WWE Superstars Results: 9-22-11

At least for now, WWE has discontinued airing the weekly Superstars show online due to low traffic. The show will continue to be taped for international distribution as part of WWE's international TV contracts. After a two-year run on WGN, the show was moved to WWE's website on Thursdays, but WWE has not released this week's episode and has removed virtually all references to Superstars on their website. The show will be kept alive for international distribution, but WWE said in their most-recent conference call with investors they would like to find a new TV home for Superstars by the end of the year. If not, the show will likely return on the WWE TV Network in 2012.

WWE Smackdown Results: 9-23-11

1 – HEATH SLATER vs. SHEAMUS

No entrance for Slater, but it makes sense if he was out there in the opening segment. Josh Mathews, Cole, and Booker T. were shown on camera during Sheamus’ entrance. Cole joked that this match was like the girl from Wendy’s vs. Ronald McDonald. He said someone Tweeted him that earlier. It was all Sheamus early on, as he connected on many of his pet moves, including the forearms across the chest and the running knee to the face with Slater in the ropes. Slater attempted a comeback at 1:51 of the match, and landed a swinging neck-breaker for only one. He went on offense for an extended time, but Slater’s mistake was allowing Sheamus to get back to his feet. High knee, flying shoulder-tackle, then a Brogue Kick for the win.

WINNER: Sheamus, at 4:31. Slater actually got more offense than I expected. A step up from some of his recent past squashes.

2 – WADE BARRETT vs. JUSTIN GABRIEL

Cole noted the contrast of styles at play in this match. Barrett was very aggressive to start, sending Gabriel to ringside with a big boot. Gabriel came back with a headscissors that took Barrett to the outside. Gabriel dove over the top and flipped onto Barrett. Springboard moonsault for two by Gabriel. Back elbow by Barrett, by Gabriel came back with an STO. Gabriel went to the top, but Barrett booted him down. Wasteland and it was over.

WINNER: Barrett, at 2:34. I don’t understand how Slater lasted longer against Sheamus than Gabriel against Barrett. I thought Gabriel may have been in for a mini-push. I was sure we were going to see an ad break during this one.

3 – AJ & KAITLYN vs. NATALYA & BETH PHOENIX

Kaitlyn was suckered in by Nattie, who choked Kaitlyn in the ropes. Cheap shot by Beth. Beth tagged in and she and Nattie took Kaitlyn down with a double suplex. Headbutts to the gut created separation by Kaitlyn. AJ then tagged in and avoided a Beth charge. Running clothesline by AJ, then a dropkick to the leg of Beth. Shining Wizard and a pin was broken up by Nattie. Kaitlyn took her out, but Beth countered AJ and landed the Glam Slam.

WINNERS: Natalya and Phoenix, at 2:03. When a Diva needs a victory, AJ and Kaitlyn seem to be the go-to duo to get it done. They also seem to be the only ones Beth and Natalya can beat.

4 – RANDY ORTON vs. CODY RHODES

Cody was, of course, flanked by his bag man. They showed clips of Rhodes beating Orton on Raw Supershow two weeks ago. Rhodes was immediately thrown to the outside, but Rhodes took over by going to the injured knee of Orton. Orton regained control in the ring, but again, Rhodes went after the knee. I’m sure Booker will tell us what bone that’s connected to. Rhodes took Booker down and wrapped the injured knee across the ring post. Rhodes then removed the turnbuckle pad from the turnbuckle. Referee John Cone audibly admonished Rhodes and put the pad back on. Rhodes took his mask off and belted Orton across the face with it. Cover only got two. The ref ordered that Rhodes put the mask back on. He did so and went to kick Orton, but Orton caught the leg. He took Rhodes’ mask off and hit him with it, drawing a disqualification.

WINNER: Rhodes, via DQ, at 3:17. Another match that went much shorter than I expected.

Orton continued beating Rhodes with the mask. Orton connected on his trademark DDT. Another referee came out to try to talk some sense into Orton. Orton picked Rhodes back up and tossed him to ringside. Orton went out and grabbed the ring bell. He rang it several times then assaulted Rhodes with it. Orton began to dismantle the announce table. Rhodes was bleeding but had a towel with him. Orton gave Rhodes an RKO on the announce table…and it didn’t break. Rhodes must have been bleeding a lot (they never really showed it), because it was all over Orton. Upon replay, you could see Cody gushing right after Orton hit him with the bell.

5 – THE GREAT KHALI vs. JINDER MAHAL

Khali was back to his happy fun smile-time Khali music. During Mahal’s entrance, they showed what happened last week when Mahal interfered during Khali’s match. Mahal went after Khali, but Khali took Mahal down with a shot to the head. Hard chop to the chest in the corner by Khali. Mahal escaped more of Khali’s wrath by sliding under the bottom rope. Back in, a kick to the knee and a DDT got Mahal a two-count on a pin. Front face-lock by Mahal. Khali broke free and clotheslined Mahal a few times. Right hand to Mahal’s noggin. Big Tree Slam by Khali, and in a frightening moment, he almost fell forward onto Mahal. He put his foot on Mahal’s chest for the win.

WINNER: Khali, at 2:06. That felt like a write-off for Mahal. And no, I’m not talking about I.R.S’ finisher.

6 – SIN CARA vs. DANIEL BRYAN

This appeared to be the Mistico Sin Cara. Cole said the WWE Universe is split 50/50, based on a WWE.com vote, as to which is the real Sin Cara. They also showed clips of last week’s Smackdown and this week’s Raw, as it pertains to the Sin Cara face-offs. The two men shook hands to start, then Bryan took Cara down with a headlock take-over. Bryan bridged out of a headscissors, then put Cara up in a surfboard. Back and forth action, then a springboard cross-body. Booker again gave the “mark on the black boot” speech and said this was the Cara in his Fave Five. Mathews pointed out that Booker said the fake one had the black mark last week. Handspring elbow by Cara which seemed to fall short. Cara jumped off the apron and took Bryan down with a hurricanrana. As Cara went ot the top rope, the fake Sin Cara ran out and pushed the other to ringside. The second Sin Cara went off the top and landed a Swanton Bomb for the win.

WINNER: Cara, at 3:07. That was like a messed up version of the Bellas’ Twin Magic.

7 – AIR BOOM vs. THE USOS

A shake of the hands by one of the Usos and Evan to start things. Some early double-teaming by Jimmy and Jey, and some quick tags to go with it. Sledge across the chest of Evan as he laid across the knee of the other. Butt splash in the corner followed. Rear chinlock by Uso as Kofi tried to get the fans behind them. Bourne quickened the pace to break free and both men were down. Usos made the tag, as did Bourne at 2:10. Kingston hit his signature moves, including a cross-body off the top. Trouble in Paradise, but a distraction led to the legal Uso nailing Kofi with a superkick for two. Kofi countered another double-team move into…something that took one of the Usos out. Trouble in Paradise, then the Shooting Star Press by Bourne.

WINNERS: Air Boom, at 3:32. I’d like to see a long-form feud between these two teams. With Miz and Truth out of the picture so quickly, Air Boom could use some quality opponents.

8 – CHRISTIAN vs. MARK HENRY – WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH

Cole said this is a “statement match” for Henry. Henry took Christian down right off the tie-up. Rear waist-lock by Christian, but Henry simply backed Christian into the corner. Chest-first into the buckle went Christian. Christian dodged a clothesline, but Henry grabbed him and threw Christian over the top. Ezekiel Jackson, one of the superstars Christian approached backstage, waved off the Lumberjacks near him…only to knee Christian in the mid-section himself. Back in, Henry applied a nerve hold. Christian created some separation and tried to springboard off the second rope, but landed right in the arms of Henry for a bear-hug. Henry released the move and missed a corner charge. Right hands from Christian, but a clothesline did nothing. A second, still nothing. Dropkick off the second rope caused Henry to teeter, and a dropkick off the top finally felled the big man at 4:25 of the match. Christian went for the Killswitch, to no avail. Henry clobbered Christian for two. Christian attempted a springboard sunset flip, but Henry missed a butt drop. The fight went to the outside, where Christian was pulled out. The entire roster of superstars went after Henry, and he managed to shrug them off. He picked Trent Barreta over his head and tossed him onto a host of other wrestlers. Great Khali was left standing on one side and the crowd chanted for him, but it was not to be. Christian tried to leave, but Sheamus grabbed him, tossed him into the ring, and Henry gave him the World’s Strongest Slam.

WINNER: Henry, at 6:21.

Randy Orton ran out to get him some of Henry. They exchanged blows in the ring. RKO attempt failed, but Orton dropkicked Henry out of the ring. Orton’s music played as he stared at Henry from the ring. At ringside, Henry held the title over his head.

Ring of Honor TV Results: 9-24-11

Due to coincidental timing being in San Antonio this weekend, I was able to review the debut episode of ROH's syndicated TV series under the Sinclair Broadcasting banner. ROH TV airs at 9:00 p.m. CST on Saturday nights on the MyNetworkTV affiliate in S.A.

1 -- FUTURE SHOCK (KYLE O'REILLY & ADAM COLE) vs. THE BRAVADO BROTHERS

After ring introductions and a look at the Tale of the Tape to add more color to the match-up, Nigel discussed each team's background and what they bring to the table. The match started with some multiple-man spots trying to get the crowd involved early on. Kelly noted the audience will learn a little more about ROH each week with various "Inside ROH" features. Mid-match, Kelly introduced a "Tweet of the Week" that was obviously selected to brand ROH as the 2011 version of pro wrestling, not 1990s mainstream wrestling. A professional-looking graphic accompanied the Twitter reference, as well.

The crowd quieted down as the teams went through a sequence of overly-choreographed moves. They reinvested when Future Shock "won" the sequence before splashing the Bravados on the floor. Back in the ring, Future Shock executed a double-team sequence for the pin and the win. They went to a replay of the finish before showing the two team adhering to the Code of Honor with a post-match handshake.

WINNERS: Future Shock at 7:25. Good opening match to begin the Sinclair Era and establish Future Shock as a top tag team in the promotion.

The second-half of the show started with clips from Best in the World 2011 showcasing a four-team elimination match for the ROH Tag Titles that concluded with Haas & Benjamin retaining the ROH Tag Titles with a final pinfall over Kings of Wrestling. This was followed by the Briscoes KO'ing the tag champions as the Kings just watched.

2 -- ROH tag champions CHARLIE HAAS & SHELTON BENJAMIN vs. KINGS OF WRESTLING (CHRIS HERO & CLAUDIO CASTAGNOLI w/Shane Hagadorn and Sara Del Rey) -- ROH Tag Title match

Back from break, Kelly noted there was no Code of Honor since the teams dislike each other so much. After the bell sounded, they cut to a Tale of the Tape to compare the two teams. Basic feeling-out process to begin the match, then a stalemate leading to the final commercial break. Kelly did a solid job stressing the importance of staying tuned after a two-minute commercial.

Back from break, the Kings worked over Shelton to frustrate Haas, who begged for a tag. Haas eventually took a hot tag and scored a nearfall on Claudio. Nigel called for Haas to finish off Claudio, but a big boot couldn't put Claudio away. The two teams went back to trading offense before Haas and Shelton finished off Hero with World's Greatest Finisher. After a replay, Kelly said the Briscoes await the tag champs. The show concluded with the champs celebrating the victory.

WINNERS: Haas & Benjamin at 15:28 to retain the ROH Tag Titles. Solid main event not trying to be a five-star match, but giving newer viewers a very nice sample of what ROH offers in the ring and in their tag division, which was stressed this week.

Next week: TV champion El Generico vs. Jay Lethal.

WWE RAW Results: 9-26-11

- Triple H started the show, explained why he fired R-Truth and The Miz, fined Mark Henry $250k and had three wrestlers whine about unfair life is in the WWE...

