointing at fans. Cue up a loud dueling chant that excited Truth. Cena then clotheslined Truth and dropped the Five Knuckle Shuffle. Truth broke up the usual Cena routine by bailing to the floor to taunt the fans some more. Truth again bailed to the floor when Cena teased the Attitude Adjustment. Truth said he's not taking this.

Truth hopped over the guardrail and walked into the stands. Cena had enough and chased down Truth, who then clotheslined Cena to the arena floor. Truth hopped back over the guardrail and climbed into the ring. The ref reached a ten count and Cena was counted out, giving Truth the win.

WINNER: Truth via count-out at 4:01. More of a match than an angle, with the "match" serving as a means to an end of apparently giving Truth some smarts to go with his craziness.

WWE NXT Results: 5-31-11

Results courtesy of PWTorch.com (direct link to Caldwell's complete report). Condensed here to in-ring results and elimination.

1 -- TITUS YOUNG & HORNSWOGGLE vs. LUCKY CANNON (w/Maryse) & TYSON KIDD -- Tag Team Turmoil

Cole was confused on Maryse's relationships during NXT, trying to get caught up on the relationship issues on the show. Meanwhile, Titus dominated early on as Cole weirdly continued to hype up Hornswoggle as his favorite Pro in the history of NXT. Horny tagged in and did a bottle-opening head scissors on Kidd to dizzy both men. Titus tagged back in after Horny got his spot in, then Titus executed a shoulderbreaker for a two count. Suddenly, Horny walked up to Maryse with a flower, which drew Cannon's anger. Titus tried to defend Horny, but Kidd smashed him into the ropes. Kidd followed with a springboard elbow smash and it was good for the win. Immediately after the match, Yoshi Tatsu's music hit. Out came Yoshi and Saxton for the next match in the Turmoil.

WINNERS: Lucky & Kidd at 2:38.

2 -- LUCKY CANNON (w/Maryse) & TYSON KIDD vs. YOSHI TATSU & BYRON SAXTON -- Tag Team Turmoil

They returned from break with the next match already in progress. Cole noted a correction from Maryse that she was never with Yoshi and she is not with Cannon. Yoshi dominated Kidd early on, then Saxton tagged himself in and demanded Yoshi get out of his ring. Saxton, of course, lost control of the match, allowing the heels to work on Saxton. Saxton made a comeback and waved off Yoshi, not wanting to tag out to him. So, Lucky cut off Saxton and the heels went back to work on him. Meanwhile, the crowd chanted, "We want Yoshi."

No dice as the match continued with the heels working on Saxton. Saxton made a one-armed comeback and Lucky kind of fell down in the ring. He then kind of pulled himself up and intercepted Saxton's top-rope move with a boot to the chest. Cannon with the pin for the win.

WINNERS: Lucky & Kidd at 5:58. Cannon needs so much work in the ring.

3 -- LUCKY CANNON (w/Maryse) & TYSON KIDD vs. KOZLOV & CONOR O'BRIAN -- Tag Team Turmoil

Back from break, the match was in progress with Kozlov on the defensive against Cannon. Suddenly, JTG's music hit. JTG came out on-stage in street clothes trying to distract Kozlov and O'Brian. JTG then made his way to ringside and Cole noted he didn't think commentary could get any worse. Cole instantly turned into JTG's best buddy once JTG joined commentary. The match slowed down with the heels working over O'Brian. JTG then noted he's picking the Rookie, I Don't Care, to win this season. Cole cackled and said it was like talking to a piece of cardboard before JTG came out here. Cannon continued to slow this thing down to a sluggish pace working on O'Brian. O'Brian finally broke free and hot-tagged Kozlov, who ran over Cannon. Kozlov eventually finished off Cannon with the Iron Curtain for the win.

WINNERS: Kozlov & O'Brian at 5:08. The two worst Rookies in terms of wrestling ability - O'Brian and Cannon - having an exchange for three minutes was dreadful. They looked so lost. On-camera, it's the only thing holding Cannon back from being a future star.

4 -- KOZLOV & CONOR O'BRIAN vs. CHAVO GUERRERO & DARREN YOUNG

Back from break, Kozlov was working on Darren Young. Meanwhile, JTG continued to sell frustration that his Rookie, Jacob Novak, didn't take his advice and found himself eliminated. JTG also said he should be in the match right now. Meanwhile, Young and O'Brian had an exchange before Chavo tagged in for a few moments. Young re-entered and wore down O'Brian for a bit. O'Brian and Young then awkwardly butted heads in the corner and Kozlov begged for a tag.

Kozlov received a tag, as did Chavo. Kozlov landed multiple head butts before smashing Chavo in the sternum with a head butt. Kozlov wanted a powerslam finish, but Young pulled down Chavo in mid-air. Chavo then dropkicked Kozlov to the floor. Confusion over the legal man here. Chavo and Young eventually reset and began working over Kozlov. The crowd was hot with hate for Chavo, which was a good sign for this match. Chavo and Young tried a double-suplex, but Kozlov blocked and double-suplexed them, drawing a reaction from Cole.

Kozlov then made a hot tag to O'Brian, who tried to show fire making a comeback. The heels cut him off, though, and Kozlov went flying to the outside. Chavo also went flying to the outside. In the ring, O'Brian executed some sort of rolling suplex move and it was good for the win. O'Brian then fell down trying to celebrate, which only drew more anger from JTG. Kozlov and O'Brian celebrated in the ring as Grisham noted O'Brian picked up three Redemption Points by winning the turmoil.

WINNERS: Kozlov & O'Brian at 7:52. O'Brian has to go home. Awful. The match was decent and the focus on wrestling with Redemption Points on the line and four straight matches was good, but some of these Rookies seem like lost causes in the ring.

ingside: Maryse and Striker were with the five remaining Rookies ringside. Maryse awkwardly set up the elimination before Striker talked up all five of their efforts on NXT Redemption. Cue up the drumroll to find out who's going home...Byron Saxton.

TNA Impact Wrestling Results: 6-2-11

Results courtesy of PWTorch.com (direct link to Caldwell's complete report). Condensed here to in-ring results only.

1 -- MATT HARDY vs. CRIMSON

Crimson quickly knocked Hardy to the outside and Hardy grabbed his jaw while catching his breath. Back in the ring, Hardy took a beating as the announcers continued to talk up Crimson. Crimson landed a suplex and Hardy rolled to the outside again.

Crimson tried to drag Hardy back into the ring, but Hardy countered with a neckbreaker across the top rope. Hardy went to work on Crimson before climbing up top, where Crimson cut him off. Hardy knocked him to the mat, though, and went for a guillotine leg drop. Moments later, Crimson made a comeback and executed a double-arm DDT for a nearfall. The action came to a standstill with Crimson blown up, then Hardy started doing his airplane dance in the ring looking for Twist of Hate. Crimson avoided it, though, and landed the sky-high bomb for the pin and the win.

