I was bored, so I pulled this topic from my old otaku-station forums (site will probably not return  )

Otaku Measurement Index (OMI - pronounced 'oh, my!').

This is how you calculate your offical nerdiness rating for our little community here:

You get one point for every legal Anime/anime-based movie DVD/VHS {Total as 'D'}.
You get 1 point per manga or anime magazine {Total as 'M'}.
Two points for every anime/manga t-shirt{Total as 'T'} you own.
Two points for every poster/Wallscroll {Total as 'W'} that is hanging on your bedroom wall.
One Point for every page of completed fanfic/doujin {Total as 'F'}.
Ten points for each anime convention {Total as 'C'} that you have attended.
Ten points for each set of cosplay {Total as 'P'} that you own.
One point for every legal anime/Seiyuu/anime-game CD {Total as 'S'}.
One additional point for each 'D'/'M'/'S' that is a Japanese Import {Total as 'I'}.

Adding this list of 'otaku traits' {D+M+T+W+F+C+P+S+I} together will give you your Basic Obsessiveness Value (BOV: thus BOV = D+M+T+W+F+C+P+S+I). Finally, divide your BOV by 100 to get your final OMI rating (OMI = BOV/100). Depending on if you are a 'closet otaku'(more single point traits = easy to hide from people) or 'public otaku' (more multiple point traits = outward expression of 'otaku-ness')will effect how you see your result as 'degrading' or something to be proud of.

Gerenal OMI progression chart:
Less than 0.25: you are still a nOOb, you are looked down on by other otaku.
Between 0.25 - 0.5: You are a true fan....beware the temptations to continue!
Between 0.5 - 0.75: Otaku-in-training! You are a hard-core fan with danger of overdose!
Between 0.75 - 1.0: Otaku!! All others shun you and avoid you at all cost, you are lost to the world of reality!
Between 1.0 - 1.5: Otaku Champion! Go forth and corrupt the 'innocent'!
Between 1.5 - 2.0: Otaku Lord! You are looked up to by all lesser Otaku!
Greater than 2.0: Primus Otaku: Maybe an Anime-God, maybe immortal, maybe just needs a new hobby...

Update: Don't feel like manually doing this, then cheat OMI Calculation Script, this little script will do the dirty work for you, just fill in the details and hit 'Calculate'

i took the test using the script and I get 0.5 but the rating it gives is:
Rating: you are still a nOOb, you are looked down on by other otaku.

why do I get the feeling I'm being cheated?

Wow, and just for writing too. ^_^ Of course, you can't really call me an otaku, as I am Japanese and doing so would be an offensive term, therefore resulting in your future torture and/or death.
