8 -- THE MIZ vs. REY MYSTERIO -- Finals of WWE Title tournament did not occur

McMahon began his promo, saying no one is bigger than WWE. He said he can make a new John Cena. "C-M-Punk chant" interrupted. McMahon talked up Cena's contributions to WWE and thanked him for his service, but said sometimes you have to set an example in business. He said it's not about his ego or having to win all the time; it's about business. McMahon said he does what he does for the benefit of the audience from a business perspective. He said he makes decisions from a long-term perspective and sometimes people don't see what he's doing, but in time, they'll thank him. McMahon said as much as he would like not to do this...pause for another Punk chant...let's get this over with.

One minute before the top of the hour, John Cena's music played to a strong reaction. Mainly cheers, but some audible boos. Cena hit the ring and stood in one corner trying to hold back a smile. Cena eventually walked past McMahon and yanked the mic away from him. Cena told "Kevin" (Dunn) he's not going to go on a tirade or show his junk to the crowd. He said he's not going to go through what McMahon made Shawn Michaels do. Cena referenced Michaels carrying the burden of the Montreal Screwjob for a long time. He said he wouldn't want to be the same guy who screwed C.M. Punk. Cena said he knew what was at stake. He said it was more than just the title or his career. Cena said it was about McMahon wanting to keep his bubble intact. He said he was not going to be McMahon's patsy. "No way," he said to applause.

Cena said he's not supposed to say this guy's name, but he told Punk it was a hell of a match last night. "Thank you so much," he said. Cena told McMahon he wanted to throw out the match last night, but he wasn't going to play that way because McMahon would have made the title meaningless. "That's not true," McMahon mouthed. Cena told McMahon to go ahead and make one, five, even ten of him. He said McMahon has eight months to find a new opponent for The Rock. He said McMahon can do some hocus-pocus and find an opponent and the show will go on. Cena said he will leave with his dignity, though. Cena said he loves WWE and he truly believes he belongs here. He said if McMahon is telling him he has no other option, then he will walk onto someone else's television show and keep doing this "brother." Cena said it's not a threat; it's a promise. Cena said a lot of people say a lot of things, but one thing he won't do is kiss McMahon's ***.

Cena threw the mic toward McMahon, who called Cena back to center-ring. McMahon said that as much as it hurts him personally and business-wise, he has to say this. "John..." Suddenly, Triple H's music hit. Everyone recoiled as the crowd popped big.

Triple H, in a suit, came marching to the ring with his head. McMahon took a deep breath as Cena backed out of the spotlight. Hunter walked up to McMahon and talked in his ear about something. McMahon smiled and walked across the ring to grab a mic for Hunter. McMahon hyped Hunter to the crowd as Hunter deflected it by staring down at the mat. Hunter walked toward McMahon and said there was a Board of Directors meeting this morning. He paused. He said that last night, they flew from Chicago to here. He said he flew to the office after that. Pause. Hunter said the Board asked him to come here to talk to McMahon. He said they're concerned about the situation. Hunter wanted to talk about it in the back. The crowd wanted to hear it now. Hunter said he tried to get out here before McMahon made it to the ring. He said the Board is concerned about him. The Board gets McMahon has built a global empire. It's a given.

But, at the same point in time, the Board is concerned about your extremely questionable decisions as of late. McMahon told Hunter to stop beating around the bush and say it. Hunter said the Board has filed an injunction against McMahon with a vote of no confidence. And, Vince, the family agrees. McMahon sold taking that one personally. On top of that, the Board has appointed someone to take over the day-to-day operations of WWE. Vince sold with sadness in his eyes. Hunter took a deep breath into the mic. He said he can't even believe he's even going to say this. "Vince, it's me," he said. McMahon couldn't believe it. Hunter continued to stare down at the mat as McMahon sold tears. "Cena, Cena" chant as Hunter looked back toward McMahon. Hunter told McMahon he's not going to fire John Cena. Cena was ringside slapping hands at this point. Hunter told McMahon he's not doing anything anymore. He said McMahon taught him from Day One that no one is bigger than this business. Both men were selling tears at this point.

Hunter said he can't believe he's doing this. He said he's here to inform McMahon that he is relieved of his duties. McMahon had the big tears as Hunter continued to look down at the mat. Both men stared down at the mat. "You can't do this to me," McMahon mouthed. The crowd chanted, "Na na na goodbye," as McMahon looked toward the ceiling. Hunter said he didn't want to do this, but he did what's right for business. Hunter told McMahon to look at him. "How about a hug?" someone cat-called. Hunter told McMahon he loves him, which finally broke the dam for McMahon. Hunter threw down the mic and bailed from the ring. Alone in the ring was the star of the show. "Trip-le-H" chant as he turned to look back into the ring from the stage. Hunter then turned to leave before the camera went back to McMahon. McMahon mouthed, "Thank you, thank you," as the crowd began to applaud now. McMahon quietly wiped away tears, then told someone to cut out. The trademark came on as the crowd chanted, "Thank you, Vince." They stayed with a close-up shot of McMahon selling tears for about five or six seconds before fading out. PYB talk time: 17:20.

WWE News: What Happened After Raw Went Off-Air

Post-Raw Happenings

As Raw was going off the air, there was a "Thank you, Vince" chant going on. Once Raw was off-air he said, "Thank You, thank you to all...but this is not on me...I don't like to point blame, but this is all on that son-of-a-***** John Cena."

McMahon went on to say if this is was his last night in front of the people, then he was going out fighting. He took off his tie and jacket and called out Cena. Cena's music hit and he came out to the ring. Cena grabbed a mic and said, "I know you had a tough day at work today, but you don't want to fight me, just say your two cents and we'll go on our way."

Vince grabbed the mic and said "screw you" and back-hand slapped Cena's hat off. Cena just laughed and then vince shoved him. Cena started to retaliate and backed Vince into a corner when Miz, R-Truth, and Dolph Ziggler rushed the ring and started to dismantle Cena with Vince shouting instructions. Then, Evan Bourne, Zack Ryder, and Santino came in to help Cena.

Vince got back up the ramp and the faces managed to dispose of Truth and The Miz, who was still selling a big limp, leaving just Dolph, who was surrounded by Cena, Ryder, Santino, and Bourne. Dolph pleaded his case, but Cena knocked him down and gave him the Five Knuckle Shuffle followed by an Attitude Adjustment. Santino then followed up with The Cobra, Ryder with the Zack Attack, and, finally,, Bourne with Air Bourne.

Happenings Off Live TV

-- Before Raw went on the air, they showed the last five minutes of the MITB PPV to set up Vince McMahon to start the show. Just seconds before going on air, there was an announcement by the ring announcer that McMahon requested the WWE Universe refrain from saying or chanting C.M. Punk's name, which had everyone chanting "C-M-Punk" as Raw went on the air.

-- During a commercial break after the Del Rio tournament match, McMahon came out with a mic and the crowd started the Punk chant again, to which he repsonded, "C.M. Punk my ***." He then said, "You people spend your money on tickets and support someone who turns their back on you?...What cow pastures did you ingrates crawl out of?...you people suck." He then threw his mic down and left.

WWE NXT Results: 7-19-11

Results courtesy of PWTorch.com (direct link to Caldwell's complete report). Condensed here to in-ring results only.

1 -- JTG vs. KOZLOV

Kozlov tried an early attack, but JTG knocked him to the outside and took control. Since JTG has turned heel during this season, Regal has changed his tune on JTG; Regal is now claiming JTG has talent after previously saying JTG is a no-talent, waste-of-space. Kozlov eventually made a comeback and delivered a headbutt into the Iron Curtain for the pin and the win. Grisham managed to show zero excitement for the finish. After a replay of the finish, Kozlov was shown celebrating in the ring.

WINNER: Kozlov at 5:26.

2 -- TITUS O'NEIL (w/Hornswoggle) vs. DARREN YOUNG

Titus completely dominated the first three minutes, so Young bailed to the floor and tried to head to the back to call it a night, but Titus dragged him back into the ring. Titus proceeded to chuck Young clear over the top turnbuckle to the other side of the ringside area in front of the announcers. Titus landed multiple blows to the chest as the referee administered a ten count. Both men were back in at eight, then Titus clubbed Young to the ring apron with a forearm smash. On the apron, Young caught Titus with a neckbreaker that seemed take the life out of both men. Bateman then randomly walked out on-stage in possession of Cole's picture from the opening segment. They abruptly cut to break at 6:00.

Back from break, Bateman was pacing ringside trying to get a closer look at the action. In the ring, Young knocked down Titus with a clothesline for a two count. Bateman eventually made his way to the announce table to engage Regal in a one-sided conversation. Meanwhile, Regal talked about his protégé, Daniel Bryan, winning Smackdown's MITB match at the PPV. Regal said the difference between them is he has no morals, whereas he's sure Bryan will do the honorable thing announcing his intentions in-advance.

At 10:00, Titus started a comeback with a gutwrench suplex. Regal referenced Gordon Solie here, and Titus made a full comeback before Hornswoggle randomly got involved with the ref. In the background, Bateman tripped O'Neil from behind, but it actually helped O'Neil as Young was already mid-air for a dropkick, causing him to crash to the mat. Bateman glared into the ring, then moments later, Titus dropped Young with the sky-high bomb for the pin and the win.

WINNER: O'Neil at 11:15. Not that any of this matters, but this made Young and Bateman look pretty silly and ineffective. Titus continues to be positioned as the winner of this season, whenever it ends.

WWE Superstars Results: 7-21-11

Results courtesy of PWTorch.com (direct link to Caldwell's complete report). Condensed here to in-ring results only.

1 -- TYSON KIDD vs. JUSTIN GABRIEL

Slow start as they felt each other out before Kidd slowed down the pace. Gabriel came back with some A.J. Styles-like offense before Kidd cut him off on the top turnbuckle. Kidd tried to follow with a huracanrana, but Gabriel held onto the top rope and Kidd crashed down to the mat. Gabriel then steadied himself and delivered the 450 Splash for the pin and the win.

WINNER: Gabriel at 4:22. Basic singles match. It felt like they were holding back for a future match-up of greater length.

2 -- ALICIA FOX vs. NATALYA

Fox had a full ring intro back from the break and Natalya was already in the ring, which usually doesn't bode well. Korpela noted this same match-up two weeks ago featured a tremendous amount of hair-related attacks. Natalya used her wrestling expertise to take an early advantage while also stealing Alicia's belt to taunt her. Natalya continued to dominate with successive offense before Alicia suddenly rolled up Natalya for the pin and the win. After the match, Natalya tried to get some back from Alicia, but the victor high-tailed it up the stage.

WINNER: Alicia Fox at 2:45. Your basic example of the babyface completely dominating and the heel sneaking out a sudden victory to keep the babyface on the chase.

3 -- WWE tag champions NEW NEXUS (DAVID OTUNGA & MICHAEL MCGILLICUTTY) vs. ZACK RYDER & SANTINO -- non-title match

Santino started things off, but Ryder tagged himself in. Ref Nunzio instructed Santino to exit as Ryder tried his hand against Otunga. Scott Stanford noted Kozlov is not happy about this Santino & Ryder pairing, and Ryder will not be taking away their friendship. Kozlov's best friend teased the Cobra on Mike, but Mike ducked to the floor. On the floor, Otunga ate the Cobra, but Mike decked Santino with a clothesline to end the rapid-fire sequence. They cut to break with Santino in trouble.

Back from break, the tag champs had Santino isolated. Meanwhile, Stanford asked Josh Mathews if Santino & Ryder should be in tag title consideration. Mathews simply answered, "Yes," before explaining himself, apparently realizing the absurdity of a team that has never teamed up before being in the tag title picture. (Or, just the absurdity of the current tag division in WWE.) Stanford noted some other tag teams atop the division as the champs continued to wear down Santino.

Santino finally broke free at 5:00 and hot-tagged Ryder, who cleaned house. Obligatory House of Fire reference from Stanford before the action broke down and Santino went flying to the floor. Ryder then clotheslined Mike over the top rope. Back in the ring, Otunga wanted The Verdict uranage, but Ryder countered in mid-air with the Rough Ryder. That was an amazing counter. Ryder made the cover for the win. The tag champs suffer another non-title defeat.

Afterward, they replayed high points of the match, including the Rough Ryder counter. Ryder then showed Santino how to take care and spike his hair as the tag champs retreated on the stage clutching their Tag Title belts.

WINNERS: Ryder & Santino at 5:46. A strong tag match with some good action and a nice pace for a six-minute bout. Ryder's counter to finish the match is worth seeking out.