Post-match: Samoa Joe hit the ring and Crimson easily discarded him with a spear. Joe then rolled out of the ring and did his yelling & screaming deal.

WINNER: Crimson at 6:03. Pretty decent match, but Crimson lost his way near the end of the match. He's getting there, but he's not quite there. Cue up Matt Hardy patting himself on the back on Twitter. (*1/2)

2 -- MISS TESSMACHER vs. ANGELINA LOVE (w/Winter)

Angelina methodically worked over Tessmacher, maintaining a zombie-like pace. Tessmacher tried a comeback, but Angelina cut her off and landed a neckbreaker-like finisher for the decisive pinfall win. Afterward, Winter instructed Angelina to break her. After Angelina sufficiently choked out Tessmacher, Winter called her off and they stood tall to conclude the segment.

WINNER: Angelina at 3:32. Effective focus on Angelina leading to the Knockouts Title match at Slammiversary, although they were missing the actual champ, Mickie James, from the segment.

3 -- MR. ANDERSON vs. TV champion ERIC YOUNG a/k/a Not So Great Muta -- non-title match

Young stood off to the side of the ring as Anderson mockingly did Sting's Stinger Splashes. Young figured out Anderson wasn't really paying tribute, but mocking Sting. Meanwhile, Tenay prematurely celebrated Bischoff's TNA exit. Young tried to exit the match, but Anderson cut him off and continued to mock Sting while working over Young. Young then made a comeback, including a crucifix pin for a nearfall. Young followed with a top-rope moonsault, then Gunner showed up on the ring apron to distract Young. In the confusion, Young spewed Anderson with the mist. He then rolled up Anderson for the win.

Post-match: Gunner jumped Young to continue their feud. Anderson then joined in the beat-down on Young. Sting's music hit and out came the real Sting looking for a piece of action. Anderson ran out of the ring, then Sting clotheslined Gunner to the outside. Sting returned to the ring to check on Young while Anderson paced around ringside. Tenay plugged Sting vs. Anderson at Slammiversary in ten days.

WINNER: Young at 3:58. The bizarre build-up to Sting-Anderson continues.

4 -- BRIAN KENDRICK vs. KAZARIAN -- #1 contender match to X Division Title

Basic back-and-forth early on. Tenay plugged a confrontation between Bully Ray and A.J. Styles up next, plus Hulk Hogan arriving at the building later in the show. Tenay then plugged the new TNA fantasy game.

Kazarian worked over Kendrick for a while after Kendrick missed with a suicide dive on the floor. Meanwhile, Taz dropped this classic TNA line: "Abyss and the X Division is like an oxymoron." How is it an oxymoron when the X Division isn't even defined? Something can't contradict itself when it has no definition. Kaz and Kendrick began countering each other, then Kaz nailed a Shining Wizard that took Kendrick to the floor. Back in the ring, Kendrick tried a quick roll-up, but Kaz escaped. More pin counters, then Kendrick found himself on the floor.

Suddenly, the bell sounded at 8:00. Everyone was confused on this. Ref Hebner declared this match a draw. Apparently it's the Russo Rule if a match goes beyond eight minutes, they have to end it or else the audience will tune out in droves. Hebner then got on the headsets and relayed information from Bischoff that he's adding five minutes to the match.

The match re-started and Abyss came storming to the ring with possession of the X Title. Kendrick hopped on Abyss's back, but Abyss flung him away. Abyss KO'ed Kaz, then dropped Kendrick with the Shock Treatment. Hebner told him to get out, but Abyss went to work on Kaz, dropping him with the Black Hole Slam. Abyss then talked to the ringside camera about his latest Art of War philosophy. He declared the war over; the X Division is dead.

WINNER: ??? at 10:30 when they cut away from Abyss. Good TV match with some nice athleticism and counters before the non-finish.

5 -- KURT ANGLE & MATT MORGAN vs. JEFF JARRETT (w/Karen Jarrett) & SCOTT STEINER

Angle got his hands on Jarrett early on and went through a methodical wrestling sequence trying to wear down his most-hated rival. Morgan then tagged in and Jarrett wanted a tag, but Steiner wanted nothing to do with Morgan. Angle and Morgan then began working over Jarrett as they cut to a split-screen of Bischoff showing the just-now-arriving Hogan the paperwork he received at the top of the show. Hogan told him not to worry about. Suddenly, Taz said Hogan and Bischoff haven't even lasted a year, saying they came in to TNA in October 2010. What? There was January 4, 2010, a failed Monday Night Wars, a retreat back to Thursdays, etc. Tenay then plugged next week's just-signed main event of Sting & Eric Young vs. Anderson & Gunner.

As for the match, Jarrett tried to leave to run away from Angle, but Angle gave chase. Karen then interjected herself into the proceedings. Everyone disappeared behind a pillar on-stage and the announcers acted like something happened. They cut to Kurt staring down at the ground. Karen was apparently at the bottom of the steps, injured from a fall. Jeff was screaming and crying for help. Suddenly, back in the ring, Hebner made a slow three count for Steiner pinning Morgan. Back off-stage, Angle cut a promo on Jeff for being an idiot involving Karen in this. Jeff cried for help as paramedics showed up. Angle told Jeff it was his fault. Jeff said Angle pushed her down the stairs and told security to get Angle out of here. Angle continued to cuss out Jarrett before they cut to break.

WINNER: Steiner & Jarrett at 6:30.

WWE Superstars Results: 6-2-11

Results courtesy of PWTorch.com (direct link to Caldwell's complete report). Condensed here to in-ring results only.

1 -- TYSON KIDD (w/Matt Striker) vs. TRENT BARRETA

Barreta quickly knocked Kidd to the floor and aggressively attacked him on the outside before Kidd hip-tossed him hard into the guardrail. Striker kept punching numbers on his phones, disinterested in the match. Striker handed Korpela his business card, continuing to put on an agent's act. Korpela asked Booker if he's ever had one of those opponents he's been so evenly-matched against. Since The Crippler Who Shall Not Be Named does not exist in WWE history, Booker referred to Christian. Booker was asked about managers during his career and referenced Sherri Martel. Meanwhile, Striker handed a business card to Booker. Striker then became interested in the match and gave instructions to Kidd, who suddenly scored a pinfall by trapping Barreta to the mat as he tried a victory roll.

Post-match: Striker took the mic and said he's watched a bunch of people trot out here as advisors, but he's figured it out: you don't need an advisor because you're Tyson Kidd. Striker said he's even better than Bret Hart. The crowd booed. Striker said Kidd needs an agent, then heeled on Korpela. Striker said Kidd's face is going to be all over WWE.com by the end of the week. He suggested they grow together. Kidd cackled and Striker said he's going to get him on PPV. "Better than Bret Hart," Striker declared.

WINNER: Kidd at 4:23. Striker's act came across like such a put-on prior to the promo, which was better than anything during the match. Apparently this is the end of the Managerial Search and it gives Striker something to do. But, of course, now the *burning question* is whether there's a conflict of interest with Striker the host of NXT and Kidd one of the Pros. Not that anyone cares.

