6 -- TEAM NEXUS (Wade Barrett & Husky Harris & Michael McGillicutty (Joe Hennig) & WWE tag champions Heath Slater & Justin Gabriel) vs. TEAM ORTON (WWE champion Randy Orton & U.S. champion Daniel Bryan & Mark Henry & R-Truth & The Miz w/Alex Riley)

Immediately back from break, Cena called for the bell to start things off. Miz actually helped Bryan out with a clothesline from behind on Hennig to begin working over Perfect's son. The crowd began chanting as Miz measured Hennig for a charging corner clothesline. Hennig eventually dragged himself to Nexus's corner and tagged out to Slater, who ran into a clothesline from Orton. Enter Truth. Suddenly, the action broke down and all ten men brawled while Cena leaned back in the corner selling frustration. Team Orton eventually cleared Nexus from the ring and David Otunga picked this as a good time to slowly walk down to the ring. Otunga stared toward the ringside area as they cut to break.

Back from break, Otunga was ringside watching things intently as Gabriel and Truth exchanged offense in the ring. Cole used a slow point in the match to talk up Cena and said he "entertains" for the acceptance of the WWE audience. Mark Henry then tagged in to go opposite big Husky Harris. Henry landed a big press slam and Mathews dropped "cruiserweight" into the broadcast saying Henry lifted up Husky as if he were a cruiserweight. Harris came back with a corner football tackle, then tagged in Hennig, who lost control.

Bryan then entered the ring and landed rapid-fire kicks. Bryan showed off his athleticism before landing a release German Suplex followed by a corner kick attack for a close two count. Bryan landed another kick, then slapped on the LeBell Lock, but Harris blind-tagged into the match to break it up and land a big inside-out clothesline. Cole said Mean Gene Okerlund will be on Raw next week handling interviews. Mathews excitedly said he gets vacation. In WWE world, Mathews would actually have a full weekend of publicity duties, perhaps even in another country.

The match continued with Nexus working over Bryan as the babyface in peril. Bryan teased a comeback, but Barrett cut him off. Barrett then tagged in Slater, who lost control of the match. Bryan crawled across the desert and hot-tagged Orton, who came in hot on Barrett, who also tagged in. Orton with a powerslam, then he wanted the spike DDT and waited for Cena to count to four on the five count before dropping Orton. Orton then wanted the RKO, but Barrett came back with a Wasteland tease. Crowd was heated for this exchange that led to Orton hitting a fallaway backbreaker for a two count.

The action broke down again and Henry called out everyone to come get some. Bryan suddenly came off the top with a double missile dropkick that sent bodies flying. Orton and Barrett were left in the ring. Orton hit another backbreaker, then went into RKO mode. Otunga tried to get involved again, but Cena held him off. Miz then suddenly turned on Orton and hit the Skullcrushing Finale with Riley's help behind Cena's back. Cena hollered at Miz and Riley, but had to make a three count for Barrett on Orton for the pin. Cena then chased Miz and Riley to the back while Nexus gloated on the way out of the ring. Orton recovered in the ring while Nexus hoisted Barrett on their shoulders. Cole recapped the questions going into Survivor Series on whether Cena would make the same count for Barrett at the PPV.

WINNERS: Team Nexus at 15:25. Better main event situation than last week trying to escalate the hype for Orton vs. Barrett. There was a really key segment during the match where Orton and Barrett were in the ring together and there was a noticeable "anticipatory" crowd response with the audience buying into the exchange. It seemed to indicate a higher level of interest in the PPV title match than going into this show. Overall, the Survivor Series title match hype came off better than last week's show. The PPV hype is still handicapped by not having that authoritative voice on commentary to sell the story, the match, and the PPV. Miz turning on Orton was a bit lost in the shuffle, though, when it could have been made out to be a bigger deal. That's a potential money match down the road that needs to be protected. (**1/4)

WWE NXT Results: 11-9-10

1 -- NIKKI BELLA (w/Brie Bella) vs. A.J. (w/Primo)

Before the match, they recapped Nikki's aggressive side recently coming out. The announcers recapped the switcheroo gimmick coming out on Raw last night, but without the recent animosity seen on NXT. Cole continued to talk and there was an awkward pause as Cole waited for Mathews to say something. Cole surmised Mathews was "being produced" with lines being fed to him. Mathews laughed and said he received a text. They brought up the Old-School Raw on Monday and Cole said he hopes "Vince" returns to commentary on Monday.

In the ring, Nikki dominated the proceedings before dropping A.J. on her head. "You okay, Rookie?!" Nikki barked at A.J. Suddenly, a message came over the PA system that a virus has been updated on the system. Cole said even the PA announcer is bored. Mathews said maybe the Raw GM is trying to tell Cole to go home. Not the match, but actually leaving. On the outside, the Bellas teased the Switcheroo (and possibly executed it), but Primo acted like he caught onto their game. "Why do you need to get involved, you freakin' idiot?" Nikki (or Brie acting like Nikki) shouted at Primo. A.J. then rolled up Bella and scored a three count for the win.

WINNER: A.J. in 6:00. WWE needs to pus Nikki to the moon. She was awesome getting over her personality...when she wasn't trying to wrestle.

2 -- NAOMI (w/Kelly Kelly) vs. AKSANA

Aksana came out alone without her Pro husband, Goldust. Before the opening bell, Goldust's music hit to bring out Goldust with his chest puffed out and a crazed look in his eyes toward Aksana. The match started and Aksana bailed out of the ring. Cole brought up the dancing contest "like 12 weeks ago" and said he's like one of the Pros on "Dancing With The Stars." Cole used a pronoun, which drew a comment from Mathews under his breath. Mathews then spoke as if he's Cole that he goes into the locker room and backs off his negative comments during the show because he's "a character now and he's told what to say." Cole said he's saying what's on his mind before telling Mathews he must think he's the second coming of J.R. after broadcasting one episode of Raw. Mathews and Cole continued to debate who's produced more as Aksana took control of the action.

Naomi made a comeback at 5:00 and landed rolling elbow strikes to the chin for a two count. Aksana came back with a "vintage Goldust" drop-down slap below the chin. Mathews took a dig at Ross, saying Survivor Series can't get here soon enough because they need another announcer seminar. Naomi then scored the pin on Aksana for the win. Cole screamed at Goldust to do his husbandly duty and help Aksana.

WINNER: Naomi in 6:00. A match happened, the announcers ignored it, the announcers amused themselves, and it was over. Week 1, the goal of NXT seemed to be getting over Naomi. By Week 10, the goal of the show is to get no one over and simply write the show for the entertainment of the people writing, producing, and calling the show. Alas, it is officially a parody of TNA Impact.

WWE Superstars Results: 11-11-10

1 -- ZACK RYDER vs. YOSHI TATSU

Mathews decided to give Yoshi the advantage because Japan is closer to the U.K. than Long Island is, according to his Google search. Upon further review, Tokyo is about 6,000 miles away from the U.K. and New York is about 3,300 miles away. Ryder dominated early on as the announcers suggested both Ryder and Yoshi will be big-time players on the Raw brand in the near future. The announcers began arguing with each other over their broadcasting history as Ryder nailed a superplex and floated over into a pin attempt for a nearfall. Ryder in control going to break.

Back from break, Yoshi was still on the defensive as Ryder cut off Yoshi's comebacks. Ryder then went for a move from the second rope, but Yoshi blocked with a sit-out powerbomb. Mathews plugged the Old School Raw and Cole wanted to know if Vince (McMahon) would be doing commentary. Mathews said he's still in a coma. Well, actually...nevermind. Cole said he doesn't want to wear the powder blue or yellow announcer jackets. Meanwhile, Yoshi kind of botched a back elbow smash on Ryder for a two count. Mathews kind of started to feed to a commercial, but they stayed with the action as Ryder missed with the Rough Ryder. Yoshi then hit the Shining Wizard for the pin and the win. Cole woke himself up to try to sound excited for Yoshi's win.

WINNER: Yoshi in 13:00. The announcers sound so disingenuous, even on Superstars. Yoshi looked a bit rusty at times, but it was overall a decent match. (*1/2)

2 -- EZEKIEL JACKSON vs. PRIMO (w/A.J.)

The bell sounded and Primo started flexing. Jackson shoved him down, then posed for Primo, who sold concern over this situation. Cole said he likes Zeke because he's "always having fun in the ring." Zeke proceeded to toss Primo across the ring, which drew some serious concern from A.J. Cole noted Jackson was the final ECW champion "before that brand went defunct." Primo went the traditional route of going after Jackson's knee to try to cut him down to size. Jackson eventually made it back to his feet, then growled and ran over Primo. He smiled. Then, a dominator. Three count and it's over as Jackson marches through the Raw roster.

WINNER: Jackson in 4:00. A bit long for a squash match, but Primo was entertaining as a lower-card heel with no chance of advancing up the ladder anytime soon. (*)

3 -- DREW MCINTYRE vs. KAVAL

Grisham noted Kaval has yet to win a match since becoming a full-time WWE wrestler post-NXT. He also noted it's a re-match from Kaval's first Smackdown match, which gave McIntyre a 1-0 lead in the series. Solid commentary from Grisham and Striker early on talking about wins and losses being what matters in WWE. Kaval and McIntyre went through an early feeling out process before Kaval landed a kick strike to the gut. McIntyre came back with a round of flying fists in the corner before drawing a reprimand from the ref. The ref-Mac exchange gave Kaval an opening to land a high-flying move followed by a leaping splash on the outside that floored McIntyre. Back in the ring, Kaval scored a one count. McIntyre and Kaval then bumped mid-sections mid-ring and sold on the mat as they cut to break.

Kaval and McIntyre went back and forth coming back from break. McIntyre then dropped to the outside and got that crazy look in his eyes before wrapping Kaval's left shoulder around the ringpost. Back in the ring, McIntyre continued to work over Kaval with power offense before landing a short-arm clothesline. McIntyre, in control of the action, slowly raised his arm in the air before delivering a knee drop. Mac missed with a corner attack, which gave Kaval an opening to begin landing signature kick strikes.

Kaval called for his full comeback and landed a leaping enziguiri in the corner for a two count. McIntyre cut him off again, though, and dropped Kaval with a rib-breaker, as Grisham called it, for a two count. Kaval blocked another corner attack before nailing a handspring kick strike to the head for a nearfall. Kaval then went up top, but Mac rolled to the apron. Mac then caught Kaval on the apron and teased the Future Shock DDT onto the ring steps, but Kaval escaped and smashed Mac with a rolling kick to the head using the ring steps. Nice sequence.

Back in the ring, Kaval wanted the Warrior's Way double foot stomp, but McIntyre missed. McIntyre then followed right up with the Future Shock DDT. Mac was slow to make a cover, but he eventually made a cover for the three count and the win.

WINNER: McIntyre in 15:00. Good match. It didn't quite reach that third gear with rapid-fire counters, nearfalls, and exchanges, but McIntyre presented his character very well and Kaval was able to get in some quality offense that showed off his unique moveset. McIntyre has improved dramatically with his character presentation in the ring and setting a good pace calling the match as the heel. (**3/4)

1 -- JAY LETHAL & TAYLOR WILD vs. ROBBIE E. & COOKIE

Cookie and Robbie got into some sort of argument that led to Cookie refusing to enter the ring. They cut to a break after ring intros. [c] Back from the break they were arguing at ringside. Lethal took control of Robbie in the ring. At 2:00 Robbie tagged in a reluctant Cookie. Cookie tagged right back out to Robbie, forcing Wilde to tag Lethal back in. Lethal surprised Robbie with a flying crossbody block. Cookie broke up Lethal's pin attempt on Robbie. When Lethal turned toward her, Robbie jumped him from behind. Cookie held Lethal by his arms as Robbie charged. Lethal moved and Robbie stopped short. Lethal then surprised Robbie with a Lethal Combination. Cookie interfered again, but Lethal caught her kick attempt. He held her and called in Taylor. Cookie yanked her foot out of her boot so she could slide out of the ring. Robbie then used the boot to KO Lethal for the win.

WINNERS: Robbie & Cookie in 7:00.

STAR RATING: 3/4* -- Lots of shenanigans, not a lot of wrestling. It told the story it wanted to tell just fine, though.

2 -- SAMOA JOE vs. GUNNER & MURPHY

Joe won quickly and decisively with a Muscle Buster on Murphy.

WINNER: Joe in 1:00.

KELLER'S REAX: Four minutes into the second hour this second match began, meaning through 64 minutes, there was only seven minutes of wrestling. The last time TNA weighed a show so heavily toward talk, it backfired (right after Bound for Glory). Will history again repeat itself.

3 -- ROB VAN DAM vs. KAZ

Tenay said Rhino's TNA contract expired at midnight on Sunday and the new regime of Bischoff & Hogan did not renew his deal. They also acknowledged Sabu lost and has to leave TNA. Taz said EV2 is rapidly crumbling. Tenay said a win by Kaz over RVD could be a career-changer. Tenay said RVD finally realizes his true enemy is Jeff Hardy, so now he can focus on getting the belt he never lost in the first place back around his waist. As RVD rallied against Kaz, the ref got knocked down. Flair walked out with a chair. Rhino charged to the ring and knocked the chair out of Flair's hands. He entered the ring, turned toward Kaz, but then hit RVD with a Gore. The groggy ref made a three count.

WINNER: Kaz in 3:00.

-Rhino picked up the chair and stood behind RVD. Tommy Dreamer came out and got in Rhino's face, demanding an explanation for his actions. Rhino turned and began to leave the ring. Dreamer bent over to check on RVD. Rhino grabbed the chair and hit Dreamer across the back. Tenay wondered what is behind his actions.