4 -- EVAN BOURNE vs. PRIMO

Bourne received a full ring intro as Primo waited in the ring. The camera focused on Bourne pre-match as Primo brooded over this match-up in the corner. Stanford focused on the wrestlers having respect for each other, while Mathews stressed it all goes out the window in WWE because it's about winning matches and competing for titles. Primo took control of the match early on, trying to take away Bourne's high-flying attack. Primo executed a delayed vertical suplex for a two count, then Bourne ducked a clothesline and started a comeback.

The two men traded rapid-fire pin attempts before Bourne landed a back-heel kick. Bourne quickly scampered up top and landed Air Bourne as a camera was positioned right nex to Primo for a closer look at Bourne's finisher. Bourne with the pin for the win.

WINNER: Bourne at 4:21. Appropriately following the MITB ladder match PPV, the show started with a 450 Splash and ended with Air Bourne. Fine showcase for Bourne.

TNA Impact Wrestling Results: 7-21-11

Results courtesy of PWTorch.com (direct link to Bax' complete report). Condensed here to in-ring results only.

1- ROB VAN DAM vs. SCOTT STEINER --- BOUND FOR GLORY SERIES MATCH

With the annoyingly common prematch attack, Steiner took control early, hitting a big suplex that caused RVD's eyebrow to bleed. Steiner put RVD into the Tree of Woe and started choking him with his boot.

Steiner continued to dominate, putting RVD into a submission and then slamming him into the corner. But RVD floated over off of an Irish whip and hit a desperation superkick to get a rest.

RVD made a big comeback, culminating with a springboard thrust kick and a baseball slide that knocked Steiner to ringside. RVD hung Steiner up on the barrier and hit a spinning heel kick off of the apron.

Van Dam rolled Steiner back into the ring and Steiner hilariously called a timeout. RVD kept fighting but Steiner raked his eyes and hit a belly to belly suplex for a two count.

He threw RVD into the corner but Van Dam fought back with a spinning kick and Rolling Thunder for a two count. But Steiner fought back with power moves and hit a DDT on RVD with Van Dam's feet on the top rope.

That would have been the end, but the cover was too close to the ropes. Steiner nailed Van Dam with the Steinerliner and then dropped an elbow. But he inexplicably got mad at the ref, which allowed RVD to roll him up for the three count.

WINNER: ROB VAN DAM in 6:00

2- MISS TESSMACHER & TARA vs. Knockouts Tag Champions SARITA & ROSITA --- Knockouts Tag Championship

All four women fought in the ring early before dumping Tara to the floor. Eventually, ref Hebner took control. Sarita had a spiky leather mask on that was reminiscent of Abyss' gear.

Tara got knocked down to the floor multiple times in this match and she eventually ran in regardless of tag to jump Sarita. Hebner has thrown a lot of people out of the ring in this one.

Tara finally got back in and went for the Widow's Peak but a distracted Hebner didn't see Madison Rayne interfere. Eventually, Mexican America got in trouble when Tara hit a sit down power bomb to win the titles.

WINNERS & NEW KNOCKOUTS TAG CHAMPIONS: TARA & MISS TESSMACHER in 4:45

3- A.J. STYLES vs. MATT MORGAN vs. GUNNER vs. SAMOA JOE - BFG SERIES LADDER MATCH

Remember, the winner gets ten points. Right off the bat, Styles and Gunner went out to ringside while Joe and Morgan lined up in the ring. Morgan is wearing all white. Gunner threw a ladder into A.J. before Joe hit a running baseball slide to knock Gunner down.

Morgan and Joe fought over the ladder and knocked Gunner down in the process. Morgan clotheslined Joe down and took the ladder inside the ring.

A.J. got up to fight off Morgan, who caught him in the goozle. But A.J. literally flipped through the chokeslam and hit Morgan with the Pele Kick. But A.J. had no time to gloat as Gunner hit him with a slingshot suplex. Gunner then leveled Joe with the ladder.

Lots of fast action here. Samoa Joe caught Morgan with a suicide dive and left Gunner alone to climb the ladder. But Styles springboarded onto the other side and knocked him to the ground. A.J. then hit the Pele Kick on Joe.

More mayhem ensued that eventually ended up with Morgan hitting a big carbon footprint on Gunner and climbing to the top to grab the ten points.

WINNER: MATT MORGAN in 5:00 to earn 10 BFG Series Points

4- X Division Champion BRIAN KENDRICK vs. ALEX SHELLEY - X Division Title Match

High paced action early where Shelley used a variety of wrestling moves while Kendrick tried strikes. The crowd was split 50/50 with a dueling "Let's Go!" chants.

Kendrick ended Shelley's edge briefly with a high kick but Shelley blocked a Slice Bread attempt and kicked Kendrick down to regain control with a variety of submissions that led into a surfboard stretch.

Shelley followed that up with a pair of two counts off of a crossbody from the top turnbuckle. Shelley looks confident and crisp.

He went for another cross body and hit him in the chest with a drop kick. Both men recovered but Kendrick hit two high kicks on Shelley that knocked him to ringside and then followed it up with a suicide dive.

Kendrick tried hitting a splash from the top rope but Shelley got hit feet up and then climbed to the ring apron and hit what looked like a Sliced Bread move that knocked Kendrick silly.

Shelley tried to roll Kendrick into the ring and as the ref was checking on him, Austin Aries appeared and decked Shelley in the face with the title belt. A dazed Kendrick rolled over and got the three count victory.

WINNER: BRIAN KENDRICK in 5:30

After the match, Shelley sold being dazed while an exhausted-looking Kendrick tried to help him up. Meanwhile, Aries lounged happily on the ground at ringside, out of the referee's eyesight.

5- World Champion STING & KURT ANGLE vs. MR. ANDERSON & BULLY RAY

Another match involving Immortal begins with someone getting jumped before the bell. Sting got isolated in the heel corner early as both men just started choking him at every chance. Immortal traded multiple tags while beating up on Sting.

Anderson focused on Sting's legs while keeping him away from Angle's corner. Ray tagged back in and continued the beatdown. Ray tried a leg drop off the 2nd rope like he was channeling Matt Hardy but he missed.

That allowed Sting to finally get a break and tag in Angle. Kurt hit four suplexes before going for the Olympic Slam. Ray hit the chop block to stop him but Sting got a 2nd wind and managed to take both men down with Stinger splashes.

With that, Angle hit the Olympic Slam on Anderson for the victory.

WINNERS: STING & KURT ANGLE in 3:50

After the match, Angle and Sting shook hands before pulling close and staring each other down. Tenay pumped Hardcore Justice as the show went off the air.

WWE Smackdown Results: 7-22-11

Results courtesy of PWTorch.com (direct link to Parks' complete report). Condensed here to mostly in-ring results.

1 – CHRISTIAN vs. EZEKIEL JACKSON

Booker said Christian deserved what he got after the match on Sunday, despite him doing nothing against the rules. He said Christian was hiding behind his legal team. Just over a minute in, Jackson pressed Christian over his head, pumped him up and down, then slammed him for a two-count. Jackson back-dropped Christian to the floor and Mathews asked whether or not Jackson could beat the World Champion as they went to break at 2:01 of the match.

Back at 6:02 of the match. Jackson was dominating Christian, no doubt with a combination of skill and concentration, but Christian got a drop-toe hold that sent Jackson into the steps. European uppercut off the middle rope by Christian for two. Let’s see if anyone mentions that this was the last match in ECW history. Jackson with a knee to the mid-section of Christian as some fans chanted “let’s go Christian.” Christian fired back and applied a rear chin-lock. Now “Zeke” chants. Jackson picked Christian up and gave him a Samoan drop. Clotheslines and knock-downs by Jackson, followed by a lateral press for two at 9:20. Another clothesline. Two bodyslams, then some flexing. Christian countered a third one and went after the knee. Killswitch blocked, so Christian applied a sleeper hold. Jackson put him on his shoulders and rammed Christian back-first into the buckle. Christian shoved Jackson shoulder-first into the ring post. Killswitch by Christian for the win.

WINNER: Christian, at 10:50. Christian did what he could to keep this together, but it really exposed how limited Jackson is. A champion lost again in a non-title situation, but Jackson didn’t come out look bad. He held his own.

2 – DANIEL BRYAN vs. HEATH SLATER

Cole continued to bash Bryan on commentary. Dropkick by Bryan, who went for the LeBell Lock early on. Slater got to the ropes to break. He went to ringside to regroup as they went to break 45 seconds into the match.

Back at 4:47, and Bryan took Slater down with an arm-drag. Bryan continued on the offense until Slater dodged a corner charge and landed a neck-breaker for two. Back elbow by Slater as Bryan came off the ropes. Hard whip into the buckle by Slater. Booker said Slater has the charisma of “a bowl of turnips.” Pin by Slater for two. Bryan flipped out of the corner and hit his running elbow at 8:22. Slater was back-dropped to ringside and Bryan got a running start, then jumped off the apron and kneed Slater in the face. The announcers were too busy arguing about Heath Slater’s nickname to actually portray that as a unique and cool move. Back in the ring, Slater came back with a spinebuster. The men traded inside cradles, and another pin attempt by Slater. Bryan applied a submission move, using a front face-lock. Slater tapped out.

WINNER: Bryan, at 10:52. Not a good start for Bryan as MITB winner if it takes him almost 11 minutes to finish off someone like Heath Slater, who has done nothing of note as of late.

3 – WADE BARRETT vs. SHEAMUS

Mathews announced that Sin Cara suffered fractured ribs and will be out at least four weeks. Barrett booted Sheamus down and got a two-count. Barrett used the ropes to take the punishment to Sheamus. He pulled Sheamus in from the apron and registered a two-count. Cole said that with D. Bryan in Booker’s Fave Five, he’s surprised Harvey Wippleman isn’t in there either. Irish Curse back-breaker by Sheamus for two. Big forearm to the chest of Barrett, then another. Sheamus ran the apron and kicked Barrett in the head for a two-count. The men brawled on the outside, each trading the upper hand. Sheamus was thrown into the barricade. Barrett lifted him and they went to the announce table as Charles Robinson’s count reached ten.

WINNER: Double count-out, at 4:29. Fine big man match, especially given their experience.

Barrett rolled Sheamus back into the ring, but Sheamus caught Barrett with a Brogue Kick. Testing the waters for a Sheamus face turn? They replayed some of the hard-hitting moments from ringside.

4 – RANDY ORTON vs. KANE – STREET FIGHT

Kane went on offense to start, but Orton got a boot up on a corner charge. Thesz Press, but Kane grabbed Orton by the throat. Orton fought out, and Kane dodged an RKO, clotheslining him over the top and to ringside. Kane and Orton fought up the ramp (no count-outs in a Street Fight). A Kendo stick came into play, with Orton walloping Kane with it. That appeared to please Orton. Cole said Orton “shows no absence of malice.” That sounds really scripted, too. Back in the ring, this time Kane dumped Orton out. Orton was thrown into the barricade at 3:10. They cut to break at 3:19.

Back at 7:05 with Kane hammering away on Orton with rights inside the squared circle. Orton got to a vertical base and started in on Kane with rights. He low-bridged Kane, who was sent to ringside in front of the announcers. Orton attempted an axe-handle off the apron, but Kane met him with an uppercut. Kane began to disassemble the announce desk. Kane wanted a chokeslam, but Orotn landed on his feet atop the table. He kicked Kane, but slid off the table and the table went on its side. Orton immediately grabbed his knee, then got to his feet and gave the Dikembe Mutombo finger shake. After sending Kane into the steps, the camera showed Orton on his knees in pain. He kept holding that right leg as he set Kane’s leg up on the bottom half of the steel steps. He then stomped he ankle and brought the top of the stairs down on Kane’s lower leg. Orton convalesced on the steps as they took another break at 11:14.

Show returned at 14:26 of the match. Kane was on offense inside the ring, limping around on the leg that Orton injured before break. Orton avoided a top rope attack from Kane, and then shoved him shoulder-first into the ring post. Mathews said during the break, doctors attempted to talk to Orton about his injury, but he shoved them off and wanted to continue. Rope-assisted DDT by Orton. He started getting the crazy eyes, then went down to ready for the RKO. Kane got to his feet, but Kane shoved off another RKO attempt. Sidewalk slam by Kane for two at 16:13. Kane went to the top again, and this time, the clothesline connected. Kane was about to go for the chokeslam, but instead, Orton RKO’d him out of nowhere. Kane kicked out. That’s surprising – kicking out of the RKO is usually reserved for PPVs. Orton lined up for the punt, but Kane got to his feet and chokeslammed Orton. Right into the cover, but Orton kicked out at 18:20. They went to yet another break at 18:45.

At 22:08, the show returned and Kane grabbed a chair from ringside. The chair was used on Orton’s abdominals and his back. Kane crouched and readied for the chokeslam…but instead, picked Orotn up for a Tombstone on the chair. Orton floated out the back and ran into a choke. Instead, RKO on the chair for the win.

