My biggest gripe about the anime was that they removed one of the most important plot pieces ::

of Fujitaka being the other half of Clow's reincarnation, and since he fell asleep under Eriol's spell they removed any possibility of it being real in the animeverse
:: That killed the end of the anime for me. But I did like the second movie, too. The manga was beautiful, and I loved the ending so I suppose that wins.
I think that the anime ended well for the anime and the manga ended well for the manga. The manga ending may have seemed less climatic, but the anime had more action in it anyway (52 cards compared to 19). The manga had less action anyway, so the ending was more suitable.
I suppose my ultimate ending would be an addition to the second movie! Sakura should realise that Syaoran's visit in Japan is near it's end, rush to make him a teddy bear and run to the bus stop to give it to him (whilst Meilin and Tomoyo fawn in the bus and bushes respectively!). Then they can have the reunion as teenagers! (Of course, that doesn't change that they removed the spoiler aboveÂ
).