4 -- A.J. STYLES vs. STEVIE RICHARDS -- TV Title Match

Tenay talked about the rich history of the World TV Title. He said the "masses" can associate with it because they can see it defended on TV. Taz said it has been prestigious title over the years. Stevie kept pace with Styles. Taz said he might be the only wrestler in TNA who can keep pace with him cardio-wise. At 4:00 Stevie caught Styles with a Steviekick as Styles spring-boarded toward him. Styles avoided a powerbomb and then slammed Stevie to the mat and gave him a modified or botched-looking Styles Clash. Richards landed powerbomb style on the back of his head and neck rather than face-down, and Taz and Tenay gasped like they had just seen Stevie's neck snap in half. Taz noted he has a surgically repaired neck.

WINNER: Styles in 5:00.

STAR RATING: *1/2 -- Good action packed into five minutes.

5 -- BEER MONEY & DOUGLAS WILLIAMS vs. MATT MORGAN

Morgan put up a good fight early, but the numbers overwhelmed him. It settled into Douglas concentrating on Morgan's left knee and leg. Storm applied a figure-four at 4:00. Tenay announced that Bischoff is "pissed about something" and headed to the broadcast table. Bischoff showed up and said given the lack of respect he was shown has him running out of patience. Bischoff said Morgan better win tonight or he'll never get another shot at Hardy. Taz sided with Bischoff and wondered what is going on. Bischoff threw a fit and pounded the desk and insisted that he's a pro... "a professional pro," in fact. Bischoff told Tenay he didn't want to hear a word from him. Bischoff said he never thought Morgan had any talent. Morgan came back with a clothesline. Bischoff said Roode craps more talent in any given day than Morgan will have in his entire career. Morgan caught a charging Roode with a Carbon Footprint, then splashed Douglas in the corner. Tenay asked if Morgan wins will he really get a title shot. Bischoff insisted he's a fair man and he will get that title shot. Taz gave Tenay a hard time for assuming the worst about Bischoff and not treating him decently. Beer Money tried to suplex Morgan, but Morgan countered and suplexed both of Beer Money. As Flair jumped onto the ring apron, they arbitrarily signed off Impact, gave a brief closing credit, and then began Reaction.

Morgan knocked Flair off the ring apron, then took on Douglas one-on-one since Beer Money retreated up to the stage. Morgan finished Douglas with a Carbon Footprint for the win. Bischoff said, "Son of a *****! Fire that referee"

WINNER: Morgan in 10:00.

WWE Smackdown Results: 11-12-10

1 – ALBERTO DEL RIO vs. KOFI KINGSTON

Striker plugged Wrestlemania’s on-sale date tomorrow, and told Grisham that at the rate he’s going, he’ll have to buy a ticket. Kingston nailed Del Rio with a few uppercuts, then hit a dropkick and went for a pin. Grisham again talked about soccer (he has announced soccer of Fox Sports Net in the past) and Cole slammed him again for it. Del Rio turned the tide and slammed Kingston. Inside cradle for two. Irish whip into the corner, followed by a shoulder knock-down. Kingston used his athletic ability to dodge Del Rio and land a flying back elbow. Del Rio went outside the ring and Kingston landed a suicide dive onto his opponent. Back in the ring, a cover got two. Kingston went to the apron, where Del Rio gave him an enziguiri. Kingston collapsed to the floor on the outside, at which point, the show went to break.

Del Rio was in control out of break, and he pulled Kofi’s hair to aid him in landing a few right hands. Del Rio pulled Kingston out of the corner by his boots as Kofi was on his back and held onto the bottom rope. Got a lot of air on it, too. Dueling chants for Kingston and Del Rio, which the announcers did not acknowledge. Kofi blocked a few punches and fired back. Another standing dropkick found the mark. He missed a splash in the corner by got his feet up as Del Rio charged in. High cross-body for a two-count by Kofi. Jumping clothesline (or Superman punch), followed by the Boom Drop. He lined Del Rio up for the Trouble in Paradise. Del Rio got out of the way, however, and the two fought on the apron. Del Rio pulled Kofi’s arm against the ring post, then kicked it. Back in, Del Rio locked in the Cross Arm-Breaker for the win.

WINNER: Del Rio, at 11:29. Okay match, but nothing spectacular.

After the match, Rey Mysterio came out to his music. He ran to the ring and slid under Del Rio’s legs. He kicked Del Rio in the head and landed the 619. That sent Del Rio reeling.

2 – NATALYA vs. LAYLA

Big standing suplex from Natalya for a near-fall. Layla came back and dropkicked Natalya in the stomach, leaving her on the apron. No Michelle McCool, by the way. Kick to the head by Layla while Natalya was on the apron. Back in the ring, she got a two-count. Layla applied a head-scissors, but Natalya got to her feet while still in it. She tried to back Layla into the corner, but kinda missed. Then she tried a back-breaker and only barely hit that. Striker dropped the name of Robbie Brookside, who has done jobs on WWE TV in the past. Natalya used her power to keep Layla at bay, then applied the Sharpshooter for the win.

WINNER: Natalya, at 3:28. Ugly in spots, but at least we see some unique moves from Natalya thanks to her power.

3 – EDGE vs. DAVID OTUNGA – LUMBERJACK MATCH

Lumberjacks included Nexus, Rey Mysterio, Kofi Kingston, Dolph Ziggler, Chavo Guerrero, Jack Swagger, Drew McIntyre, Fit Finlay(!), Goldust, Tyler Reks, Primo, Alberto Del Rio, Chris Masters, Cody Rhodes, MVP, Kaval. Otunga was the first to be sent to ringside, but nothing physical happened. Nexus was backed into the aisle by the rest of the Smackdown locker room when they came out. They went to break about a minute in, without much action.

Edge thre Otunga to the outside right after break, where Otunga was stomped by the likes of Reks, Finlay and Goldust. He was shoved back in, but Edge only got two. Edge was propelled to the outside, but landed on his feet. The lumberjacks showed respect at first, but Del Rio pulled him off the apron. MVP got in Del Rio’s face about it. Otunga put Edge down with an elbow after the Canadian tried to bounce off the ropes. Kick to the ribs by Otunga. Suplex by Otunga for another two-count. They’re keeping things simple with him, and with good reason. Edge suplexed out of a rest-hold, but the crowd wasn’t really getting behind Edge as much as one would expect. Del Rio and MVP were still hashing things out at ringside. Edge-O-Matic for two. Corner charge missed by Otunga, and he was rolled up for two. He walked into a flapjack, but Edge dropkicked Del Rio through the ropes instead of capitalizing. The entire Smackdown roster then began to brawl outside the ring and Edge gave Otunga a DDT. Edge set up for a spear, but Michael McGillicutty ran in and was speared. Kane then came in out of nowhere and gave Edge a chokeslam. The official was distracted by the brawl and missed it, so Otunga recovered and got the pinfall victory. Grisham hearkened back to Nexus helping Kane beat Taker in the Buried Alive match.

WINNER: Otunga, at 9:50. Pretty basic, with enough bells and whistles on the outside to make it interesting. Kane helping Nexus adds another layer to things, too.

4 – DOLPH ZIGGLER vs. MVP – INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH

No Vickie or Kaitlyn with Ziggler. Couple of quick covers by MVP, including a series of roll-ups, for two-counts. MVP got Ziggler on his shoulders, then just dropped him. Running boot by MVP and Ziggler was reeling as they went to break over a minute in.

Big elbowdrop for a two-count from Ziggler, who had regained control during the break. Ziggler went for a few quick covers himself, but couldn’t get it done. He went to undo the turnbuckle pad, but the ref saw it and put it back. As he was doing that, MVP rolled Ziggler up and got more than a three count, but the ref was still distracted reapplying the turnbuckle pad. Arm-bar by Ziggler, but MVP got out. Ziggler missed a splash and MVP fired back with clotheslines. Thrust to the throat, then a face-buster for two. He lined up for the Ballin’ elbowdrop and connected. Ziggler got his foot on the rope to break up the pin. Dueling “Let’s go Ziggler/MVP” chants. MVP got another near-fall countering Ziggler’s move off the top rope. MVP had to be restrained, as his frustration was mounting. Ziggler responded with a Zig Zag and got the pin, despite MVP getting his foot on the rope.

WINNER: Ziggler, at 8:36. They kept MVP strong, giving him a visual pin and having him lose by questionable means.

5 – KANE vs. THE BIG SHOW

No Bearer with Kane. The two traded body shots, and Show even got off his feet on a shoulder tackle to take Kane down. Headbutt put him down again, and another shot to the stomach. More shots to the ribs by Show in the corner. Kane went low for a dropkick to the knee that hobbled Show. Show tried to keep some separation, but struggled to do so. Kane went to the second rope to hammer Show, and did so twice. Show elbowed Kane down then hit the Vader Bomb for a two-count. Kane foolishly tried to chokeslam Show, but Show came back with a choke of his own. Both men fought out and Kane went to the knee again. Kane clothesline Show over the top, and both men spilled to the floor. Bearer was shown tied up backstage, watching on a monitor.

Show worked the left arm of Kane to block his offense. Big slap to the chest in the corner, as the crowd implored him do it one more time. He perhaps should have listened, as Kane landed a DDT for two. Kane stomped Show and kicked him in the head for two. Show worked out of a resthold and collided with Kane. Show got the better of that exchange, as Kane went through the middle rope and to the arena floor. He grabbed Show’s arm and pulled it over the top rope. Kane perched himself on the top rope, but Show met him up there. Kane pushed Show off the second rope and came off the top with a clothesline for a two-count. Another rear chin-lock by Kane. Show suplexed out and struggled to regain his bearings. Both got to their feet at about the same time and splashed Kane in the corner. He missed a second one, as Kane got his foot up. Second-rope clothesline by Kane and he again signaled for a chokeslam. Edge came over the PA and had Bearer tied up on the stage. Kane began to freak out as Edge continued to taunt Kane. He asked Kane if he wanted him to take care of his daddy issues. Edge said if Kane takes another step, he’ll push Bearer in the wheelchair off the stage. He faked doing it, which the crowd bought. As Kane pleaded with Edge from the ring, Show chokeslammed him and picked up the non-title win.

WINNER: Show, at 14:28. For someone who doesn’t care much for either guy’s in-ring work, I thought this match was pretty good.

WWE RAW Results: 11-15-10

1 -- IC champion DOLPH ZIGGLER (w/Vickie Guerrero) vs. MARK HENRY -- non-title match

Cole said Ziggler reminds him of "Ravishing" Rick Rude from the past. Henry dominated early on, then Ziggler rolled to the outside. Henry made advances toward Guerrero, prompting a Mae Young reference from the announcers. Back in the ring, Ziggler cut off Henry at the knees and went to work on him. Henry made a comeback and landed a powerslam, but Ziggler put his foot on the bottom rope to break a three count.

Henry measured Ziggler for a big splash, but Ziggler rolled out of the way in time. Ziggler then followed with a finisher attempt, but Henry kicked out in time. Ziggler followed with the Zig-Zag, but Henry kicked out again. Ziggler, frustrated, slapped on a sleeper hold. Is this where Roddy Piper shows up? Henry faded out in Ziggler's grasp and the referee called for the bell to give Ziggler the win.

WINNER: Ziggler at 4:27. Nice showcase for Ziggler, although they're really watering down the brand split with an unadvertised appearance by a second tier champion on Raw. As if the watering-down of the brand split is news. (*1/4)

2 -- WWE tag champions NEXUS (HEATH SLATER & JUSTIN GABRIEL) vs. HART DYNASTY (TYSON KIDD & D.H. SMITH) -- non-title match

Smith worked on Gabriel early on, then Slater broke up a pin attempt. Slater tagged in, so Smith dropped him with a powerslam for a two count. Smith followed with a big clothesline in the corner, but Gabriel provided a distraction to give Slater an opening to take control. The crowd picked up a brief "Nexus sucks" chant as Cole noted Kidd has yet to enter the match. Smith eventually walked over to the corner for a tag, but Kidd moved his hand and popped Smith with an enziguri kick. Kidd then smiled and hopped off the ring apron as Gabriel went up top. Gabriel hit the 450 Splash on Smith for the pin and the win. After a replay of Kidd turning on Smith, they went to back and forth shots of Kidd smirking and Smith selling disgust in the ring to close the segment.

WINNERS: Nexus at 3:07. This is where not having a straight-forward announcer really, really hurt. Kidd turning on Smith should have been treated like a big deal, but the announcers completely undersold it in that make-or-break moment. Another example of Cole's delusional character on Raw being a mistake. (*)

3 -- BROOKYLN BRAWLER (w/Harvey Whippleman) vs. EZEKIEL JACKSON

Cole said he never thought he would see Brawler in a match again in 2011. It's not next year yet. Jackson dominated, then hit the Pearl River Plunging dominator for the pin and the win. Cole with another inside reference that Brooklyn Brawler has struck out. Cole got serious and said Jackson has been on a tear since returning to Raw.

WINNER: Jackson at 0:50. Effective squash continuing to build up Jackson. It's best to "limit his touches" in the ring until they're ready to push him in a more important program. (n/a)

4 -- JOHN CENA vs. ALEX RILEY (w/The Miz)

Cole corrected himself from the Jackson match that he misspoke about the current year they're in, noting it's 2010, not 2011. Cole said he wants to be like Vin Scully calling this show by himself in the future. Miz distracted the referee early on, giving Riley an opening to tackle and attack Cena. Cena made a comeback at 3:00 while Lawler noted Cena's jovial mode despite being in a position to be fired at Survivor Series. Cena dropped the Shuffle on Riley, who rolled to his feet and walked into the Attitude Adjustment. Cena dropped Riley, then slapped on the STF and stared right in Miz's face with the hold locked in. Riley tapped and Cena smiled while Cole said Cena was able to "be himself" for perhaps the final time on Raw.

