Poll

Believe in love at first sight?

You bet! I met this guy today  .. I'm already planning our wedding!
Sure. It could happen.
I'm not too sure. You never know, though.
Naaah. Sounds too much like a cruddy romance novel.
Pssh, you HAVE to know the person to be in love. That's just silly.
No comment. To each their own.

(comes out from a mirror, sits)

I'm raiding the Girl Thread for a while.

It's just that I realized how unexpressive or open guys are about things that affect them, unlike girls that have the time to talk about "girl stuff" and enjoy it.

I second an observation a colleague of mine made about men. She said that boys don't really talk about stuff around them, their favorites, what makes them tick off or what makes them cry (to which I retorted, "Boys don't cry; men do.") They don't also want to talk about stuff that may concern them, nor do they open up about what affects them deep down. I guess the Guy Thread (which was started by a girl) confirms so much.

It's no wonder men tend to commit suicide... They keep everything inside until they implode. You girls are lucky.

Is it really a male thing not to talk about themselves? What do you observe?

Sorry, I haven't slept since last night, and I worked overtime. I'm just saying my two cents' worth.

Welcome, Ten! I guess it's the whole thing about acting all 'macho.' Personally, I say this:

One thing that makes a man is if they're brave enough to cry.

And crying can make things better. We let out all our sadness out. It's just another way to tell how we feel...

On that note about crying...It's odd, because I've recently stopped crying as much and it makes me feel insensitive...

My dad cries...alot...more often than I remember when I was a kid...It kind of makes an akword moment when my dad is all teary and the rest of us are fine...but I think it's good for men to cry, because it reminds us that we're all human.

and on another guy note I was more macho than my ex-boyfriend XD
I love everyone!!!

I think it shows that men are not afraid to cry if they do...Better than committing suicide or drowning your sorrows in othe ways. Crying kinda makes all other kinds of feelings come out of a person. It's good to cry once in a while I think.

Not to ruin the party, but this IS the Girl Thread and talking about movies belongs in the General Media section :sweatdrop: Anybody up to changing the discussion before we get in trouble??

Just watched Pirates of the Carribean: Deadman's Chest today. It was great.

Anyway, on the topic about crying as a "manly" thing or whatever, I think crying is perfectly fine. Most of my guy friends don't cry (I know they want to :P), they just kinda say their emotions with words. If guys want to cry, they should. Everyone should cry. One of the side effects of bottling up your emotions is having a nervous breakdown. I know it from experience ^^;.Crying is better than nothing, ya know. Well, it's at least better than, as Fai said, committing suicide or doing outrageous actions. It's an emotion outlet.

In my case, it just so happens that most of my male friends or acquaintances find crying to make them less manly. They believe it makes them more real, though. There are some that I know, though, that think it's less macho to release their feelings, much more cry, and live up to the idea. Thye became really hard drinkers and acted more angsty.

I admit to passing through a point when I didn't want to cry whenever I feel something, so I channeled everything to work, writing, traveling, even drinking, but I still ended up crying anyway.

Heh.. Just my idea.. Don't sue me guys...

Crying does not symbolize being weak nor makes you less manly but yet it means  that you have to let your sadness out, even once in a while. 'Cause if you keep it hard to yourself, it might burst one day and the worst part: you may blunt it on someone else.

So this does not only apply to men but also to women too. Don't keep your emotions locked up in your chests. Open up and share them :)