WINNER: Orton, at 23:33. Pretty ambitious match for a guy Kane’s size and age, but give him credit for pulling it off.

Orton posed on the turnbuckle, then notice Kane getting back to his feet. Kane offered a hand and Orton shook it. That seemed to be the exact opposite feeling that Kane was going for in his pre-match promo. After replaying some key moments of the match, the camera stayed on Kane, who was on his feet in the ring. Orton had already headed backstage, and at this point, Mark Henry walked to the ring. Kane made the first move once Henry got into the ring, but Henry, with one kick to the leg, ended Kane’s brief offense. Henry brought Kane’s knee down onto the mat. World’s Strongest Slam followed. Big splash, then a “you suck” chant from the fans. Henry went over by the announcers, and they all fled in terror. Henry picked out a chair and put Kane’s leg in it. Referee Jack Doan pleaded with Henry to stop, but it was to no avail. Henry went to the second rope and gave Kane’s leg the Big Show treatment. Nice that they had set that up during the match with Orton, too. “I run the show!” shouted Henry to no one in particular. Referees tended to an injured Kane as we got a close-up of Henry, at ringside, yelling for Kane to “stay down” to close things out.

WWE RAW Results: 7-25-11

Results courtesy of PWTorch.com (direct link to Caldwell's complete report). Condensed here to in-ring results only.

1 -- THE MIZ vs. REY MYSTERIO -- Finals of WWE Title tournament

Back-and-forth action early on as they were feeling each other out for a long-form match. Miz landed signature offense, then KO'ed Rey on the floor with a whip into the ring steps. They cut to a break at 4:30.

Back from break, Lawler said this isn't "some boring political rhetoric," but a WWE Title match between Miz and Mysterio. Miz was still working over Rey and scored a close nearfall. Cole stressed the importance of the match, saying Miz will "lead the charge" for WWE's future. Rey came back with a seated sentaun at 9:30, followed by a high cross-body for a close two count. Miz came back with a kick strike to the gut followed by a kneeling DDT for a two count of his own. Miz, frustrated, followed with two kick strikes to the face, but Rey kicked out again. Cole told Miz to calm down and take his time. Lawler said everyone around the world is waiting for this moment. Rey then came back with a 619 tease, but Miz avoided, then hit a sit-out powerbomb after bouncing Rey back-first off the top rope. Nice. It was good for a two count only. Miz collected himself, then stalked Rey for the Skullcrushing Finale, but Rey blocked. Miz then smashed his bad right knee into the turnbuckles, giving Rey an opening for a head scissors into the 619. The crowd roared as Rey climbed up top and delivered a flying splash. Rey with the cover and it was good for the win. Rey is the new WWE champion.

Backstage: They showed the babyface wrestlers and Divas applauding. R-Truth was annoyed. Back in the ring, Rey accepted the new WWE Title belt as the crowd continued to cheer wildly. Suddenly, Miz attacked Rey from behind on his "one good leg." The ref tried to get Miz out of the ring as Rey sold in the corner.

WINNER: Rey Mysterio at 13:18 to become new WWE champion. Good action and a hot start to the show. (**1/2)

Suddenly, as expected, Alberto Del Rio's music hit. Del Rio came down to ringside with the MITB briefcase in-hand and with a referee. Del Rio said he wanted to cash in right now, but Rey came flying over the top rope with a splash onto Del Rio. Del Rio then grabbed his briefcase and shouted he's not cashing in now. Cole noted Rey was victimized by the MITB cash-in (Kane) last year, and he's not falling for it again. Rey then re-celebrated in the ring as Del Rio recovered on the entrance ramp. After a replay of the Rey-Miz finish, Cole repeated it's not political rhetoric, but live action from WWE.

2 -- U.S. champion DOLPH ZIGGLER (w/Vickie Guerrero) vs. EVAN BOURNE -- non-title match

Cole said a victory for Bourne could put him in U.S. Title contention. Fast-paced action to start the match and Bourne cleared Ziggler to the floor with a leaping dropkick. Back in the ring, Bourne landed a kick strike, but missed with an enzuigiri and Ziggler responded with a rocker-dropper for a two count. As Ziggler worked over Bourne, Lawler talked up Bourne as a scrappy underdog who just oh so luckily finds a way to win matches. Lawler started off talking about Bourne as a wrestler worth getting behind, then found a way to define him down as a scrappy enhancement talent. Lawler added a political dig at Obama as Bourne scored a close nearfall. The two called a sequence after a bit of miscommunication, then set up the finish. Bourne went up top for Air Bourne, but Ziggler moved and nailed the Zig-Zag. Ziggler then scooped up Bourne and slapped on the sleeperhold. The ref called for the bell, giving Ziggler the submission win. Post-match: Ziggler called out to anyone in the locker room to follow that.

WINNER: Ziggler at 3:28. Good start, then an awkward ending. WWE isn't about to position the U.S. Title as anything more than a mid-card title, but they could be doing more with Ziggler. (*1/4)

3 -- Divas champion KELLY KELLY & EVE vs. MELINA & MARYSE

The heels isolated Eve early on to set up Kelly's hot tag and comeback. The action broke down when Kelly mocked Maryse, then Kelly scored the decisive pinfall via rocker dropper on Melina.

WINNERS: Kelly & Eve at 2:36. WWE is continuing to build up Kelly's profile as champ, while lining up no challengers to the title.

18 1/2 minutes of Triple H talking, the return of Jim Ross and John Morrison. Good stuff.

4 -- MICHAEL COLE vs. ZACK RYDER

Ryder quickly decked Cole, who stumbled across the ring. Ryder followed with the Rough Ryder and it was over in less than 30 seconds. Ryder got a few seconds to shine in the post-match before the camera re-focused on Cole selling a frustrating night at the office.

WINNER: Ryder at 0:26. Not much shine for Ryder. It was more like WWE trying to "disarm" underground momentum behind Ryder by throwing his supporters a bone.

5 -- KOFI KINGSTON vs. ALBERTO DEL RIO

Del Rio aggressively went after Kofi to start the match. Kofi then tried to spin around Del Rio for a sunset flip bomb and they nearly tripped over themselves before Kofi scored a nearfall. Kofi knocked Del Rio to the floor moments later and Del Rio went running up the ramp when Kofi teased a suicide dive. They cut to break at 1:00 with Del Rio regrouping.

Del Rio was in control back from break. Del Rio then missed with a corner attack and Kingston sprung off the top rope with a cross-body splash for a two count. Kofi followed with the Boom Drop before setting up for Trouble in Paradise. Kingston sold a shoulder injury during the set up, though, and Del Rio ducked before delivering a single arm DDT for a two count. Suddenly, they traded close nearfalls near the ropes. The crowd thought Kofi scored a three count, but Del Rio grabbed the bottom rope just in time. Del Rio followed with a slingshot across the top rope before slapping on the cross arm-breaker. After the arm injury, Kofi had no choice but to tap out.

WINNER: Del Rio via submission at 7:17. Fine, competitive match giving Kofi a close nearfall to save face before Del Rio scored the decisive fall. It was your standard Del Rio match in terms of in-ring work. (*3/4)

6 -- WWE champion REY MYSTERIO vs. JOHN CENA -- WWE Title match

A feeling-out process started things off as Lawler speculated on whether Cena knew he would be receiving a WWE Title shot tonight when he congratulated Mysterio on his title victory at the top of the show. The crowd started a dueling "Let's go Cena" / "Cena sucks" chant as Cena spilled to the floor. Lawler said Cena is a controversial figure and Ross said the bottom line is every seat is filled. On the floor, Rey and Cena avoided each other's offense before Cena delivered a knockdown clothesline that splattered Rey on the floor. Cena made a cover back in the ring, but Rey kicked out. Cena then grappled Rey from behind with a waistlock, trying to wear down the champion. Rey eventually countered with a bulldog for a two count.

Suddenly, Cena teased the STF, but Rey easily grabbed the ropes for a break. Rey then followed with a double springboard moonsault for a two count. Rey tried to follow with a 619, but Cena caught Rey and flowed into a powerslam for a two count. Cena then started his trademark comeback routine, but Rey dropkicked Cena in the shoulder to block the flying shoulder tackle. They traded moves, then Cena delivered a sit-out slam and delivered the Five Knuckle Shuffle. Cena wanted the Attitude Adjustment, but Rey elbowed out. Rey then tried a springboard splash, but Cena caught him in mid-air. Rey quickly countered with an awkward-looking head scissors into a dropkick for a two count.

Both men recovered on the mat at the top of the hour as the crowd came to life anticipating a finish. Rey executed a top-rope sentaun, but Cena kicked out and tried the STF, but Rey countered into an STF of his own. It didn't look too pretty with the smallish Rey draping his arms across Cena's body. Rey tried to maintain the hold, but Cena powered to his feet and countered into AA position, but Cena's knees buckled. Cena sold a knee injury and Rey followed with the 619 as Cena tried to collect himself on the ropes. Rey then went up top for a signature splash, but Cena got his knees up to block.

The action reset as Cena sold a left knee injury. The crowd was fully invested at this point. Both men hobbled to their feet, selling injuries. Rey tried a top-rope huracanrana, but Cena threw Rey across the ring and Rey nearly landed on his neck. Dangerous spot. Cena then climbed up top for a guillotine leg drop and kind of connected for a two count on Rey. The crowd popped for the nearfall, then Cena collected himself and looked for more offense. Cena was the first man up and wanted the AA, but Rey elbowed out again. Rey then set up for a 619 again, but Cena scooped him right up into the AA. Cena made a quick cover and it was good for the win. Cena is new WWE champion.

WINNER: Cena at 12:52 to capture the WWE Title. They got it back where they wanted with Cena on top. The match was strong in terms of drama and crowd involvement, but some of the spots were off and they struggled with in-ring chemistry at times. Overall, good TV main event thanks to the drama & crowd. (**3/4)

WWE NXT Results: 7-26-11

Results courtesy of PWTorch.com (direct link to Caldwell's complete report). Condensed here to in-ring results only.

1 -- TITUS O'NEIL vs. DERRICK BATEMAN

The announcers noted this is Titus's contest to lose as the clear frontrunner to win. Grisham noted both Rookie's Pros are not present (Hornswoggle for Titus and Bryan for Bateman) and they're hanging out backstage watching carefully. Titus dominated early on, so Bateman bailed to the floor. Darren Young then walked down to encourage Bateman to get himself together.

Back from break, Regal was trying to make sense of why Young was in Bateman's corner after Bateman cost him his match last week. In the ring, Bateman was in control trying to wear down Titus. Grisham proposed the idea that perhaps Bateman and Young are trying to take out Titus from the competition since he's the favorite. A side headlock isn't going to cut it, which Titus easily escaped. Bateman resumed control of the match, then tried to finish the match with a top-rope move, but Titus easily avoided and mounted a comeback.

Titus delivered a stiff elbow, and the ref was momentarily distracted when Bateman rebounded out of the corner, which allowed Young to trip Titus from the outside. This set up Bateman to hit a bulldog of sorts for the pin and the win. Post-match: Young celebrated with Bateman and raised his hand in victory. Meanwhile, the announcers continued to try to figure out the Bateman and Young alliance.

WINNER: Bateman at 8:28. Basic NXT match. Bateman isn't getting over as a heel and the whole storyline seems to be lost on the audience.

2 -- TYSON KIDD vs. YOSHI TATSU -- Necklace on a Pole match

Kidd made an early lunge for the pole, but Yoshi yanked him down and landed a headbutt. They went back-and-forth during the first four minutes before taking the fight to the top turnbuckle below the pole. Kidd and Yoshi traded blows as if they were on top of a ladder in a ladder match, then knocked each other clear off the top turnbuckle to the floor below. They cut to break with both men selling.

Back from break, Kidd had Yoshi in a Liontamer inside the ropes. There's no rope break here, so Kidd was able to keep the hold locked in for as long as he wanted. Kidd then knocked Yoshi to the floor and tried a slow crawl to the pole, but Yoshi scrambled back into the ring to cut off Kidd. Yoshi landed multiple kick strikes to KO Kidd, then climbed the pole as the crowd roared, but Kidd crotched him at the last second. They battled up the pole and Yoshi reached up to grab the figure as Kidd executed a back suplex from the top rope. The ref unfolded Yoshi's hand and saw the figure in-hand, then called for the bell, giving Yoshi the win.

Yoshi celebrated as Regal said this (the effort in the ring, as opposed to the gimmick) is what made him proud to become part of this business. He said he hopes everyone in the back was watching to see how to up his or her game. Post-match: Kidd snapped on Yoshi, trying to take apart his left knee in the ring and out of the ring. Grisham questioned Kidd getting himself noticed this way. Kidd then wrapped Yoshi's legs around the ringpost with a classic Bret Hart figure-four. Multiple refs tried to break it up as Yoshi cried in pain. Kidd was then "rewarded" with his music playing as he flashed a heel smile toward the injured Yoshi. Kidd walked past the remnants of Yoshi's action figure before they replayed the finish.