WINNER: Cena via submission at 3:44. Another "feel good" match for WWE's PG audience. The post-match took precedent over the in-ring here...

Post-match: Orton stormed the ring and cleared Miz, then Husky and Hennig stormed the ring and tried to attack Orton, who fought them off. Orton then stared down Cena before ripping off his t-shirt. Orton and Cena came face-to-face as the crowd roared in anticipation of something going down. Cena then shrugged and landed a right hand blow. Orton came back with rights before referees stormed the ring and tried to separate the two men. Agents even spilled into the ring for an old-school pullapart brawl. The crowd chanted, "Let them fight."

5 -- USOS (JIMMY & JEY w/Tamina and Snuka) vs. SANTINO & KOZLOV (w/Sheik and Volkoff) -- #1 contender match to WWE Tag Titles

The match was joined in progress as Cole referenced the Usos being the sons of Rikishi. Kozlov manhandled one of the Usos as Snuka and Tamina tried to shout encouragement. Kozlov then tagged in Santino, whose head was used a battering ram. Cole noted Jake Roberts had his snake and Santino has his cobra. Cole talked about Snuka being one of the "original high-flyers" as the only sound heard in the arena was Santino screaming at Kozlov for a tag. The Usos then bumped Santino off the ring apron, allowing the Usos to continue working on Kozlov. Kozlov eventually broke free and tagged in Santino, who landed left hand jabs. He then went until Ultimate Warrior mode raising the roof and landing a big splash for a two count. Santino then called for the Cobra and delivered the strike on Jey for the pin and the win.

WINNERS: Santino & Kozlov at 5:31. And now Nexus will be opposed by...Santino and Kozlov. They're trying to legitimize Santino as more than just a comedy act, but that would require undoing three years worth of Raw Comedy. (*)

6 -- KOFI KINGSTON vs. DAVID OTUNGA

Otunga dominated things early on as the crowd chanted for Kofi. Otunga landed an emphatic elbow smash for a two count before applying a submission hold driving Kofi into the mat. Kofi made a comeback and landed successive corner strikes before landing a big flying dropkick. This was followed by a double knock down as they collided mid-ring. Suddenly, George "The Animal" Steele showed up ringside with his green tongue on display. Ol' George just walked right into the ring and approached the turnbuckle pad. The ref reprimanded him from attempting to eat the turnbuckle. So, he walked to the other turnbuckle and ripped it apart. Steele chucked the turnbuckle stuffing at the ref while Otunga wondered what was going on. Kingston was still KO'ed, but then woke up and rammed Otunga head-first into the exposed steel. Kingston followed with the Trouble in Paradise for the pin and the win. They replayed Steele's involvement and Cole said he feels like he's back at MSG.

WINNER: Kingston at 4:50. Fine match as Otunga continues to progress from Level 1. The Steele run-in was a bit random and a distraction, but what you would expect to give Otunga more to complain about to Barrett. (*1/4)

7 -- R-TRUTH (w/Eve) vs. WADE BARRETT

Truth took control early on and clotheslined Barrett over the top rope to the floor. Truth then nailed a flip dive onto Barrett, sending Barrett crashing to the floor beyond the bright blue ringside padding. Back in the ring, Barrett caught Truth off the ropes with a modified Black Hole Slam for a two count. Cole said he's uncomfortable in his bright jacket like the one Vince McMahon used to wear. He wondered aloud if Lawler has been visiting McMahon in the hospital. He said he couldn't even imagine working with McMahon on the air.

Meanwhile, Barrett landed a big elbow drop from the second rope followed by a sidewalk slam. Cole noted no presence of Nexus ringside, like at Survivor Series where Nexus is banned from ringside. They cut to a split screen of Cena and Orton watching the match from separate locations on monitors backstage. Truth teased a comeback on Barrett, then made a full comeback with rapid-fire clotheslines. He tried a victory roll, but Barrett kicked out in time. Truth then landed a facebuster suplex for another nearfall. Truth to follow with the Lie Detector, but Barrett ducked and smashed Truth with a boot to the face.

At the top of the hour, Barrett scooped up Truth and dropped him with the Wasteland slam. The announcers noted it appeared Barrett's nose was injured. Barrett made the pin for the win as the camera zoomed in on Barrett's face, where his nose looked quite damaged. After a replay of the match highlights, Barrett managed a smile as the announcers noted his quest for the WWE Title at Survivor Series.

WINNER: Barrett at 5:20. Good, tough win for Barrett ahead of Survivor Series. WWE still has to overcome the dilemma that the issue between Barrett and Orton for Survivor Series is #3 in importance behind Cena-Barrett and Cena-Orton. They have an hour to focus on Cena's issues being most important to see how they're resolved at the PPV. (*1/2)

8 -- ALBERTO DEL RIO vs. SGT. SLAUGHTER

Del Rio kicked Sarge in the gut before landing a knee to the gut. Sarge then teased the Cobra Clutch, but Del Rio reached the ropes for a break. Del Rio got that look in his eyes and landed a big clothesline for a two count. Del Rio then slapped on a snug reverse chinlock as the crowd rallied behind Slaughter. Del Rio smashed Sarge with a kick to the knee, but Sarge ducked a right and slapped on the Cobra Clutch again. Del Rio broke free, though, and landed a big step-up enziguiri kick in the corner for the three count.

Post-match: Del Rio slapped on the cross armbreaker as Cole noted he's injured Christian and Rey Mysterio with the hold. MVP suddenly stormed the ring and Del Rio bailed out of the ring. MVP told Del Rio to get back in the ring and fight him. Del Rio just laughed at this request before winking at him. The crowd was hot with an "MVP" chant.

WINNER: Del Rio at 1:52. Del Rio's greatness cannot be over-stated. It was good to see Sarge work a competitive match after his health problems earlier this year. A nice feud is brewing between Del Rio and MVP. (*)

9 -- U.S. champion DANIEL BRYAN vs. JACK SWAGGER -- non-title match

Cole continued to roll his eyes as Lawler and Ross had their own conversation. Ross said Bryan was "trying to negotiate" the arm of Jack Swagger with submissions. They cut back to Cole trying to get in Ross's face to tell him he's now the voice of WWE. Ross called Swagger scoring a nearfall before listing Swagger's accolades. Cole then did his anti-Bryan spiel as Ross no-sold and called Bryan landing a big dropkick for a two count. Bryan scored with successive kick strikes as they showed Cole continuing to roll his eyes. Swagger landed a boot to the head clearing Bryan to the head as Cole thanked his lucky stars they were going to commercial. He said hopefully the match will be over and Ross will be on his way back to Oklahoma when they're back.

Back from break, Ross reintroduced the show while Cole had his head down on his desk selling a slumber. Swagger scored a nearfall in the ring as Ross had a conversation with Lawler talking up Bryan. Swagger then rolled Bryan to the outside in front of the announce table. Swagger posed in front of the table while Cole sold boredom. Cole also noted his voice is in the WWE open now. Back in the ring, Bryan landed a boot to the jaw while Cole mocked Ross's catchphrases. Bryan then smashed Swagger with a baseball slide kick through the ropes followed by a running knee smash off the ring apron. Cole said they're only missing The Genius tonight.

Back in the ring, Bryan went up top and landed a big missile dropkick for a two count. Cole wanted the match ended and cursed his bad luck when Swagger kicked out. Bryan then landed kick strikes to the chest, but Swagger came back with an Anklelock attempt, only to have Bryan escape and airballed a big flying kick in the corner. Swagger followed with a running Vader Bomb, but Bryan kicked out. Cole begged for the match to end before asking Ross if he has an OU game to be at. Ross plugged jrsbarbq.com while Swagger landed another running Vader Bomb. Swagger wanted the gut wrench powerbomb, but Bryan blocked. He tried the LeBell Lock, but Swagger escaped and landed a backbreaker. He wanted the gutwrench again, but Bryan slipped out and nailed a big enziguiri kick. Bryan scored a pinfall for the win.

WINNER: Bryan at 10:45. What's that Hulk Hogan line about breathing fresh air again? It was great to hear Ross back on the air trying to sell the product with a straight face vs. Cole's delusional heelish presentation. Bryan vs. Swagger was good, but it was difficult to invest in the match as a viewer trying to ignore the ringside banter from Cole. Apparently WWE's only money match right now is Ross vs. Cole. (**1/2)

1 -- NAOMI (w/Kelly Kelly) vs. KAITLYN (w/Vickie Guerrero)

Mathews took some time to question Cole on why he intentionally tries to buck the trend by endorsing what heels like Lay-Cool do. Cole no-sold before angrily asking Mathews if he's going to be the "typical babyface announcer" and start telling him how to call the show. Mathews said Cole should have listened to Jim Ross on Raw. Kaitlyn worked over Naomi early on while Vickie uttered, "Do something." Cole said he wants to see Naomi go home. Kaitlyn made a cover for a two count as the crowd rallied behind Naomi. Kaitlyn then knocked Naomi to the floor, but Naomi re-entered and scored with a cross body block for a two count.

Vickie nearly blew a gasket screaming at Kaitlyn to impress her. "This is ridiculous!" Vickie shouted. Naomi then hit a big kick to the face and scored a pinfall on Kaitlyn. Cole said she scored a "big, big, big, big, big, big" win. Vickie blew another gasket and screamed at Kaitlyn that she's a disgrace and a waste of her time. Kaitlyn stomped off trying to get away from Vickie, who followed her up the ramp to the back.

WINNER: Naomi in 3:00. To use a Coleism, Vickie Guerrero is the Frank Martin of NXT. Decent action to advance the Vickie-Kaitlyn feud for Smackdown.

2 -- A.J. (w/Primo) vs. AKSANA

Cole said he wants to get to the bottom of A.J. and Primo's relationship since they seem to know each other so well. A.J. dominated this from the start as Cole surmised A.J. is "weird." Aksana then slipped A.J. to the outside and sat down on the bottom rope to welcome A.J. back into the ring. A.J. took the bait and Aksana dropped her on the ring apron. Cole suddenly got a phone call. Mathews noted he did this bit a few weeks ago. The crowd was hot with an "A.J." line as Cole said he received a phone call from Joey Styles. Cole tried to play the conversation over the air as Mathews tried to call the action in the ring. Cole said he would call Mr. McMahon if he weren't in a coma right now. A.J. suddenly slapped on a tarantula-like submission mid-ring and Aksana was forced to tap out, giving A.J. the win.

WINNER: A.J. via submission in 4:00. Fine match-up for its allotted time. A.J. got over her offense and showed a bit of a future in the ring boosting the women's division while Aksana got over her innocently heelish personality.

Ringside: Striker was with the four remaining Rookies and noted A.J. can breathe easy right now. Cue up the drumroll. And the eliminated Rookie is...Aksana. Aksana pretended to faint as Goldust just stared straight ahead. Aksana grabbed the mic from the floor and said it's a mistake. "Somebody make mistake," she said. Aksana said she will come back. Right now, she will go to Vince McMahon's office and write a letter. And something about emo?

She blew kisses to the crowd and walked up the ramp where Goldust met her. Goldust has one more thing to say to her. Goldust pulled out a piece of paper and said he wants a divorce. She screamed and stormed off while Cole sarcastically said he didn't see that coming. So, it's Naomi, A.J., and Kaitlyn remaining for next week's elimination. Mathews plugged the voting on WWE's website tomorrow before Cole said he's still going to vote for Aksana. Mercifully, fade to black.

WWE Superstars Results: 11-18-10

1 -- JTG vs. CHAVO GUERERO

JTG refused to remove his sunglasses per Chavo's request, so JTG put the shades on Charles Robinson. Off they went with JTG working up the crowd before they locked up and JTG landed a knockdown clothesline. JTG cockily knocked Chavo to the outside, then took a dropkick to the knees from Chavo back in the ring. Striker said the "cutesy stuff" from JTG went out the window. JTG then came back with left hand jabs as Grisham continued to make up stuff to say. JTG with a back drop, insert Striker cliche, then JTG with the Mug Shot for a two count. Chavo came back with a rolling kick strike to the top of the head before doing the Eddie Shuffle. Chavo wanted Tres Amigos, but JTG blocked numero dos. Chavo shooed him away, then went up top and pointed to the ceiling, but JTG cut him off. Chavo responded by dropping JTG throat-first across the top rope. Chavo went back up top for the Frog Splash and connected. Chavo with the pin and the win.

WINNER: Chavo in 5:00. Fine showcase match for Chavo. JTG's character is so undefined at this point that the audience just doesn't have a reason to care. (*1/4)

2 -- CURT HAWKINS vs. TRENT BARRETA

The announcers picked up a conversation on Kane vs. Edge as Grisham suggested Hawkins was trained by Shawn Michaels. Prof. Striker cut him off and said that's not true. The action briefly moved to the outside before Hawkins took out Barreta with a leg sweep and went to work on him. Barreta made a comeback and hit a springboard dropkick to the back of the head for a nearfall. Grisham noted Barreta's lack of singles opportunities, but he's done well in "doubles." Grisham laughed at himself and said it's not tennis. Barrett snapped off a huracanrana, then followed with a running DDT for the pin and the win.

WINNER: Barreta in 5:00. Fine singles match focusing on Barreta trying to give him an individual personality. Perhaps Hawkins needs to try a fifth look. (*1/4)

In-ring: C.M. Punk came out for commentary on the Raw portion of the show with his own ring entrance. They had the old Superstars black backdrop on the ring entrance and the old WWF logo from the Old School Raw set from Monday's TV taping. Scott Stanford was already ringside and welcomed Punk to the show. Punk asked "Steve" how he's doing. Primo then walked out with A.J. for an Old School match against Yoshi.

