Poll

Believe in love at first sight?

You bet! I met this guy today  .. I'm already planning our wedding!
Sure. It could happen.
I'm not too sure. You never know, though.
Naaah. Sounds too much like a cruddy romance novel.
Pssh, you HAVE to know the person to be in love. That's just silly.
No comment. To each their own.

I have never been a cutter, and don't plan to start. My best friend and cousin was/is a cutter (I don't know anymore), and she started almost a year ago (after my grandpa died and she hated herself because the last words she said to him were, "I hate you!"). It(was/'s) very hard to watch her go through it and hide it from her family... but she's been happier lately. The only thing was that she developed scars from them, and there were A LOT (I never witnessed her cut herself). It was really, really hard for her at her birthday party, because all my relatives (aunts) started to ask questions when they saw her arms, and she nearly cried (she was about to blow out her birthday candles, too). She lied to my aunts and said that she played "Whips" (when you take a object and hit it against your arms ((never done it))). My aunts just shook their head in disappointment. After we had the cake and everything, she took her cake outside and cried on the driveway behind one of my aunt's van. It's really hard to watch someone you know well go through something so hard.

Aww...Poor Girl! I feel so sorry for her. :(

Urgh...*shudder* I was never a cutter and never will be. Even the thought scares me....

I always found it odd that I was able to cut myself, but I was deathly afraid of needles!
I don't understand myself sometimes.

I can't stand the sight of blood either... its a bit sickening... thats why I avoid those gore movies... although I make exceptions for those action type of shows like '24'. lol.

i agree.. but now what you can do is to give her as much help as possible.. if she rejects it.. just be by her side..

I agree. I know how it felt to not have anyone with me while I was going through that situation (and I guess I still am). It would have helped me considerably if someone was there for me.

if my friend is a cutter, i will be extremely worried as well. the worst part is that you cant help her a single bit.. but at least, let her know there is someone who always care for her..

I don't know anyone off the fourms who cuts, but I did have a friend (not a close one, but a friend still the same) go off on one of those suicide pacts in a chatroom.

Luckily they found her in time, and took her to hospital, and arranged counselling.......but it really scared me. That's one of the reasons why I hate chatrooms.

Oh my! o.O I'm glad she's alright! I'm supposed to right a suicide part for an upcoming fic. I actually googled it and there was a website that puts ways to commit suicide (don't any one of you go looking for it!)! I was pretty shocked and wondered why I was googling it. My mom actually found the website (our computer keeps all the websites and searches in its memory) and thought me or one of my sisters was suicidal (None of my sisters are and I sure as hell am not). Ohhh nooo... I just remembered I posted something about my cousin cutting herself... oh crap... I'm worried now... what if someone in my family sees it!? Uh oh!

yeah, i totally agree with you..

there was one time i was very very very angry with my parents over some stuffs.. its really 'hate them to the core' kind.. and over MSN, i spoke to one of my best friend.. i was surprised when she sent me an e-card:

"i dont know what i can do or say to make you feel better, but it hurts me to see you this way...... i'll always be there for you. you are not alone at all...."

from then on, i always consider what will my friends feelings will be and try to make them less worry about me..

I feel the same way...I really love all my friends! But the thing is, I can hold tears back really well until one of them asks what's wrong, and then I just end up crying, because of the concern in their voice. It just sets me off. I think it's because I know that they care about me, so I just feel like I'm able to tell them everything.....

i also love my friends.. but that's precisely the reason why i can't tell them my problems. I just think i'll cause them trouble.. so i try to avoid crying or even show i'm upset. Still, most of the times they figure out i'm having a rough time.. -- they don't ask me anything because they know i won't tell--but they stand by me and try to cheer me up (which they always do.. they are so funny *smiles*)