1 -- IC TITLE MATCH BATTLE ROYAL

Rhodes, Daniel Bryan, Sin Cara, Ezekiel Jackson, Morrison, Gabriel, Riley, DiBiase, Sheamus, and McIntyre in the ring here. Mac was gone in 18 seconds after Rhodes bailed from the ring. Suddenly, the other Sin Cara yanked the other one out of the ring and Bryan tossed him out of the ring. Rhodes re-entered the ring and DiBiase quickly went after his rival. The big men and Rhodes were eventually left in the ring after clearing out the mid-sized wrestlers. It was Sheamus, Zeke, DiBiase, and Rhodes in the Final Four. Sheamus took Zeke apart, then Rhodes eliminated DiBiase. Cody was nearly eliminated, but Cody yanked Zeke over the top rope. So, it was Sheamus vs. Rhodes. The crowd rallied behind Sheamus, who teased the Celtic Cross, but Christian came down to ringside to distract Sheamus. Sheamus was nearly eliminated, but avoided a mask shot from Rhodes. Christian distracted Sheamus again, though, and Rhodes smashed Sheamus with the mask to eliminate him for the win.

Post-match: Cole heeled on Triple H's decision-making before Christian rammed Sheamus into the ringpost. He screamed down at Sheamus to see how it feels to be cost a title in WWE, blaming Sheamus for costing him the World Title on Smackdown. Sheamus sold a left shoulder injury as Christian walked away. The announcers then plugged Del Rio vs. Punk tonight.

WINNER: Rhodes at 4:33 to retain the IC Title.

2 -- Divas champion KELLY KELLY & EVE vs. BETH PHOENIX & NATALYA

Standard match with Eve being worked over, Kelly with the hot tag, a close fall for Kelly, but Beth finished her off with the Glam Slam for the win.

WINNERS: Beth & Natalya at 3:15. Beth needed a victory to retain credibility, so this was fine to keep her in the title picture without Kelly having to take a singles loss.

World Hvt. champion MARK HENRY vs. GREAT KHALI -- non-title match

In-ring: Henry was in the ring back from break before Great Khali's music hit. Odd not seeing anyone accompany Khali, who gingerly made his way to the ring as Henry stewed in the ring. Khali turned his back to pose for the crowd, allowing Henry to jump him from behind. Henry talked trash before delivering the World's Strongest Slam to Khali. Henry, satisfied with his work, left the ring and talked trash to the fans ringside.

WINNER: No Match. More solid build-up for Henry - giving him a "feat of strength" bodyslamming Khali - in advance of his title defense against Orton at HIAC.

- Cena hyped up Hell in a Cell, Del Rio and C.M. Punk were guest commentators (Punk complete with announcer's jacket). Yep, you know where this was going to go...

3 -- WWE champion JOHN CENA vs. CHRISTIAN -- non-title match

Cena was quickly on the offensive with a high back-body drop. Christian then cut off Cena when Cena distracted himself with the men ringside. Del Rio and Punk went back-and-forth on commentary promoting their match before Cena made his comeback in the ring. Suddenly, Christian bailed to the outside and Cena shoved him over the announce table. Del Rio cheap-shotted Punk in the chaos before Cena brought Christian back into the ring. Del Rio also entered the ring and popped Cena with an enziguiri for the DQ.

Post-match: Punk chased Del Rio out of the ring. Del Rio then took a mic on-stage and told everyone he's the only one coming out of Hell in a Cell alive. He told off everyone, then dropped the mic. Cena and Punk stood their ground in the ring before the announcers plugged Del Rio vs. Punk still to come tonight.

WINNER: Cena via DQ at 3:15. Just not much here. Del Rio and Punk had a forced exchange on commentary and the match was thrown out there to give Del Rio and Punk a forum to argue.

4 -- U.S. champion DOLPH ZIGGLER (w/Vickie Guerrero and Jack Swagger) vs. ZACK RYDER -- U.S. Title match

After the video rolled to bring the audience up-to-speed on Ryder, the bell sounded and Ziggler quickly took out his frustration on Ryder. Ziggler worked over Ryder as the announcers bickered, with Cole trying to start drama with Ross. Ryder then made a comeback and teased the Rough Ryder, but Swagger yanked Ryder throat-first across the top rope as Vickie had the ref distracted. Swagger actually helping Ziggler led to the Zig-Zag for the pin and the win.

WINNER: Ziggler at 2:01 to retain the U.S. Title.

Post-match: Ziggler and Vickie celebrated the U.S. Title victory before Ziggler and Swagger shook hands, showing they're on the same team. Vickie instructed them to inflict more punishment on Ryder, but Air Boom stormed the ring to make the save. As the dust settled, Smackdown GM Teddy Long came out on-stage. He said they're going to have themselves a six-man tag match after the break, giving Vickie three minutes to find someone as their partner. Long said if Vickie can't find someone else, then it will be a handicap match. After protesting with screams & shrieks, Vickie ran to the back as they cut to break.

5 -- U.S. champion DOLPH ZIGGLER & JACK SWAGGER (w/Vickie Guerrero) vs. ZACK RYDER & WWE tag champions AIR BOOM (EVAN BOURNE & KOFI KINGSTON) -- handicap match

The announcers said Bourne is reading a book on longevity and he wants to live until he's 150 years-old. Why did he get into the wrestling business, then? The heels isolated Bourne as Cole decided to heel on Ryder's YouTube show to fill time. Bourne broke free of Swagger at 3:15 and hot-tagged Kofi, who dropped "Swags," according to Booker, with a high cross-body before delivering ten punches in the corner.

Suddenly, Vickie emerged on-stage with Mason Ryan, who had been working as a face. Ryan hopped on the ring apron to stand next to Ziggler as the faces worked over Swagger. Ryder then tagged in and Swagger took his head off with a clothesline. Swagger walked over to his corner to tag in Ryan, who teased going after Ryder before destroying Swagger and Ziggler. Vickie screamed as Ryan smiled and left the ring. Ziggler was alone in the ring for Ryder to deliver the Rough Ryder. Ryder with the pin as they cut to a shot of Ryan smiling on the entrance ramp.

Post-match: Vickie pointed to Ryan that she'll get him. Vickie screamed as the faces celebrated in the ring. They went to a replay of Ryan turning on his temporary tag partners before showing the finish. Back live, Vickie screamed at Ziggler for screwing up as Swagger just stood his ground. Swagger then helped up Ziggler to drag him to the back.

WINNERS: Ryder & Bourne & Kofi at 6:29. A roundabout way to give Ryder another win over Ziggler and apparently begin a face push for Ryan on Raw after a reintroduction on Superstars.

6 -- C.M. PUNK vs. ALBERTO DEL RIO

The match quickly moved to the outside and Punk sent Del Rio flying over the announce table near Cena. Ross called it a brushback pitch like in baseball. Cena stood up to glare at Punk, who saluted him before throwing Del Rio back into the ring. Punk kept his eyes on Cena, then returned to the ring and took a wicked kick from Del Rio. Del Rio maintained control of the match as Cena watched quietly and intently following the exchange near the announce table. They cut to break with Punk selling on the floor on the opposite side of the ring.

Back live, they showed Punk fighting out of a reverse chinlock mid-ring. Cena was still intently watching the monitor as Del Rio maintained control of Punk. Suddenly, Del Rio went flying to the outside after missing with a dropkick. Ross effectively noted that's not possible inside HIAC on Sunday since there's nowhere to run or hide. Back in the ring, Del Rio walked into a dropkick from Punk for a two count. Cena stressed the importance of this match to build momentum for Sunday as the two men went back-and-forth with close nearfalls before Del Rio resumed control.

As Raw hit the top of the hour, Del Rio went for the cross arm-breaker, but Punk blasted him with a kick strike to the side of the head. Punk made the cover and it was good for the win, seemingly out of nowhere based on the sequence of the match.

WINNER: Punk at 12:01.

Post-match: The Cell started to lower from the ceiling. Cena got up from the announce table and dragged Ricardo inside the structure. Ricardo tried to escape, but he took a G2S, then AA from Punk and Cena, respectively. Punk then tried a G2S on Cena, but Cena slipped out and tried an AA, but Punk slipped out. Suddenly, Del Rio blasted both men with a chair shot from behind. Del Rio continued to take apart the faces with chair shot blows as the announcers stressed Del Rio is back on-track after losing the WWE Title at Night of Champions. Del Rio's music played as he stared down both men and talked trash. The camera stayed on a close shot of Del Rio as a graphic for HIAC this Sunday flashed on the screen. It was followed by the copyrights as Del Rio continued to talk trash to close the show three minutes past the top of the hour.

WWE NXT Redemption Results: 9-27-11

1 -- YOSHI TATSU vs. JINDER MAHAL

Korpela added some context to the match that Mahal defeated Yoshi in two minutes in his first WWE TV match. Mahal controlled the action and the crowd figured out Yoshi was the face, so they rallied behind him. Regal cracked a joke that he knows Mahal's uncle, who is a Karaoke champion named "Getupto Singh." Mahal continued an aggressive attack before taking Yoshi up top for a superplex, but Yoshi blocked and airballed a spin kick from the top rope. Mahal called for the end and delivered an emphatic slam out of the full nelson position for the pin and the win.

WINNER: Mahal at 6:09. Unless Mahal is going to become a regular on NXT, it's questionable for Yoshi to take the loss here. Of course, this is NXT.

2 -- PERCY WATSON vs. TYSON KIDD

Kidd completely dominated early on with aggressive kick strikes and submission holds. "C'mon, ask him!" Kidd shouted toward the ref. Watson made a comeback as Regal noted Watson could be a big deal in WWE if someone took him under his or her wing. Moments later, Watson lost control and Kidd nailed a springboard elbow drop clear across the ring for the pin and the win.

WINNER: Kidd at 3:53. Impressive win for Kidd, if matters on NXT.

3 -- THE USOS vs. DARREN YOUNG & JTG

At the beginning of the match, Korpela brought up JTG being part of a "successful tag team" earlier in his career, and added an interesting point that they never held tag titles in WWE. Regal was surprised and Korpela said most people believe they held tag gold before. JTG and Young took control of the match going to break.

Back from break, JTG and Young retained control of the match. Jimmy fought back and tried to shake off the heel team's work on his back, but Young rammed him into the ringpost to focus on the back again. Jimmy eventually scored with a Samoan Drop to break free and make the hot tag to Jey. After a nearfall in Jey's favor, the action broke down. Young tried to put away Jey with his gutbuster, but Jey blocked, superkicked him, and tagged in Jimmy for the Superfly Splash. It was good for the pin on Young for the win.

WINNERS: Usos at 11:37. Even-Steven match booking with Young & JTG dominating before the Usos picked up the win. Usos back on track.

Post-match: Out of nowhere, Tyler Reks and Curt Hawkins stormed the ringside area to drop the Usos. Korpela said the tag division is exploding on NXT and you can't take your eyes off the ball. Hawkins and Reks backed away from the Usos with cocky smiles to conclude the show.

WWE Smackdown Results: 9-30-11

1 – MARK HENRY vs. THE GREAT KHALI

Oh joy, I can own Khali’s theme music on the latest WWE record release! Khali went after Henry aggressively to start, knocking him off-balance briefly, but Henry fired back. Clothesline by Khali sent Henry to the mat. Khali cornered Henry and chopped him in the chest. Henry fought back from a knee, but Khali nailed him with two chops, the first one not even knocking him off his feet. A pin attempt only got two at 1:16. Henry lifted Khali off his feet and drove him into the corner. Headbutts by Henry, then a big splash. A second one only registered him a two-count. Khali took Henry by the throat, but Henry kicked Khali in the legs to break it. World’s Strongest Slam for three.

WINNER: Henry, at 2:51. Some impressive power displays by Henry.

