It saddens me how no matter who I chat with online, my parents think it's some pervent trying to get some out of me.  Yes, I'm aware that it's a danger now-a-days. Does my mom think a forum is a chatroom? I suppose it is.. in a way. But the only places you really find "dangerous" people are at places like AOL and Yahoo. We don't have AOL anymore and even when we did.. I'd only use it to role play Pokemon. As for Yahoo.. nah. It's boring to me. They just don't trust me, I guess..they never will.

Edit: I mean, most the people I talk to on MSN I've either met on Gaia or I know irl. Or someone from here. Maybe I'm too trusting, but I pretty much trust those I chat with on MSN.

I think the underage here is under 19....not sure.
But yeah, my parents get weirded out by that too. That's why they don't want me chat rooms or stuff like that.

That explains why I never heard of it. We call it molestation over here. Also, the underage of an adult is 17. We become adults when we turn 18.

You pay adult prices and get to do a lot of things over here once you're 16....but also, a lot of things reuqire you to be 18....so I'm not actually sure what age we're considered 'adult' over here.

But all I can say is, if we're still not adults at 16, then why should we pay adult prices at cinemas and theme parks. etc?

The subject of adults are very iffy in America.

15 1/2 - Allowed to get your permit to drive
16 - Allowed to get your licence
18 - Allowed to vote, buy cigarettes, die for your country, and get married without your parents permission
21 - Allowed to drink alcohol, but are carded
25 - Allowed to sell alcoholic drinks, and buy them without being carded
34 - Allowed to run for president

I said I was just on a forum talking about anime, and he's like "Better not be with stalkers!" And when I protested, he saw the pics of everyone on the forum, and said, "you better not be posting your picture on the internet!"

On another occasion, my mom actually looked at the MSN convos I had opened, she said, "do you know those people? Who are you talking to?" I said, "people I know, mom. From school" (which wasn't all true, because I had some internet people on my list. And she just frowned at me and walked away. But I swear she kept trying to take a peek at the screen.

Bleh. My parents always think I'm chatting in a chat room or talking to a stalker.

My parents are same way, Cherry-chan. Well..not exactly, really, but I know they glance at what I'm doing from time to time. They don't really ask who I chat with on MSN.. but my mom does say " Be careful who your talking with.. " and blah blah blah.

Now that's bad. I understand that parents want us to be safe, but when will it end?! Where's the trust?! I just don't get it.  And then they ask why we won't talk to them! Arrrgggg!!!!!!

My mom is like that all the time.. And one time she really looked at my Friend list at a Swedish Manga site... She just "Who are these people, and she started to delete them [2-4 >_<] I just O_O.