3 -- YOSHI TATSU vs. PRIMO (w/A.J.)

Punk comically made three segues in three straight sentences while asking "Jeff" what his qualifications are to be a commentator. Punk then complained about the guardrails and being at the Spanish announce table. In the ring, Yoshi smashed Primo with a leg whip and Punk sold excitement over the move. "That was Old School. Speaking of Old School..." Yoshi with a roundhouse kick for a two count. The action moved to the floor where Punk stood up to warn Primo that it's an Old School table. A.J. encouraged Primo to get up while Punk sent it to commercial.

Back from break, Punk recapped a "stiff lariat" from Yoshi on Primo during the break. Yoshi fired off a round of chops to the chest, but Primo cut him off and landed a flying splash across the back of the neck. Primo slid out of the ring and high-fived Punk, then re-entered the ring and attempted a superplex, but Yoshi headbutted Primo down to the mat. Yoshi climbed up top looking for a roundhouse kick and Primo moved his hand in the way to absorb the blow. Punk called the three count, immediately switching allegiance to Yoshi, who scored the three count for the win.

WINNER: Primo in 9:00. Punk's heel color commentary was a breath of fresh air acting like a traditional heel commentator by comically switching allegiance throughout the match. In the ring, Yoshi was solid continuing to get his "touches" on Superstars. If Punk were to have a consistent role as color commentator, his heel persona would actually be productive since he wouldn't be the lead play-by-play announcer. (*1/2)

4 -- MELINA & GAIL KIM vs. ALICIA FOX & MARYSE

Punk and Stanford remained on commentary for the main event as the remaining Divas completed their ring entrances in front of the Old School Superstars set. There's a permanent change that could be made. It's just a classic look that never really goes out of style. The heels isolated Gail Kim early on, which meant Gail actually received some in-ring time in this tag match. Punk sold mock concern before Gail eventually tagged out to Melina, who cleaned house. Maryse thought she outsmarted Melina with a numbers game, but Melina avoided a boot to the head and small packaged Maryse for the pin and the win. Cue up the babyface Divas celebrating the match victory to conclude the show.

WINNERS: Gail & Melina in 5:00. Fine, basic formula tag match. Punk was again strong on commentary in an audition type setting. Again, the classic Superstars backdrop and ring entrance look could be retained permanently to actually enhance the show and allow Superstars to stand out from WWE's other weekly TV shows. (*)

(1) JAY LETHAL, THE MOTOR CITY MACHINE GUNS, & VELVET SKY vs. GENERATION ME, ROBBIE E., & COOKIE

I totally want to watch three quarters of this match. Taz and Tenay mention that Sky and Sabin have been dating for a few months, which has been hinted at a few times. Lethal calls for Robbie E., but gets Max Buck instead. He hits a couple quick Arm Drags, then tags in Shelley. Shelley connects with a double-sledge off the top. Max Buck puts on the breaks after a whip, but does so in the wrong corner; the faces tee off for a few seconds. Shelley sets him up in a Tree of Woe, then tags in Sabin, who hits a Hesitation Dropkick as Sky stands on Buck's crotch. A cover is broken up at two. Shelley tags back in. He sets up for a Superkick, but Jeremy Buck yanks him out of the ring. Robbie E grabs onto him as Max connects with a dropkick through the ropes. Robbie rolls Lethal back to Max for a cover, but it only gets one. Cookie tags in and stomps on Shelley's back, but Shelley sits up. Robbie E quickly tags in, but just does a short Front Chancery before tagging in Jeremy. Jeremy just does a choke and makes the tag right back out. Shelley tries to fight out, but Jeremy nails a Gut Buster and Max hits a Swinging Neck Breaker as he (Shelley) is held prone. Sabin breaks up the cover at two. Jeremy whips Max into Shelley, but Shelley Back Body Drops him over the top rope. Shelley floors Jeremy with a Jaw Breaker, and Robbie tags in. Robbie grabs Shelley's leg and starts to taunt him, till Shelley connects with the Ensuguri. Jeremy tags in and tries to hold Shelley, but Lethal gets the hot tag. He hits clotheslines to everyone, then a Handspring Elbow to both members of Generation Me. Cookie attacks from behind, but before he can retaliate Lethal gets distracted by Jeremy Buck and hits the Lethal Combo. He tags in Sabin, who comes in with a Springboard Flying Forearm. Robbie breaks up the cover at two, and everything breaks down. Sabin hits an Inverted Atomic Drop, then invites Sky to hit a multi-rotation Twisting Head Scissors. Generation Me are stacked up in the corner, so the Guns take turns hitting running clotheslines, then their version of Poetry in Motion. They get Jeremy Buck with Skull & Bones, but the ref's busy getting Shelley out of the ring (I don't know why he cares now). Max Buck grabs Cookie's hairspray and sprays Sabin in the eye, and Jeremy rolls into a cover with the tights for 3.

WINNERS: Generation Me, Robbie E, & Cookie in six minutes. This was good TNA-style action, but the careful reader might have taken note of the different number of moves Robbie E hit this match. Listen—you have the worst gimmick in years—this is not the time to hold back on your move-set.

(2) JEFF JARRETT vs. SAMOA JOE
Submission Match

Jarrett shoves a student at Joe to start, who Joe just kicks down. He clotheslines the next and T Bones a third. Jarrett runs away. The student Joe squished second pops him from behind, so Joe Muscle Busts him.

WINNER: No Contest in zero seconds?

(3) RAVEN vs. JEFF HARDY
Win-or-be-Fired Match

JB announces this as the featured match of the evening. First, from Cameron North Carolina, he's the Charismatic Enigma, the self-declared anti-Christ, and, since 10-10-10, the undefeated, undisputed, heavyweight champion of the world—Jeff Hardy. And in the opposite corner we have Raven. Taz talks about Raven storming into Immortal's office—I just rewound through the whole show and still can't find that scene, sorry. Hardy shoots Raven off, but Raven comes back with a shoulder block. A cover gets one. Hardy hits a Jaw Breaker as he gets up, but Raven Drop Toe Holds him right out of the ring. He follows Hardy out and Russian Leg Sweeps him into the guard rail. He rolls Hardy in, goes to the top rope, and rides Hardy down with a knee to the back for two. Raven gets a chair and sets it up in the corner. He tries to whip Hardy into it, but it's reversed. He rolls to the outside. Hardy follows him out and clubs his back, then drives his back into the apron. He rolls back into the ring, but whiffs on a Whisper in the Wind. Raven unloads with jabs and a discus clothesline. He whips him into the corner and comes out with a Running Bulldog for a respectable two count. He looks for the Raven Effect, but it's reversed into a Twist of Hate and a Swanton for the win.

WINNER: Jeff Hardy in 3 minutes.

Dreamer, Kendrick and Stevie come out to say goodbye to Raven. Hogan's music hits, and he comes out. Hogan says that this is quite appropriate. Dixie Carter had the gall to say that this worthless bunch in EV 2.0 had the same importance to wrestling as Hogan. Well this is quite appropriate. With all Raven's whining "what about me?", now he's fired. Quote the Hulkster, nevermore. Raven goes out to confront Hogan, but for some reason Stevie stops him. Hogan says that Hardy now is wrestling.

(4) SHANNON MOORE vs. ABYSS
Casket Match

Moore dodges around the ring to start, then tries for some quick strikes. Abyss no-sells them and hoists Moore up for a battering ram to the corner. Moore slips out and shoves Abyss into the turnbuckle, then hits a series of haymakers and kicks. He attempts a sort of sideways Cross Body Block in the corner, but Abyss catches him and tosses him to the mat. He tosses Moore from the ring and follows him out. He tries to shove him into the casket, but Moore stops himself and comes back with right hands. Abyss stops him with a knee lift. Moore rolls into the ring, and Abyss follows him. The Monster charges in the corner, but Moore dodges to the outside. He hits a couple more punches, then nails a Guillotine Leg Drop when Abyss doubles over. He tries to roll Abyss into the casket, but Abyss stops himself on the apron. Moore goes back to the rights, then hits a running clothesline. Abyss stays on the apron. Moore goes for another, but Abyss palms his head and tosses him out of the ring and into the barricade. Moore still has some fight though, and slams the lid of the casket down onto Abyss's arm. As Abyss flinches back Moore hits an Asai Moonsault over the casket onto Abyss. Wow. He tries to shove Abyss into the casket, and manages to get the torso in before Abyss kicks him off. Abyss gets out and just shoves Moore into the guard rail. Both roll into the ring. Abyss goozles Moore. Moore fights out with elbows to the face, but then runs right into a Black Hole Slam. He drags Moore over to the casket, but when he opens it back up The Pope is there. Pope hits a series of rights, and for some reason the ref calls for the bell. Pope keeps up the beat down, and Moore helps out with a kick off the top rope.

Winner: Abyss by DQ (in a casket match?) in six minutes. Oh wait—Tenay says that the ref just through the match out, which I assume means that it's a no contest—that makes somewhat more sense.

(5) MICKIE JAMES vs. ANGELINA LOVE
#1 Contender's Match

Love goes for a quick gut wrench and a pin. She picks a leg and goes for another, but Mickie bridges out from under her and rolls through for two. She gets another roll-up for two. They share a hand shake of mutual respect. Love gets a side headlock. Mickie tries to shoot her off, but Love hangs on and drives her to the mat. Mickie briefly powers out, but Love just puts it back in. She finally shoves Love off, but then eats a shoulder block. They jockey to try to hit an Arm Drag, but Mickie ends with with a Monkey Flip and a dropkick for two. Love backs Mickie into the corner for a quick forearm. Mickie responds with a knee to the gut, but then eats a jumping clothesline for two. Love hits a Front Power Slam for two again, then goes to the chin lock. Mickie powers out. She goes for a Back Drop, but Love lands on her feet. Love looks for the Botox Injection, but Mickie ducks. Mickie looks for another handshake, but Love shoves her down to the mat for two. Mickie charges Love into the corner, but Love gets her legs up and starts choking her, then whacking her upside the head with her leg. She kicks Mickie back, then floats over into a School Girl for two. She whips Mickie into the corner, but this time Mickie gets her legs around Love's head and comes down with a Twisting Head Scissors. She hits a nice Reverse Neck Breaker for two. She goes to the top rope, but Love ducks beneath her and nails the Botox Injection. It takes her a second to make the cover though, and James kicks out. Angelina lifts Mickie up for the Lights Out, but Mickie elbows out and hits the Impaler DDT. She hooks both legs for the pin.

WINNER: Mickie James in six really great minutes. That was probably the best Love has looked since Awesome Kong left the company.

(6) RIC FLAIR vs. MATT MORGAN

The crowd's behind Morgan, who shoves Flair down and halfway across the ring to start. Flair kicks out Morgan's thigh, then chops him to the corner. Morgan switches spots and slaps Flair a couple times, Back Body Drops him, and Batista/Ultimate Warrior Ups a bit. He charges Flair in the corner and hits his series of back elbows. Flair flops. Morgan looks to do it again, but Flair shoves him out of the corner and into the referee. Flair nails a low blow, then lays in with some stomps. Morgan gets to his knees, where Flair chops and punches the hell out of him. Flair tries to come off the ropes, but Morgan goozles him. Flair pokes the eyes to get out, then flings Morgan from the ring. He follows him out and chops him against the barricade. He hits a punch to the kidneys and some more chops. He tries to drive Morgan into the barricade, but Morgan reverses Flair into the metal. Morgan hits some headlock punches, and Flair is busted open. Morgan bites the wound, then slugs it. He hits a headbutt as Flair rolls into the ring and begs off. Morgan knocks Flair down to start Reaction. Flair stands up in the corner, where Morgan punches his bloody face. Flair flops out again. Morgan hits a Side Slam, but there's still no referee. Morgan signals for a Choke Slam, which he nails. Fortune run down to the ring. AJ, Kaz and Beer Money swamp Morgan as Williams just sort of stands by. AJ gets annoyed at Williams. He tries to drag Williams, but Williams loses it and slugs him. He tosses Kaz and Storm from the ring. Roode grabs him, but by now Morgan's up. Morgan clotheslines everyone right out of the ring. Flair tries to attack, but Morgan no-sells the punches. Morgan sort of hits a Carbon Footprint (it was off by a good six inches, but that might just mean Flair was bleeding more than expected). The ref rolls back in to make the count. Williams nods happily at the top of the ramp.

WINNER: Matt Morgan in eight minutes. It's good to see Flair get in some non-jokey offense, but still to put Morgan over. If you're going to use Flair on free-TV, this was as good a way as any.

WWE Smackdown Results: 11-19-10

1 – MVP vs. DREW MCINTYRE

Overhead throw by MVP sent McIntyre to the outside. MVP went out to take the fight to him, but Mac threw MVP into the barricade. MVP recovered and dropped McIntyre abdominal-first over said barricade. Both men were headed back in the ring as they took the first break of the show.

MVP suplexed McIntyre down, but went outside, then under the ring. MVP went after him, but McIntyre pulled MVP’s arm toward him and into the ring apron. I think he’s done that once before. He continued to go to work on the arm of MVP. MVP kicked McIntyre in the back to break a hold, but McIntyre mowed him down with a shoulderblock. MVP caught McIntyre with a boot when Drew was running in. He eventually caught him with another and went for a cover, only to get two. Whip into the buckle by MVP, and he suplexed McIntyre down. Ballin’ elbowdrop landed as Striker name-dropped Charles Oakley. The referee had to restrain McIntyre from MVP in the corner. That allowed MVP to nail McIntyre with a running kick to the head, and that surprisingly finished things.