Henry went to ringside after the match and grabbed a chair. He re-entered the ring with it and hit Khali and the arm. He set Khali up to Pillmanize the ankle, and did so, splashing the chair. A trainer came in to check on Khali as the big man writhed in pain on the mat. A number of referees joined in as well. They began to put Khali’s ankle in an air cast as Henry left the ringside area.

2 – EVAN BOURNE vs. JACK SWAGGER

They showed highlights of the six-man (or five-man) tag match from this past Monday during Swagger’s entrance. Kofi Kingston came out with Evan, and Vickie Guerrero and Dolph Ziggler both accompanied Swagger to the ring. Swagger went on offense first, and hit a back suplex for a one-count 30 seconds into the match. Bourne fought out of a rest-hold, but Swagger countered Bourne’s high-impact offense by giving him a sidewalk slam. Vader Bomb failed, as Bourne got his feet up. Signature offense by Bourne short of 2:00. After a near-fall, Vickie got on the apron to distract the referee. Ziggler interfered and brought Bourne down throat-first over the top rope. Swagger tried his finisher, but Bourne hit a knee to the face. Kofi Kingston attacked Ziggler at ringside. Vickie then interfered, knocking Bourne off the top rope. Swagger hooked in the ankle-lock for the tap-out win.

WINNER: Swagger, at 2:33. Too much going on in this match once again. The constant interference has hampered this little mini-feud.

3 – SIN CARA vs. HEATH SLATER

It was the original Cara, to start at least. I wonder how long I’ll have to type that to clarify. Cara did a springboard and basically tossed his body at Slater. Kick to the head, then a Swanton bomb by Cara and that got the win.

WINNER: Cara, at :43. The “real” Cara hasn’t gotten much traction of late, with the “fake” one taking the win last week and his spot in the Battle Royal on Monday, so this was a necessary back-to-business win.

The fake Cara was on the TitanTron after the match. It was a close-up, and he took off his Cara mask, revealing a different one underneath – it was black, pin and a little blue. The fake Cara said Cara once stole his identity as “Mistico” and now he’s doing the same to him. He said we’d find out Sunday who will be truly worthy of being known as “Sin Cara.”

4 – KELLY KELLY vs. NATALYA

Beth Phoenix was on headsets for this one. Natalya was already in the ring. Kelly hit a Thesz Press off the second rope, but Nattie came back with a clothesline. Nattie tied Kelly’s arm up while applying a rear chin-lock. Kelly fought out and was then slammed down by her hair. Kelly climbed on Nattie’s shoulders and got a victory roll for the win.

WINNER: Kelly, at 1:25. Didn’t even really give Beth much time to expound on what the losses to Kelly have done to her and whether or not Kelly has her “number.”

Beth attacked after the match and put Kelly down with the Glam Slam. Nattie then locked Kelly in the leg-hold she used Monday night. Kelly screamed in agony into the mic that Beth had and Beth said that’s the sound Kelly will make on Sunday when she takes the title from the “undeserving, screaming little Barbie Doll.”

5 – CODY RHODES vs. SHEAMUS – INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP

Sheamus shoved Cody down after a lock-up, but Cody took advantage in the corner. Sheamus countered and took Rhodes to the mat with forearms to the mat. After the first pin try 45 seconds in, Rhodes went to ringside. He came back in and fell victim to a back body-drop. Cody brought Sheamus arm-first across the top rope, then hit his springboard kick to the head. He tried to get something going as they went to break at 2:26.

The show returned at 5:56. Sheamus was working out of a rest-hold as Booker said he hoped Sheamus would “beat the dust off of” Rhodes. Dropkick by Rhodes, lateral press for two. Rhodes choked Sheamus with his boot. Cole and the announcers used this time to discuss Triple H’s effectiveness as COO. Rhodes kept Sheamus down with a wrist-lock. Rhodes made a mistake just shy of 10:00 in when he ended up ramming himself shoulder-first into the ring post. Sheamus began to build momentum and connected with a knee-lift. He went to the top and nailed Cody with a flying shoulder tackle. It got two at 10:34. Another near-fall followed soon after. As Sheamus got Rhodes up for the Irish Cross, Christian ran out and attacked Sheamus, causing the DQ.

WINNER: Sheamus, via DQ, at 11:38. Not a satisfying ending, but it makes sense in the storyline that Christian would continually interfere to cost Sheamus a title, especially if there are no consequences in doing so. Christian told a fallen Sheamus that Sheamus cost him the World Title, now he’s returning the favor.

6 – ZACK RYDER vs. JTG

Cole plugged NXT with the rare Smackdown appearance of JTG. Swinging neckbreaker by JTG, followed by some mocking of Ryder. JTG put Ryder up for a suplex and brought him down with a neck-breaker. Ryder got stuck in a rear chin-lock, but eventually worked out and got his knees up on a JTG charge. Ryder began a comeback and white-washed JTG with a kick in the corner. Cover got two. “Are you serious, bro?” he asked the ref on the near-fall. Rough Ryder leg lariat out of nowhere for the win.

WINNER: Ryder, at 2:55. Not much to complain about here.

7 – CHRISTIAN vs. RANDY ORTON

Some back and forth action early on, then a dropkick off the second rope. Christian had the advantage as they went to break at 2:50.

Back at 6:18 with Christian in control. Inverted DDT by Christian for two. Orton came back with a Thesz Press, but his offense was short-lived. Back to the chin-lock for Christian. Orton fought back again at 9:26, trading blows with his opponent. High dropkick that almost overshot a charging Christian. Orton punched at the skull of Christian in the corner. Flip kick by Christian in the corner, then Orton gave him a back-breaker. Christian missed a cross-body, and Christian countered with a back suplex. He set up for the spear at 12:26. The move found the mark, but Orton kicked out. Killswitch attempt, but Orton found his way out of it, then finally connected on the rope-assisted DDT. Orton set up for the RKO, but Christian ran out of the ring. Orton ran up the ramp after him and gave him an uppercut and a kick. Orton dished out more punishment, throwing Christian into the ringside steps. The ref counted both men out as Orton continued to stalk Christian at ringside.

WINNER: Double count-out, at 14:22.

Orton began to dismantle the announce table. No official announcement on the result of the match yet, as far as the ring announcer goes. Orton set Christian up on the table, but out ran Cody Rhodes. Orton saw him and jumped him, but Christian knocked Orton from behind. Springboard kick by Rhodes, using the apron to assist him. Christian, suddenly full of energy and life, and Rhodes attacked Orton in the ring. Sheamus ran out to make the save, giving Rhodes the Brogue Kick. He chased Christian through the crowd. As he did this, Mark Henry’s music hit. He walked to the ring with a purpose, but Orton greeted him with right hands. Henry dodged an RKO and hit the World’s Strongest Slam. Just when it appeared Henry was done, he got a steel chair from ringside for the second time tonight. As Henry entered the ring, Orton RKO’d Henry. Part of me feels like they should save that for Hell in a Cell, but with Orton standing tall here, it gives me more confidence that Henry will win Sunday. Orton celebrated as his music played while Henry recovered at ringside.

WWE Hell In A Cell PPV Results: 10-2-11 (next two posts)

1 -- CHRISTIAN vs. SHEAMUS

After the bell sounded, the announcers debated whether Laurinaitis has the right to remove Miz and Truth if they had tickets, prompting Cole to say the "promoter" has discretion to eliminate fans. When was the last time "promoter" was used on WWE TV? Christian tried to play mouse to Sheamus's cat early on, trying to frustrate and anger Sheamus. Christian got the best of the exchange and began wearing down Sheamus. Sheamus tried to make various comebacks, but couldn't maintain momentum, selling the effects of Christian's work. Christian tried to finish off Sheamus with a Tornado DDT, but Sheamus kicked out of a pin attempt. Sheamus came back with a knee lift, then went up top for a flying shoulder tackle. The crowd got fired up with Sheamus now firmly in control. He called for the end, which allowed Christian to avoid a Brogue Kick. The action moved to the floor, where Christian avoided a catapult and delivered the Spear.

Sheamus avoided a ten count by re-entering at eight, so Christian landed another hard spear mid-ring. Sheamus kicked out, though, frustrating Christian. Christian tried to follow with a top-rope move, but Sheamus moved. They teased finishers, then Christian missed with a third Spear and crashed into the turnbuckle. Christian turned around and stumbled into the Brogue Kick, giving Sheamus the pin and the win.

WINNER: Sheamus at 13:41. Nice, competitive match to start the PPV. Christian can spin the loss coming out of the PPV, while Sheamus picked up a solid singles victory to likely set up a title run at Henry. (**1/4)

2 -- SIN CARA vs. SIN CARA
 
As the two men circled the ring, Cole recapped that Sin Cara was injured at Money in the Bank in July, then they thought he returned a month later, but it turned out to be the imposter stealing his identity. Cole also referenced Sin Cara's background as a top draw in Mexico. Lots of early counters and high-flying before the real Sin Cara cleared the faker to the outside and delivered a flip dive splash. Faker then took control and they reversed the sequence leading to black & silver delivering a flip dive splash. The crowd was not into this, of note. B&S Sin Cara became frustrated when he was unable to put away original Cara. The crowd then moved to restlessness, leading to the two men picking up the pace. Original Cara landed a big splash on the outside that momentarily popped the crowd before they returned to the ring. The two men traded control again before original Cara countered a powerbomb into a victory roll for the pin and the win. Now we can end Michael Cole's attempt to botch the Spanish language.
 
WINNER: Original Cara at 9:46. Tough match. The crowd wasn't into the story or match and the spots were hit & miss. WWE has to go back to the drawing board on the Sin Cara character. (*)

3 -- WWE tag champions AIR BOOM (EVAN BOURNE & KOFI KINGSTON) vs. U.S. champion DOLPH ZIGGLER & JACK SWAGGER (w/Vickie Guerrero) -- WWE Tag Title match
 
The face tag champions took control early on, drawing early screams from Vickie. Swagger then cut off the smaller Bourne to begin working him over. Ziggler lost control when he missed with a corner splash, then Kofi tagged into the match. Kofi quickly lost control, though, when he spilled to the outside via nefarious activity by the heels. As the heels worked over Kingston, Cole began ranting against Triple H. He said Ziggler and Swagger have been put in terrible situations since they spoke out against Hunter. So, being granted a Tag Title shot is being put in a terrible position?
 
Bourne eventually took a hot tag and cleaned house on the heels before delivering a flying double knee smash for a close two count. Bourne followed with a standing moonsault for a two count. The action broke down moments later and Bourne found himself in trouble coming out of the scrap. The heels then attempted a top-rope powerbomb combination, but Bourne countered on Swagger with a huracanrana. Kingston then yanked Dolph out of the ring as Bourne scored a quick three for the win. Vickie was shocked into silence. After a replay, she unleashed her inner rage with a verbal assault on Swagger.
 
WINNERS: Bourne & Kingston at 11:20 to retain the Tag Titles. Solid tag match. Not particularly memorable, though, in what amounted to an extended version of what would normally air on TV. (**)

4 -- World Hvt. champion MARK HENRY vs. RANDY ORTON -- World Title match -- Hell in a Cell match
 
Orton tried to be the aggressor early on, but Henry cut him off and the two men traded control. Henry then began a slow, methodical attack on Orton outside of the ring, using the Cell as a weapon. Henry then tried to toss the ring steps into Orton's face, but Orton moved out of the way and the steps crashed into the wall. Henry went back on the attack, trying to make Orton cry uncle. Orton ran back into the ring to catch a breather, then kicked out of an early World's Strongest Slam from Henry.
 
Moments later, Henry tried a World's Strongest Slam on the ring steps on the floor, but Orton grabbed the Cell wall to avoid before dropping Henry into the steps. The crowd popped for the comeback. Back in the ring, Orton delivered a DDT before teasing the RKO. And he connected. Orton made the cover, but Henry kicked out, drawing gasps from the crowd. Orton, stunned, tried to regroup before going for The Punt, but Henry countered with the World's Strongest Slam. Henry with the pin for the win.
 