2 -- JIMMY & JEY USO vs. THE CORRE (JUSTIN GABRIEL & HEATH SLATER)

WWE piped in some cheers for the heel Usos on the way to the ring to face the former tag champions. Korpela asked Booker what the Usos need to do in order to move up the ladder and Booker said they need to put on weight. Jimmy did a Rikishi dance move in-between moves and clotheslined Gabriel. The Usos continued to work on Gabriel before bodies started flying on the outside. The Usos then stood tall in the ring as the heels recovered on the floor.

Back on Superstars, the Usos continued working on The Corre as more cheers were piped in. Jey then found himself on the wrong end of a clothesline on the floor, allowing Corre to isolate Jey back in the ring. Meanwhile, Booker interjected a random item that WWE wrestlers get paid more money if they win in the middle of the ring. That would change the whole complexion of WWE if that were actually played up on TV. "Razzle dazzle!" Booker declared a few times as the action broke down. Uso #1 then got hung out to dry on the top turnbuckle and slumped down to the mat. Gabriel followed right up with his trademark 450 Splash for the pin and the win. The announcers played up Gabriel & Slater's Tag Title quest after the match.

WINNERS: Corre at 7:23. A needed win for Corre just to pick up a win, even if hardly anyone sees it. Meanwhile, Booker's cliché-o-meter exploded during this match.

3 -- MELINA vs. GAIL KIM

The Raw portion of the show picked up with Divas singles action. Scott Stanford noted each Divas match is an opportunity to move up the contendership list for a shot at Brie Bella. Once the match started, Melina instantly began screaming and shouting at Gail. Melina continued to work over Gail's lower back, risking DQ with some work in the ropes. The crowd tried rallying behind Gail, who eventually mounted a comeback at 4:15 with a top-rope missile dropkick. Both Divas sold on the mat, then they went to the finish with Gail countering a sunset flip bomb with Eat Defeat for the pin and the win.

WINNER: Gail at 4:50. Formula TV singles match and a solid win for Gail, who is always available to be spotlighted with the Divas roster diminishing by the week.

4 -- WWE tag champions NEW NEXUS (MICHAEL MCGILLICUTTY & DAVID OTUNGA) vs. SANTINO & KOZLOV -- non-title match

Early feeling-out process involving all four men, then Santino taunted Otunga with the Cobra to pop the crowd, but Mike blindsided Santino and began working him over. Loud "Santino, Santino" chant as Nexus continued to have their way with Santino. Otunga and Santino then had a double-knockdown center-ring, allowing Santino to tag in Kozlov. The action broke down moments later and the ref didn't see Nexus double-team Kozlov, setting up Otunga for a uranage on Koz for the win. Stanford called it a "huge blow" to Santino & Kozlov's chances of rising up the tag ranks. After a replay of the finish, Nexus was shown celebrating on the way out of the ring. The faces were shown recovering in the ring as Stanford signed off with a final shot of Nexus standing tall on-stage.

WINNERS: New Nexus at 4:34. Fine match, albeit short for a "main event." The build to Tag Team Title Turmoil continues...

WWE Smackdown Results: 6-3-11

Results courtesy of PWTorch.com (direct link to Park's complete report). Condensed here to in-ring results only.

1 – CHRISTIAN vs. MARK HENRY

Christian showed off his new t-shirt during his entrance. Mathews questioned why Christian was still smiling as they showed Mathews, Booker T and Michael Cole at the announce table. And it only took three minutes this week for me to be sick of Cole. Christian tried to attack Henry upstairs, never a good idea. Henry went to work on Christian, forcing Christian to slide out of the ring to recover. Henry followed him out, but Christian went back in and dropkicked Henry through the ropes. He tried to dive onto Henry, but Henry caught him and threw him to the apron. I’ve noticed the referees have been mic’d more than usual. First cover for Henry got a two-count at 1:38. Henry then just tossed Christian in the air, with the Canadian landing front-first onto the mat. Henry tried to finish things at 2:43, but he missed the big splash. Christian again tried to go high with clotheslines, to no avail. Middle-rope elbow by Christian, and he still couldn’t take the man off his feet. Henry clotheslined Christian over the top and to ringside. Drop toe-hold by Christian sent Henry face-first into the announce table. To the top went Christian, but again, he tried a cross-body and Henry caught him. Christian got out of the move though and connected on the Killswitch for the win.

WINNER: Christian, at 4:28. Nice bounce-back win for Christian, but the psychology didn’t make him look too bright.

2 – ALICIA FOX & TAMINA vs. AJ & KAITLYN

The heels were already in the ring, and Rosa Mendes was with them. Natalya was once again with the babyfaces, who also did an inset interview. Kaitlyn claimed last week’s match was a warm-up, and Nattie said she knows they can do it. Tamina shoved Kaitlyn to start, and Kaitlyn gave it right back. Kaitlyn was whipped into the corner, but avoided a Tamina splash. Headbutt to the gut by Kaitlyn, followed by a roll-up for two. Tamina tagged out as the announcers discussed Kharma’s situation. Fox, clad in pink (as a shot at Natalya, according to Mathews), was knocked down by Kaitlyn. AJ tagged in and gave Fox a hurricanrana. AJ sold better than probably any other Diva. Tamina tagged in and landed a nice bodyslam. Samoan Drop by Tamina for the win.

WINNERS: Fox & Tamina, at 2:03. I’ll be patient to see where they’re going with this, as far as introducing AJ, having her team with Kaitlyn, and being led by Natalya.

3 – JINDER MAHAL vs. YOSHI TATSU

This is Mahal’s in-ring debut in WWE. He was accompanied by Great Khali. I thought for sure Mahal would be squashing Trent Barreta here. Mahal had his name on the back of his white tights. Jumping knee to the face of Tatsu. Vertical suplex by Mahal for only two. Full-nelson slam by Mahal, shades of Tom Brandi’s House Quake! Anyway, it got the three-count.

WINNER: Mahal, at 1:10.

Mahal stood Tatsu up to shake his hand after the match, but it was just a ploy to distract Khali, who came from behind Tatsu and applied the vice grip. The two men stood with their arms raised after the match. They replayed the finish at the post-match attack.

4 – EZEKIEL JACKSON vs. WADE BARRETT – INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH

They showed Jackson fighting off Corre last week. Referee Justin King asked for a clean break from both men in the corner. Jackson gave it to him, but Barrett did not. Body shots in the opposite corner by Jackson. Beal by Jackson that almost caused Barrett to land on his head. Booker even admitted Jackson was limited in his movement. Barrett kicked at Jackson while he was lying on the apron. Impressive Boss Man Slam by Barrett for two. Barrett stretched the neck of Jackson at 1:40. Inverted atomic drop by Barrett, but Jackson came back and tossed Wade over the top rope. Back in the ring, Jackson fought off his former teammate. Big splash in the corner, then three bodyslams. Torture Rack was next, but Barrett raked Jackson’s eyes and went to the apron. Jackson kicked him down to the arena floor. Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater came to ringside and surrounded Jackson. The referee continued to count, and Barrett, though he appeared as if he could make it to his feet and into the ring, was counted out.