WINNER: Yoshi at 10:16. Pretty decent gimmick match, with the crowd invested in the outcome. Kidd and Yoshi continue to keep themselves half-way relevant despite getting little TV time on the main shows.

WWE Superstars Results: 7-28-11

Results courtesy of PWTorch.com (direct link to Caldwell's complete report). Condensed here to in-ring results only.

1 -- HEATH SLATER vs. TRENT BARRETA

Trent quickly knocked Slater to the floor and landed a flip-dive that took its toll on both men. Back in the ring, Trent made a cover for a nearfall. Slater then took control of the action and scored a nearfall as they went to break. Moments before they cut to break, and after the announcers fed to break, a lone voice in the silent arena shouted, "Heath Slater, I hate you!"

Back from break, the wrestlers went back and forth as Korpela and Striker said Triple H will have some answers on the WWE Title situation tomorrow night on Smackdown and more answers will be available on Monday's Raw. Slater became frustrated with his inability to put away Barreta, which gave Trent another opening for a comeback. Trent then missed with a top rope corkscrew splash and that was all Slater needed to score with a reverse DDT for the pin and the win.

WINNER: Slater at 7:44. It's just not there yet for Slater as a singles wrestler.

2 -- WWE tag champions NEW NEXUS (MICHAEL MCGILLICUTTY & DAVID OTUNGA) vs. SANTINO & CHRIS MASTERS -- non-title match

Scott Stanford noted Kozlov is still perplexed at Santino choosing a lot of different partners lately, and partners are lining up to team with Santino because he can "get it done" in the ring. Stanford also noted New Nexus is wearing a special oil to more easily slip out of the Masterlock. Per the Santino tag match formula, Santino teased the Cobra early on, but Otunga cleared him to the floor. On the outside, Mike landed a knockdown clothesline that put Santino in trouble heading to break.

Back from break, Stanford reset the action that Nexus is looking to avenge last week's loss to Santino and Zack Ryder. The heels continued to wear down Santino in the process of trying to prove their point. Santino escaped Mike with a jawbreaker and made the hot tag to Masters, who ripped off a series of chops followed by a flying elbow smash. Masters then executed a spinebuster and Otunga broke up the pin. Santino re-emerged with a Socko-like "enhancer" to his Cobra, which he used to the back of Otunga's head. Masters then tried the Masterlock, but Mike slipped out via The Oil. Mike followed with a running neckbreaker on Masters for the pin and the win.

WINNERS: New Nexus at 7:38. Fine tag action, but New Nexus needs a new identity outside of the Nexus brand. As for Masters, he was being built up ever-so-slightly on Superstars for a while, then missed a month of TV, and is now back to being just another muscle guy.

3-- JACK SWAGGER vs. ALEX RILEY

Swagger toyed with Riley early on, using his amateur wrestling background to ground and frustrate Riley. Swagger then took the action to the floor, where he ran Riley shoulder-first into the guardrail. They cut to break with Swagger in complete control.

Swagger was still in control as Stanford relayed Riley's goal to eventually become WWE champion. Riley tried to mount a comeback, but Swagger cut him off with a clothesline. Swagger took his time following up, which gave Riley another opening to mount offense. Riley scored with a spinebuster, then did some weird gimmick pretending to throw a grenade in the air before delivering what Stanford referred to as an "A-Bomb" elbow drop. Is that his John Cena shuffle move they hope catches on with the audience?

Swagger came back with a final attempt to win via Vader Bomb and anklelock attempt, but Riley whipped Swagger into the turnbuckle. Riley followed with a running dropkick to the face before executing a spike DDT center ring. Riley with the pin for the win. Mathews suggested it was a bit of an upset for Riley. After a replay of the finish, they cut back to Riley celebrating on the way out of this week's show.

WINNER: Riley at 9:32. Fine singles match they even-stevened with Swagger dominating about six or seven minutes of the match. Riley doing this grenade bit, even in the post-match celebration, seems a bit...off.

TNA Impact Wrestling Results: 7-28-11

Results courtesy of PWTorch.com (direct link to Keller's complete report). Condensed here to in-ring results only.

1 -- ROB VAN DAM vs. GUNNER -- Bound for Glory Series Match

-Tenay noted they'd have an update later on the status of Matt Morgan in the tournament.

-In the end, RVD slipped out of Gunner's attempt at his finisher, then hit a long-distance Five-Star Frogsplash for the win.

WINNER: RVD in 6:00 to earn 7 points.

2 -- BULLY RAY vs. CRIMSON -- Bound for Glory Series Match

-Tazz said a veteran like Ray can chop down a young rookie on a hot streak like Crimson.

-Ray jumped Crimson at the bell. He stayed on him relentlessly. Tenay said it was unfamiliar territory for Crimson to be on the defensive several minutes into the match. Tenay said his undefeated streak is at risk.

-Crimson at 4:00 hit the Red Sky sitout powerbomb out of nowhere for the win. Ray looked on in disbelief as Crimson celebrated at ringside.

WINNER: Crinson in 4:00.

3 -- WINTER (w/Angelina Love) vs. TARA (w/Miss Tessmacher)

-Before the bell rang, ref Earl Hebner ordered Tessmacher and Love to the back.

-In the end, Tara lifted Winter for a powerbomb and apparently Hebner got hit in the face with a boot. Winter then gave Tara a low blow mule kick (the faked boos were dubbed in here) followed by a spinning backbreaker for the win. Everything about that finishing sequence screamed "Take 2."

WINNER: Winter in 3:00.

4 -- BRIAN KENDRICK vs. ABYSS -- Ultimate X Match for the X Division Title

-Kendrick attacked early, but Abyss grounded him and then looked up at the belt hanging from the crossed cables above him. He began to climb the truss, but wasn't eager to move to the cables. Kendrick recovered and went after Abyss again.

-At 4:00 Kendrick climbed his up and began to get near the belt, but Abyss yanked him down. A minute later Kendrick took Abyss down and climbed up to grab the belt, but as he grabbed it, Abyss yanked him down.

-When Abyss lifted Kendrick into the air in a powerbomb position, Kendrick was high enough to reach up and grab the belt to win the match.

WINNER: Kendrick in 5:00 to retain the X Division Title.

5 -- KURT ANGLE vs. MR. ANDERSON -- Cage Match

-They joined the match just under way as Tenay and Taz said this isn't even an official match because Sting had no actual authority to make the match.

-After several minutes of back and forth action and some near falls, Angle kicked out after a Mic Check at 5:00. Anderson tried to escape the cage, but Angle grabbed Anderson's ankle. Anderson kicked Angle off of him and then clotheslined him.

-When Anderson climbed to escape over the cage, Angle met him on top and suplexed him to the mat. That was good for a two count. Immortal ran down the ramp and brawled with Fortune at ringside. Mexican America joined in, siding with Immortal. Bully Ray hid at ringside as Angle dropped his straps and waited for Anderson to stand. Ray yanked at Angle's singlet from the camera hole in the cage. Anderson hit him from behind. Anderson then ordered Ray to do his job and give him a chair. Ray opened the cage door and asked Anderson what he called him. Anderson said, "Sweetheart." They argued and yanked on the chair. Angle then got up and gave Anderson an Angle Slam for the win.

WINNER: Angle in 8:00.

-As Angle celebrated, his music was cut off by Sting's. Sting met Angle in the cage for a staredown. Then he raised Angle's arm into the air and reminded him of their match in ten days at Hardcore Justice as the show ended.

WWE Smackdown Results: 7-29-11

Results courtesy of PWTorch.com (direct link to Park's complete report). Condensed here to in-ring results only.

1 – CHRISTIAN vs. JOHN MORRISON

Truth was shown watching the match on a monitor backstage. Christian was taken to the outside early on, and had to get Morrison to back up to get in the ring. I’m surprised they gave away Morrisons’ return match with such little fanfare, but then again, they probably don’t think Morrison will move the needle anyway. Still, it makes the guy seem like a big deal when you advertise his return ahead of time. Flying Chuck kick by Morrison for two at 1:22. Morrison dove onto Christian on the outside of the ring. He went back in as the ref admonished him and they went to break at 1:58 of the match.

Back at 6:20 with Christian in control. They showed Christian shoving Morrison back (and neck) first into the barricade. Morrison avoided a Tornado DDT and came back with clotheslines and a jumping leg kick. Flap jack by Morrison after Christian dodged Moonlight Drive. Spinebuster by Christian for two. C4 by Morrison for two, but he clutched his neck after the pin attempt. Out of nowhere, Spear by Christian for a near-fall. At 10:00, the two men fought on the top rope. Morrison landed a back body-drop. He tried a moonsault and landed on his feet when Christian moved (well, he didn’t exactly stick the landing). Christian brought Morrison neck first over the top rope, then hit the Killswitch for the win.

WINNER: Christian, at 10:35. Had to think Christian would win here, but not sure why they had him go over Morrison, who looked a bit rusty.

2 – NATALYA & KAITLYN & AJ vs. ALICIA FOX & ROSA MENDES & TAMINA

Natalya tried a crucifix roll-up, but Tamina held on. Tamina kicked her off on a Sharpshooter attempt, then gave her a Samoan drop. Fox, with a new hairdo this week, put Nattie in a head-scissors. Natalya, still in the move, got to her feet, then dropkicked Fox when she was stuck in the Tree of Woe. AJ made the hot tag and took Fox down with a headscissors. Running knee to the face, but a pin attempt was broken up by the heels. They were taken out by the other faces. Fox walked into an elbow in the corner, but AJ missed a cross-body block. Scissors kick by Fox (quite ugly) picked up the win. Cole said AJ was wearing argyle out of the Kerwin Silfies collection. Silfies is a director on WWE TV programming.

WINNERS: Fox, Rosa, and Tamina, at 2:12. Hard for Kaitlyn and Rosa to improve when they don’t get to see action, short as the matches are.

3 – MARK HENRY vs. BOBBY HOWARD

Howard looked the part of a nervous jobber in the ring. Henry grabbed Howard by the throat, lifted him up, and dropped him down. World’s Strongest Slam by Henry. Then another. Then a back-breaker for the win.

WINNER: Henry, at 1:06. See, squash matches CAN be effective.

Henry went to ringside after the match and grabbed a chair from ringside. He set up Howard to destroy his ankle, as he had done to Show and Kane. Long’s music played and Teddy ran to the ring to stop Henry. He said they go way back, but Henry can’t compete anymore. Henry yelled that he wants competition and said, “this is the trash you bring me?” Long said there’s already a lawsuit pending and he can’t let him do this. Then Sheamus’ music hit and he walked to the ring. Now this is how you can turn a guy babyface.

Sheamus took the mic from Long and volunteered to fight Henry. Sheamus said Henry is just big, and after all, Henry even said bigger isn’t better. Sheamus told the story about a high King of Ireland who had an illegitimate son. He said a fairy once came and tapped the bastard on the shoulder, turning him into a 420 pound bag of crap, that being Henry. Crowd chanted for Sheamus. Henry said Sheamus talks to much so Sheamus decked Henry. Henry paused, then charged at Sheamus, who low-bridged Henry out of the ring. Sheamus held Henry at bay with a chair, so a frustrated Henry threw the top of the ring steps at the ropes. Henry decided to survive and fight another day, so he headed to the back as Sheamus’ music played. Nicely done here.

4 – THE USOS vs. THE NEW NEXUS – WWE TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH

Double elbow-drop by the Usos early on. Michael McGillicutty took over, then tagged David Otunga. A roll up by Jimmy Uso for two. Otunga settled into a rear chin-lock at 1:15 of the match. Jimmy tossed him into the ropes and connected on a heel kick. Both men made tags and Jey took it to McGillicutty. Booker complained of the lack of quick tags, 1:46 into the match. Otunga broke up a pin, then hurled Jimmy off the apron and to the floor. Jey went to the top for a splash, but Otunga, with the ref’s attention diverted, knocked Jey off the top rope. McGillicutty with a neck-breaker for the win.

WINNERS: New Nexus, at 2:31. That’s almost insulting that a tag title match would go that short, especially since it seems like they’ve been building up the Usos lately.