Post-match: Henry left the ring with the title belt, but then returned to the ringside area to find a chair under the ring. Henry delivered a World's Strongest Slam, then placed Orton's foot inside the chair as Cole rattled off the names of wrestlers Henry has injured. Henry went for a big splash, but Orton was able to avoid at the last second. The crowd popped as Orton picked up the chair and jabbed it into Henry's gut before delivering a chair shot to the back. Orton then chased Henry up the entrance ramp with multiple chair shots to the back. Orton tried a final blow, but Henry kicked him away and left.
 
WINNER: Henry at 15:59 to retain the World Title. Expected finish and expected basic use of the Cell structure during the match. The post-match allowed Orton to save face and keeps him in the title picture going into Vengeance. (Are you shocked the Hell in a Cell match didn't resolve the issue and was merely a bridge to the next match?) (**)

5 -- Intercontinental champion CODY RHODES vs. JOHN MORRISON -- IC Title match
 
Rhodes, in street clothes and nice shoes, tried to duck Morrison early on before Morrison scored some early nearfalls. Rhodes made his way to the outside to remove his fancy dress shirt, but Morrison tossed it into the crowd. Rhodes tried to walk away, but Morrison grabbed him and tried to throw him back into the ring. Rhodes blocked, then Rhodes clutched the ringpost to attempt to get counted out, but Morrison threw him back into the ring. Rhodes then cut off Morrison, who took the bait. Rhodes tried a figure-four leglock, which drew a few whoos from the crowd, but Morrison escaped. Morrison and Rhodes went back and forth before Morrison landed a Pele kick that Ross called by name. Rhodes kicked out, then rolled up Morrison for a quick three count for the win.
 
WINNER: Rhodes at 7:20 to retain the IC Title. Another downer for Morrison, who was unable to put away a wrestler in street clothes. Meanwhile, Rhodes continues to thwart obstacles put in his way to build some credibility. (*1/4)

6 -- Divas champion KELLY KELLY (w/Eve) vs. BETH PHOENIX (w/Natalya) -- Divas Title match
 
Beth and Natalya were out first for the next title match on what has turned into Night of Champions II, with the only title not defended tonight being the U.S. Title, but the U.S. champion was in the Tag Title match. Once the bell sounded, Beth acted like this would be an easy win, so Kelly popped her in the mouth with a forearm, which angered Beth. Beth dominated and continued to be frustrated when Kelly escaped pinfalls. It looked like the other title matches, but, this time, Natalya interfered behind the ref's back to allow Phoenix to hit the Glam Slam on Kelly for the win. They stayed with Beth's post-match victory moment for a while.
 
WINNER: Phoenix at 8:32 to capture the Divas Title. Classic heel story of Beth being frustrated by Kelly so many times that she resorted to interference to capture the title. It also gave Kelly an "out" and set up the re-match. Unlike the match in Buffalo two weeks ago, the crowd wasn't interested in this one.
 
7 -- WWE champion JOHN CENA vs. ALBERTO DEL RIO vs. C.M. PUNK -- three-way WWE Title match -- Hell in a Cell match
 
Everyone got their time in the spotlight with the three men trading control of the action early on. The crowd came to life with a "Let's Go Cena / Cena Sucks" dueling chant during this opening sequence. The closest they came to blood was Punk coming up halfway bleeding from his back after Del Rio shoved him off the ring steps into the side of the Cell. More exchanges trading control before Del Rio introduced a chair into the proceedings to smash Punk and Cena with chair shots to the back. Del Rio then went up top for a senton splash and connected to Punk's back. Suddenly, Cena dropped Punk with the Attitude Adjustment, but Del Rio broke up the pin. Punk then delivered the G2S to Cena, but Del Rio yanked Punk out of the ring. Del Rio back in control. That didn't last long, as Punk cut off Del Rio and landed a Macho Man elbow drop from the top rope for a two count. Punk then wanted a top-rope elbow on Cena, but Del Rio shoved Punk off the top through a table set up ringside earlier.
 
Back in the ring, Cena dropped Del Rio to the mat with the STF. On the outside, though, Ricardo managed to KO the ref, unlock the cage, and enter the cage, which allowed Del Rio to break free when Cena was distracted. Cena then dropped Ricardo with the AA on the floor, but Del Rio popped Cena with a steel pipe introduced by Ricardo and locked Cena out of the cage. Back in the Cell, Del Rio and Punk battled one-on-one as Cena continued to sell on the floor outside the Cell. Cena then came to life and realized the door was locked. Ricardo didn't have the key, though, as Del Rio kept it. Cena tried to bust open the door, but it wouldn't budge. Del Rio then taunted Cena from inside the cage before returning to the ring to pop Punk in the face with the pipe. Del Rio made the cover and it was good for the win to re-capture the WWE Title.
 
WINNER: Del Rio at 24:10 to capture the WWE Title. Okay main event. It had its moments, but not PPV main event-worthy. As for the finish, they did everything they could to distract from Del Rio winning the title and Cena losing the title based on the post-match. It didn't even seem like the crowd really realized what happened and it's just another nail in the coffin for the value of WWE's top title. (**1/2)
 
Post-match: Cena stormed the Cell once it began to be raised to attack Del Rio, but Miz and R-Truth entered the Cell to jump Cena. Laurinaitis and Triple H then ran down to restore order, but the Cell was re-lowered to the ground. They checked with the production team, but they lost control. The entire locker room and security ran down to the Cell as Miz and Truth began assaulting referees and cameramen inside the Cell. Eventually, someone with bolt cutters stormed the ring to cut open the Cell and allow police to arrest Miz and Truth. Booker said they need Street Justice here. As Miz was being taken away, Triple H teed off on Miz. He shoved down Laurinaitis before WWE security pulled Hunter away. Anarchy on the outside. Miz and Truth were eventually hauled off to the back as Hunter sold anger. The credits came on the screen at 10:38 p.m. EST as they faded out.

WWE RAW Results: 10-3-11 (next two posts)

1 – RANDY ORTON vs. DREW MCINTYRE

Poor McIntyre didn’t get an entrance. I’m guessing he’ll last a tad longer than he did in the battle royal last week. During Orton’s entrance, they showed stills from his match last night against Mark Henry. McIntyre got the early advantage, but Orton shot out of the corner with a clothesline. Cole promised exclusive footage showing what happened after the PPV went off the air last night. European uppercut, then a dropkick by Orton that sent McIntyre to ringside. Orton went after him and tossed him into the barricade. He then led McIntyre into the barricade on the opposite side of the ring as well. Back in the ring, the referee admonished Orton, leading to McIntyre booting Orton in the face. He continued the onslaught as Orton attempted to protect himself. Snap suplex by McIntyre for a near-fall at 2:40. Orton fought back and pounded away at McIntyre in the corner. McIntyre got a boot up on a corner charge and got two. The announcers spent a lot of time discussing the atmosphere in the building as far as the wrestlers are concerned, after what happened last night. Swinging neckbreaker by McIntyre for two. To the second rope went the Scot, but it was a mistake, as Orton got his boots up as Mac came down. Orton began to connect on his signature moves and did the rope-assisted DDT. By the way, Miz just posted a link on Twitter to an apology video that he and Truth recorded; it’s up on Youtube. Orton hit the RKO for the win.

WINNER: Orton, at 5:27. I guess it was smart to let this match go a little longer, considering Orton should be beat up from his match with Henry last night. Another part of me is still surprised WWE had him take that long to beat McIntyre, as I figured they’d want to give him momentum with a quick, decisive win.

2 – MARK HENRY vs. JOHN MORRISON

So that’s why Henry stayed in the ring. JR said tonight is Morrison’s birthday. Henry was on offense to start. Beal out of the corner by Henry, but Morrison landed on his feet. However, he could not capitalize. Henry gave Morrison a shot to the back, then tried to finish him. Morrison jumped out of a slam attempt and got Henry down to one knee. Running knee to the face, followed by Starship Pain. Booker proclaimed we’d have a new champ, despite the fact that the title is not on the line. Henry kicked out, kicked Morrison in the face, then gave him the World’s Strongest Slam for the win.

WINNER: Henry, at 1:58. It’s a race to stay out of the basement between McIntyre and Morrison. McIntyre won that battle tonight.

3 – EVE TORRES & KELLY KELLY vs. BETH PHOENIX & NATALYA

Kelly was still all smiles despite losing the title last night. The announcers had to cover for that, as JR said she’s smiling but hurting inside. Beth took Kelly by the hair and flung her under the bottom rope and to the outside. Kelly slammed Beth’s head intot he announce table while screaming, presumably in anger. Nattie and Eve started brawling as well, and the ref called for the bell. Kelly sat on the back of Beth at ringside and continued the onslaught.

WINNERS: No Contest, at :34. If she was this irate, why was she smiling so big on the way to the ring? Would it kill someone to tell her to show some consistency with her character?

 Jinder Mahal was in the ring. He spoke in his native tongue until Santino Marella’s music hit. He made his return and walked out for a match. After throwing his Cobra arm-sleeve to the crowd, he spoke in a fake foreign language to Mahal and said, “halitosis.” Mahal argued back and apparently they OK’d a match.

4 – JINDER MAHAL vs. SANTINO MARELLA

Mahal missed a corner charge and Marella set up for the Cobra. It found the mark.

WINNER: Marella, at :33. This makes Mahal’s win over Yoshi Tatsu on NXT last week even stranger.

5 – CM PUNK & JOHN CENA & KOFI KINGSTON & EVAN BOURNE & MASON RYAN & SHEAMUS vs. CODY RHODES & DAVID OTUNGA & JACK SWAGGER & DOLPH ZIGGLER & CHRISTIAN & ALBERTO DEL RIO

Cena got the best of Otunga at the outset, then Ziggler and Ryan matched up. Ziggler yelled at Ryan and slapped him. Ryan responded with, you guessed it, a clothesline. Ryan pressed Ziggler over his head and tossed him to ringside on top of Swagger. The heels regrouped in front of the announcers. Ziggler came back in and dove right into Ryan’s arms. Standing powerslam for two at 2:06. Sheamus tagged in and Ziggler got out of another slam attempt. He tagged Swagger in. Sheamus clobbered Swagger over the back and neck with forearms. Crowd was loving it. Swagger took out Sheamus’s knee. Back-breaker by Sheamus for two. Punk came in and slammed Swagger. Neither he nor Cena are showing much ill effect from the Cell match. Rhodes tagged in before Punk could come off the top onto Swagger. Rhodes found some early offense against Punk. Punk came back with a jumping leg kick, then a running knee in the corner. Bulldog out of it, then he went for the GTS. The apron emptied and there was a stand-off in the middle of the ring. Perfect time for a commercial break, 5:47 into the match.

Back at 8:50, with Kingston missing a cross-body and Cody connecting on a springboard kick. Christian tagged in and landed a neck-breaker for a two-count. The heels did some cheating behind the referee’s back. The heels kept the legal man fresh with frequent tags. Rhodes tossed Kingston out of the ring and Swagger stomped him. Kofi recovered to throw Rhodes into the barricade. Cole noted that a second official should’ve been assigned to this match. Kofi tried to leap over Ziggler to make a tag, but it was unsuccessful. Otunga slammed Kofi and went for a cover, only getting two. Both Ziggler and Kofi went for a cross-body. Crowd really got behind Kofi, who made the tag to Bourne. He kicked away at Swagger and went to the top. He kicked down an interfering Christian and hit Air Bourne. Swagger rolled over and Vickie was able to put Swagger’s leg on the rope during the pin. The referee then sent her to the back. The babyfaces taunted her as she left ringside. They went to break again at 16:29.