WINNER: MVP, at 7:29. Well, MVP is out of the doghouse it would seem. Match was a decent enough opener.

2 – CHRIS MASTERS vs. JACK SWAGGER

Swagger shoved Masters around the ring, but Masters punched him in the head in response. He got Swagger up for a powerslam, to no avail. Vader bomb by Swagger for two. Abdominal stretch by Swagger. Masters worked out of it and gave Swagger a Samoan drop. The announcers were really trying to get over Masters’ credibility, because to the fans, he really has none. Shoulderblock off the middle rope for two. Swagger missed a punch and landed in the Masterlock. Swagger dragged Masters across the ring, then kicked himself up over the top rope and to the apron to break it. That was impressive. Swagger went after the knee with a front chop block, then applied the ankle-lock for the victory.

WINNER: Swagger, at 2:58. Fundamentally sound. I still think Masters being in this PPV match speaks poorly of Smackdown’s depth on the babyface side.

3 – KAVAL vs. DOLPH ZIGGLER

Ziggler got the mic and said he was undefeated as I.C. Champion and he has the hottest girlfriend in the world. He said he is on a roll and that Kaval will be no match for him. He said all the Internet fanboys probably think Kaval is special, but he’s not Ziggler. Ziggler should’ve introduced himself to Kaval. Kaval sent Ziggler shoulder-first into the ring post. Handspring cross-body for two. Zig Zag blocked by Kaval. Couple of reversals of roll-ups got a number of two-counts. Ziggler tried another roll-up, but Kaval grabbed Ziggler’s arms as he was going for the tights, flipped him over, bridged, and got the win.

WINNER: Kaval, at 2:01. Much shorter than I’d like, but hopefully I’ll get my longer match at the PPV. Whoops, jumped the gun there….

Kaval got the mic and said that, since he won NXT and still has a PPV title shot, he’s going to use it to face Ziggler at the Survivor Series for the I.C. Title.

4 – KOFI KINGSTON vs. “DASHING” CODY RHODES

Kingston’s first high-impact move was a hard slap to Cody’s face. Rhodes ran to ringside and kicked the steps a few times in anger that Kingston would dare hit him in the face! He checked the mirror on his jacket to see if he was still OK. Then they went to break.

Rhodes was pounding on Kingston out of break, but Kingston came back with a flying elbow. He kept Rhodes down with a side headlock. Monkey flip by Kingston and Rhodes went back to ringside. Baseball slide on Rhodes as he tried to get back in. Hard uppercut to the chest, but after dodging a clothesline and back elbow, he fell victim to a knee-lift. Striker again plugged Arn Anderson for the Hall-of-Fame after comparing Rhodes to Anderson following a few gourdbusters. Rhodes hooked Kofi’s arms behind his head, but Kofi made it to his feet and flipped Cody over his back. Kofi nailed Cody with a few dropkicks, then hit his flip kick. Cross-body by Kingston for two. Trouble in Paradise missed, as did Beautiful Disaster. Roll-up by Kingston for two. Cross-Rhodes by Rhodes (with the hair AND the tights) ended up getting him the win.

WINNER: Rhodes, at 10:00. Solid match here, given just enough time.

5 – LAYCOOL vs. NATALYA & KELLY KELLY

Natalya and Kelly traded off against Layla, until she made it to McCool. Wheelbarrow throw by Nattie on McCool. Tag made, but Nattie didn’t see it. Double boot by LayCool put Natalya down, and the heel divas got the win.

WINNERS: LayCool, at 1:12. Just a way to put Nattie in a hole heading to the PPV.

6 – THE BIG SHOW vs. TYLER REKS

Show got his hand around Reks’ throat early on, but couldn’t finish things. Huge clothesline that knocked Show off his feet. Show got serious and ran over Reks, though for some reason, it looked like he slowed down before he hit him. Chokeslam followed that for the win.

WINNER: Show, at 1:18. Don’t know if they were running long or what, given the last two match times.

7 – ALBERTO DEL RIO vs. REY MYSTERIO

Del Rio kicked away at Mysterio in the corner and reigned blows down upon him as well. Mysterio dodged another corner attack and slid under Del Rio, only to get kicked in the gut. Sunset flip failed by Del Rio and Mysterio set him up for the 619. Then, the entire heel team captained by Del Rio ran down and interfered, drawing the DQ.

WINNER: Mysterio, via DQ, at 1:53. I did not expect that so soon.

Mysterio’s team ran down to even the odds, and a brouhaha ensued. Teddy Long came out and must’ve seen that there were nine minutes left, so he turned things into a ten-man battle royal. That’s next.

8 – 10-MAN SURVIVOR SERIES SHOWDOWN BATTLE ROYAL

The bell rang upon return from break. Rhodes got chopped hard in the chest, then no-sold it seconds later to run across the ring at someone else. MVP and Show double-teamed Reks. Mysterio attempted to eliminate Dle Rio. Masters eliminated Rhodes from the apron at 1:23. Reks barely held on to stave off elimination. Masters was thrown over by Reks at 2:06. Del Rio and McIntyre double-teamed Show. Swagger battled MVP in the corner. Kofi took Reks out at 2:50. Headbutt to the heel team captain. Kofi went to the apron and Mac took him out at 3:45. MVP and McIntyre went out in short order, MVP at about 4:00. Del Rio out via Rey at 4:35. Down to Mysterio, Show and Swagger. Swagger locked in the ankle-lock on Rey. With the help of Show, Swagger got set up for the 619. After that connected, Show took Swagger by the throat and pushed him over the top. Del Rio looked on from the ramp, unhappy.

WINNERS: Show and Rey, at 5:10.

WWE Survivor Series PPV Results: 11-21-10

1 -- U.S. champion DANIEL BRYAN vs. TED DIBIASE (w/Maryse) -- U.S. Title match

DiBiase and Bryan started trading holds, then the lights suddenly turned out. Bryan and DiBiase kept wrestling, then the lights came back on a few seconds later. Bryan landed a kick strike to the gut that cleared DiBiase to the apron, but DiBiase came back with a suplex clear over the top rope dropping Bryan to the floor. Back in the ring, DiBiase landed an elbow smash while Bryan was draped across the ring apron and the announcers noted DiBiase's new aggression post-Goldust situation.

DiBiase settled into a side headlock as the crowd chanted for Bryan. Cole and Striker bickered some more regarding Bryan before Bryan landed a double foot kick to the chest that decked DiBiase. Bryan then landed trademark kick strikes and backflipped over DiBiase to land another blow. Bryan proceeded to smash DiBiase to the outside and immediately followed with a suicide dive onto DiBiase. Bryan immediately began selling a right shoulder injury before rolling DiBiase back in the ring. Bryan went up top and landed a signature double foot thrust kick to the chest that resulted in a two count. Bryan continued to sell the right shoulder before landing multiple kick strikes to the chest. And some more. DiBiase grabbed Bryan's leg, but Bryan countered into a small package for a two count. Bryan teased the LeBell Lock, but DiBiase blocked and smashed Bryan with a clothesline for a two count. Pause for everyone to catch their breath.

DiBiase fired himself up and kind of started doing a Randy Orton IED pump-up before attempting Dream Street. Bryan rolled out, though, and scored a nearfall while maintaining contact. DiBiase followed with a spinebuster once they broke contact and scored another nearfall. DiBiase then pounded on Bryan with right hands, but Bryan countered a top turnbuckle offensive attempt into a super back drop as they seemed to float in the air for several moments. Bryan scored a nearfall, then tried the LeBell Lock, but DiBiase countered into a corner catapult for a nearfall. Bryan then immediately transitioned into the LeBell Lock out of nowhere and DiBiase was forced to tap out, giving Bryan the win. Cole said he doesn't get it.

WINNER: Bryan at 9:58 to retain the U.S. Title. Excellent opening match. Bryan showed those marketable gritty babyface characteristics while DiBiase showed a more aggressive in-ring side that's been missing form his singles run. (***)
 
2 -- SHEAMUS vs. JOHN MORRISON

Sheamus opened with a slap to the face that fired up Morrison, who landed a head scissors and dropkcik sending Sheamus to the outside. Morrison then nailed a corkscrew plancha on the floor and landed right hand strikes to the jaw. Sheamus shoved Morrison into the barricade, though, followed by a Polish Hammer to the face. Back in the ring, Sheamus resumed control of the action and cut off Morrison's comeback attempts. Sheamus deliberately slowed down the pace and did his Ronald McDonald smile to the crowd, which drew boos. Sheamus became upset moments later and showed a change of emotion pounding on Morrison with clubbing forearms to the back. Morrison fired back with big right hand strikes before hitting a cross-body block from the top rope. Sheamus rolled through, though, and landed a front slam for a two count.

At 6:00, Sheamus turned evil and measured Morrison for the Brogue Kick, but Morrison ducked and hit an enziguiri. Both men fell to the mat, then came to their feet trading bombs. Morrison then nailed successive clotheslines followed by a leg whip for a two count. Moments later, Morrison ran into Sheamus, who dropped him with the Irish Curse backbreaker for a nearfall. Morrison and Sheamus traded control a bit before Sheamus began focusing on Morrison's left knee to cut off his aerial attack.

Morrison suddenly decked Sheamus in the corner and wanted Starship Pain, but Sheamus grabbed Morrison and teased the Irish Curse. Morrison escaped, though, then avoided the Brogue Kick for a second time. Morrison nailed the flash kick before hitting a flying knee strike to the chin for the pin and the win. Striker sent a message to the kids at home to fight back against bullies, like Morrison did against Sheamus.

WINNER: Morrison at 11:11. Good singles match at times. It's not clear if this is a sign of Morrison in line for a stronger babyface push on Raw or just receiving a victory as part of bullying being a hot topic and Sheamus getting his comeuppance. (**)
 
3 -- IC champion DOLPH ZIGGLER (w/Vickie Guerrero) vs. KAVAL -- Intercontinental Title match

Cole did his NXT Season 2 anti-Internet spiel to begin the match as Kaval quickly scored a one count on Ziggler. Ziggler then scored a one count and they began exchanging control of the match. Ziggler settled into control of the match as the announcers filled air time with worthless banter. Kaval then popped Ziggler with a kick strike before coming off the top rope with a springboard moonsault for a two count. Someone was bleeding, as Kaval had a touch of blood on his upper chest. Kaval then absolutely blasted Ziggler in the corner with a springboard kick strike as Ziggler seemed to be looking to counter the move. Kaval communicated with Ziggler, rolled him over, and scored a nearfall.

Kaval wanted a top rope attack, flung Ziggler to the mat, and measured Ziggler for twisting corkscrew plancha, but Ziggler moved. Kaval landed on his feet anyways and scored a nearfall on a small package. Ziggler then came back with the Fameasser for a two count. They reset as Vickie screamed at Ziggler to finish him. Ziggler tried the sleeperhold, but Kaval escaped, then ran off the top turnbuckle and hit a turnaround flying kick for a two count. Nice sequence.

Both men came to their feet at 8:30 and Kaval landed a strike to the mid-section before Ziggler came back with headbutts. They seemed to be trying to feel out the next move and Kaval shot off Ziggler to the ropes. He tried a victory roll, but Ziggler rolled through and grabbed Kaval's tights to to secure a three count. Vickie screamed in delight as Kaval cursed his bad luck. Ziggler, meanwhile, was bleeding from the nose and selling the effects of Kaval's offense as he left with the belt and Vickie.

WINNER: Ziggler at 9:32. Not quite long enough to reach the three-star level, but good action. They seemed to be a bit off at times and the crowd was waiting for something to get excited for early on before the string of nearfalls at the end. (**1/2)

4 -- TEAM MYSTERIO (Rey Mysterio & Big Show & MVP & Kofi Kingston & Chris Masters) vs. TEAM DEL RIO (Alberto Del Rio & Cody Rhodes & Jack Swagger & Tyler Reks & Drew McIntyre) -- Survivor Series elimination match

The crowd was hot with an MVP chant after the opening bell. Del Rio was great selling disbelief over this sudden interest in MVP. Del Rio and Rey were set to start things off, but Del Rio backed off to the heel corner and smiled. Del Rio pointed at Rey, smiled, and tagged in Rhodes. Suddenly, the announcers bickered over Ricky Henderson. In 2010. Lawler begged them to talk about Survivor Series. Cody smashed Rey with a springboard flash kick for a two count, then Del Rio took an opening to tag in and stomp away on Rey. Rey came back with a head scissors before landing a running dropkick to the chest.

Rey tagged in MVP, who came in hot. MVP scored with a boot to the face and scored a two count. MVP landed kick strikes in the corner followed by a Chono boot on Del Rio for a nearfall. Kofi then tagged in and went to work on Del Rio as Lawler recapped his Survivor Series '94 victory over Doink. You knew it was coming. More men tagged in and out as a few members of the audience chanted for either pizza or Big Show. It was MVP, instead, who came in hot on Drew with multiple clotheslines.

MVP set up for the Ballin' elbow drop and connected on Drew before clotheslining Del Rio off the ring apron. Suddenly, Drew came back with a pin attempt and Del Rio quietly trapped MVP's feet from the floor and Drew scored a pinfall on MVP, who was suddenly eliminated at 5:36. MVP complained about the cheat-to-win tactics as we all recall that it's never good to wrestle in your hometown. One minute later, Masters was eliminated via Del Rio's armbreaker submission.