5 – EZEKIEL JACKSON vs. CODY RHODES & TED DIBIASE – HANDICAP MATCH

Cody’s baggers were ever-present before the match. DiBiase and Rhodes did some double-teaming at the start, but Jackson knocked’em both down. DiBiase got Jackson down and choked him in the bottom rope. Neck-breaker by DiBiase. Teddy Jr. got shaken up and tagged Rhodes in. Multiple bodyslams by Zeke, then he put Cody in the Torture Rack. DiBiase broke it up and was thrown over the top rope for his troubles. Rhodes tried his finisher but Jackson shrugged it off. DiBiase distracted Jackson, who ended up missing a corner charge. Cross Rhodes on Jackson for the win.

WINNERS: Rhodes and DiBiase, at 2:25. Again, seemed a little short for where these three are in the feud.

6 – R-TRUTH vs. RANDY ORTON

A few shoulderblocks too Truth down as Booker touted Orton’s “professionalism” inside the ring. Is this the same Orton whose character is that he can’t control himself and often goes too far? Jumping heel kick got two for Truth at 1:35 of the match. The fight went to the outside, and Truth got the best of that exchange. “R-Truth sucks” chant from the Philly crowd. On the apron, Truth poked Orton in the eyes, then brought him down over the top rope with a stunner. Jaw-breaker by Truth inside the ring for a two-count. Christian came out to get a closer look at the match at 3:26, and they went to break at 3:37.

Back at 7:15 of the match, with Orton beginning a comeback. However, it was brief, as Truth connected on his Lie Detector for two. Truth came off the top and was nailed in the mid-section by Orton. He got a boot up on a Truth charge and Orton steamrolled him with clotheslines. Rope-assisted DDT at 9:48 of the match. He set up for an RKO. Truth and Orton instead went to ringside. Christian got on the apron on the other end of the ring so the ref couldn’t see Truth hit Orton in the head with a water bottle. Truth went into the ring as Orton stayed on the outside, water bottle in hand. He took a sip, then entered the ring and tackled Truth. Orton rolled to ringside and grabbed a chair. Christian was already headed up the ramp when Orton connected on a chair-shot to the mid-section of Truth, drawing a DQ.

WINNER: Truth, via disqualification, at 11:30.

After the match, Orton began to take apart the announce table. He knocked Truth in the head with one of the monitors, and you could see he was bleeding a bit from the lip. Christian was shown watching atop the ramp, covering his mouth in shock. Orton RKO’d Truth on the announce table – it didn’t break. Orton got to the bottom of the ramp as Christian uneasily held the title. Orton put his hand on his head (Cole assumed he was hearing voices). Well, he was…the crowd chanted “one more time.” Orton adhered to the crowd’s demands and RKO’d Truth a second time on the table. Again, it did not break. His music then played as he alternated between smiling and frowning, while Christian clutched his title close to his chest on top of the ramp as the show closed.

WWE RAW Results: 8-1-11

Results courtesy of PWTorch.com (direct link to Caldwell's complete report). Condensed here to mostly in-ring results.

- CM Punk opened up RAW along with Triple H for the first 20 minutes...

1 -- #1 CONTENDER DIVAS BATTLE ROYAL

Divas champion Kelly Kelly was on commentary, creating a four-person booth to fight over airtime during the first two minutes. The bell sounded and participants from the Raw and Smackdown women's rosters started flying out of the ring. With it down to a near-Final Four, they cut to break at 1:55.

The Bellas, Eve, and Beth were still in the match back from break. The Bellas eliminated Eve, then celebrated as if they won, but Beth eliminated them to win the match. Afterward, Beth celebrated the win and Kelly joined her in the ring, but Beth turned heel with an attack on Kelly. Beth then grabbed the mic and told Kelly her title run is over.

WINNER: Phoenix at 7:12 to become #1 contender - Kelly vs. Beth at Summerslam. Exit Kharma and (finally) Enter Beth.

2 -- THE MIZ & R-TRUTH vs. JOHN MORRISON & REY MYSTERIO

The bell sounded and Cole picked up the social media plugs again, telling viewers to vote on who should be real WWE champion, which could influence Hunter's decision later in the show. Continuing the "appearance of change" theme, Cole is handling most of the commentary, with Lawler adding color, and Ross adding a few comments here and there. As the match progressed, it shifted to Ross handling the wrestling play-by-play and Cole handling the social media/announcement aspect by continuing to plug Miz's presence in pop culture last week. The match went to break at 2:10 after the faces cleared the heels to the floor with some high-flying offense.

Back from break, the heels were working over Rey after taking control during the match. Ross tried to stress the value of the WWE Title by discussing Rey's rollercoaster night last week when he won and lost the WWE Title. Prior to that, WWE completely missed that "human interest" story after Rey's promo wanting to take the title back home to his family last week. Cole continued to plug Twitter items from WWE as they reached the top of the hour with Rey still in trouble.

Mysterio continued to take a beating from Miz and Truth as they reached 10:00. Miz then tried a top rope move, but Rey intercepted Miz with a mid-air dropkick. Morrison then hot-tagged as Truth tagged in. Morrison got some of Truth before clearing Miz to the floor. Morrison scored a nearfall following a standing Flux Capacitor before positioning Truth in the corner.

Morrison wanted Starship Pain, but Miz pulled Truth out of the way. Rey then splashed Miz on the floor to take him out. Back in the ring, Morrison with an A.J. Styles-style Pele Kick on Truth. It positioned Truth for the 619, but Miz yanked Rey to the floor and tossed him over the guardrail. The crowd was hot before Morrison KO'ed his former partner with a step-up enziguiri. Truth then surprised Morrison with his finisher and it was good for the win. Cole framed it as Miz sacrificing himself for the good of the team.

Post-match: Miz, holding his jaw to sell the kick from Morrison, then grappled Morrison from behind and delivered the Skullcrushing Finale. Ross called it uncalled for. Cole said it's 2011 and that doesn't matter. More of that third theme that Raw doesn't have True North on the compass to set up heels to get heat and faces to overcome injustices. Ross added to the show helps, but Cole taking over commentary washes out Ross's voice. Truth then brought in his Steel Water Bottle to smash Morrison in the face to add insult to injury. Miz and Truth celebrated to conclude the segment.

WINNERS: Miz & Truth at 11:04. One of those Raw matches with a good dose of athleticism to excite the crowd, not amounting to much more than a self-contained segment, and giving the announcers a chance to talk up pop culture. (**)

3 -- WWE tag champions DAVID OTUNGA & MICHAEL MCGILLICUTTY vs. ZACK RYDER & SANTINO -- non-title match

The heel tag champs worked on Santino early on, prompting a "We want Ryder" chant from the vocal males. Cole said Ryder is the self-proclaimed Internet champion and he spent $1,500 on his own title belt. He said it's as goofy as Lawler buying his own crown. Lawler asked Cole about speaking into a microphone and calling himself a broadcaster. Ryder hot-tagged into the match, which drew a reaction, then Ryder delivered a Broski Boot as Cole continued to heel on Ryder. Santino tried to get involved with his Socko-like Cobra, but was cleared to the floor. Mike then blocked a Rough Ryder as Ross strategically referred to Mike's background, noting he has good DNA. Moments later, Otunga scored a pin on Ryder to douse more water on Ryder.

WINNERS: Otunga & Mike at 2:25. More of that "appearance of change" getting Ryder in a match on Raw, but not doing anything with him.

4 -- EVAN BOURNE vs. ALBERTO DEL RIO

Bourne scored with an early head scissors as Cole continued to heel on Ross for being "special guest" for a few weeks before Summerslam. Lawler shot back he's permanent. Cole then talked up Del Rio's resume, including he's a former mixed martial artist. Heel Cole continued to engage Dated Lawler before Ross tried to bring the focus back to the match. And back to Cole vs. Lawler. Meanwhile, Bourne tried to fire back on Del Rio with kick strikes before quickly going up top. Bourne was then intercepted by Del Rio, who dropped Bourne with an enziguiri. Del Rio then followed right up with the cross arm-breaker center-ring. Bourne had no choice but to tap out after fighting for five seconds.

Post-match, Del Rio celebrated the win before pointing down to Bourne to gloat. Del Rio wasn't done, though, and reapplied the arm-breaker on Bourne. Ross asked if Del Rio is trying to prove a point. Kofi Kingston, in street clothes, then stormed the ring and chased Del Rio, who quickly left the ring. Kingston called out to Del Rio to come get some before checking on Bourne.

WINNER: Del Rio via submission at 3:39. Basic storytelling to reinforce Del Rio as a viable threat to the WWE champion, whoever that turns out to be.

- Final segment of the show was Triple H determining that John Cena will wrestle CM Punk for the undisputed championship at SummerSlam (another 15 minutes or so of talking).

WWE NXT Results: 8-2-11

In-ring results: PWTorch.com (direct link to Caldwell's complete report).

1 -- JTG vs. KOZLOV

Kozlov completely dominated early on, toying with JTG while having fun with his costume. JTG then punched Kozlov in the mouth, which turned happy-fun-time into Kozlov-beats-up-JTG time. Kozlov knocked JTG into the corner and they cut to break

Back from break, JTG was in control and executed a flying dropkick. Kozlov's undershirt became torn up in the process of JTG working him over. Kozlov, with some blood on his nose, suddenly got that crazy look in his eyes and made his full comeback. Kozlov eventually finished off JTG with the Iron Curtain for the pin and the win. JTG's music hit and Kozlov did some dancing to celebrate. He wasn't done, as Kozlov grabbed Grisham's cell phone ringside. Kozlov, with big MMA gloves on, managed to take a picture of himself planking on JTG's lifeless body.

WINNER: Kozlov at 7:40. It is what it is with Koz. As Greg Parks said in his real-time Twitter stream, it's WWE's version of trying to make Lance Storm or Dean Malenko seem interesting. I guess it beats Kozlov vs. Hunter for 15 boring minutes in the ring.

2 -- TITUS O'NEIL (w/Hornswoggle and A.J.) & MATT STRIKER vs. DERRICK BATEMAN & DARREN YOUNG

Titus worked against his fellow Rookies for the first 90 seconds before Striker tagged in and aggressively went after Bateman. Regal said it's an old thing where you always bring your gear to the building because you never know. Striker executed a dropkick as Grisham knocked Striker's win/loss record. Meanwhile, Hornswoggle wanted a sip from the 7-Eleven cup sitting on the announce desk. Swoggle then grunted and moaned, according to Grisham, as Grisham suggested Swoggle could be a jockey because he's so small. Regal noted he's a bit flummoxed. "Heh?" Swoggle asked. Grisham mercifully went to commercial with Bateman on the floor following a clothesline from Titus.

Back from break, Swoggle and A.J. were playing games with food as Regal tried to get them to leave him alone. Meanwhile, Striker and Young traded holds as Striker tried to turn back the clock. The heels then settled into an extended beating on Striker, while taunting Titus in the process. The crowd became angered as Regal noted the lactic acid is starting to build up in Striker to slow him down. Grisham added he saw Striker put down three pieces of chocolate cake at catering earlier today. The announcers eventually threw a question A.J.'s way, but cut her off when Striker nearly scored a sudden pin before D-Young cut him off again. A.J. kept talking as Swoggle looked on with puppy-dog eyes. Regal asked them if they need the number to his therapist.

At 10:25, Striker finally made the hot tag to Titus, who cleaned house with clotheslines over and over again. Titus then executed a powerslam on Young for a two count as Young visibly called a spot mid-cover. The action broke down moments later, then Young found himself in harm's way taking the sky-high bomb from Titus for the pin and the win. Ringside, Swoggle and A.J. clapped it up while Titus hugged it out with Striker in the ring. All four then celebrated in the ring as Regal said all of the kids are overjoyed at this joyous occasion. Grisham said it's like the finish of a Lifetime movie. Greatest Line Ever. The four continued to celebrate in the ring as the show ended.

WINNERS: Titus & Striker at 11:18. Oh, NXT. Regal made this watchable with his latest dose of superior commentary. Nothing on this show matters and, yet, they continue to stall for time until the next elimination/conclusion of the show.

WWE Superstars Results: 8-4-11

In-ring results: PWTorch.com (direct link to Caldwell's complete report).

1 -- ALICIA FOX vs. KAITLYN

The announcers played up a back-story of Fox having a problem with and trying to hold down newer women's wrestlers on the roster. Korpela described Kaitlyn as "brawny," prompting a paper towel comment from Striker in response. Korpela added that she squats over 300 pounds. Fox went to work on the rookie Diva as the crowd sat quietly. Meanwhile, Striker and Korpela continued to discuss the Cena vs. Punk match and Striker suggested they could see a new side of Cena at Summerslam not seen before. More methodical pace in the ring as the crowd tried to rally behind Kaitlyn. Kaitlyn was never able to sustain an offensive comeback and Fox finished her off with a scissors kick for the win.

WINNER: Fox at 5:18.