The show returned at 19:42. Ziggler was doing his best to prevent Bourne from making the tag. Tilt-a-whirl back-breaker by Del Rio for two in one of his few appearances during this match. Tornado DDT by Bourne and both men were down at 21:35. Cena tagged in and Del Rio was the victim of his patented offense. Del Rio put an end to that by bringing Cena’s arm down across his knees. Cena was stuck in the heel corner as Swagger and Rhodes got a few shots in on Cena. Everybody seemed to want to get a piece of Cena, and everyone got a piece. Hard whip into the buckle by Swagger. Vader Bomb by Swagger for two at 24:18. Swagger tried another one less than a minute later, but Cena rolled out of the way. Cena tagged Sheamus, and Swagger tagged Ziggler. High knee lift and a beauty. He tried to go to the top, but Del Rio pushed him off (after Christian couldn’t do so). Zig Zag by Ziggler on Sheamus, then Bourne came off the top with the double knees. Cody came in and gave Bourne Cross Rhodes. Mason Ryan put Rhodes over his head, but Swagger and Rhodes ended up clotheslining him over the top. Kingston gave a cross-body to both men, then a suplex from Del Rio on Kofi. Del Rio was given the GTS by Punk, and Otunga gave Punk a neck-breaker (interesting that Otunga was the one who took Punk out). AA on Otunga by Cena, then a Zig Zag to Cena. In the end, Sheamus gave Ziggler the Brogue Kick for the win.

WINNERS: Babyfaces, at 26:53. Really good match and hot most of the way through. Can’t remember when there was a match that long on Raw.

Both rosters were shown surrounding the ring. There was a pause in the music, but the fans weren’t chanting for Triple H, if that’s what they were supposed to do. “Time to Play the Game” then started up, and Hunter walked out. I didn’t see Johnny Ace out there. Hunter got into the ring and walked around the squared circle, looking at the guys. It’s very confusing when Hunter talks about just “running Raw” while other times they talk about how he’s running everything. Hunter said this wasn’t a job he wanted, but was a job he was given. He addressed what Miz and R-Truth said, and said they should apologize to the WWE Universe for being a bunch of babies. He said if they were willing to do the crime, they should’ve been willing to do the time. He said he’s old school and likes watching people beat the hell out of each other. He said he enjoys the battles and the chaos that is Monday Night Raw and WWE. Hunter said that, at the end of the day, don’t they really work for the fans? Poor Sin Cara probably has no idea what he’s saying right now.

Wade Barrett tried to interrupt but Hunter said it’s his responsibility that Raw is the best show it can possibly be. He said he works his *** off not for the wrestlers, but for the fans. Trips said he was curious to hear the opinions of the wrestlers. Barrett said he’s been selected by his colleagues to speak on some grievances they’ve had. Hey, there’s William Regal! Barrett said there truly is an unsafe working environment in WWE. “You suck” chants from the fans. Barrett said they came to WWE because they’re competitors who like to adhere to rules and regulations. But that doesn’t include being subjected to attacks by people in the parking lot, or being put in an unsafe working environment because Hunter can’t do his job. He said the reason for the chaos is because Hunter is out of control. Hunter introduced the fans to Barrett, who just more than a year ago led Nexus in their attack on WWE in an attempt to shut Raw down. He said Barrett only has a problem because he’s not the one causing it.
 
Mike Chioda spoke up next and said he’s known Triple H for 16 years. He said he’s never seen this much abuse referees have taken at the hands of WWE Superstars. He asked how they were supposed to get respect from Superstars and do their job. Triple H called him “Mike” and said he fired the guys that attacked them. Chioda reminded Hunter that Miz and Truth still got in the building, and nothing was done about the attacks on Chad Patton and Scott Armstrong. Chioda said 23 years he’s been in WWE, and now he’s afraid to come to work. Hunter seemed at a loss for words. Beth Phoenix spoke up and said as women they’re more vulnerable. Hunter asked for a specific instance of something that happened. Beth said it’s just that something “could” happen.
 
Jerry Lawler spoke up next and actually entered the ring. Lawler said he’s agreed with what some people have said, but disagreed on other points. He said he agreed that Raw is spiraling out of control and that it’s becoming a hostile work environment…but he doesn’t think it’s Hunter’s fault. He said it’s exactly as Punk said it was, that there’s someone behind the scenes sabotaging Hunter, and everyone around the ring is paying the price for it. Lawler said somebody doesn’t want Hunter to be in charge. Christian interrupted and asked for a vote of confidence right now. He said on behalf of him and his colleagues, they vote no confidence. Chioda spoke for the refs and echoed that sentiment. Phoenix did the same, presumably for the Divas. Lawler even said no confidence, despite admitting he thought someone was sabotaging Hunter. He even said actions speak louder than words and reluctantly walked out. The rest of the roster slowly made their way up the ramp as well.

One group of wrestlers stayed behind though, and had a discussion amongst themselves. As they did so, Michael Cole walked off. The group that stayed behind consisted of Kofi, Zack Ryder, Percy Watson, Marella, Alex Riley, Morrison and Bourne. They finally made their way out, as did Booker T, Justin Roberts and another ringside worker. Even the cameramen put their cameras down and walked off in a nice touch. Hunter stared at JR, who was still at the announce table. The crowd roared their approval. JR pushed his chair back and took off his headset as they began to boo. JR then walked to the back, though he didn’t seem to want to. Hunter looked to the crowd, who cheered him. Johnny Ace then walked out onto the stage. He shook his head as the crowd chanted “you suck.” Ace then turned his back and walked out. Hunter stayed in the ring and looked around as the show went off. Unique and interesting final segment. I liked it.

WWE NXT Redemption Results: 10-5-11

1 -- DERRICK BATEMAN (w/Maxine) vs. TITUS O'NEIL

Bateman started off in control of the match as Regal introduced this week's Fascinating Maxine Fact: her uncle likes to train monkeys and dilly-dally around flea markets. Korpela then noted Hornswoggle has left NXT and is residing on Smackdown only. With Bateman still on the defensive, Regal suggested Titus is now boring and bland after losing Hornswoggle's mentoring services. Titus finally made a comeback with an overhead slam that slowed down Bateman. Titus then ripped off a flurry of offense before landing a powerslam for a close two count. Titus became distracted by Maxine, though, allowing Bateman to clip him from behind and score with a bulldog for the win.

WINNER: Bateman at 5:12. Will this lead to the return of Hornswoggle to pep up Titus? Will A.J. now manage Titus? Will NXT ever end?

2 -- JTG (w/Darren Young) vs. YOSHI TATSU

Regal said he's having issues with Yoshi this season because it was an action figure leg at first and now it's facepaint when he needs to be more concerned about winning matches. On the outside, D-Young mocked Yoshi with make-up, so Yoshi kicked him in the head. Back in the ring, JTG took advantage of Yoshi losing focus and went to work on him with kicks and stomps. The crowd rallied behind Yoshi, but JTG cut him off and D-Young mocked Yoshi again after recovering from the kick to the head. JTG hit the mug shot out of the corner, but Yoshi kicked out in time. Yoshi made a full comeback at 4:00, then went up top. Yoshi connected with his signature top-rope roundhouse kick and it was good for the win. Mike Chioda, spokesman for the referees who walked out on Triple H, raised Yoshi's hand in victory. D-Young then checked on JTG as Yoshi celebrated the victory.

WINNER: Yoshi at 4:52. Basic story played out in the ring. Good recovery win for Yoshi after the head-scratching loss to Jinder Mahal last week.

3 -- DANIEL BRYAN vs. HEATH SLATER

Korpela noted Slater was proud of himself for walking out on Triple H. Regal said he wasn't, but he did it out of necessity to send a message Hunter has too much responsibility on his plate. Regal then heeled on wrestlers thinking they're not getting opportunities when perhaps they don't deserve an opportunity, turning the storyline into a "worked shoot" direct from management. Regal added that people like Bryan, Sheamus, and Ted DiBiase actually go in the ring and try to be the best while other wrestlers sit in the stands all day and never ask questions or try to improve.

In the ring, Bryan dominated before Slater cut him off to begin working him over. On the floor, Bryan reversed a whip into the guardrail and followed with a running knee smash from the ring apron. Back in the ring, Slater crotched Bryan on the top turnbuckle and went back to work on Bryan. Slater's advantage didn't last long, as Bryan fired up a comeback and delivered trademark strikes. Slater tried to fight back, but Bryan caught him a Dragonscrew leg whip right into the Regal Stretch center-ring. Slater quickly tapped out. Post-match, Bryan shot a look toward Regal to acknowledge the finisher. After a replay, Regal noted Bryan has been frustrated lately due to the losing streak and perhaps this will snap him out of it.

WINNER: Bryan via submission at 5:41. That was perhaps Slater's best in-ring performance in some time. There's something to be said about when wrestlers get in the ring with Bryan, he forces them to raise their game. Also, nice showcase for Bryan displaying his intensity and trademark offense.

4 -- THE USOS (JIMMY & JEY USO) vs. CURT HAWKINS & TYLER REKS

Regal went back to heeling on wrestlers who complain about not getting opportunities as the heels worked over Jey to begin the match. The Usos then combined for a great Samoan Drop during their comeback before the action broke down. Jimmy and Reks ended up on the outside. Back in the ring, Jey delivered a big superkick on Hawkins before climbing up top. Reks distracted him, though, and Hawkins tossed Jey to the mat. Hawkins then went up top for a heat-seeking elbow drop for the pin and the win, dashing the hopes of the fans. Regal said Hawkins and Reks need to do something with this victory instead of just complaining. After a replay, they showed the Usos recovering as Regal finished his show-long "pep talk" to the younger stars to make a statement like Hawkins and Reks just did.

WINNERS: Hawkins & Reks at 4:50. Short main event, but effective for keeping the issue alive and the Usos on the chase.

FINAL THOUGHT: NXT is officially Superstars now. There's no sense of a Rookie competition show and NXT has become a showcase for mid-carders, just with the same characters every week, which differentiates it from Superstars.

ROH TV Results: 10-1-11

1 - - MIKE BENNETT (w/Brutal Bob) vs. JIMMY JACOBS (w/Steve Corino)

Jacobs offered a handshake and Bennett gave him a very loose handshake. Bennett dared Jacobs to hit him. Bennett gave Jacobs the worst pie-face in the history of wrestling. Bennett tried to pie-face Jacobs again. The crowd chanted “you can’t wrestle” at Bennett. Jacobs hit Bennett, but Bennett fired back and put the boots to Jacobs in the corner. Jacobs fired back and put the boots to Bennett in the corner. Bennett fired back and hit a back breaker on Jacobs. They introduced the “tweet of the week.” What a horrible thing to include on television. I won’t even repeat what the tweet was.

Bennett sent Jacobs to the outside. The crowd noise sounds distant again, as it did last week. Bennett hit another back breaker inside the ring before slamming Jacobs. McGuinness called Bennett a natural in the ring and compared him to Kurt Angle. Oh, brother. Jacobs fired back and hit a neck breaker. McGuinness talked about Jacobs’s signature moves. Jacobs went to the second rope and jumped over Bennett. Bennett caught him off the ropes with a spinebuster, but Jacobs kicked out. Jacobs ducked under Bennett and caught him with a springboard ace crusher for a nearfall. Jacobs went for a senton off the top, but Bennett got his knees up. Bennett hit the box office smash for the pin.

Winner: Mike Bennett. I just don’t see it with Bennett. This was a fine match for television, but the praise given to him by the announcers was above and beyond what he showed in the ring from a charisma and in-ring ability standpoint. Comparing Bennett to Rock and Angle is really going have a lot of eyes rolling across the Sinclair markets.

