Post by: lika-chi on September 03 2005, 04:49 am: I was wondering why there was no thread about the xxxHolic movie when this part of the forum includes it. It might be somewhere else and I didn't see. Well if there is, you can lock this thread. ^__^

I was reading my Newtype and found a bunch of information to share. ^___^ Don't yell at me if you guys already know this.

Story - Kimihiro Watanuki has a special ability that annoys him to no end -- he can see spirits. He meets a women name Yuko Ichihara who offers to help him with his spirit problem if he will work at her shop. One day, a girl comes into the store and asks for help because she can't enter her house.

Characters

Maru - Although Maru looks like an ordinary human girl, she was actually created by Yuko. She can't leave Yuko's store, probably due to her lack of a soul. Her full name is a little too embarrassing to mention here, but you find it in the Del Rey manga release.

Moro - Just lik Maru, Moro was created by Yuko. Although Moro addresses Yuko as "mistress", she doesn't seem to have much respect for her bossy master.

Yuko - Yuko will grant your wishes -- for a price. But you should be extremely careful what you wish for because you never know what she'll demand in return.

Horror or Fantasy - xxxHOLiC is a CLAMP movie, so you know anything can happen. After receiving an invitation to an action, Yuko is visited by a mysterious girl who's having trouble getting into her own house. Yuko notices an odd emblem on the girl's key and speculates that there must be some kind of connection between the invitation and the house the girl's been locked out of. Yuko heads to the action site, where she finds seven other bidders. As they're waiting for the seller to arrive, the bidders begin to disappear one by one.
While Kimihiro can see ominous spirits, his classmate Shizuka Someki has the ability to get rid of them. The two aren't exactly close friends, but they are faithful partners who help each other solve spirit-related problems.

Sadness... But I'd much rather wait for a good raw than get a good dub with bad visual quality.

Too bad...

The torrent file has many trackers and most of them are chinese site such as bt greedland, dmhy ...etc.
If you have problem with seeder, you need to choose tracker from manga-ton1x. It has most numbers of seeders.

patience.... everyone in the torrent is experiencing the same. at this moment i only saw 2 seed vs 400+ leechers.Â My client only manage to connect to one seeder but its download rate is so slow.

edited:Â (march 2) finally i am done with the download.Â I think the speed won't be a problem now.

Post by: Emperor Shaoran on March 02 2006, 09:00 am: OMFG!!! I just got the Premium Edition of the DVD in the post this morning! It was so lovely with all the goodies! Watched it as well, though I didn't understand much. Amazing animation as well, CGI was used prefectly. Loved it!

Not everybody knows Japanese, so not everybody can understand the movie without English subtitles and not everyone has a DVD player that can play Japanese DVDs, and Japanese DVDs can be expensive. Anyway, Eask, just scroll back a few posts and you'll find a link to the torrent of the XXXholic movie. It shouldn't be hard to find. I just watched the XXXholic movie myself, but to be honest, I thought it was a bit disappointing. The animation and music were really good and it had some cute, funny moments, but the plot was too predictable and I thought the crossover bit with Tsubasa was too much of a rip off. I was hoping we would get to see how Shaoran met Yuuko for the first time but from the XXXholic point of view or for at least their crossover bit to have more relevance to the actual plot of the movie. The crossover bit with Tsubasa just feels too randomly placed and kind of cheap to me, but I still really want to see the Tsubasa movie. I'm more of a Tsubasa fan than a XXXholic fan, anyway.

Almost all of Japanese DVD's are region 2 so it won't work on some people's DVD players. I think I am kinda lucky... sorta... because all DVD players sold in my country are region 2 so I can get any DVD from Japan, but it's very pricey.

Anyway back to topic... I have seen the movie yesterday and I must say that I like it better then the Tsubasa movie as it can get rather confusing (how did Fay and Kurogane get caught? did Syaoran managed to get sakiura's feather back? etc...) also the Tsubasa movie was way too short for a movie.

The movie graphics and animation were great, and I especially love the backgrounds.

Post by: augustserenade on May 18 2006, 11:28 am: I really loved this movie. It had a real Sleepy Hollow/ Tim Burton-esque feel to it (especially Watanuki's dream sequence... it must've been the music that gave it that feel).

Watanuki, Doumeki, and Yuuko were as awesome as ever! (Kyaa, I just loved every scene with Watanuki and Doumeki. ^^)

Animation was good, voice actors were great, plot was a little trite but still worked, and the music and ending song were really good. I'd give it a 9 or better. X3

The ending broke my heart, and for once I didn't think Watanuki was pussyfooting the whole reaction, because I screamed just as hard as he did XD

The only thing I can complain about regarding the animation ( especcially in the anime) is that the characters are too tall sometimes and one thing regarding the story that I thought was a little strange was that Yuuko got captured by the spirit, I think Yuuko should be more powerful than him.