2 -- BRODUS CLAY vs. PAT SILVA

Striker said Clay represents the New WWE - "bigger, badder, and better." Clay clubbed on Silva with repeated kicks and stomps as Striker alluded to Tyson Kidd's old managerial storyline that if Clay is looking for representation, he's available. Korpela said Clay is tired of being a bodyguard and he believes it's his time. Clay eventually finished off poor Silva with a flying splash - labeled the Fall of Humanity - for the pin and the win. Striker called him the future of WWE.

WINNER: Clay at 1:56. Effective squash getting over all of Clay's signature offense. The theme music needs work, though.

3 -- KOZLOV vs. PRIMO

The bell sounded and JTG joined the announcers on commentary to explain his issue with Kozlov. This prompted a discussion of planking, then whether Stanford is more gangster than Mathews. In the ring, Kozlov delivered a head butt that sent Primo reeling to the floor. Back in the ring, Kozlov easily tossed Primo around and continued to give him a beating. Primo then found an escape route with a chopblock and began working over the left knee. On commentary, JTG encouraged Primo as he went for a top-rope move, but Kozlov met Primo with a mid-air headbutt. Kozlov made the cover and it was good for the win, much to JTG's chagrin. JTG noted he wasn't impressed. Kozlov then flashed a look toward JTG before strutting in the ring after his win.

WINNER: Kozlov at 3:42. A little stretch for NXT "cross-promoting" the two domestic online shows. Otherwise, standard Kozlov fare.

4 -- CHRIS MASTERS vs. JACK SWAGGER

Swagger became frustrated early on when his amateur wrestling offense couldn't secure a pin, so he bailed to the floor for a breather. Meanwhile, the announcers stressed Swagger's desire to get back to the mountaintop after tasting the World Title last year. Unrelated, Stanford noted he's trying to get some information out of Masters on "dating an A-List celebrity." Stanford dated himself a decade by listing the female cast from "Friends" as guesses he ventured, but Masters "remained tight-lipped." As Masters went to work on Swagger, Stanford said both men are looking to move up the ladder under Triple H's new regime. Swagger then popped Masters across the back of the neck with a forearm smash before starting an attack on the neck/upper back. Both men were selling the effects of the match as Stanford fed to break.

Back from break, Swagger was parading around in the ring as the crowd showed their displeasure. The two men went back and forth before Swagger went for the left knee to try to take Masters off his feet. More gloating and stalling from Swagger instead of following up on Masters, who was then able to tease the Masterlock. However, Swagger escaped, but walked into a Samoan Drop. Masters then made his comeback with a clothesline and spinebuster for a two count. Swagger cut off Masters, then went for the running Vader Bomb, but Masters blocked. Masters teased the Masterlock again, but Swagger countered into the Anklelock. After the work on the knee, Masters had no choice but to tap out.

WINNER: Swagger via submission at 11:45. Solid back-and-forth match. It was also quite noticeable during this long-form match how much Stanford has improved on commentary since becoming Raw's Superstars announcer several months ago. He sounds much more polished and knowledgeable of the in-ring product compared to when he started out.

TNA Impact Wrestling Results: 8-4-11 (next 2 posts)

In-ring results: PWTorch.com (direct link to Bax' complete report).

1- MADISON RAYNE vs. MISS TESSMACHER

Madison was still yelling at Tara as the bell rang, so Tessmacher jumped her early and did her much more visually pleasant version of the stinkface right off the bat.

But from there, Madison Rayne took control and slammed her down by her hair. Madison kept slamming her face into the mat and then stood up to scream at Mickie James. While she had her back turned, Tessmacher rolled her up for a pinfall win.

WINNER: MISS TESSMACHER in 1:30

After the match, Madison got up and assaulted Tessmacher. Mickie went to help her but Angelina Love attacked her on the ramp. Mickie got the better of James but then Winter came in and knocked Mickie over. Angelina held Mickie's hands behind her back and Winter decked her in the face with the belt. Winter taunted the unconscious Mickie as commercial hit.

2- A.J. STYLES vs. DEVON - Bound For Glory Series Match

The match started with the announcement that Styles, Daniels and Kaz would be facing Steiner, Gunner and Abyss at Hardcore Justice. Lots of stalling early as the crowd chanted for both men.

When things got going, both men traded counters before A.J. Styles hit his drop down, leapfrog, dropkick combo. But Devon fought back as The Pope walked out to ringside to sit with Devon's kids. Devon regained control with a spinning elbow but then he saw Pope at ringside and got distracted.

When he got back in the ring, AJ moved out of the way of a splash and put Devon into an armbreaker. Devon had to fight out and made it to the ropes. Both men continued to trade hands before A.J. hit a Pele Kick for a near fall.

But as A.J. stood up, he saw Christopher Daniels sitting at ringside and was his turn to be distracted. When he got back to the ring, he missed his springboard and tweaked his knee, which allowed Devon to get the quick rollup that A.J. kicked out of just after the three count.

WINNER: DEVON in 3:30 to earn 7 Bound For Glory points

After the match, Devon reluctantly went to ringside to see the Pope, who Tenay informed the audience would be facing him in a BFG Series Match at Hardcore Justice. Meanwhile, Daniels and Styles argued their way back up the ramp as Daniels said that A.J. had been avoiding him for two weeks.

3- SAMOA JOE vs. THE POPE - BFG Series Match

Morgan made a nice observation about Pope's amateur boxing background and Joe's temperment as the in-ring action started slowly. Once things got going, Pope's quickness was enough to hit a dropkick and a pair of arm drags to put Joe in a submission.

Joe fought back but Pope got out of the ring, causing Joe to chase him. This caught Joe with an Atomic Drop and some quick strikes to take Joe down. Great commentary from Morgan in this match, saying that the second Joe got a submission on, things would be over.

Devon made his way down to the ring but Joe transferred an arm drag into a Cochita Clutch and choked out Pope to win the match.

WINNER: SAMOA JOE via submission in 2:30 to win 10 BFG Series Points

Joe wouldn't let go after the match and Devon held his kids back from helping Pope. The ref warned Joe to let go and when he didn't he overturned the decision.

WINNER: THE POPE via DQ in 2:30 to win 3 BFG Series Points

Samoa Joe chased the ref backstage but he ran into the camera instead. He started channeling CM Punk as he said he understood now that the people in charge didn't want him anywhere near the Championship. He accused them of putting him into ladder matches, 3 way matches and putting crooked refs into his one vs. one matches. Joe said from this point now, the blood was on their hands.

4- BOBBY ROODE (w/ James Storm) vs. HERNANDEZ (w/ Anarquia, Rosita & Sarita) --- Street Fight

Roode came in like a house of fire and took Hernandez down multiple times with clotheslines before clotheslining him over the top rope. While Hernandez was down, Roode hit a slingshot splash onto him at ringside.

Roode then went to get a chair and hit Hernandez in the gut and across the back with it. roode threw more weapons into the ring before smashing a trash lid over Hernandez's head.

But Hernandez fought back and threw Roode face first into the steel post. He got a two count on the floor before grabbing the trash lid and hitting Roode. He threw Roode back into the ring and then hit a slingshot shoulder block to take Roode down.

Hernandez then took his belt off and smashed it over Roode's back twice before wrapping the belt around Roode's neck. But Roode fought back with punches before Hernandez clotheslined him down and smashed a trash can onto him for a two count.

Roode rolled to ringside, where Hernandez tossed him into the steel ring steps, hitting with his shoulder first. Back in the ring, Roode fought back with the trash can lid and felled Hernandez into the corner. When Roode charged him, he got a foot up into Roode's gut.

Hernandez pulled himself to the top but Roode pegged him in the head with a trash can and hit a big superplex. After both men got back up, Roode decked Hernandez thrice with a Kendo stick, the third time right between the eyes. Roode then hit his second rope neckbreaker onto Hernandez for a two count.

Hernandez was cut wide open and Roode held his arm 6:00 into this very physical match. Roode went for a shoulder block but Hernandez used his power to block him across the ring. Hernandez went for the Border Toss but Roode countered out and hit the RR Spinebuster.

He then locked in the Fujiwara Armbar that he used to hurt Ric Flair and it was enough to get him to tap. The issue was that the ref was distracted by Rosita on the ring apron and didn't see it. James Storm tried to come over to help the ref but Anarquia hit him in his injured back.

Roode no-sold a Kendo Stick shot from Sarita but when he chased her out of the ring, Hernandez rolled him up from behind and put his feet up on the rope to pull out the victory.

WINNER: HERNANDEZ in 7:15

5- AUSTIN ARIES vs. ALEX SHELLEY

Aries jumped Shelley off the bat, which will drive Wade Keller nuts, because instead of breaking it up and forcing Aries back to give Shelley a chance at a fair match, the ref just rang the bell. This has been way too common recently.

I had a feed outage right after Aries hit a slingshot slam to the outside and didn't get it back for a minute or two. I heard Tenay say that a big batch of new X Division talent would debut next week before Alex Shelley hit a spinning figure four leglock on Aries that he barely snuck to the ropes. Shelley went for a figure four again but Aries escaped and guillotined Shelley to ringside.

While Shelley was holding his head, Aries came off the top rope to ringside and hit him in the back of the head. He rolled Shelley back into the ring and went for three consecutive failed pin attempts.

Aries then pulled Shelley up to the top turnbuckle but Shelley pushed him off. Shelley hit a single leg kick that knocked Aries to ringside before a suicide dive took him down. Shelley rolled him in and went for the foot stop but missed. Lots of fast-paced action in this one.

Aries threw Shelley to ringside and put on his leather jacket to mock him. He acted like he was going to hit him with the spikes on the shoulder before ref Hebner took the jacket away. Shelley kicked him in the gut and went for Sliced Bread but Aries threw Shelley into the turnbuckle and immediately put Shelley into position for the Brainbuster, which he hit and was enough for the three count victory.

WINNER: AUSTIN ARIES in 5:55

Immediately after the match, Aries grabbed a microphone. "I beat you fair and square with a nice clean wrestling maneuver! How does that fit into your ethic?" yelled Aries. He stomped Shelley before Kendrick came into make the save.

6- SCOTT STEINER & GUNNER vs. RVD & CRIMSON - Bound For Glory Series Match

RVD and Steiner started in the ring but there was a lot of early stalling as Steiner taunted the crowd that was chanting RVD's name. RVD surprised Steiner with a body scissor before Steiner took him down and took him into the corner.

Steiner hit big chops as the crowd chanted "Steiner sucks!" before he tossed RVD into the corner. Van Dam floated over and kicked Steiner in the face but as he played to the crowd, Steiner came up from behind and hit him with a full Nelson slam.

Gunner got tagged in and actually kept fast pace with RVD, who hit an impressive leg sweep/standing Moonsault combination. RVD tagged in Crimson, who got distracted with Steiner and allowed Gunner to fight him off.

Steiner tagged in and hit some big chops before nailing a big suplex on Crimson. He taunted Van Dam before Steinerlining Crimosn and hitting him with an elbow drop into his pushups.

Gunner came back in and hit a backdrop for a two count. He climbed up top to go for the double sledge, but Crimson stopped him and hit his old finisher from his independent days where he spun him around his body into an impressive DDT.

Steiner and RVD both tagged in and Steiner hit a powerful suplex that threw Van Dam into the ropes. Van Dam fought back and hit a kick and Rolling Thunder.

RVD went for his spinning heel kick onto Steiner while he was hung up on the barrier but Gunner knocked him off the apron. But Crimson speared him and RVD hit the 5 Star Frog Splash. But he had barely hit it when Steiner came in and DDT'd him.

Steiner dumped Crimson out of the ring before going for the cover on RVD. He got a two count and decided to go high risk. Steiner put RVD on the top turnbuckle for the Frankensteiner but Crimson came out of nowhere to hit the Electric Chair Drop.

RVD recovered as Crimson was pulled out of the ring by Gunner and they brawled. Van Dam hit the Five Star Frog Splash for the pinfall victory.

WINNER: ROB VAN DAM in 7:30 to win 7 BFG Points

Van Dam is now alone in second place with 35 points. RVD & Crimson were interviewed after the match. RVD said he was going to beat everyone in the whole series. Christy Hemme said that they would face each other.

WWE Smackdown Results: 8-5-11

In-ring results: PWTorch.com (direct link to Parks' complete report).