WINNER: Jackson, at 4:07. About what you’d expect from these two.

After the match, Corre re-grouped and jumped Jackson. Well, actually it was just Gabriel and Slater; Barrett feigned going into the ring, but let his minions do his bidding instead. He just walked to the back as Jackson once again fought off Gabriel and Slater.

5 – DANIEL BRYAN vs. TED DIBIASE

Several standing switches between the two began the match. Nice dropkick by Bryan for a one-count. DiBiase countered a hip-toss and turned it into a pin for two. Right hand by DiBiase, but Bryan fired back with chops. Kick to the chest by Bryan for two at 1:33. Rhodes and his bag men came to the ring at about this time. They went to break at 1:52 of the contest.

They were back at 4:40, with DiBiase stretching Bryan. The offense by DiBiase continued for the next minute or more. Hard whip into the buckle by DiBiase. Bryan flipped out of the corner, barely avoiding knocking noggins with DiBiase. Both men were down at 6:55, and once on their feet, Bryan kicked DiBiase several times in the chest, showing some fire in the process. Hurricanrana off the top by Bryan, but DiBiase rolled through for a two-count. Clothesline by DiBiase (with a 360 sell by Bryan) for two. DiBiase was sent out of the ring and Bryan flew through the ropes and into DiBiase at 8:06. Off the top came Bryan, but DiBiase met him with a dropkick for two. DiBiase set up for Dream Street, but Bryan countered and into the LeBell Lock. He tapped.

WINNER: Bryan, at 9:27. Nice enough match. DiBiase was able to keep up with Bryan, though the segment of the match where he was on offense was nothing thrilling.

Rhodes and DiBiase attacked Bryan after the match, but Sin Cara’s music played and he ran out. He took out Rhodes with a springboard bodyscissors (that looked like it was supposed to be a hurricanrana), then a tilt-a-whirl headscissors on DiBiase. Now THIS is a tag team feud I can get behind.

6 – RANDY ORTON vs. SHEAMUS – WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH WITH CHRISTIAN AS SPECIAL GUEST REFEREE

Formal introductions were done by Tony Chimel. Sheamus worked a side headlock on the champion early on. Shoulder knock-down for a one-count. Orton flew out of the corner and nailed Sheamus with a clothesline. The fight went to the outside, where both men traded having the upper hand. In the end, Orton had it and rolled Sheamus into the ring. After a near-fall, Orton went outside the ring. Sheamus followed him out and drove Orton’s spine into the ring-post. Back in the ring went Orton and Sheamus got two on the cover. They went to break 3:42 into the title match.

Back with Orton working out of a rest-hold at 7:16. Orton brought the pain with right hands, then Sheamus with a knee-lift for two. Hard forearm shots onto the chest of Orton. Another cover, another two-count. Sheamus set up for a suplex, but Orton blocked and landed one of his own. Both men were down at the 9:00 mark, with Ortno leaning ont eh ropes to get back to his feet. Sheamus ran into a big boot and hit some of his signature moves. Vintage Orton backbreaker for two. Sheamus caught Orton charging into the corner, then pulled himself up to the top rope. Orton met him and hammered away with rights. Suplex off the middle rope by Orton. He made the cover at 10:34 for a near-fall. Sheamus propelled himself over the top and landed a shoulderblock for two. Impressive for a big guy, especially after enduring an 11:00 match to that point. Powerslam by Sheamus for two. Jackknife cover for two by Orton. Irish Curse back-breaker by Sheamus for two, as things began to go back-and-forth again. Sheamus missed a running kick, as Booker called Orton playing possum. Rope-assisted DDT by Orton. He set up for the RKO at about the 13:00 mark, but Sheamus shrugged off an attempt and put Orton down with a Polish Hammer. Sheamus signaled for the High Cross, but Orton slipped out the back. He was almost shoved into Christian, but Orton stopped short and Sheamus ran into Christian. Sheamus apologized and then took down Orton with the Brogue Kick. Christian made the count, but stopped short of the three-count. He feigned an arm injury, then Sheamus got pissed and shoved Christian. Christian punched him and Orton landed the RKO for the win.

WINNER: Orton, at 14:28. Sheamus accidentally hit Christian and Christian cost him the title in retaliation? And Sheamus is the heel and Christian the face? I liked the match.

As Orton celebrated the win, Christian nailed Orton with the belt, out of nowhere. “I can beat you Randy, I know it!” he shouted at Orton. Then he posed with the title as he stood over Orton. They replayed Christian knocking Orton out, even in slow motion! Christian walked to the back with the title as other refs checked on Orton. He got to the top of the ramp and raised the title over his head as the show faded out.

WWE RAW Results: 6-6-11

Results courtesy of PWTorch.com (direct link to Caldwell's complete report). Condensed here to in-ring results only.

1 -- WWE tag champion MICHAEL MCGILLICUTTY (w/David Otunga) vs. SANTINO (w/Kozlov)

Cole mentioned that non-existent Superstars show, where this feud played out last week. Santino quickly cleared Mike to the outside and started a premature trumpet celebration. Cole recapped the opening segment involving McMahon and Austin as Mike wore down Santino. "C'mon, baby, show 'em why we're the champs," Otunga encouraged from the outside. Santino then came back with the sailor's salute fist drop as Cole called Santino a goofball. On the outside, Kozlov ran over Otunga as confusion ensued. Back in the ring, Santino dropped Mike with the Cobra and it was good for the win.

WINNER: Santino at 4:33. Apparently this positions Santino & Kozlov for a future Tag Title shot against the Nexus scrubs. (*)

2 -- BELLA TWINS (Divas champion BRIE BELLA & NIKKI BELLA) vs. KELLY KELLY & BETH PHOENIX

The Bellas isolated Kelly early on, then Beth tagged in, cleaned house, avoided Twin Magic, and hit the Glam Slam for the pin and the win. Beth and Kelly celebrated the victory, with Kelly remaining in the winner's circle on a quest for the Divas Title.

WINNERS: Beth & Kelly at 2:23.

3 -- REY MYSTERIO vs. C.M. PUNK (w/Mason Ryan)

After an early feeling-out process, Rey knocked Punk to the floor. Rey then flew through the ropes with a head scissors that slammed Punk into the mat. Rey shot Ryan a look, then returned to the ring to continue wearing down Punk. Rey tried to follow up with a top-rope move, but Punk crotched him, hung him upside down, and landed a running attack the mid-section. Punk began wearing down Rey as they hit the top of the hour.