Big Show entered the match for the first time to a big pop. Chris Masters also entered, but tagged out to Del Rio moments later. Del Rio landed a punch to the head, but Show no-sold. Del Rio celebrated, then turned around and found an angry giant. Del Rio went to his corner and tagged in Drew, who previously wanted nothing to do with it. Del Rio then cockily walked over to Show, who popped him with the KO Punch. Del Rio sold being out cold, but Drew was legal and Show went to work on him. Del Rio received some smelling salt treatment before he was helped away from ringside. No official elimination, though.

Kofi and Cody were in there and Kofi punched Cody in the face. Cody threw an absolute fit that his face was messed up. Cody stomped away to the floor and demanded Roberts held up his ring jacket. Cody checked on his face in the mirror, then kicked the ring steps. Cody yelled at Kofi that he has some nerve, but Kofi comically punched him in the face again. Big Show then tagged in and dropped Cody with the KO Punch for another elimination at 10:57.

Tyler Reks and Jack Swagger then flew into the ring trying to chop down Big Show as Cole recapped the official score of 4-3 Del Rio, but unofficially 3-3 with Del Rio taken away from ringside. Swagger and Big Show settled into a one-on-one battle and Swagger countered the chokeslam into an Anklelock submission center ring. Nice sequence. Show dragged himself toward the corner looking for a tag and Rey Mysterio was able to tag in. Rey came in hot on Swagger and scored a nearfall before running into a big boot from Swagger for a nearfall of his own.

Rey tried to come back with the 619, but Swagger grabbed Rey's leg and slapped on the Anklelock. Rey managed to counter by swinging Swagger around. He wanted the 619 again, but Reks tagged in for Swagger. Kofi tagged in for Rey and battled Reks, who took a boot to the face. Kofi then went up top and landed a big cross-body block for a close two count. Reks and Kofi continued to counter each other before Kofi smashed Reks with a kick strike for a pinfall to eliminate Reks at 15:08.

Swagger came in next and tried the gutwrench bomb on Kofi, but Kofi countered into the Trouble in Paradise, only to have Swagger block and apply the Anklelock. Kofi was forced to tap out at 15:55, giving the heels another elimination. Big Show entered next and tried to launch Rey off his shoulders, but Drew cut out Show at the knees. Rey was legal, though, and set up Swagger for the 619. Rey then climbed onto Show's shoulders and splashed Swagger for a pin to eliminate Swagger with a pin at 17:35.

It was unofficially down to Drew, who took a chokeslam from Big Show after Rey distracted him. Show made the pin and that was apparently the official finish despite Del Rio never being eliminated. Anyways, Big Show and Rey Mysterio win, just like in the battle royal on Smackdown.

WINNERS: Big Show & Rey Mysterio at 18:12. Good sequences throughout the match with standout performances from Jack Swagger with his variety of counters and Del Rio being Del Rio, who was protected by the non-official elimination. The end result in favor of Rey & Show was your classic mid-PPV "feel good moment" for the crowd. (***1/4)

Reks via Kingston at 15:08.

5 -- Unified Divas champions LAY-COOL (MICHELLE MCCOOL & LAYLA) vs. NATALYA -- handicap match -- Unified Divas Title match

Lay-Cool took advantage of the "numbers game" early on. Natalya found herself on the floor and took a kick to the back from Layla. They had a comical spot on the floor where Natalya knocked Layla over the guardrail, then chucked McCool over the guardrail onto Layla, sending Lay-Cool crashing to the floor. Natalya sold a variety of injuries trying to follow up, then Lay-Cool cut her off and sent her back into the ring. McCool tried to follow up, but Natalya dropped her center ring and slapped on the Sharpshooter. McCool instantly tapped out, giving Natalya the victory.

Post-match: Natalya sold the importance of the moment dropping to her knees and crying. She had her moment for a little bit before Lay-Cool jumped her from behind. They put a beating on Natalya building to...Beth Phoenix making her return from injury. Phoenix smashed Lay-Cool with Polish Hammers, then dropped Layla with the Glam Slam for an exclamation point on her return. Beth hoisted Layla on her shoulders to celebrate before tearing up a bit celebrating the title victory with Natalya.

WINNER: Natalya at 3:38 to capture the Divas Title. Another "feel good moment," this time for Natalya, followed by a surprise return. Beth returning from injury certainly adds another dimension to a women's division in desperate need of depth. We'll probably be seeing a round of Lay-Cool vs. Beth & Natalya type matches on Smackdown. (*)
 
6 -- World Hvt. champion KANE vs. EDGE -- World Hvt. Title match

Kane tried to be aggressive from the start, but Edge cut him off and slipped to the outside to mock Kane by rolling the wheelchair around the ringside area. Edge lured Kane into his trap and wrapped Kane's leg around the ringpost. Back in the ring, Edge went to work on Kane's left knee before Kane came back with leg smashes to the throat. Kane then hung Edge out to dry across the top rope and landed a boot to the head to send Edge to the floor.

On the outside, Kane smashed Edge into the barricade before taking him back into the ring. Kane screamed at Edge demanding to know where Bearer is. The quiet crowd woke up with a "Let's go Edge" chant as Kane continued to take out his frustration on Edge. Kane climbed up top looking for a clothesline, but Edge blocked with a mid-air dropkick that floored both men. Kane and Edge traded near-finishing holds, resulting in Edge scoring with an implant DDT. Edge then got that look in his eyes as he backed off to the corner. Edge wanted the Spear, but Kane blocked with a boot to the forehead. Kane followed with a chokeslam and made a cover, but Edge kicked out.

Kane then teased the Tombstone Piledriver, but Edge dropped Kane with the Spear. Edge kind of rolled over on his side and both men's arms were draped over each other. The ref started a three count and counted to three. Edge's music hit to signal a title change, but the ref waved it off and waved off Tony Chimel's announcement that Edge was the new champion. Chimel then announced the result was a "tie." Who uses the word "tie" anymore in sports? As a result, Kane is still World champ. No replay of the finish here.

Post-match: Kane jumped Edge from behind wanting to know what happened to Bearer. Edge shook off Kane and smashed him into the guardrail. Edge then placed Kane in the guardrail and sped him down the ringside area where he crashed through the gimmicked wall near the timekeeper's table for a loud noise and strong visual. And we're back to the WrestleMania 26 finish with Jericho. A replay of the No Contest finish was shown after the angle. They showed Edge and Kane locking their forearms together and both men's shoulders down on the pin.

WINNER: No Contest at 12:50, Kane retains the World Title. One of those frustratingly uninteresting Smackdown title matches where the TV storyline of Kane wanting to find Bearer doesn't match up with Kane trying to win a match to solve the issue. The non-finish was a groaner but apparently keeps Edge in the game to challenge Kane for the title again. (**)

7 -- WWE Unified tag champions NEXUS (HEATH SLATER & JUSTIN GABRIEL w/David Otunga, Husky Harris, and Mike McGillicutty) vs. SANTINO & KOZLOV

The announcers noted Kozlov has been teaching Santino some Sambo moves. Why didn't this potentially great training video air on TV to hype the bonus title match? Santino greeted Slater with Arian Foster's Touchdown pose before landing a throw into a headlock to show off the Sambo training. Kozlov tagged in and Gabriel took him out at the knees. Nexus began a two-on-one attack as Santino complained to the referee. Kozlov eventually broke free from Nexus and tagged in Santino, who landed left hand jabs and fired himself up. Santino with a hip topss, then the Sailor's salute fist drop on Slater. Gabriel broke up a pin, then the action broke down. Santino suddenly warmed up the Cobra, but Nexus members ran interference. Slater then hit his necktie drop finisher that looks like a transition hold for the pin and the win.

WINNERS: Nexus at 5:11 to retain the WWE Tag Titles. Simply a placeholder leading to the main event. The non-Barrett members of Nexus just aren't there yet. (*1/4)

Post-match: Nexus attacked Santino and Kozlov. Suddenly, the Raw GM buzzed and the lights flashed. Cole stepped to the podium and read that at the upcoming WWE Title match, Nexus is banned from ringside. If any member of Nexus attempts to interfere, the entire group will be indefinitely suspended. Therefore, he advises Nexus to leave the ring immediately.
 
8 -- WWE champion RANDY ORTON vs. WADE BARRETT -- WWE Title match -- John Cena special referee -- Free or Fired for Cena -- Victory by pinfall or submission only

Before the bell sounded, Cena asked Orton to hand over the WWE Title belt. Cena showed it to Barrett, then held it up for the crowd to see. Cue the bell. All three men held their places in the ring before Orton and Barrett circled and locked up. The crowd chanted "RKO" as Orton drove Barrett to the corner, then backed away. Another lock up and stalemate. Orton then grabbed a headlock and put Barrett on the mat. Orton then landed a shoulder knock down and Barrett backed away to his corner.

The men circled the ring again before Orton landed a clothesline out of the corner. Cena became involved trying to apply the rules, which gave Orton an opening to land a classic dropkick. Orton then pounded on Barrett with right hands that Cena gave him leeway on. On the floor, Orton attacked Barrett and rammed him into the ring steps. Back in the ring, Barrett took control and whipped Orton hard into the corner turnbuckle before standing on his throat. Barrett then hit a boot to the head and settled into a chinlock.

At 9:00, both men came to their feet and started trading bombs trying to get the crowd involved. Orton then ran over Barrett with a knockdown clothesline followed by a powerslam. Orton fired himself up a bit, then clotheslined Barrett over the top rope to the floor. However, Barrett rammed Orton back-first into the ringpost. Back in the ring, Barrett ran into a fallaway backbreaker from Orton for a two count. Moments later, Barrett came back with a flying elbow drop from the second rope and scored a nearfall that Cena emphatically called out as a two count. Barrett with another nearfall, which led to Barrett questioning Cena's cadence.

Barrett set up Orton for the Wasteland, but Orton slipped out, only to run into the Black Hole Slam for a two count. Striker at first called it the Boss Man Slam before actually saying the phrase "Black Hole Slam." Silence for a while as Barrett and Cena intensified their discussion. The crowd began a dueling "Let's go Cena" and "Cena sucks" chant despite Cena not in the match. Orton tried to cut those off setting up for the RKO, but Barrett rolled to the outside. Orton then dropped him with a clothesline on the floor and rolled Barrett back into the ring.

Orton was slow re-entering the ring and Barrett hit him with a boot to the head. Barrett then dropped Orton with Wasteland center ring. Barrett rolled him over, but Orton grabbed the bottom rope just before three to break Cena's count. Barrett verified, but still had a word for Cena. Barrett suddenly shoved Cena, who looked away and tried to hold himself. Cena then bumped Barrett, which led to Orton dropping Barrett with the RKO. Orton made a cover, then Cena counted one...two...pause...three. Striker shouted, "Cena's Free!" Cole corrected him: "Cena's Fired." Striker muttered that he got caught up in the moment.

Post-match: Cena then sat down in the corner and contemplated this that he's fired. The moment didn't really have that momentous feel to it. Nexus hit the ring and tried to attack Cena, but Cena and Orton fought them all off. Cena and Orton were left alone in the ring, then Cena grabbed the WWE Title belt from ringside, re-entered the ring, and handed it back to Orton. They embraced, then Orton posed with the WWE Title. Cena was still in the corner as the announcers remained silent.

Orton walked out of the ring with possession of the WWE Title before looking back to the ring and holding his arms up in the air. Orton patted the entrance stage on the way out before the camera returned to Cena standing in the corner.

Cena took off his trademark wristbands and placed them in the center of the ring. Cena slowly looked around the arena before doing salutes to all four corners of the ring. Cena walked over to the announce table and hugged Michael Cole before hugging Sign Guy on the way out. Even Tye-Dye Guy got some TV time. Cena stood on the entrance ramp and smiled before pointing to someone and saying, "Thank you." Cena turned back up the entrance ramp and stood on the stage looking into the crowd. He surveyed the arena one more time before raising his hands in the air as the spotlight was on him.

The crowd chanted for him, then he left the stage and walked into the crowd shaking hands with fans. No sound from the announcers. Not much sound in the arena other than random shouts. Cena shook hands with as many fans as he could touch as a spotlight followed him around the arena. This wasn't something you normally see on WWE TV. Cena continued his victory lap as a single spotlight followed him around the arena. Cena eventually made it back to the entrance stage and saluted the crowd again before turning to leave backstage again. They faded to black at ten minutes before the top of the hour to conclude the PPV.

WINNER: Orton at 15:15 to retain the WWE Title, Cena "fired." The match itself was okay and will be forgotten by tomorrow night. The "swerve" here was Cena actually counting a clean pin for Orton and Cena being "fired." WWE sure played with the emotions of their audience with Cena trying to make it a "real" send-off. In actuality, it looks like Barrett reverses the stipulation (because he has booking power, apparently) either Monday on Raw or sometime down the road because he wants to get his hands on Cena. And he can't get his hands on Cena unless he's in WWE. So, overall, an anticlimactic finish to the PPV that felt more like a TV storyline stretching out to the next TV episode. (**)

1 -- COLT CABANA vs. ERICK STEVENS (w/Prince Nana and Ernesto Osiris) -- #1 contender match for TV Title

Mike Hogewood noted Nana's numerous unsuccessful attempts to find someone from the Embassy to win the TV Title. Cue the opening bell. Cabana controlled the action early on, seemingly toying with Stevens at times. The remarkably slimmed down Stevens then caught Cabana with a Samoan Drop off the ropes to take control of the action. Cabana then ducked a clothesline after being shot off the ropes and came back with a flying shoulder tackle. Cabana babyfaced up by reaching out to the crowd for extra strength before firing off a round of thrust chops and signature Boom Boom Boom right hand blows. A Dusty Rhodes elbow to the forehead resulted in a two count, which drew Nana's involvement on the outside. Cabana, distracted, walked into a big clothesline from Stevens, who scored a nearfall.