2 - - EL GENERICO vs. JAY LETHAL – ROH TV Title match

The crowd was hot for the start of this match. The announcers said Generico doesn’t speak much English. In fact, they don’t hear him speak much at all. Generico took down Lethal with a headscissors early and the crowd applauded. Lethal fired back and took down Generico with a headscissors and they came to a stalemate. Lethal offered a handshake and helped Generico to his feet. Lethal took control and hit a hip toss into a dropkick for a 2 count. Lethal took Generico down and locked him in a nasty looking submission. Lethal’s shoulders were clearly on the ground while holding the submission, but the ref didn’t count it. Lethal let go of the hold and covered Generico for a 2 count. The crowd applauded as Lethal grabbed a front face lock on Generico. Generico fought back with some punches, but Lethal took him down with a dropkick.

Both men traded blows in the middle of the ring. Generico hit a series of arm drags that sent Lethal to the outside. The crowd went nuts as Generico set up a dive. Generico got a running start and hit a big flip dive to the outside to wipe out Lethal before a commercial break.

Back from commercial, Lethal was back in control. They went to a double box with highlights of the action from the break. The boxes should have been bigger in the replay graphic. Lethal caught Generico with a sunset flip into a pin for a 2 count. Generico fired right back on Lethal and took control as the crowd applauded. Lethal fired back with a handspring elbow that left both men down on the mat. Both men traded punches again in the middle of the ring. Lethal drove Generico into the corner to break a waist lock. Lethal shoved Generico off and hit a missile dropkick for a 2 count. Cruise announced there were three minutes left in the time limit. A clock was shown on the screen with the time remaining in the match. Lethal hit a neck breaker variation, but Generico kicked out at 2 with two minutes left in the match.

McGuinness said this is the time you hate when you’re a wrestler. He said you’ve got to suck it up and get it done. Lethal set up for a powerbomb, but Generico countered it into a tornado DDT for a nearfall with close to one minute remaining in the match. Generico fired up as the crowd chanted “ole,ole” for him. Generico hit a blue thunder powerbomb for another nearfall and the crowd groaned. Lethal blocked a yokuza kicked and got a rollup for a nearfall with 15 seconds left. Both men exchanged counters in the middle of the ring as the time limit expired.

The crowd chanted for five more minutes. Cruise announced the match as a time limit draw. Generico tried to talk to the ref about getting more time. Jim Cornette came out. He said they have three minutes left in TV time. Cornette asked if they wanted it and both men agreed. Lethal and Generico exchanged blows as the fans went nuts. Lethal hit a big clothesline in the corner, but Generico caught him with a yokuza kick and half-nelson suplex for a nearfall and the crowd went nuts. Generico set up for the top rope brainbuster, but Lethal countered it into a suplex. Lethal went up top and went for an elbow, but Generico got out of the way. Generico set up for the top rope brainbuster, but Lethal pushed him off and hit a top rope elbow. The crowd counted along with the ref, but Generico kicked out at the last second. Generico caught Lethal with a suplex into the corner. Generico went for a yokuza kick in the corner, but Lethal caught him with a superkick. Lethal then hit the Lethal injection for the win.

Winner: Jay Lethal to capture the ROH TV title. This was a really good TV match. It started a little slow, but the last five minutes and the overtime were excellent. The crowd was really into the match and it left a lasting impression of what a good ROH match can bring to the table for new fans watching in Sinclair markets. ROH would be wise not to do the extra time gimmick too often, as it was just used at the “Death Before Dishonor IX” iPPV recently in the Strong vs. Edwards match. To be fair, that iPPV has been totally ignored on TV so far.

TNA Impact Wrestling Results: 10-6-11

1 -- KAZARIAN vs. GUNNER

The announcers continued to talk Hogan as the production truck ran Twitter posts on the screen talking about the make-believe contributions Hogan has made to TNA. Gunner targeted Kazarian's previously-injured left tricep/bicep area with early offense before Kaz made a comeback at 3:30. Gunner avoided a corner attack, though, and Kaz smashed into the ringpost. Gunner followed up with a standing armbar and Kaz quickly tapped out.

Post-match: Gunner locked the hold in an extra moment to inflict more punishment, which led to a reverse decision by the referee. Kaz was announced as the winner while medics checked on Kaz. Gunner didn't care about the result and gloated over his work before leaving the ring. "Screw you all!" he growled to no one in particular.

WINNER: Kaz via DQ reverse decision at 4:13.

2 -- MICKIE JAMES & VELVET SKY vs. Knockouts champion WINTER (w/Angelina Love) & MADISON RAYNE

The heels made their entrance on the other side of the break leading right into the start of the fourth quarter-hour. The focus early on was on Mickie-Winter, continuing their recent KO Title feud. The heels took control via outside interference from Angelina to begin working over Mickie. After Velvet took a tag, the action broke down. Referee confusion ensued. Rayne then rolled up Velvet, who had a pin moments earlier, for the win.

WINNERS: Winter & Rayne at 4:41. Basic build-up to the title match in ten days.

3 -- SAMOA JOE vs. CRIMSON

Aggressive back-and-forth early on. Crimson ducked a clothesline and t-bone suplexed Joe across the ring to the floor. On the outside, Crimson inflicted more punishment as more Hogan tweets flashed on the screen. Joe reversed the offensive advantage in his favor, flipped off the ref, and tried to re-injure Crimson's leg. Back in the ring, Joe continued to work on the lower leg. Joe applied a submission and Crimson teased tapping out, which would have ended his make-believe undefeated streak that the announcers completely missed when they could have enhanced the jeopardy Crimson faced, then Crimson suddenly rolled through into a small package for the pin and the win.

WINNER: Crimson at 5:21.

4 -- ROBERT ROODE (241 lbs.) vs. JAMES STORM (240 lbs.)

The two men stood their ground before circling around the ring and knocking fists to begin the match. They traded holds and counters before Storm teased a superkick that Roode backed away from. Roode smiled and Storm said he missed him by that much. Roode then had his turn, nearly sneaking in a submission finisher. The two men came nose-to-nose to sell tension as TNA cut to break.

Back from break, Tenay talked about Hogan as the Beer Money partners were tied up in the corner. Storm and Roode traded hard chops as Taz noted it's getting a little snug in the ring. Tenay then confirmed A.J. Styles vs. Daniels at Bound for Glory, and in an I Quit match. Roode and Storm continued the even match-up with an exchange of close nearfalls. The match moved to the top turnbuckle, where Storm executed a superplex that popped the crowd. Storm made a cover, but Roode escaped in time. Storm and Roode went into a counter-counter sequence before Roode slapped on a Crossface that Storm escaped via rope break.

Suddenly, the ref was bumped when all three men collided in the ring and Storm found himself on the floor. On cue, Kurt Angle hit the ringside area and threw Storm into the ring steps. Angle then rolled Storm back into the ring and ran backstage. In the ring, Roode slowly recovered, made a cover, and Storm escaped just before three. The action reset with Roode executing his Fisherman suplex finisher with a bridge pin for the win.

Post-match: Roode sold concern for Storm as he checked on him. Tenay said Angle was the difference-maker in this match-up and they don't know why Angle helped Roode.

WINNER: Roode at 14:52.

- The final segment:

Video footage: Hogan and Bischoff sitting in the bathroom talking up their plan to fake Hogan's retirement. Bischoff said he fooled everyone, including The Network. He said these hillbillies mortgaged their trailer homes to buy Hogan merchandise. Hogan mocked Knoxville as they cut to Hogan watching the footage, selling shock. Hogan called for the end of the footage as the crowd booed. Hogan told Sting he's crossed the line and broken every law in this business. "Hell no, I'll never wrestle you. But, I'll fight you at Bound for Glory!" Hogan screamed. In a red-faced rage, Hogan said that if Sting beats him, he'll give the company back to Sting and Dixie Carter. After blurting that out, Hogan covered his mouth. "Got what I wanted. Ta ta for now," Sting said into the ringside camera. Sting walked out of the ring as Tenay plugged the higher-stakes Sting-Hogan match at BFG.

WWE Superstars Results: 10-6-11

(1) Alex Riley beat JTG. Good match. Alex Riley showed a lot of intensity and was quite fluid in his execution.

(2) Mike McGillicutty beat Percy Watson. McGillicutty tried to pull off some sort of Edge-like “crazy eyes” thing, but it just made him look like he had too much hot sauce on his taco. Percy Watson continues to impress in the ring and his ability to get a crowd who never heard of him to rally behind him.

(3) A.J. beat Tamina. Tamina’s offense has improved. A.J. did a great job showing her personality by the way she carried herself, walked to the ring, celebrated after the win, etc. Matt Stiker had some worked-shoot-style comments on the walk-out from Raw, as well as some political commentary talking about socialism.

(4) Ted DiBiase beat Tyson Kidd. For some strange reason, the crowd was really behind DiBiase, lots of signs in the audience for him. This was taped in his home state, so that may have had something to do with it. Kidd, as always, was outstanding, and DiBiase did a good job as well. He doesn’t play a good face yet, though.

WWE Smackdown Results: 10-7-11

1 – ALBERTO DEL RIO vs. SIN CARA

Mathews said Sin Cara azul put an end to the debate about who the real Sin Cara is. Headscissors by Cara, who impressively landed on his feet. Back handspring, but Del Rio caught him and gave him a German suplex. Cole said he wouldn’t be at Raw Monday unless Triple H stepped down. “Sin Cara” chants as Del Rio grounded Cara with a rear chinlock. Headbutt by Del Rio as Cara worked out of the move. Cara to the top, flying headscissors. The announcers emphasized that Del Rio was the leader of the walk-out, a good way to put him at the forefront of the angle after being lost in the shuffle on Raw. Cara went off the top, but Del Rio grabbed him by the arm (kind-of), and brought it down over his knees. Cross arm-breaker by Del Rio ended it.

WINNER: Del Rio, at 3:14. I don’t know if this speaks more to Cara’s place on the Smackdown roster at this point, or the fact that WWE realized they need to give Del Rio more credibility in order for him to be taken seriously as WWE champion.

After Del Rio and Rodriguez left, Mantaur’s music played. Whoops sorry, it was Sin Cara negro. He entered the ring and attacked the real Sin Cara. Cara negro finished original Cara with a Swanton.

2 – AIR BOOM vs. DOLPH ZIGGLER & JACK SWAGGER

Bourne was sitting at ringside, but was still being examined. Kofi’s adrenaline got the best of him and the heels took over when Ziggler got his foot up on a corner charge. “Vickie sucks” chant at Vickie Guerrero, who was at ringside with her charges. Back suplex by Ziggler. Cole said things were out-of-control again tonight with attacks and brawls already. Kofi flipped out of another suplex and the men met in the middle of the ring with a double clothesline at 2:15. Bourne popped up onto the apron out of nowhere and made the tag. He wasn’t selling the effects of the beating until he went for a dropkick on Swagger and came up holding the back of his head. Neck-breaker by Ziggler, then a Swagger Bomb for the win.

WINNERS: Swagger and Ziggler, at 3:08. Basic storytelling of the challengers getting a non-title win. The hypocrisy of Ziggler and Swagger creating chaos and a dangerous working environment when they were complaining about those issues earlier was not really touched on by the announcers – they focused on the overall idea of chaos erupting.

3 – BETH PHOENIX vs. ALICIA FOX

Beth was flanked by Natalya on her way to the ring. Mathews said he heard Fox beat Booker on the golf course this week. Fox got a nice pop from the audio sweetener. Beth whipped Fox into the buckle, then did a split on the top rope and tried to roll Beth up. Beth put a stop to that and gave Fox the Glam Slam.

WINNER: Phoenix, at :35. I think Fox could be a nice protagonist for Beth and challenge for the Diva’s Title down the line.

Natalya locked Fox in the leg-lock and Beth got the mic. She put it in Fox’s face and told her to scream. Fox cried in agony as Natalya continued pulling on Fox’s arms and legs.