Cole reset the show, noting Andy won Tough Enough. Rey and Punk battled up top and Rey knocked Punk to the mat before nailing a cross-body block. Both men sold on the mat before Rey came flying out of the TV screen with a high-altitude springboard turnaround splash from the second rope. Punk absorbed the attack before hitting a snap powerslam for a two count. Punk lowered his kneepad and tried to use his exposed knee as a weapon, but Rey blocked and set him up for the 619. Ryan hopped on the ring apron, though, and Rey stopped short. No matter, as Rey smashed Punk into Ryan. With Ryan out of the picture, Rey went up top and delivered a big splash on Punk for the win. Rey quickly left the ring as Cole noted the recent singles series is now 1-1. After a replay of the finish, they showed Rey celebrating and Punk showing frustration in the ring.

WINNER: Rey at 8:42. Fine TV match, but they certainly seemed to be saving something for a likely third match in their current "series." (**)

4 -- U.S. champion KOFI KINGSTON vs. ZACK RYDER (w/Vickie Guerrero and Dolph Ziggler) -- non-title match

The bell sounded and Cole slipped, calling Kingston's opponent "Zack Ziggler." Ryder scored some early offense and Ziggler noted Ryder has been scouting Kofi in-between YouTube shows. Kofi then made a comeback and scored signature offense on Ryder. Ryder then got up, grabbed the ropes to avoid Kofi, and kicked him away. Suddenly, Kingston smashed Ryder with the Trouble in Paradise for the win. Ziggler continued to heel on Kingston, vowing to take out Kofi if he puts his title on the line. Ziggler added that Kofi's time is numbered as champion.

WINNER: Kingston at 2:40. Effective getting over Ziggler's heel personality and showing off Kingston's offense to build to a future title match. Someone in creative is paying attention. (*)

5 -- BOOKER T vs. JACK SWAGGER

Back-and-forth exchanges early on, then Swagger clotheslined Booker over the top rope to the floor. Swagger followed up with some offense ringside, then rolled Booker back into the ring as Cole continued to plug Twitter. Swagger wore down Booker, but then walked into a leg whip. Swagger rolled to the floor to collect himself and the referee was mic'ed up, which meant a count-out was coming into play. Swagger shouted that he doesn't need this. He stood next to the ring as the ref reached a ten count, giving Booker the count-out win.

Post-match: Bourne jumped Swagger from behind, then Swagger chased him into the ring. Booker intercepted Swagger with a knock-down, then Bourne climbed up top and landed Air Bourne. Cue up Bourne's music, then Booker and Bourne dropped to the mat. Booker's music then played and they did a double Spinarooni. Booker and Bourne hugged it out as Booker celebrated in the ring to conclude the segment. Lawler noted Swagger cost himself some money with the loss tonight. WWE hit a similar note on Superstars last week, but there still isn't a consistent approach to the storyline of wins and losses impacting finances.

WINNER: Booker via count-out at 3:15. The match was already defined-down as unimportant with no hype for Booker's in-ring return, then Swagger was defined down some more. At the end of the day, a "feel-good moment" for Booker and Bourne with no sense of whether there will be follow-up involving Booker. (*)

6 -- WWE champion JOHN CENA & ALEX RILEY vs. THE MIZ & R-TRUTH -- Steve Austin very special referee

The bell sounded when they returned live and the match started with Miz and Cena. They locked up, Riley tagged in, and Miz quickly scampered to his corner for a tag to Truth. Riley and Truth had a brief exchange, then Cena tagged in and Truth scampered to his corner to tag in Miz. More Cena and Miz. In the corner, Cena audibly told Miz, "bulldog," and Cena promptly executed a bulldog out of the opposite corner after calling the spot for the entire audience to hear. The heels then cut off Riley, Cole offered a canned line about the heels rolling, and the show went to break.

They returned from break 30 seconds before the top of the hour with Miz working on Riley. Miz continued to cut off Riley's comebacks and made a cover. Miz scored a nearfall that sounded like a three-and-a-half count because Austin smacked the mat on the way down that sounded like a one-count. Moments later, Miz got in Austin's face to continue their mini-feud book-ending the Tough Enough season dating back to their pre-Week 1 Raw confrontation. Miz and Truth continued to work on Riley before Riley escaped Truth and made the hot tag to Cena.

The arena exploded as Cena hit the ring and ran over Miz, who also tagged in. Cena with the usual routine, the Shuffle, and an Attitude Adjustment tease that Truth broke up. Cena then dumped Truth over the top rope before catching Miz with the STF center-ring. Austin got in close to see if Miz wanted to tap, but Miz grabbed the bottom rope. Suddenly, Truth entered the ring with a chair and Cena dropkicked it away. Cena and Miz then had a double knockdown center-ring.

Riley entered the ring with a briefcase in-hand and teased hitting Cena before popping Miz with the case. Austin ignored it, then took a page from Bret Hart as special referee two weeks ago dropping Miz with the Stunner. Cena followed up with the AA on Miz for the win.

Post-match: Cole complained about the officiating as Austin, Cena, and Riley shared beers in the ring. Suddenly, the Raw GM buzzed. Cole stepped to the podium and angrily read that the referee has blatantly over-stepped his authority in this match. Therefore, Cena and Riley have been DQ'ed. Apparently the GM went to sleep before the end of the main event two weeks ago.

WINNERS: Miz & Truth via DQ reverse decision at 10:44. There was hardly anything here hyping Cena vs. Truth on PPV in two weeks. Truth is being presented as as much of a threat to Cena's title as a blister. (*1/2)

Suddenly, the GM buzzed in again. Cole read that before Austin does something drastic he'll forget, the GM has appointed Austin as the special guest General Manager. Austin slipped out of the ring, grabbed a mic, trashed the laptop and podium, and polled the crowd on whether they want him to be the GM. Austin grabbed Cole by the lapel and proceeded to punch him in the face. Austin rolled Cole into the ring, called for some beers, and doused Cole center-ring. Cena watched in the background as Austin picked up Cole and dropped him with a Stunner. Austin's music played and Cena followed up with an Attitude Adjustment. Cue up Cena's music this time.

Austin and Cena then shared beers in the ring before Austin slipped out of the ring and grabbed the mic again. Cena's music stopped, Austin re-entered the ring, and asked the crowd if they're ready for Raw next week. Austin told Cole he'll see him next week on Raw because Stone Cold said so. Cue up Stone Cold's theme music. Austin grabbed some beers, tossed some beers to Cena, and Lawler signed off with a plug for Austin back on Raw next week for a three-hour show. They closed with a slow-motion shot of Cena and Austin sharing a beer.

WWE NXT Results: 6-7-11

Results courtesy of PWTorch.com (direct link to Park's complete report). Condensed here to in-ring results only.