The crowd stomped and clapped as they picked up the pace nearing the finish. Stevens scored with a suplex, then wanted the Choo-Choo attack, but Cabana blocked with a flying butt bomb. Cabana then slapped on the Billy Goat's Curse. Stevens teased a tap out, but the Embassy became involved. Stevens tried to capitalize with the Dr. Bomb, but Cabana blocked and rolled up Stevens for the pin and the win. Nana's unsuccessful quest for the TV Title continues.

WINNER: Cabana in 10:00. A solid, workman-like effort from both men. ROH has an opportunity to deliver some strong build-up to Cabana vs. Eddie Edwards, when healthy, for the TV Title. (**)

2 -- DAIZEE HAZE vs. SARA DEL REY

Back from break, they went right to the ring for Women of Honor action. Daizee tried to knock Del Rey off her feet and was successful with a flying cross-body block for a two count. Haze knocked Del Rey to the outside, then went up top and missed with a dive before taking a hard knockdown clothesline. Back in the ring, Del Rey dominated the action as Prazak, the promoter of SHIMMER, put over the female wrestlers trying to prove themselves as athletes, not trying to advance their modeling careers.

Haze then came back with a huracanrana and a facebuster for a two count. Prazak stressed "competition" throughout the match as the women went back and forth. Del Rey then trapped Haze on the top rope and locked her in a Gory special submission hold. She flexed Haze on her back as if she were on a Bowflex commercial, then bent Haze in half over her shoulder. Sick submission attempt.

Haze escaped and applied a bow & arrow submission, which turned into a pin attempt for a nearfall. In the corner, Del Rey scored with a cannonball splash before a landing a big powerbomb that looked like the finish, but Haze kicked out. Del Rey wanted a second powerbomb, but the bell sounded. Ten minute time limit draw. Haze said she wanted more time while Del Rey caught her breath. The announcers said they didn't find out who's better tonight.

WINNER: Draw at 10:00. A classic Gail Kim vs. Awesome Kong type match-up with Del Rey playing the role of a bully setting up Haza's "fiery babyface comebacks. Overall, it was an very good back-and-forth match that continued the story after a clear draw. (**)

3 -- DAVEY RICHARDS vs. SHAWN DAIVARI (w/Nana and Osiris)

Prazak name-dropped Hulk Hogan and Shawn Michaels as men Daivari has gone through during his career. Richards dominated early on, but Daivari showed toughness absorbing multiple kick strikes and knocking Richards to the outside. Nice start selling two tough guys having a fight. Richards then ducked a clothesline and kicked Daivari to the outside. Richards tried a baseball slide kick, but Daivari blocked, only to take a running boot over the guardrail into the front row. Davey high-fived fans to excite the crowd before rolling Daivari back into the ring.

Osiris became involved trying to trip up Richards from the floor, which gave Daivari momentary advantage. Moments later, Richards smashed Osiris with a running kick strike that floored Osiris. Richards then applied an anklelock on Daivari, who escaped. Nana became involved, so Richards punched him to the floor before landing a missile dropkick on Daivari. The kids and women were screaming for Richards, who went up top and landed a diving headbutt. Pin attempt, but Daivari kicked out.

Daivari returned serve with multiple German Suplexes ala Kurt Angle. Richards escaped a fourth momentarily before Daivari hand-clapped Davey's face and executed a release German Suplex for a two count. The crowd loudly chanted, "U-S-A," despite Daivari being American, but that's neither here nor there. Daivari climbed up top for a frog splash, but Davey got his knees up to block.

The competitors came to their feet and traded bombs before Richards landed a step-up enziguiri, only to have Daivari come right back with the backstabber for a close two count. Richards then escaped Daivari's follow-up offense and rolled into an Anklelock submission. Daivari fought the hold, then Davey transitioned into the Texas Cloverleaf. Daivari tapped out, giving Richards the victory. Hogewood signed off with a plug for Richards challenging Roderick Strong for the ROH Title at Final Battle. "Is Richards the next ROH champion?"

WINNER: Richards via submission in 12:00. Another very good, competitive TV match. Daivari was very impressive in a role where he could showcase his in-ring ability. He also set a good tone for the match early on selling his toughness to break away from that cartoonish, comedy heel character he played on national TV. Richards was Richards coming out strong on the way to Final Battle. (***)

1 -- R-TRUTH (w/Eve) vs. SHEAMUS -- KOTR qualifying match

The bell sounded and Punk gave an early prediction for Sheamus winning the whole tournament. Sheamus dominated early on and smashed Truth into the mat to wear him down. Punk dismissed the idea of Cena being allowed back on Raw to come have some farewell words after being fired. Truth suddenly made a come back and sort of did a non-PG pelvic thrust toward Sheamus. Truth then ducked a clothesline and cleared Sheamus to the outside where Sheamus angrily pounded the announce table. Truth and Eve had a chuckle as they cut to break.

Back from break, Sheamus was trying to wipe Truth's smile off his face driving him into the mat. Cole noted there will be four KOTR qualifying matches on Raw tonight. Truth broke free from Sheamus, but ran into a knee to the gut. Truth then made a comeback and scored with a hip toss for a two count. Truth then went up top and landed a big missile dropkick on Sheamus, who collapsed to the mat. Truth rolled over Sheamus and made a cover, but Sheamus escaped in time.

Sheamus suddenly came back with a big Brogue Kick that cut off Truth's momentum. Sheamus regrouped, caught his breath, and wanted the High Cross to finish off Truth. The crowd reacted to Sheamus setting up the move, which was a good sign. Sheamus showed off his strength lifting Truth up in the air, then executed the finisher by dropping Truth in the corner. Sheamus with the pin for the win.

WINNER: Sheamus at 11:05 to qualify for KOTR. Nice match. Good two-segment contest getting over Sheamus's aggression on his march back toward respectability. (**1/4)

2 -- ALEX RILEY vs. EZEKIEL JACKSON -- KOTR qualifying match

Cole said he wishes he knew in advance so he could send Miz flowers and a "get well" card. Zeke dominated early on before Riley avoided a corner attack and landed a big splash. Riley then floored Jackson and rolled him over for a two count. Jackson then powered out of Riley's reverse chinlock and landed multiple shoulder tackles followed by a big corner clothesline. Jackson followed with the dominator and that was it for Riley.

WINNER: Jackson at 1:54 to qualify for KOTR. Riley had a lot more offense than I expected here. The obvious goal was getting over Jackson on that Sheamus level of being a threat to run the table with his power offense in the KOTR tournament next week.

3 -- U.S. champion DANIEL BRYAN (w/Brie Bella) vs. TED DIBIASE (w/Maryse) -- non-title KOTR qualifying match

DiBiase dominated early on, with them apparently short on time and cutting right to DiBiase in control. DiBiase then missed with a corner splash and Bryan smashed him with a flying kick to the chest. Bryan tried another attack, but DiBiase busted out a spinebuster for the second straight night. DiBiase then tried a leverage pin on Bryan, but Bryan kicked out and immediately went to the LeBell Lock. DiBiase could not escape and was forced to tap out, giving Bryan the win.

Post-match: Brie slid into the ring to congratulate Bryan. Suddenly, Nikki Bella ran into the ring and grabbed Bryan's other arm to pet him. Bryan wanted nothing to do with a potential cat fight. So, he removed himself from the situation and pushed them close together to embrace. Bryan was smooth there.

WINNER: Bryan via submission at 1:52 to qualify for KOTR. They didn't have much time to stand out following their strong PPV match the night before. It made DiBiase look weak, but the audience is used to that by now. As for the Bellas bit, who knows. (*1/4)

4 -- Unified Divas champion NATALYA vs. ALICIA FOX -- non-title match

Interesting beginning with an exchange of catapults into the ropes. Natalya executed a delayed vertical suplex, then slapped on a bear hug. Alicia slipped out, but Natalya grabbed her by the foot and slapped on the Sharpshooter. Alicia was forced to tap out.

WINNER: Natalya at 2:13. Impressive win for Natalya, who is quickly being established as a dominant force. Good to see a potential revitalization of actual women's wrestling in WWE.

5 -- TYSON KIDD vs. JOHN MORRISON -- KOTR qualifying match

Punk said he doesn't understand what's going on with the Divas chasing around the male wrestlers tonight. Kidd aggressively attacked Morrison early on as Punk referenced his feud with Morrison on ECW. Kidd settled into a reverse chinlock before re-entering his heel persona screaming and shouting, "Ask him!" Morrison suddenly ducked a kick strike and blasted Kidd with a thrust kick to the chest. Morrison followed with a leg whip as Punk questioned Cole describing Morrison "molding his body."

Kidd came back with a cradle swinging neckbreaker for a two count. Punk put over the importance of the KOTR tournament while Kidd resumed control of the match. Morrison then executed a double springboard Flying Chuck before going to the corner and executing Starship Pain for the pin and the win, which drew big applause from the "Let's go Cena" crowd. After a replay of Morrison "molding his body" throughout the match, they showed Morrison clapping for the crowd to conclude the match segment.

WINNER: Morrison at 3:17 to qualify for KOTR. Morrison joins Bryan, Jackson, and Sheamus as the four Raw wrestlers in the KOTR tournament. Morrison is quickly moving up the babyface ladder in the absence of Cena for however long Cena is away from TV. On the other side, Kidd was able to show flashes of his trademark heel mannerisms that could really catch on. (*1/2)

6 -- WWE champion RANDY ORTON vs. WADE BARRETT -- WWE Title match

Chioda double-checked with Orton, who demanded he call for the bell, and the match was on. Barrett circled around Orton before attacking the knee. Barrett was aggressive wrenching Orton's knee around the corner ropes and into the ring apron. Barrett continued to work over Orton's knee as they plugged the three-hour Raw next week. Orton suddenly ducked a clothesline and hit the fallaway backbreaker to buy some time. Punk referenced Roddy Piper's promo last week about Barrett spitting on the WWE Title if Barrett wins and he agrees.

Barrett suddenly hit the Wasteland finisher and had the pin, but Cena stormed the ring through the crowd and yanked the referee out of the ring. The crowd was going nuts, then Nexus chased Cena through the crowd and into the arena where they disappeared. Back in the ring, Orton dropped Barrett with the RKO, Chioda came to life, and a three count was rendered for Orton to retain.

WINNER: Orton at 3:50 to retain the WWE Title. That was a heated match and Cena's interruption hinted at follow-up next week. It led to...

Suddenly, The Miz's music hit. Miz stormed the ring with the MITB briefcase in hand and Riley was with him. Punk said this looks really familiar to him. Miz cashed in, Chioda raised the WWE Title belt, and the bell sounded.

7 -- WWE champion RANDY ORTON vs. THE MIZ (w/Alex Riley) -- WWE Title match

Orton backed away to the corner forcing Miz to go after him. Miz finally scored with an attack on the knee and went to work on Orton's knee, just like Barrett. Miz teased the Skullcrushing Finale, but Orton blocked and caught Miz on the ring apron. He teased the spike DDT, but Miz blocked, only to come back with a powerslam. Orton then began slithering to tease the RKO. He grappled Miz around the neck, but Miz slipped out immediately into the Skullcrushing Finale. Miz made the cover and scored the three count. He's the new WWE champion.

WINNER: Miz at 2:42 to become WWE champion for the first time. Well, I was wrong on thinking Miz wouldn't cash in MITB in 2010. A bit of a crazy ending to the show to say the least. Miz follows the likes of heels Edge, C.M. Punk, and Jack Swagger to get their first major WWE Title via cashing in MITB. Overall, the two matches got a lot of heat on Orton and made him an important player again. It was needed after he was an afterthought during his brief title run. (n/a)

WWE NXT Results: 11-23-10

1 -- NIKKI BELLA (w/Brie Bella) vs. KAITLYN (w/Vickie Guerrero)

Brie remained on the ring apron to encourage the more aggressive of the twins. Cole started a conversation on the Bellas randomly approaching Daniel Bryan last night on Raw and Bryan apparently rejecting their advances. Kaitlyn used her power offense early on as Cole noted the Pros are still evaluating the Rookies tonight ahead of the elimination. Nikki then came back with an emphatic move and played to the crowd, almost taunting the seemingly empty arena. She's developed a very marketable edge to her character. Mathews plugged the WWE App on his iPhone, which can be found along with the PWTorch App in the iTunes market. The announcers were surprisingly no-selling Vickie ringside.

Cole then talked about Miz becoming new WWE champion. Mathews noted Miz's title victory leading to a Trending Topic and TMZ covering it. Nikki picked up the win and Cole acknowledged Vickie telling her she needs a new Rookie. Vickie began screaming at Kaitlyn, who tried to brush Vickie aside. Mathews said Vickie is the worst Pro in the history of WWE.

WINNER: Nikki in 5:00. Fine showcase of Nikki's personality, which she has managed to get over on this show. (*)

2 -- A.J. (w/Primo) vs. NAOMI (w/Kelly Kelly)

Mathews dramatically tried to build up a talking point of the interesting relationship between A.J. and Primo lately. Cole just no-sold. Cole said he was informed by one of his producers that he talks way too much. He then started to cut a promo on his producer before plugging the King of the Ring tournament on Monday's three-hour episode. Naomi and A.J. were even-steven through the first two minutes, so they shook hands after a handshake. Mathews wondered aloud if there will be another season of NXT. Cole muttered he hopes not.

A.J. and Naomi exchanged nearfalls while Cole pouted on commentary. They came to their feet and traded blows before a double knock down following a Tornado DDT by A.J. Primo and Kelly encouraged their Rookies to get up. "Shut up, Primo," Kelly shouted across the ring to Primo. Cole finally came to life and said, "This is a great match-up!" A.J. built momentum, but ran into a spinning heel kick from Naomi. A.J. then slapped on her octopus submission and Cole shouted, "Octopus, octopus, octopus, octopus, octopus, tap out, tap out, tap out, tap out, go to sleep, go to sleep, go to sleep!" Naomi eventually tapped out, giving A.J. the win.