4 – JINDER MAHAL vs. EZEKIEL JACKSON

Mahal took offense to another knock-down once the match began. Knee-lifts by Mahal, but Jackson whipped Mahal into the ropes and gave him a back body-drop. Two bodyslams in a row followed, then a Torture Rack. Mahal snuck out the back and gave Jackson a jumping knee to the face. Mahal fell victim again to the bodyslams, this time four in number. Torture rack successfully applied and Mahal tapped.

WINNER: Jackson, at 2:06. Two guys running in quicksand here as far as their place on the card. Also, wisely kept short.

5 – CHRISTIAN & CODY RHODES vs. SHEAMUS & RANDY ORTON

Shoulder knock-down by Sheamus as Cole and Booker debated the walk-out on Raw. Sheamus tossed Rhodes over the title but Rhodes skinned the cat back in. Forearms across the chest by Sheamus. The crowd counted along with him. Knee-lift on the apron, but back in, Rhodes went after the legs. Christian provided a distraction at 1:35 and Rhodes took back over on offense. Back-drop by Sheamus and Rhodes landed on his butt. Both men made tags and Orton felled Christian with a powerslam. Leap-frog by Orton, followed by a back-drop. Orton hammered away on Christian’s skull in the corner, then landed the rope-assisted DDT. He set up for the RKO, but Rhodes distracted him and Christian slid out of the ring. Orton chased, but Rhodes distracted Orton again and Christian landed a baseball slide. Another abrupt break, at 3:33 of the match.

Back at 6:53 of the match. Christian was in control with a chinlock. Orton broke free, but Christian hit him high with a back elbow. Spinebuster by Christian to halt another Orton comeback. Christian lined Orton up for a Spear, but Orton booted him in the face. Hot tag made to Sheamus at 8:38. Rhodes came in as well, but Sheamus was a house of fire. He went to the top and missed the shoulder tackle – but he rolled through. Irish Curse back-breaker for two. Christian tried to interfere but Sheamus tossed him over the top. Orton tagged in while Sheamus dealt with Christian. Rhodes missed a clothesline, but Orton RKO’d him for the win.

WINNERS: Orton and Sheamus, at 9:48.

- Final segment was The Big Show confronting Mark Henry and as he stated earlier in the show, Show DID put Henry through the announcers table.

WWE RAW Results: 10-10-11

- Triple H came in alone while the wreslers and hired hands were outside on strike. Cena, Sheamus and Punk came in to stand by HHH's side and put on a match.

Hunter circled the ring and said he thinks what they should do is what they do every night on Monday Night Raw: we shut up and fight. Hunter told Sheamus he has a match tonight. He booked Sheamus one-on-one vs. John Cena. And, he'll referee it. As for "foxhole buddy," Hunter told Punk he has a whole table full of pipebombs and headsets to say whatever he wants. Punk just wanted to be able to wear Hunter's blazer and he was in. Hunter told Punk he also needs him to ring the bell. Punk asked for twice the pay and Hunter agreed. Punk then tentatively sounded the bell and the match was on.

1 -- JOHN CENA vs. SHEAMUS -- Triple H special referee -- Punk special guest timekeeper

After 50 seconds of basic action between Cena and Sheamus, Punk fed to the first break of the show 23 minutes into Raw.

Back from break, Punk told viewers not to adjust their TV sets. Punk noted they are in bizarre-world tonight. Suddenly, 4:23 into the match, No Chance In Hell hit. And out came Vince McMahon for his grand return. Punk said he was just trying to be a good commentator like Art Donovan of Rob Naylor. McMahon stepped into the ring and asked for a word with Triple H. He asked Cena and Sheamus to leave the ring. He thanked them for standing up for what they believe in, too. Punk also left the announce position as McMahon thanked the three of them.

WINNER: No Decision at 5:05 when McMahon cut the match off.

- Vince McMahon is back and informs Trips he's no longer in charge...He said the interim GM is John Laurinaitis INSERT FACEPALM!!!

2 -- JOHN MORRISON vs. CHRISTIAN (w/Jack Swagger, Cody Rhodes, and Dolph Ziggler)

Referee Charles Robinson was the assigned referee following the walk-out. Cole said the two Superstars are "wrestling" tonight in their street clothes. Christian's t-shirt was removed early on, but Christian came back with a spear after the heels distracted Morrison. Christian with the win after a minute.

WINNER: Christian at 1:11. WWE seems to be pushing Morrison out the door at this point based on the booking.

Post-match: Ziggler nailed his finisher on Morrison. Rhodes followed with Cross Rhodes. Swagger then dropped Morrison with a gutwrench powerbomb. Ross slipped in a Doctor Bomb reference. Nice. Christian, Ziggler, Rhodes, and Swagger then stood tall in the ring and stood over Morrison before Swagger's music played.

3 -- World Hvt. champion MARK HENRY vs. RANDY ORTON -- non-title match

The match was joined in progress back from break. After a back-and-forth, Cody Rhodes tried to interfere, but Orton threw him away. Orton then countered the World's Strongest Slam into the RKO. Orton had the pin on Henry, but Rhodes interfered, causing a DQ.

Post-match: Orton tried to line up Henry or Rhodes for a Punt, but Henry dropped Orton with the World's Strongest Slam. He actually tried to make a cover, but the match had been ruled a DQ. Henry took out his frustration with another World's Strongest Slam on Orton. After Henry left, Rhodes picked up the scraps with Cross Rhodes on Orton. Rhodes then called for a bag to place over Orton's head. Rhodes took the mic and said if you cut the head off the viper, all the venom goes with it. Rhodes asked Orton if he would like a receipt with his paper bag. He cackled maniacally before his music played and Rhodes bailed from the ring.

WINNER: Orton via DQ at 3:25. Henry was given a chance to get his heat back in the post-match, but odd booking of him taking so much offense from Orton. Granted, it's #2 top star Orton, but WWE isn't protecting Henry as much as they should be. The transition to Orton-Rhodes gives the two men something to work with near the main event scene. As for the booking of the wrestling matches themselves on this show, why would anyone ever spend money on a wrestling show again after this night? Awful.

4 -- KELLY KELLY & EVE vs. ROSA MENDES & TAMINA

Back from break, all four Divas were in the ring. The heels isolated Kelly early on before the action broke down. Eve, who tagged in before the chaos, nailed a top-rope moonsault for the win. After the finish, Divas champ Beth Phoenix and Natalya were shown watching on a monitor.

WINNERS: Eve & Kelly at 2:15. Apparently this puts Eve in position for the next Divas Title shot?

- Laurinaitis calls Jim Ross into the ring...Yep, you guessed it...YOU'RE FIRED!!!

5 -- U.S. champion DOLPH ZIGGLER & JACK SWAGGER & DAVID OTUNGA (w/Vickie Guerrero) vs. MASON RYAN & WWE tag champions AIR BOOM (KOFI KINGSTON & EVAN BOURNE) -- six-man tag match

After 1:25 of basic action, they cut to break with the two sides arguing on the floor. More counter-productive presentation of wrestling on this show tonight.

Back from break four minutes later, Ryan took a hot tag and almost dropped Swagger on his head. He then completely whiffed on some corner punches and kicks. Kofi then tagged in and the heels worked him over before Ryan took another tag. Cole went overboard trying to enhance Ryan as he delivered offense. The action broke down before Ryan delivered a swinging sidewalk slam on Ziggler for the pin and the win. Cue up Vickie's screaming and Ryan's awful new theme music. Post-match: Kofi and Ryan checked on Bourne, who took a huge powerbomb from Swagger during the chaos.

WINNERS: Team Ryan at 8:23. I didn't think this show could get any worse, then WWE trotted out Mason Ryan and tried to put him over at the expense of five other more deserving wrestlers.

6 -- WWE champion ALBERTO DEL RIO vs. C.M. PUNK -- non-title match

Cole said this match renews the "long history" between Del Rio and Punk. Cole went all the way back to Summerslam two months ago for the start of their long history. Punk and Del Rio went back and forth early on after Del Rio tried to stall on the outside following early offense from Punk. Punk then went flying to the outside and Laurinaitis suddenly walked out on-stage. He ended the match right now.

WINNER: Match stopped at 4:18.

Post-match: Laurinaitis announced a tag match right now involving two men he re-instated. Long, awkward pause. It's like he was waiting for music to play. Laurinaitis said it's Miz and R-Truth. Miz walked out on-stage before Truth followed behind and they rapped their way to the ring. The crowd didn't seem to care. And another break.

6b -- WWE champion ALBERTO DEL RIO & C.M. PUNK vs. THE MIZ & R-TRUTH

The match was joined in progress back from break. Cole went through the recent history of Del Rio being assaulted by Miz and Truth after Hell in a Cell. After Miz and Truth dominated early on, Del Rio and Punk put aside their "long feud" and exchanged tags to begin working over Miz.

At the top of the hour, Lawler went back to his thoughts about someone trying to sabotage this show to get Triple H fired. Cole then reset the show, informing viewers of the headlines from this show: Triple H fired, Laurinaitis in as GM. Also, Rhodes putting a paper bag over Orton's head and Jim Ross fired. No surprise - no mention of the two PPV main events announced tonight. Meanwhile, Del Rio decided to walk away from ringside, leaving Punk alone in the match. The crowd tried to rally with a "C-M-Punk" chant as the heels worked over Punk. Punk made a comeback on Miz with a Macho Man elbow drop before trying the G2S, but Truth broke it up. Miz and Truth then double-teamed Punk, so ref Charles Robinson threw out the match.

WINNER: Punk via DQ at 8:03.

Post-match: Triple H, in street clothes, stormed the ring and destroyed Miz and Truth. Miz tried to escape through the crowd, but Hunter yanked him back to ringside and threw him into the ring steps. Punk then flung Truth over the announce table. Truth escaped through the crowd, though. Miz bailed, too. Hunter and Punk then re-assembled together in the ring. Cue up Hunter's theme music.

Backstage: Otunga and Laurinaitis were shown watching the happenings. Laurinaitis said he's going to ask the board about booking Punk and Triple H together as allies against Miz and Truth at Vengeance. Otunga liked the idea. Back live, Cole acted like the match is official as Hunter and Punk posed in the ring to close the show eight minutes past the top of the hour.

1 - - ANDY RIDGE vs. TOMASSO CIAMPA (w/The Embassy)


Corino put over Ciampa on commentary as he delivered a clothesline to Ridge. Ridge blocked a suplex and both men brawled on the apron. Ridge hit several kicks, but Ciampa fired back with a series of chops. Ridge won the exchanges with a clothesline. Ciampa fired right back and tripped Ridge on the apron before swinging him into the barricade at ringside. Ouch! Corino talked about how talented Ciampa was, but if he continued to listen to Nana, he wouldn’t get anywhere. Corino referenced Kevin Steen without using his name, so Kelly quickly cut him off. Ciampa worked a headlock, but Ridge fired back with a chin breaker followed by a series of kicks. Ridge followed up with a springboard ace crusher for a 2 count. They showed the tweet of the week. It was better than the one they used last week, but totally useless.

Ciampa fired back with a series of running knees in the corner. He followed up with project Ciampa for the win.

Winner: Tomasso Ciampa

2 - - DAVEY RICHARDS vs. RODERICK STRONG – ROH World Title match

Strong took Richards down to the mat early, but Richards drove him into the ropes. Strong slapped Richards across the face after the broke apart. A heavy chant for Richards broke out as both men circled each other in the middle of the ring. Both men exchanged counters and came to a stalemate and the crowd applauded. Richards caught Strong in a submission on the mat. Strong countered with a submission of his own on Richards. Richards escaped and grounded Strong with an arm submission as the crowd clapped. Richards went for an ankle lock, but Strong shoved him to the floor. Both men ended up on the floor and Richards lit up Strong with kicks as Kelly talked about Richards’s training camp in preparation for the match.