1 – JTG vs. YOSHI TATSU

Regal said he liked JTG’s intensity, but still couldn’t understand what he was saying. Match was joined in progress, and JTG gave a knee-lift to Tatsu. Grisham helped out Regal when Regal was looking for a word to describe what JTG has been making, and Grisham told him “impact.” Then under his breath, he said that might not be the word they want to use there. JTG got a near-fall off of a high-impact move. Sunset flip by Tatsu was countered by JTG. High knee-drop for two by JTG. Grisham noted these are the only two Pros whose rookies have been eliminated. JTG worked the arm as the crowd got behind Tatsu. Tatsu dodged charge in the corner. Hard chops were delivered by Tatsu. Spinning heel kick, shades of Savio Vega! JTG avoided Tatsu’s big kick and applied a rear waistlock to ground Yoshi. JTG did some trash talking while holding his opponent down. Tatsu got to his feet, flipped out of a suplex, and kicked JTG in the head. The pin was academic.

WINNER: Tatsu, 5:30 shown. Okay mid-card match. Tatsu has some potential, but I think JTG’s still best served as a tag wrestler.

2 – DARREN YOUNG & CHAVO GUERRERO vs. CONOR O’BRIAN & VLADIMIR KOZLOV

Young and Kozlov started things off. They did some mat work early on. Kozlov backed Young into the corner and laid in a few shoulders. Tag to O’Brian, who worked Young’s arm. Young and Chavo did some heel double-teaming. Chavo flew over the top rope, but O’Brian was too close to the ring, and Chavo barely caught O’Brian with an arm to his back. Chavo rolled O’Brian into the ring and was about to make a cover when they went to break. Seriously?

Back at 5:49 of the tag match. Regal applauded the tag effort of Young and Chavo. O’Brian tried to break free, and finally did, making the tag to Kozlov at 6:45. Kozlov went to work on Young, and dropped him chest-first over the top rope. Kick to the chest, then a clothesline for Chavo. Young walked into a big boot, but Vlad made the mistake of going after Chavo again. Young took out the knee of his Russian foe. The heels worked the leg of Kozlov to keep him from getting to his feet. They cut off the ring as well. This is kind-of tough with a guy like Kozlov, who struggles to sell. O’Brian got the hot tag, and did some nondescript offense. The standard tag finish went into effect, and Young hit O’Brian with his finisher for the win.

WINNERS: Young and Chavo, at 12:10. Young and Chavo looked good as a tag team, but there were a couple of long heat segments on O’Brian and Kozlov.

3 – TITUS O’NEIL vs. LUCKY CANNON

Both Tyson Kidd and Maryse accompanied Cannon to the ring. Grisham read a Tweet from Maryse earlier in the day. She carried a purse that Cannon bought for her. O’Neil powered Cannon down off of a lock-up. The two men brawled in the middle of the ring in lieu of actually communicating and doing a move. Running boot to the seated Cannon by 29-take Titus. Cannon gained control and choked O’Neil in the ropes. Cover by Cannon for only two. He settled into a rear chinlock and the crowd was quick to get behind the big man. Grisham talked about O’Neil’s college football days at Florida. Knees to the face by Cannon, who then shoved Titus to the mat. Hornswoggle got the crowd into it, but Cannon again took O’Neil down for a two-count. More work on the neck. O’Neil came back, but ended up crashing to the floor when Cannon shoved him into the ropes, and O’Neil inexplicably fell through. Hornswoggle, on the opposite side of the ring, gave Maryse a velvet case and inside was a candy necklace. He grabbed her leg and she hit him with her purse. Cannon started yelling at Horny when Maryse’s purse exploded. I guess it’s a fake. Maryse was pissed and hit Cannon with her purse. Cannon turned around into O’Neils finisher for the win.

WINNER: O’Neil, at 5:18. Neither man looked smooth here.

WWE Superstars Results: 6-9-11

Results courtesy of PWTorch.com (direct link to Caldwell's complete report). Condensed here to in-ring results only.

1 -- JTG vs. CHRIS MASTERS

The bell sounded and JTG just kind of sat in the corner still sporting his Yankees cap to get over his heel persona. Masters wanted a piece of JTG, who slowly disrobed to make Masters wait to lock up. Masters landed some early offense, then JTG backed into the corner to cut off Masters's momentum. More stalling from JTG eventually gave him an opening while Mathews continued to talk about Masters being one or two steps away from being a "huuuuuuge" player in WWE.

Masters mounted a comeback at 3:00 and went to the second rope for a leaping shoulder tackle. More power offense from Masters, but JTG cut him off in the corner and went back to work on Masters. JTG called for the mug shot, but Masters avoided and followed right up with the Masterlock grip. JTG had nowhere to go and the ref called for the bell on a submission victory for Masters.

WINNER: Masters via submission at 4:38. Your basic Superstars match promoting the idea that Masters is just a few steps away from being relevant. (*)

2 -- MARYSE & MELINA vs. GAIL KIM & EVE

Prior to the match, Stanford noted Gail Kim's victory over Melina last week on Superstars. Mathews added that all four have held women's title gold in WWE. Mathews then segued a discussion about the Divas being all-stars to a plug for the three-hour Raw this Monday on Raw. He said the Raw GM is taking the week off to give the reigns to Steve Austin. Vacation? In WWE? That's absurd crazy talk. Meanwhile, the heel Divas isolated Eve early in the match trying to secure an early victory.

Gail eventually picked up the hot tag at 3:00 and cleaned house on Melina. The action then broke down when Maryse got involved. Gail and Melina were left alone in the ring and they played off the finish to their match last week when Gail tried to counter Melina's finisher with Eat Defeat, but Melina avoided Eat Defeat and landed her leg-split drop. It was good for the pin and the win.

WINNER: Melina at 3:47. Formula Divas tag match. Melina picks up an even-steven victory over Gail this week to keep their mini-program going.

3 -- YOSHI TATSU vs. TYSON KIDD (w/Vickie Guerrero)

Korpela noted Striker was out there last week as Kidd's agent. Striker said he is, but he instructed Kidd to try out all potential managers to find the right fit. Nice start to the match with some strong exchanges between Yoshi and Kidd. Meanwhile, Striker presented a heel argument that Kidd is better than Bret Hart. "Kidd is money," Striker said the slogan is. Meanwhile, Yoshi executed a combination knee strike to the gut and Northern Lights suplex for a nearfall. Kidd came back with an attack to the knees, knocking Yoshi to the floor. Yoshi sold a knee injury as they cut to break.

Back from break, Kidd continued to work over Yoshi, targeting the injured left knee. Striker suggested potential Smackdown matches of Kidd vs. Sin Cara or Kidd vs. Daniel Bryan as he advances up the ladder. Yoshi sold he was in jeopardy with the "injury," then he flung Kidd away to the floor to buy some time.

Back in the ring, Yoshi rolled out of a sunset flip attack with a desperation kick strike for a two count. Yoshi mounted some more offense, prompting Vickie to pick up her pacing ringside. Kidd scored some return offense, but Yoshi fired back with a signature roundhouse kick for a three count for the win. Post-match: Striker lamented his client's loss before a replay aired. They cut to ringside showing Vickie arguing with Kidd. Vickie shouted in Kidd's face that he needed to listen to his advice. They signed off with the discussion still ongoing ringside.