1 – SHEAMUS vs. THE GREAT KHALI

To cement Sheamus’s face status, the camera showed several fans in the crowd cheering for him during his entrance. Michael Cole announced that Sheamus and Henry would square off at Summerslam. Khali came out with Jinder Mahal. Khali sent Sheamus to the mat after a lock-up in the early going. Sheamus hit the ropes, but was knocked down again, this time by a forearm. Sheamus went for the eyes of Khali and clubbed the big man in the chest with forearms as Khali was stuck between the ropes. Running knee-lift to Khali, then Sheamus went to the top. Khali just slapped him in the chest with an open right hand, sending Sheamus to ringside. Khali grabbed Sheamus and brought him back in the hard way. Khali kept up the offense and Sheamus fought out of the corner with sledgehammers. Josh Mathews relayed the background of Khali and Jinder Mahal. Brogue Kick by Sheamus, but Khali instead gave him the brain chop. That got a near-fall at 4:07. Khali locked in the Vice Grip, taking Sheamus to his knees. The fans became vocal in cheering on Sheamus, aiding him in getting to his feet. He broke free, then gave Sheamus a Brogue Kick (with Khali on one knee) for the win.

WINNER: Sheamus, at 5:21. Good match-up to prepare Sheamus for facing another big opponent in Mark Henry. Khali took the loss, but didn’t look bad at all.

2 – AJ vs. NATALYA

No explanation for why these two are fighting after teaming up in recent weeks. They shook hands to start the match. Mathews and Cole gave out both women’s Twitter accounts before the match. They went to a stalemate in the first minute. Headlock take-over by AJ, then an arm-drag. Booker talked about “Cowboy” Scott Casey training him, just as Nattie had been training AJ. Booker was all messed up describing what organization they were in, saying “World Class” then saying it was in “WWW….” instead of “WCCW.” Cole called him out on that. Oh, and Nattie won with a Sharpshooter.

WINNER: Natalya, via submission, at 1:57. These two could have a pretty good match if they were able to go even 5:00.

After the match, Natalya attacked AJ, throwing her out of the ring and ramming her back-first into the apron. Suplex by Natalya on AJ on the outside of the ring. Natalya got a mic and said, “Beth Phoenix, I’m with you sister. The days of the cute, perky little princesses are over.”

3 – TYSON KIDD vs. DANIEL BRYAN

Kidd was already in the ring. “Ride of the Valkyries” is no more for Bryan. Some chain wrestling to start, including a bridge by each man on pin attempts. Barrett continued his verbal assault on Bryan, as if Cole doing it on a weekly basis isn’t enough. Bryan dropkicked Kidd off the apron and to the floor. Suicide dive by Bryan took out Kidd. Leg-whip by Kidd on Bryan as Bryan entered the ring. Kidd continued to work the left leg of Bryan. Kidd wrapped the leg around the ring post. He was in control as they went to break shy of 3:00 into the match.

Back at 6:12 with Kidd continuing to work the leg. Snap suplex by Bryan, but the comeback didn’t last long. Kidd ripped him up on the top rope and went for a superplex, but Bryan blocked it. Kidd was headbutted off the top rope and Bryan landed a missile dropkick. Match reset at 8:00 with both men down. Kicks to the chest by Bryan, but Kidd blocked one and got a dragon-screw leg-whip. Half-crab by Kidd, but Bryan got to the ropes at 9:01 of the match. Barrett said he sees holes in Bryan’s game that he can exploit. Springboard elbow-drop by Kidd, but Bryan got his knees up. He tried the Lebell Lock, but Kidd rolled through. The men exchanged roll-ups for near-falls. Hard kicks by Kidd, but Bryan returned the favor with one of his own to the head. Bryan grabbed a guillotine submission (which Booker called an “anaconda” choke) and got the win.

WINNER: Bryan, via submission, at 10:23. Kidd shines in the enhancement role he’s in now, but shows flashes of being something more down the line. Obviously, his size will hold him back.

4 – ZACK RYDER vs. EZEKIEL JACKSON

Shoulder knock-down by Jackson, who then whipped Ryder into opposite turnbuckles. Sidewalk slam for two. Ryder took Jackson down in the corner, then gave him the Broski Boot (the running boot, white-washing the opponent in the face). Neck-breaker by Ryder, but Jackson came back by countering Ryder and running over him, then clotheslining Ryder in the corner. Bodyslams by Zeke, to complete silence from the crowd. Torture Rack and Ryder gave up.

WINNER: Jackson, at 2:27. There’s something poetic about someone the fans get behind, someone who isn’t cookie-cutter and hasn’t been handed anything, losing to WWE and Vince McMahon’s image of what a Superstar should look like, despite having no other discernible talent.

5 – MARK HENRY vs. VLADIMIR KOZLOV

This will be Kozlov’s last TV appearance after being released by WWE today. Kozlov did not don the hip-hop gear he wore during his match with JTG on NXT this week. Cole suggested Henry would try to one-up Sheamus after Sheamus beat Khali earlier in the night. Kozlov went after Henry in the corner, but Henry got a boot up on a charge. Headbutts to the chest by Kozlov, but Henry just ran Vlad over. World’s Strongest Slam by Henry for the win.

WINNER: Henry, at 1:16. If this was a few years ago, this would’ve been a heck of a win. At this point, Kozlov doesn’t mean much.

6 – JTG & MICHAEL MCGILLICUTTY & DAVID OTUNGA vs. TRENT BARRETA & THE USOS

Mathews said it was “only a matter of time” before JTG teamed up with the tag champs. Not sure why he thinks that. The Usos did their Polynesian war dance during their entrance. I’m glad they’re doing that; these two needed something to set them apart from everyone else. Mathews did say, like the tag champs, JTG craves the spotlight. Wouldn’t that make it less likely that they’d team up? More spotlight to share. Anyway, both teams made quick tags early on, with David Otunga registering the first near-fall short of one minute into the match. Cole got on Booker for Tweeting that Cole is a “tool” during the show, saying the same thing happened to him on Raw with JR. Double-teaming by the tag champs in the heel corner. Barreta got to shine for the babyfaces, until JTG broke up a pin. Things broke down from there, with everyone getting involved inside and outside the ring. Barreta went to the top, but missed a moonsault on McGillicutty. The champs hit their tag finisher (back-breaker/elbowdrop combo), shades of Demolition, for the win.

WINNERS: JTG, McGillicutty and Otunga, at 3:47. Fine match to showcase the tag division, and I like utilizing lower-to-mid card guys in six-man tags like this.

7 – RANDY ORTON & JOHN MORRISON vs. R-TRUTH & CHRISTIAN

Orton got the better of Truth early on. Christian tagged in to face Morrison. Morrison took Christian down and got a quick two-count. Another take-down by Christian for two. Christian came back with a type of hot-shot, zeroing in on Morrison’s neck. Truth tagged in and dished out some more punishment. Morrison with a counter to take over. Running knee to a seated Truth for only two. Christian interfered to break up the pin, and he was chased around ringside by Orton. Christian found safety in the crowd as Orton was admonished by the referee. They went to break at 3:58.

Morrison went for a springboard kick, but Truth pushed him over the top rope and to the floor. Truth patiently waited for Morrison to recover and re-enter the ring. Once he did, Truth continued the assault. Christian tagged in and stayed on offense. Neck-breaker found the mark for a two-count. Morrison took advantage of an opportunity and both men were down at 11:00. Christian got up and knocked Orton off the apron to prevent a tag from being made. C4 by Morrison put Truth down, and this time, both men made the tags. Crowd was hot for this as Orton scoop slammed Christian. Charge in the corner, but Christian got his boots up. Dropkick missed, Orton jackknife cover for two. Killswitch countered into a back-breaker for two. Side roll-up by Orton in the corner. Spinebuster by Christian. Booker called it a sidewalk slam and Cole corrected him. Orton dodged the spear, but the RKO was avoided as well. Orton pulled Christian’s leg off the second rope and lined up for the punt. Truth came in to stop it, but Morrison took care of him. Rope-assisted DDT by Orton on Christian. RKO for the interfering Truth, so Christian took advantage of the opportunity and gave Orton the Killswitch for three.

WINNERS: Christian and Truth, at 15:07.

Christian celebrated as if he had won the title all over again, standing on the announce table and dropping to his knees on the entranceway. Orton looked on in disbelief that Christian could actually pin him as the show ended.

TNA Hardcore Justice PPV Results: 8-7-11 (next three posts)

In-ring results: PWTorch.com (direct link to Caldwell's final report).

1 -- X Division champion BRIAN KENDRICK vs. AUSTIN ARIES vs. ALEX SHELLEY -- three-way X Division Title match

Kendrick and Shelley quickly floored Aries to clear the latest "anti-X Division heel" so they could wrestle each other. Aries paced around the ring as Shelley and Kendrick worked against each other, looking to pick his spot to re-enter. The match then focused on Shelley & Kendrick trying to keep Aries out of the ring before Shelley finally tried a roll-up on Kendrick for a close two count. Meanwhile, Tenay noted "big X Division news" on Impact Wrestling this week with new talent returning/debuting. Suddenly, Aries collapsed to the mat to sell an injury, leaving Shelley and Kendrick to resume their match. Moments later, Aries came to life to surprise Kendrick, clear Shelley from the ring, and work on the champion. Aries then found himself alone in the ring when he back-dropped Kendrick awkwardly over the top rope. The faces then huddled up on the floor and Aries landed a suicide dive onto both men.

Back in the ring, no one was selling and bodies started flying as they exchanged control of the match. Shelley eventually stood tall after smashing Aries off the ring apron with a superkick, then he came off the top with a flying splash to Kendrick's knee. Shelley followed with a spinning figure-four leglock and Kendrick cried out in pain. Aries re-entered to break it up, though. The men traded control of the match again with Kendrick still selling the knee work from Shelley. At 12:00, they set up a three-way corner spot and Kendrick kind of slipped to the apron and Shelley kind of fell on Aries. Aries helped the match recover by delivering rapid-fire offense before Kendrick magically recovered and flew into the ring to break up a pin. Kendrick then delivered Sliced Bread to Aries on to Shelley. Kendrick with the pin on Shelley for the win.

WINNER: Kendrick at 13:10 to retain the X Division Title. TNA has defined down the X Division as an opening-match act with little selling and rapid-fire action, which was the case in this match. Not smooth all the way through, though. As for the individuals, Aries carried himself like a star playing the heel, Shelley wasn't given a chance to stand out much, and Kendrick continues to play a deliberately awkward figure that makes him more of a spectacle than a star. (**1/2)

2 -- Knockouts tag champions MISS TESSMACHER & TARA vs. MEXICAN AMERICA (SARITA & ROSITA) -- Knockouts Tag Title match

Hernandez and Anarquia, who will be challenging for the men's Tag Titles later in the show, were given the boot from ringside before the match started. The heel challengers acted like heels to start the match by stalling to frustrate the champs. Sarita and Rosita then took turns working over Tessmacher. Tess was finally able to make a hot tag to Tara, then the action broke down in the ring. After chaos nearly allowed the challengers to score the victory, Tara eventually scored a pin for the win to retain the titles. Tessmacher and Tara had a brief post-match celebration before they cut backstage.

WINNERS: Tess & Tara at 7:08 to retain the KO Tag Titles. Completely serviceable, long-form TV match for the Knockouts. TNA also continued to build up Tessmacher, who they're focusing on as their #2 KO face below Mickie. Also, TNA has set a good pace for the PPV early on.

3 -- "THE POPE" D'ANGELO DINERO vs. BROTHER DEVON -- BFG Series match

The bell sounded despite Pope still having a mic in-hand. Devon paced around the ring and Pope said he's all about the BFG Series, but he cares more about their friendship and Devon's family. Pope said he gave Devon seven points a few weeks ago and he'll do it again. Pope placed himself on the mat to let Devon pin him, but Devon said he's not taking the points that way and told Pope to get up and fight him. Pope obliged and they started a match that quickly "turned personal" when they traded slaps. Devon and Pope traded control as Morgan passionately said he's hot with Pope for not taking this seriously because he would kill to be in this Series and have a shot at the World Title.

At 6:30, Pope left the ring to chat with Devon's family, which drew Devon out of the ring to throw Pope back into the ring. Devon went to work on Pope as Morgan encouraged Devon to have a greater sense of urgency looking for points. Pope then blocked a corner attack and landed consecutive offense. Pope followed with a top-rope cross-body splash for a close two count. Devon came right back, though, with another corner attack, but Pope blocked it again. Pope wanted the DDExpress, but paused mid-charge. Devon took advantage with a spear, but Pope rolled his shoulder to avoid a three count. Morgan was exasperated by this. Suddenly, Pope rolled up Devon out of nowhere and it was good for the win.

Post-match: Pope sold being conflicted over scoring the pin, then Devon popped up to his feet and put his hands on his hips. Pope extended his hand, saying Devon wanted to wrestle him. Devon waved him off, but locked eyes with his kids before leaving the ring. Devon then ducked back into the ring to shake hands with Pope before leaving. Devon sold frustration on the way out as the announcers said Devon wants to be a good role model for his kids.