WINNER: A.J. via submission in 7:00. Cole was acting as he sold excitement over the match, but it was a strong match. Both A.J. and Naomi could provide a boost to the women's division and have strong matches with the top women's wrestlers on the roster. (**)

Ringside: Striker assembled the three remaining Rookies ringside to see which Diva Rookie is going home. Cue the drumroll and, yes, A.J. is eliminated.

The crowd booed and groaned. A.J. took the mic and thanked everyone who voted for her. She began to cry talking about the fans being ready for a Diva like her. A.J. wants to represent all of the girls watching and be a girl the guys want to hang out with. A.J. said this is not the last they have seen of her. She said she will be back and she will accomplish her dreams.

Striker gave it up for A.J., who hugged it out with Naomi and Kaitlyn. Primo just shook his head on the stage unhappy with the elimination. They replayed A.J.'s reaction as Mathews and Cole sold shock over the cut. They replayed Primo selling disbelief. Mathews said voting for next week's final elimination begins at noon EST on WWE's website tomorrow. They showed Kaitlyn and Naomi standing next to each other ringside as the final shot to wrap up the show.

WWE Superstars Results: 11-25-10

1 -- TRENT BARRETA vs. CURT HAWKINS

Hawkins toyed with and taunted Barreta early on, so Barreta struck him with right hands to the mid-section. Hawkins regained control then asked Jacksonville who the man is. No one replied. Barreta then replied by knocking Hawkins to the outside before hitting a big flip dive. Barreta sold an injury, then slowly walked over to Hawkins, who sent him flying into the guardrail. The referee reached a six count...and they cut to commercial in the middle of a key situation with the mach hanging in the balance. That's sheer laziness from WWE only focusing on count-outs when the finish is a convenient excuse to get out of a clear winner and loser. It should be consistent across the board in every match on every show.

Back from break, both men apparently re-entered the ring before the ten count considering the match was still ongoing with Barreta locked in a headlock. The match moved to the ring apron where Barreta kicked Hawkins in the gut and nailed a sort of leaping leg scissors that knocked Hawkins to the floor. They worked the ten count again, then re-entered the ring where Barreta mounted some offense. Barreta scored with a high-impact springboard missile dropkick for a two count, then Hawkins escaped a roll-up attempt.

Hawkins followed up with a top rope elbow drop attempt, but Barreta moved out of the way and motivated himself to reach his feet. Barreta then hit a big flying knee smash, but Hawkins kicked out. Barretta tried to hit a springboard DDT for the finish, like last week, but Hawkins blocked and immediately hit a facebuster. It was good for a three count to even the recent series. Tye-Dye Guy stood up on the second row to express his approval.

WINNER: Hawkins at 12:00. It looks like we're in line for a rubber match after the two men split the first two matches. Barreta has stood out as a singles wrestler in these matches, which is good for him trying to avoid a pink slip, like his former tag partner, Caylen Croft. Hawkins has not done enough to distinguish himself yet, but that could come with more time and investment from WWE. (*3/4)

2 -- SANTINO & KOZLOV vs. ZACK RYDER & PRIMO

Also of note from the timing here was Primo's NXT Rookie, A.J., not accompanying Primo to the ring for the match taped Monday, which seemed to give away her elimination the next night on NXT. Kozlov and Ryder began the match. After a stalemate, Primo and Santino entered the ring. Santino tried to show a more serious in-ring arsenal before tagging in Kozlov, who rammed Primo with multiple shoulder blocks. Santino re-entered and took down Ryder, who also re-entered. Santino knocked Ryder to the outside before Lawler offered an interesting comment that stood out beyond the usual announcer fare. "Zack Ryder might want to get used to disappointment in his career if he stays around WWE much longer," Lawler said. On that note, they cut to break with the international duo in control.

Back from break, the crowd was rallying behind Santino, who broke free of a submission hold and attempted the Sailor's Salute fist drop, but Primo blocked with his knees. Ryder then entered the ring and pounded on Santino with right hands. Back to Primo, who taunted Kozlov. Santino eventually made the hot tag to Kozlov, who punted a man before the action broke down. Kozlov proceeded to clothesline Ryder over the top rope to the floor and also made a tag to Santino in the process. Santino entered the ring and dropped Primo with the Cobra, which was good for a three count.

WINNERS: Santino & Kozlov in 12:00. Fine tag match. Primo and Ryder just seem to be hanging onto roster spots at this point as enhancement talent for babyfaces. It's unfortunate when both could be better utilized, but their roles right now are to make others look better and seem as non-threatening as possible. (*1/4)

3 -- MARK HENRY vs. USOS (JIMMY & JEY w/Tamina)

This was a re-match from the Usos winning the same handicap match three weeks ago. Henry started by flinging Jey halfway across the ring. Henry smiled, then ran over Jey with a shoulder block. Henry went for a corner splash moments later, but Jimmy moved and took Henry out at the knee. The Usos worked him for a few minutes before Henry dragged both Usos into the ring. Henry wanted a big double splash, teased it to the crowd, and connected. Jimmy was left alone in the ring and Henry nailed the World's Strongest Slam for the win. After a replay of the finish, Henry smiled for the crowd and celebrated the win to close out the show.

WINNER: Henry in 6:00. Dominating victory for Henry, who evened the recent series to 1-1. More even-steven booking with an opportunity for another rubber match. (*)

1 -- JACK SWAGGER (w/Eagle Mascot) vs. KOFI KINGSTON -- KOTR qualifying match

Matt Striker noted William Regal is the reigning King of the Ring dating back a few years. Swagger started with amateur wrestling as the crowd chanted for Kofi. Eagle was upset with this and turned to the audience to quiet them down. Swagger then slipped out of the ring and regrouped with Eagle, who flapped encouragement. Back in the ring, Swagger locked up with Kofi and tried to catapult him into the corner, but Kofi landed on his feet and hit a nice cross-body block for a two count. The PG crowd was hot for Kofi, who worked from underneath selling a knee injury as Swagger went to work on the left leg and knee area. Kofi eventually slid out of the ring to catch a breather and Swagger glared down at him as they cut to break five minutes in.

Back from break, the announcers plugged the King of the Ring on Monday's Raw while Eagle got involved grabbing Kofi's feet as he stood on the ring apron. Kofi kicked Eagle in the head, but Swagger knocked Kofi to the outside. Kofi and the bird sold on the floor, then Swagger rolled Kofi back into the ring for a two count. Swagger back in control here. Nice, aggressive spot where Swagger shoved Kofi so hard into the middle rope that it knocked the live ringside cameraman backwards, like a wide receiver crashing into a sideline camera during a football game.

Swagger continued to cut off any momentum Kofi started to build as the announcers bickered amongst themselves. Swagger then played with Kofi by using his boot to shove Kofi out of the ring to the floor. The bird was great pointing and giggling at Kofi. Swagger tried to follow on the outside, but Kofi blocked and bounced Swagger's head off the ring steps. Back in the ring, Swagger regained control as the bird waved instructions to "Swags." Kofi started firing off kick strikes, then an open-hand thrust to build some momentum. Kofi missed with a flying clothesline, but slipped out of a suplex and smashed Swagger into the bottom turnbuckle. Unique spot with Kofi hitting the Boom Drop as Swagger was draped across the bottom buckle, which resulted in a nearfall.

Kofi tried to hit a home run going up top, but Swagger caught Kofi in mid-air and delivered a big powerslam. Swagger then wanted the running Vader Bomb, but Kofi got his feet up to block. Swagger was dazed and Kofi tried a kick, but Swagger grabbed Kofi's ankle. Kofi blocked the lock, though, and sent Swagger head-first into the turnbuckle. Swagger, stunned, got to his feet and walked into the Trouble in Paradise. Swagger sold beautifully and tipped over to the mat in the corner. Kofi made the cover and hooked Swagger's body away from the corner ropes to score a clean win for the win.

WINNER: Kingston in 18:00 to qualify for KOTR. Another very good TV match between these two. The match had some unique counters and spots at the end of the match to make it really stand out. Swagger and Kofi have excellent chemistry with Swagger basing for Kofi's offense while also in a position to get over his power offense. The formula gets sympathy on Kofi, who is very good at working from behind to make his comebacks while rallying the PG audience. (***1/4)

2 -- BIG SHOW vs. ALBERTO DEL RIO -- KOTR qualifying match

The bell sounded and Del Rio pointed a finger at Show. Show then shoved Del Rio into the corner and tried a frying pan chop, but Del Rio ducked and landed a dropkick that shifted Show a bit. Del Rio randomly went up top, so Show grabbed him around the throat and dumped him on the floor. Show mockingly winked at Del Rio, who sold on the floor as they cut to break.

Back from break, Show was methodically working over Del Rio, who flopped around the ring before landing a jawbreaker on Show. Del Rio then tried the crossarm breaker, but Show flung him overhead to the mat. Big Show then teased the KO Punch, so Del Rio ran out of the ring to the outside. Show followed on the outside and smashed Del Rio into the announce table before rolling him back into ring. Rodriguez then grabbed Show's feet on the floor, prompting Show to pick up Ricardo and deliver the big KO Punch to the face. The ref was at a nine count, then Show caught the ref's count, which reached ten to give Del Rio the win. Show grimaced and covered his head in disgust as Del Rio celebrated.

WINNER: Del Rio via count-out in 8:00 to qualify for KOTR. Heelish win after a bearable match. I'm not quite sure it's the right match-up for Del Rio, who's still a fragile character trying to establish credibility to back his brash persona. (*)

3 -- MVP vs. DREW MCINTYRE -- KOTR qualifying match

McIntyre was aggressive from the start, getting in MVP's face to trash talk. MVP responded with open-hand slaps and a flying knee to the back of the head. MVP made a cover, but McIntyre kicked out. MVP followed with aggressive right hands before knocking McIntyre to the outside. On the floor, MVP rammed McIntyre face-first into the guardrail before eating the ring steps. Mac then stomped MVP's left arm into the ring steps. Back in the ring, Mac went to work on the left arm as Cole noted McIntyre typically becomes too casual when he usually takes control of a match, which has hurt his win/loss record. That was quite possibly the most insightful line Cole has delivered in months - if not years - selling the in-ring product.

McIntyre tried to resume the left-arm attack on the floor, but MVP rammed Mac into the ring steps. Back in the ring, MVP mounted a comeback with his good right arm. Mac took a facebuster across the knee before MVP landed a one-arm Ballin' elbow drop. MVP then wanted the Playmaker, but Mac blocked. MVP tried a corner move, but he couldn't push off his bad arm and McIntyre hit the Future Shock DDT. McIntyre with the pin and the win.

WINNER: McIntyre in 5:00 to qualify for KOTR. The commentary on this match was refreshingly focused on selling the action like a simulated competition. There are so many stories WWE can tell from this match, e.g. what does MVP need to do to get back on track, why is he losing matches, etc., to set up a "comeback story" the audience can get behind. (*1/2)

4 -- KELLY KELLY vs. MICHELLE McCOOL (w/Layla)

McCool dominated early on, taking out her frustration over dropping the Unified Divas Title to Natalya at Survivor Series. Out of nowhere, Kelly rolled up McCool and trapped her shoulders to the mat for the quick win. Post-match: McCool and Layla beat up Kelly until Beth Phoenix made the save, making her Smackdown TV return after her return at Survivor Series. McCool was left alone in the ring to take the Glam Slam from Phoenix. McCool sold like a dead body outline while Layla freaked out ringside. After a replay of the events, Phoenix and Kelly stood tall in the ring while Lay-Cool regrouped on the floor.

WINNER: Kelly in 1:30. Fine to set up Phoenix's reintroduction on TV. (n/a)

5 -- REY MYSTERIO vs. CODY RHODES -- KOTR qualifying match

Prior to the bell sounding for the main event, Del Rio's music hit for a closer look at Rey's match-up. Cody was as perturbed as Rey with Del Rio's presence ringside. Del Rio greeted Cole with a royal handshake, brushed off Grisham, and stood next to Striker ringside. Rey landed a strike near the face early on, so Cody bailed to the floor to check out his face in his jacket mirror. Rey proceeded to blast Cody from behind, but Cody came back with a kick strike to the face. In the ring, Cody nailed the Alabama Slam for a two count. Del Rio: "You know, I am one step to being the king." Cody maintained control and Rey rolled to the outside to regroup as they cut to a final break.

Back from break, Cody was working over Rey's left arm as Striker queried Del Rio on whether he can be his personal color commentator if he wins King of the Ring. Del Rio ran down Rey, then was asked what he thinks of Cody. Pause. "I am going to skip that question," he dryly said. Rey finally found some offense with a top rope seated sentaun before nailing a turnaround cross-body splash. Rey then walked into a Cross Rhodes attempt, but Rey countered into a quick bridge pin for a nearfall. Rey then smashed Cody in the face for a nearfall.

Rey set up Cody for the 619, but Cody dropped out of the ring as Del Rio dropped his headsets. Rey then tried to smash Cody with a seated sentaun, but Cody ducked and Del Rio ate the move, which popped the crowd. Back in the ring, Rey kicked Cody across the ring and Cody flew back into the referee. Del Rio then crotched Rey into the ringpost from behind. The ref was down, then Cody hit Cross Rhodes on Rey. Cody made the cover, the ref came to, and a three count was rendered in Cody's favor.

WINNER: Rhodes in 9:00 to qualify for KOTR.