WINNER: Yoshi at 11:40. Another perfectly fine singles match between Kidd and Yoshi. The search for a manager continues for Kidd... (**)

TNA Impact Wrestling Results: 6-9-11

Results courtesy of PWTorch.com (direct link to Caldwell's complete report). Condensed here to in-ring results only...thankfully!

1 -- Knockouts champion MICKIE JAMES & TARA vs. ANGELINA LOVE & WINTER

The match built to a face-to-zombie exchange between Mickie and Angelina to promote their Knockouts Title match at the PPV. The heels eventually isolated Mickie, who made a comeback. Madison Rayne then showed up ringside to distract her old friend, Tara, and her former foe, Mickie, which allowed Angelina to pick up a win. Winter told Angelina to break Mickie and Angelina added a final insult to injury ahead of their KO Title match on Sunday.

WINNERS: Angelina & Winter at 4:26. Basic continuation of the build-up for the PPV.

2 -- ALEX SHELLEY & TNA tag champion JAMES STORM (w/Robert Roode) vs. MEXICAN AMERICA (HERNANDEZ & ANARQUIA w/Rosita and Sarita)

The bell sounded and the match seemed to jump ahead in the match with Shelley and Storm trading tags working on Anarquia. Hernandez then crotched Shelley behind the ref's back and Magnus said that's an example of the tag champs not having continuity. He called them "two selfish pricks." Taz quipped back you can't say selfish on the air. MA began working over Shelley, then Hernandez randomly climbed up top and airballed a splash. Storm then hot-tagged into the match and back-dropped Anarquia to the mat.

The action broke down moments later and Storm clotheslined Hernandez over the top rope. Shelley then went flying through Storm's legs with a suicide dive ringside. Storm then had a pin on Anarquia, but R&S distracted the referee. Storm responded by spewing beer in R&S's faces. Shelley then went for a superkick on Anarquia, but he ducked and Storm ate the kick. Anarquia made the pin for the win, drawing concern from Roode ringside. Afterward, Shelley tried to explain himself as Beer Money tried to act cool.

WINNERS: Mexican America at 4:29. A last-second desperation attempt to make it seem like the Tag Titles are in jeopardy against British Invasion, who haven't been on TV in weeks. Magnus was solid on commentary to assist in the endeavor.

3 -- ROB VAN DAM vs. BULLY RAY

The bell sounded and RVD went to the turnbuckles looking to pose for the crowd. Ray took advantage of RVD acting cocky and yanked him down to the mat. Ray blasted RVD with chops and hard slaps as Tenay plugged ODB vs. Sky still to come tonight.

Suddenly, A.J. Styles was shown standing in the Impact Zone watching the match. It took a while for the audience to recognize him. Ray didn't see him in the stands and continued to stalk RVD. Ray eventually spotted Styles in the stands and asked if he was trying to get in his head. Meanwhile, RVD was selling forever on the other side of the ring. Ray then scooped up RVD for a piledriver, but RVD back-dropped Ray and landed a springboard back kick. RVD quickly went up top and landed a Five-Star Frogsplash. RVD with the cover for the win. Tenay said he thinks Styles did get in Ray's head ahead of their match on Sunday.

WINNER: RVD at 3:25. RVD and Tough Enough Andy are in the running for worst babyface in wrestling right now. Fine set-up for Ray vs. Styles at the PPV, although they missed out on a video package or basic recap of why exactly Styles is so upset with Ray to hammer home that point.

4 -- ODB vs. VELVET SKY

ODB scored a nearfall five seconds into the match, then went to work on Velvet. ODB threw out "skanky b----" as she tried to choke out Velvet in the ring. Velvet mounted a comeback, but ODB ran her back-first into the ringpost on the floor. More vulgarity from ODB, then she got too cocky on offense, allowing Velvet to hit a DDT for the surprise win.

WINNER: Velvet Sky at 5:10. A double-dose of lewdness this week.

5 -- TNA World Hvt. champion STING & TV champion ERIC YOUNG vs. MR. ANDERSON & GUNNER

Sting and Anderson were set to start things off, then Anderson did the old heel bit teasing a lock-up before tagging out to Gunner. The heels eventually took advantage of the numbers game to corner Sting, which brought Anderson into the match to work over Sting. The heels worked over Sting for a bit before EY tagged in and came in hot. Young dropped a top-rope elbow on Gunner, but turned his back on Anderson. Young faked the green mist, causing Anderson to duck, then Young popped Anderson with a dropkick.

Young started celebrating too soon and Gunner bumped Young into Sting. It counted as a legal tag, bringing Sting into the ring to take Gunner's TKO-like finisher. Gunner with the pin on Sting for the win. Didn't Gunner get the memo the mission was to hurt Sting, not win a silly wrestling match? The announcers sold the decision as the biggest of Gunner's career. Sting, unhurt, got to his feet and shoved down Young, who was back to a comedian celebrating as if his team won. Tenay said they would have reactions next.

WINNERS: Anderson & Gunner at 4:56. Yes, Gunner pinned the World champ ahead of a TNA Title match on Sunday. Doing the math, Gunner should be the champ - Young pinned #1 contender Anderson last week, Gunner pinned World champ Sting this week, and Gunner is the only one without a loss?

WWE Smackdown Results: 6-10-11

1 – THE CORRE vs. THE USOS & EZEKIEL JACKSON

The announcers were shown on camera during Corre’s entrance, and Booker T. gave his thoughts on Christian’s new attitude. At Capitol Punishment, Jackson gets another shot at the IC Title when he faces Barrett. Mathews gave some background on the Usos, as I believe this is the first time they’ve teamed on Smackdown since being drafted from Raw. I think one of them may have lost in a squash match a few weeks ago. Jackson tossed Heath Slater around for a bit to start. Flying shoulder tackle by Jimmy Uso, as Slater backed himself into the corner to halt the onslaught. He tagged Justin Gabriel, who fell victim to an arm-drag. Jimmy danced, bringing back memories of his father Rikishi, before taking Gabriel down. Mathews called Gabriel “a self-proclaimed extremist.” But what does that mean? Jey missed a corner splash and Gabriel grabbed a headlock. Jey was sent out of the ring and Slater capitalized, slamming his head into the announce table. Josh talked about Corre finally being on the same page as they went to break at 3:21 of the match.

Back at 8:26. Yes, we missed more than five minutes of the middle part of the match. I had no idea how much of the matches you miss until I started timing these out. Side slam by Barrett for two on one of the Usos. More work on Jey by Slater. Off the ropes, neckbreaker by Slater, and that got him a two-count at 9:56. Frequent tags by the Corre. Jey kicked Barrett when he put his head down prematurely, and Jackson tagged in. Barrett scurried to his corner and tagged Gabriel to avoid Jackson. He then tried to walk out, but Slater stopped him and yelled at him. Barrett continued his walk anyway. Bodyslam for Slater, then a double superkick by the Usos. Jackson then focused on the legal man, Gabriel, with a few bodyslams, which Booker called “slam city,” channeling Taz. Torture Rack for Gabriel, who submitted.