WINNER: Pope at 9:33 to score 7 points in the BFG Series. Awkward finish after a standard Pope-quality match. Devon has improved his physical conditioning drastically and could be more valuable to the roster if moved up the card. There just isn't a clear picture of the issue between Pope and Devon for the audience to invest or care. (*1/2)

4 -- Knockouts champion MICKIE JAMES vs. WINTER (w/Angelina Love) -- Knockouts Title match

Winter was the aggressor early on, looking for a quick title win, but Mickie cut her off. Winter then gained an advantage when Angelina provided a distraction. Mickie cut her off again, though, and Winter bailed to the floor to regroup. Instead of waiting for Winter to re-enter the ring, Mickie went to the floor and ended up eating the guardrail. Back in the ring, they traded believable nearfalls after Angelina interfered behind the ref's back. Angelina tried to interfere again, but Mickie cleared her from the ring. Angelina then occupied the ref again, allowing Winter to spew a substance in Mickie's face. Winter made the cover, ref Hebner didn't see anything wrong with Mickie's face covered in a foreign substance, and Winter is the new champ. Medics checked on Mickie post-match to sell the effects of the substance.

WINNER: Winter at 8:58 to capture the Knockouts Title. There was some good, well-paced action offset by the over-booking and three instances of referee incompetence in the same match. TNA wanted to give their top KO face an "out" for losing the match and title, but they didn't have to over-do it to an unintentional comedy level. (*3/4)

5 -- ROB VAN DAM (w/Jerry Lynn) vs. CRIMSON -- BFG Series match

Crimson went for early pin attempts, trying to end this quickly. The action then moved to the ring apron, which give Direct Auto Insurance some camera-time as RVD delivered a trademark thrust kick to the floor. Crimson quickly cut off RVD on the floor, then rolled him back into the ring to deliver more punishment. They cut to a shot of Lynn trying to sell concern as Crimson continued to wear down RVD with his trademark cravate hold. A few minutes later, RVD came back with the Five-star Frogsplash, but took a while to make the cover, which allowed Crimson to kick out. They cut to a shot of Lynn just kind of looking around like he was lost in the mall. Taz quipped he's doing a great job having RVD's back.

Crimson came back with a spear for a two count. Crimson followed with a sky-high bomb and had the pin, but Lynn ran into the ring and broke up the pin. Ref Jackson James shouted at Lynn, then DQ'ed RVD, giving Crimson the win. Plus, RVD loses ten points for a DQ loss. Apparently Lynn didn't get the memo on how this works. The crowd was silent for this, as the finish didn't come off great and they didn't understand why Lynn was there. Post-match: Lynn, in his over-sized Impact Wrestling t-shirt, told RVD he was just trying to have his back. Crimson and RVD then knuckled up to say it's all good between them, then RVD cut a promo on Lynn, who pleaded with RVD that he messed up. RVD left, then Lynn tried to follow him to explain himself.

WINNER: Crimson via DQ at 8:40 to earn 3 BFG Series points. Crimson has upside, but TNA continues to expose his limitations and really hasn't captured why the audience should invest in him. Meanwhile, RVD returned to TNA form just having a basic RVD match. The finish falling completely flat didn't help matters. (*1/2)

6 -- FORTUNE (A.J. STYLES & DANIELS & KAZARIAN) vs. IMMORTAL (SCOTT STEINER & GUNNER & ABYSS) -- six-man tag match

The two sides spent a lot of time trash-talking before the match, then the bell sounded to begin the contest. Steiner informed Kazarian he has the largest arms in the world, then turned his back on Kaz to flex. Next in were Daniels and Abyss, who had an awkward exchange highlighted by Daniels slipping on the top rope attempting a springboard and kind of brushing Abyss with a spin kick that put Abyss on his back. Fortune then cleaned house to try to fire up the crowd to cover for the awkward spot. The referee lost control of the match moments later and Immortal took advantage by isolating Daniels on the floor before throwing him back into the ring. Taz said ref Brian Hebner needs eyes in the back of his head for this one. Lynn is probably still available.

The action eventually broke down on the floor with men pairing off against each other. Steiner easily whipped Daniels into the guardrail, then started walking up the ramp away from the ring. He returned to ringside to drop Kaz face-first across the Direct Auto ring apron. Meanwhile, Gunner pulled out a table and positioned it ringside. Hebner had completely lost control at this point. Some men eventually found their way back into the ring as the crowd engaged in a slow-clap. This was followed by a loud man doing a solo chant. Then, another slow-clap. Moments later, another slow-clap as Kaz teased a hot tag to Styles.

Styles entered, flew off Abyss's back, and forearm-smashed Immortal on the ring apron. Styles continued to blast the trio of heels with offense before executing a springboard cross-body on Abyss. The action broke down again, then Styles scored a close fall on Abyss. Styles followed with a Pele kick for a two count, but Gunner broke it up. And, the action broke down again. A parade of big moves ensued, then the action broke down again. Meanwhile, Gunner set up a table spot on Styles, but Daniels saved him. Daniels and Gunner then fell through the table off the apron, taking them out of the equation. Back in the ring, Styles executed an innovative springboard Pele kick on Abyss. It was good for the win as Kaz held off Steiner.

Post-match: Styles checked on Daniels, who the announcers said "took a bullet" for Styles. Kaz joined the victory celebration as Daniels sold the effects of the table spot. Back in the ring, Steiner and Gunner questioned Abyss, who took the loss. Abyss lightly pushed them away like a small child trying to wave off his parents yelling at him. Visible in the background, ref Hebner pounded the mat, which was a signal to get out of the ring. Steiner and Gunner then walked out of the ring, leaving Abyss to question himself alone.

WINNERS: Fortune at 14:42. The match felt like it would be the type of match that doesn't solve anything and they'll be back to feuding on TV like this match never happened, but the outcome and post-match gave the match a purpose with Abyss possibly being booted from Immortal and Styles owing Daniels a favor. The action was hit-or-miss with so many different types of wrestlers that it created an odd mixture. (**1/4)

7 -- MR. ANDERSON vs. BULLY RAY

Anderson eventually got Ray into the ring and the match officially started. Ray begged off in the corner, but Anderson continued the onslaught. Ray then avoided a corner attack and decked Anderson before doing the old Stan Hansen growl and hand signal. Ray started trash-talking Anderson, telling him to fight him. Anderson didn't respond, so Ray slapped him across the chest and delivered a sidewalk slam for a two count. Ray kept talking trash like Kevin Steen with a running commentary. Anderson finally fought back with multiple right hands before Ray decked him with an elbow smash. "You gonna fight me or what?" Ray shouted down at Anderson.

They started trading bombs from their knees and Ray walloped Anderson to knock him onto his back. Ray tried a Bubba Bomb, but Anderson dropped him mid-ring and both men sold on the mat. They returned to their knees and traded bombs again. Ray kept taunting Anderson, who couldn't do anything with Ray before finally landing a knock-down clothesline. Taz said this is just a physical brawl. Anderson then teased the Mic Check, but Ray blocked and Anderson suddenly executed an enziguiri for a two count. Ray then came back with a uranage for a two count. Cue up the slow clap.

Ray charged Anderson in the corner with a big splash, but then missed with a flying splash from the second rope. Anderson tried his own corner attack and scored with a flying splash. They traded close nearfalls, then Ray countered another top-rope attack with a mid-air cutter. Taz said it's over, but Anderson kicked out in time. Ray, desperate, grabbed his chain and wrapped it around his fist. Jackson pleaded with Ray, then Anderson suddenly scooped up Ray and they collapsed into the ropes with Ray's weight bringing them crashing down. Anderson then wanted another top-rope move, but Ray rolled out of the ring, said, "Screw you," and fell down on the entrance ramp. Anderson retrieved Ray and threw him back into the ring, though.

Back in the ring, Anderson picked up Ray's chain and twirled it around. Ray covered his head, then Jackson yanked the chain away from Anderson, which allowed Ray to low-blow Anderson from behind. Ray then rolled up Anderson from behind and scored a quick three count. Ray asked for his chain and left while Anderson sold in the ring. They quickly cut backstage.

WINNER: Ray at 10:04. Credit Ray. He knows his character, doesn't try to "get over as a cool heel," and tried to draw something out of Anderson to elevate Anderson's stale, undefined character. Well-done match until another screwy finish on this show. (**3/4)

8 -- TNA tag champions BEER MONEY (JAMES STORM & ROBERT ROODE) vs. MEXICAN AMERICA (HERNANDEZ & ANARQUIA w/Sarita and Rosita) -- TNA Tag Title match

The bell sounded and the crowd went silent, which caused some of the in-ring chatter to be audible on the PPV broadcast. Beer Money then involved the crowd with successive offense on Hernandez to get some early shine. The action moved to the floor and Beer Money blasted Anarquia before ramming him head-first into an American flag draped over the guardrail. Back in the ring, Beer Money went back to work on Anarquia, who then stumbled into Hebner, allowing Hernandez to deck Roode from the ring apron. The challengers worked over Roode for a few minutes before Storm hot-tagged and the action broke down.

The champs eventually took control, then decided to do their Beer...Money pose right in the middle of an opportunity to score a pinfall to win the match. Storm then scored a close fall on Anarquia with a top-rope splash. Anarquia was fresh moments later and climbed to the top turnbuckle to splash Storm, but Roode shoved Anarquia right into a superkick from Storm. This cover was good for the win to retain the Tag Titles. Afterward, Storm grabbed a U.S. flag to celebrate in the ring.

WINNERS: Beer Money at 10:41. Extended-length TV-quality match. They didn't try to "steal the show" and set the bar too high for Angle vs. Sting, not that this was the match-up to "steal the show." Just an efficient match for Beer Money, who seem to be stuck at the same level without quality opponents to work with and not directly involved in the Immortal vs. Fortune feud receiving the most TV time and attention. Roode and/or Storm should be headlining PPVs right now. (*3/4)

9 -- TNA World Hvt. champion STING vs. KURT ANGLE -- TNA World Title match

Early feeling-out process as the lightly-invested Impact Zone crowd attempted a dueling chant. This was followed by yet another slow-clap only 2:10 into the match. The match moved to the floor at 4:25 with Sting in control of the action. They did not brawl into the crowd, but returned to the ring. Meanwhile, the announcers continued to stress the idea of Sting needing the TNA Title to keep control of the company and return he company to Dixie, but TNA has never established the value of the title and why holding the title equals control of the company. There's a reason out there, but TNA has never taken that extra step explaining it. As a result, it comes across like an artificial reason to incorporate the ongoing "power struggle" storyline into the TNA Title picture.

In the ring, Sting continued to be in control to allow Angle to work from underneath to build toward his comeback. Angle missed with a top-rope moonsault, though, and Sting slapped on the Scorpion Deathlock. Angle sold he was in jeopardy, but it was too early in the drama to get the crowd to buy the false finish. Angle reached the bottom rope for a break, then Sting nailed a Scorpion Splash. Angle avoided the second one, though, and hit the Angle Slam for a two count. Angle missed with a corner attack, then Sting applied Angle's anklelock finisher. The crowd did a slow-clap, then Angle escaped and slapped on Sting's Scorpion Deathlock. Angle couldn't maintain the hold and Sting reached the bottom rope for a break.

At 12:30, Angle stalked Sting and went for multiple German Suplexes, but Sting elbowed out. Sting tried a powerslam, but Angle countered with an anklelock. The crowd bought this one a little more than the previous false finish, then Sting suddenly rolled up Angle for a two count. You could see the ref bump coming and it came moments later. Angle and Sting then had a double knockdown and everyone was KO'ed to the mat.

After a pause, Hulk Hogan gingerly made his way to the ring with chair in-hand. The crowd chanted Hogan's name, happy to see a brand-name star. Hogan approached Sting for a chair shot, but Angle snuck up behind Hogan and yanked the chair away. Angle then turned around and cracked the chair over Sting's back. Sting no-sold and stumbled across the ring as Angle revived the referee. Angle then dropped Sting with the Angle Slam. It was good for a Slow Hebner Three Count to give Angle the win and the TNA Title.

WINNER: Angle at 15:22 to capture the TNA World Title. Okay, not particularly memorable PPV main event. There was just something about brand-name stars like Sting, Angle, and Hogan involved in this angle in front of 900 people at a soundstage that made it all seem inconsequential. Hogan walking to the ring with a chair was supposed to be this big, dramatic moment, but the shot of the audience facing the hard camera pulling out their cameras to take a picture of a big star in their midst sent a message that this doesn't count. Angle's title victory was expected, but now they another "shades of gray" champion potentially being wooed by Immortal on the next set of TV episodes, which will only lead to more ambivalence. (**1/4)

Post-match: Hogan just glared into the ring as Angle stood tall with the TNA Title belt over his shoulder. Angle smacked the belt, suggesting Hogan come get it. After some back-and-forth camera shots between Angle and Hogan, the show ended without a clean sign-off.