WINNERS: Jackson and The Usos, at 11:39. Just continuing to tease the break-up of Corre. Strange to see the Usos in a meaningful match, not to mention on the winning side.

2 – TRENT BARRETA vs. JINDER MAHAL

Mathews said Orton just arrived at the arena. Great Khali came to the ring with Mahal. Barreta shoved Mahal to start, but Mahal was having none of that. High back body-drop by Mahal. “USA” chants by the fans. Barreta flipped out of a suplex and gave an enziguiri to Mahal. Running back elbow in the corner by the former Dudebuster. He went to the toop, but Khali climbed the steps to distract him and Mahal pulled him off the ropes by his hair. Full nelson slam by Mahal to go to 2-0 in his WWE career.

WINNER: Mahal, at 1:29. Mahal has been pretty impressive in his limited time in the ring the first two weeks.

3 – TAMINA vs. AJ

Tamina was already in the ring, and Rosa was with her. AJ came out to her new pop-ish theme music (which sounds like it could be sung by Miranda Cosgrove or Miley Cyrus), and Nattie seconded her. Back elbow by Tamina started the match. AJ’s offense didn’t get her far, and Tamina headbutted AJ. Slam by Tamina, then an arm-bar. Hair pull put AJ down as Booker was distracted by Rosa, who was standing in front of the announce table. AJ came back with a dropkick to the knee, then a running knee to the face. Tamina kicked out at two. Mathews talked about the team-building events that AJ, Nattie and Kaitlyn have been taking part in. Cross-body by AJ was caught by Tamina, who readied for her finisher, but AJ rolled her up out of nowhere for the win.

WINNER: AJ, at 2:02. AJ has some Mickie James in her as far as her pluckiness. She can be a good underdog for the Divas division, and I think the fans will really get behind her.

4 – SIN CARA vs. TED DIBIASE

Rhodes and his baggers trailed behind DiBiase upon his entrance. The baggers handed out bags to the front row fans. Snap mare by Cara, then a springboard cross-body for two, thirty seconds in. Cara went flying again, taking DiBiase down with a wristlock. He seemed to botch a flip, but stayed on offense. DiBiase got his boot up in the corner and then kicked Cara again in the head. He set up for Dream Street but Cara countered. He went for a springboard move, but as he did, Rhodes pulled Cara’s leg out from under him, drawing the DQ.

WINNER: Cara, via disqualification, at 1:51. I like the DQ finish – Cara wasn’t going to lose to DiBiase, and Teddy can’t really afford another clean loss, especially now that he seems to be on the cusp of being relevant again.

5 – DANIEL BRYAN & SIN CARA vs. TED DIBIASE & CODY RHODES

Match was joined in progress. Rhodes was hesitant in coming into the ring to face Bryan. Cara surprised Rhodes after a tag with a springboard dropkick. Rhodes tossed Cara shoulder-first into the ring post. DiBiase tagged in to work the arm and shoulder of Cara. Cara attempted to apply a submission hold, but DiBiase escaped and the heels continued the beat-down. Single-arm DDT by Rhodes for a near-fall. Some heel double-teaming by the former Legacy members. Top wrist-lock by Rhodes, continuing to ground Cara. Cara tried to escape through Rhodes’ legs to make the tag. Rhodes grabbed him, but an enziguiri put both men down. They both made tags and Bryan got the best of DiBiase. Running dropkick in the corner, but only a two-count. He went ot the top and fended off Rhodes. Cara dove through the ropes onto Cody, and DiBiase met Bryan on the top. Bryan sent him down, then jumped on him. DiBiase caught him, but Bryan kept the momentum and ended up hooking on the LeBell lock for the submission win.

WINNERS: Cara and Bryan, 6:27 shown. Fine tag match. The more action Cara gets, the better for him in his future.

6 – SHEAMUS vs. RANDY ORTON – NO-DISQUALIFICATION MATCH

Sheamus took the fight to Orton in the corner once the bell rang. Elbows to the back of the head of the champion, then a forearm to the chest. Thesz Press by Orton to turn things around. He threw Sheamus already out of the ring, and Sheamus was already sporting a nice big red spot on his back. He was whipped into the barricades, then clotheslined. Back heel trip by Orton back in the ring, followed up by a missed knee drop. Sheamus soaked in the jeers as he waited for Orton to get to his feet. He went for a diving shoulder tackle, but Orton dropkicked him to ringside. Orton was limping as he retrieved Sheamus and continued battering his foe into the barricades, then head-first into the steel steps. He tried to step on Sheamus’ head when it was on the steel steps, but Sheamus pulled Orton’s leg, sending Orton face-first into the steps. Sheamus tried to recover while Orton was down as they went to break under 4:20 into the contest.

Sheamus held Orton at bay in the ring just over 8:00 into the match as the show returned. Two-count registered at 8:45. Back to the rest-hold went Sheamus. The slingshot shoulderblock connected on the second try, and the Irishman got a two-count. Back suplex by Orton, and both men were down at the 11:00 mark. Orton slithjered into position for an RKO, but it was just a tease. After all, he didn’t hit all of his signature moves yet! The two men went toe-to-toe with rights in the middle of the ring. Orton got the best of it, but Sheamus countered the Orton DDT and back-dropped him to ringside. Orton was thrown into the ringsteps. Sheamus dropped the steps over the lower back of Orton. He shoved Orton back into the ring at 13:44. The steps were placed into the ring as well, but Orton caught Sheamus with his unique back-breaker (that brought Sheamus down across his injured lower back) for two. He didn’t even sell the back. Orton put the steps into position, but Sheamus pulled him head-first into the middle turnbuckle.

Sheamus tried to slam Orton onto the steps, but Orton instead gave Sheamus a released powerslam onto the steps. That looked dangerous. Orton took his time to make the cover, allowing Sheamus time to kick out at two. At 16:00, Sheamus fought back once again. Irish Curse back-breaker for two at 16:24. Sheamus went to ringside and pulled a Kendo stick from underneath the ring. He belted Orton a few times with it in the upper torso, then in the head. Only a two-count. Crowd chanted “Randy” to try to get him back into the match. “In this business, there are a lot of sick, sick individuals,” said Booker. How right he is. Sheamus ended up with his foot tied up between the middle and top rope. Orton spied the Kendo stick and smiled. He clobbered Sheamus with it over and over again. Rope-assisted DDT by Orton at 19:08. As he readied for the RKO, Christian came from out of nowhere and attempted the Killswitch. He couldn’t connect and escaped the ring to allow Sheamus to double axe-handle Orton in the face. Still only a two count. Christian stayed at ringside. Sheamus set up for the High Cross, but Otron countered. He dodged the Brogue Kick and nailed the RKO. Christian came in and knocked Orton out with the World Title. Sheamus crawled over and made the cover for the three-count.

WINNER: Sheamus, at 21:14.

Christian held the title over a fallen Orton as the logo popped up on the screen and the show closed out.