Strong fired back with a kick and tossed Richards into the guardrail. Both men exchanged chops on the floor and Strong won the battle with a huge chop. They continued to go at it on the floor with Richards whipping Strong into the guardrail and following up with a running kick to the head. The announcers said both men were fighting for the biggest prize in wrestling. Strong snapped Richards’s neck over the top rope from the outside and went on the attack. Kelly referenced McGuinness as being a former ROH World Champion. Both men brawled up top and Richards hit an enzuguri that sent Strong to the floor. Richards got distracted by Martini and Strong nailed him with a kick from the apron as they went to break with a nearfall.

They came back from the break with Strong in control. They showed two small boxes with the “live” action and highlights from action during the break that saw Strong win an exchange of blows with a dropkick. They went back to live action with Richards hitting a suplex as the crowd applauded. Both men recovered and began exchanging blows in the middle of the ring. Richards won the exchange with two big kicks. Richards kicked Strong to the outside and nailed him with a running kick on the apron. Richards followed up with a dive through the ropes and the crowd went nuts, although the sound was low for the pop.

Richards went up top and hit a missile dropkick inside the ring for a nearfall. Strong and Richards exchanged blows in the center of the ring. Davey hit a series of slaps and nailed Strong with a running forearm and a suplex for a 2 count. The crowd chanted “this is awesome” as Richards went on the attack. Strong fired back and caught Richards with a powerslam for a 2 count. Strong went for a backbreaker, but Richards caught him in a pinning combination for a 2 count. Strong fired back with a big kick for a 2 count. Richards hit a backbreaker on the apron and rolled Richards back into the apron for a nearfall. Strong hit a kick, but Richards hit the alarm clock. Richards then caught Strong with a lariat that left both men down on the mat. The crowd chanted for Richards as he struggled to his feet.

They came to the middle of the ring and exchanged blows again. Richards sold a forearm and returned the favor to Strong, who went down to a knee. Strong hit a chop and Richards fired up and nailed him with a kick. Kelly said they were running low on TV time. He said the match would continue next week if they ran out of time. Strong caught Richards with a kick in the corner and followed up with a gut buster for a nearfall. The fans chanted “this is awesome.” Richards ducked a charge in the corner and hit a running knee. Richards put Strong on the top turnbuckle and nailed him with a superplex. He held on and hit a falcon arrow for a 2 count. Richards then grabbed an ankle lock, but Strong fought out of it. Strong went for another gut buster, but Richards caught him with an ankle lock. Richards grapevine the leg and Martini got on the apron as Strong tapped. Richards chased Martini into the ring and ducked a clothesline from Strong. Richards took out Strong and went after Martini. Richards sent Martini out of the ring and walked right into the sick kick from Strong for another nearfall. Strong applied the Stronghold, but Richards countered it into the ankle lock. Strong pushed him off, but Richards hit a kick. Strong spit at Richards and slapped him in the face. Richards fired back with a roundhouse kick to the head, but Strong kicked out. Richards then got the ankle lock and grapevined the leg for the tap out.

Winner: Davey Richards to retain the ROH World Title

Star rating: (***1/4) – This was the best match ROH has presented on television so far. Strong and Richards delivered some really good in-ring action, but the shenanigans with Martini and too many nearfalls watered things down a bit.

WWE NXT Redemption Results: 10-12-11

1 - A.J. vs. MAXINE

Back from break, Maxine is in control of A.J. and gets a nearfall. Maxine with her almost Sheamus-like offense, pounding on A.J. while she is tied up in the ropes. Regal gives us another story about one of Maxine's exotic relatives. Maxine continues to abuse A.J. Maxine with a nice-looking suplex for two, and her third resthold of the three-minute match. The crowd rallies behind A.J. as Maxine tries Ten Punches, but A.J. throws her off and goes up top. A.J. with a high crossbody for one, and a spinner heel kick for two. A.J. fires up, but Maxine ducks a punch and turns it into a backbreaker. A.J. with a Shining Wizard out of nowhere for two.

WINNER: A.J. in 5:00. Maxine has good brawling offense, but she needs to speed it up and use fewer holds. A.J.'s flexibility gives her that Evan Bourne quality of selling submission holds really well. A.J. has amazing charisma and get get anyone to want to cheer for her without a second of mic time. They're still learning to put on a good match, but the raw talent is there.

2 - THE USOS vs. CURT HAWKINS & TYLER REKS - Tag Team Match

Jey Uso starts off strong against Curt. They do some back-and-forth tags to wear down Hawkins. The crowd is dead. Jimmy accidentally lets Reks tag in and Reks overpowers Jimmy. Jimmy turns the tide and Hawkins tags in, and gets punished, too. The faces continue to isolate Hawkins, in a total reversal of roles in the typical WWE tag match. Reks breaks up a pin and Hawkins gets cleared from the ring. Jey with a huge over the top rope dive onto Curt at ringside.

Hawkins is still in trouble, but finally tags Reks in. Reks and Hawkins isolate their opponent. Hawkins and Reks drag out the typical heel beat down. There's just not enough crowd involvement to make this feel exciting. Regal says that Reks is using a hold he liked to use, and that he's glad that the new Superstars are studying the veterans. Jey finally tags Jimmy in who takes down Reks and knocks Hawkins out of the ring. Stinkface gets two. He goes up top but Reks transitions the crossbody into a powerslam, so very sweet. Reks ducks a superkick and hoists him up for the Burning Hammer, but he slips out and tag in, hit Reks with a double superkick, then hit Reks with a double Superfly Splash for the win.

WINNERS: The Usos in 10:00. The long periods of isolation by both teams was slow, but the ending was hot, especially the crossbody reversal into a powerslam. It was also good to see both Hawkins and Reks get some mic time before the match.

3 -- PERCY WATSON (w/Titus O'Neil) vs. DERRICK BATEMAN (w/Maxine)

Watson and Bateman start off with some chain wrestling going both ways. Percy shows off his big dropkick. Watson looks like he is going for a moonsault and Bateman dropkicks him from behind. Bateman with a gutbuster that looked weak. The announcers say that Bateman's covers are slow, and they're right, Regal says they point it out to help them learn. Bateman with more basic offense.

Percy with a bone-crushing crossbody for two. Bateman bounces right back though. Bateman with an abdominal stretch and Percy sells it like it is the worse pain ever, but hip tosses himself out. Bateman with a nice dropkick of his own and a powerslam, but whiffs on an elbow drop, allowing Percy to get back to his feet. Percy with some offense and he gets the crowd fired up. He does his jumping lateral press for two. Bateman with a gordbuster and Korpella attributes it to watching old tapes. Percy with a huge flapjack, and some sort of finisher (like a suplex/flapjack) for the win.

WINNER: Percy Watson in 8:00. Much better match than I expected. Both Bateman and Watson have the athletic talent, it's just a matter of them needing some spit and polish.

WWE Superstars Results: 10-13-11

1 - SANTINO MARELLA vs. JTG

Santino starts off by threatening JTG with slaps and the Cobra, backing him to the ropes a number of times. Santino with a drop toehold, then spins himself on JTG’s back. JTG gets frustrated and goes on the attack. Santino with a hip toss and a powerslam and readies the Cobra, but JTG gets to the corner, then ambushes Santino as he deals with the ref. JTG with his basic heel offense. Backbreaker gets JTG two. Scott Stanford makes a series of “JTG’s so fly…” and “JTG’s so cool…” jokes. The crowd rallies behind Santino, and he does some punches, the split, the hip toss, but whiffs on the Sailor Salute Headbutt. Santino with a stunner, then the Cobra is ready, it connects, and Santino gets the win. “Good night Irene” from Stanford.

WINNER: Santino Marella in 5:00. Basic match to get Santino some ring time and expose live crowds to JTG as a heel. JTG’s offense is so bland, though. It was refreshing to hear the announcers focus on this match, not the Raw drama from Monday night.

2 - ALEX RILEY vs. DREW MCINTYRE

Riley’s pop sounded fairly genuine, not sweetened like most on Superstars are. Last week, he seemed over with the crowd, too. The match started with a quick lock-up before McIntyre put Riley in the corner and celebrated. He backs off, then the two men chain wrestle, but Drew cheapshots Riley as the ref pulls them apart. Quick, hard-hitting, back and forth. Riley with Ten Punches in the corner, then some sort of move to drive Drew’s head into the match. Riley springboards over the top rope to Drew on the ground, but Drew shoves his face into the apron. Stanford throws to a commercial, which doesn’t happen.

Back from the false break, Drew is in control. He does a neat suplex, almost an inside-out suplex. And then he slows it down with an armbar. The crowd gets behind Riley and Drew cuts off the comeback. Drew stays in control and the ref has to repeatedly warn him to listen to his instructions. Riley’s still wearing “VV” on his trunks, which stands for “Varsity Villain,” which was his NXT gimmick. I guess his new trunks were in the wash. Alex with a pair of clotheslines then an AA Spinebuster. Floating DDT from A-Ry for two. Stanford calls him a “Pu Pu Platter of talent.” I can’t make this stuff up. Drew with the sky-high spinebuster for two. Scott says that he is listed on a Chinese restaurant as “Sum Dumb Guy.” Alex tries a backslide, but Drew rolls through and transitions to the Future Shock DDT. Alex powers out and turns it into a Samoan Drop. Slick sequence. This somehow gets the win.

WINNER: Alex Riley in 10:00. Who wins with a Samoan Drop? Outside of that, this was a good match. Drew has improved so much since his debut, culminating with his outstanding Elimination Chamber role earlier this year, and Alex Riley is becoming a reliable wrestler. Both have a long future ahead of them, they both have mic skills and ring skills. Effective match to get them some time.

3 - EZEKIEL JACKSON vs. HEATH SLATER

Jackson makes fun of Slater, then shushes him like he did to Jindal Mahal. Slater tries to attack him, but Jackson knocks him silly. Zeke with unimaginative power offense and the announcers try to give him a personality. Torture Rack, but Slater slips out. Another false commercial break, and Jackson is bulldozing Slater still. Slater finally gets some offense in and shows a lot of fire. Zeke throws him into the corner, but Slater catches him in the eye and hits a tornado DDT for two. Slater tries a rear chinlock. Jackson fights out but Slater connects with a low dropkick for two and another chinlock. Slater keeps him down after Jackson fights out, and goes for a third chinlock. Zeke stands up and backs into the turnbuckle to knock Slater off, then gets a big backbreaker. Zeke with the corner clothesline, then the torture rack for the tap out.

WINNER: Ezekiel Jackson in 5:00. How is Heath Slater a heel, when he’s almost always the smaller man in the ring, and he gets beat up for most of his matches? He’s more like the Little Engine that Couldn’t.

TNA Impact Wrestling Results: 10-13-11

1 -- A.J. STYLES & ROB VAN DAM vs. DANIELS & JERRY LYNN

RVD ran to the ring shortly after the bell sounded to help even out the heels's unfair advantage. The heels eventually cheated to re-take the advantage and begin working on Van Dam. Styles took a hot tag at 3:30 and delivered trademark offense, but Daniels countered the trademark reverse DDT and tagged in Lynn. Styles simply delivered a trademark dropkick to Lynn before the action broke down. The action then moved to the floor, so Styles splashed everyone with a flip dive on the outside. Back in the ring, Styles dropped Daniels with a springboard forearm smash. Lynn then took a Pele kick. He wanted the Clash on Lynn and Daniels bailed from the ring as Styles delivered. Styles then made the cover as he stared down Daniels to set up their match on Sunday.

WINNERS: Styles & RVD at 5:49. Strong build-up to Styles-Daniels; not so much for Lynn-RVD, which is supposed to be a grudge feud after Lynn screwed Van Dam out of the Bound for Glory Series, but RVD's character was booked like it was another day at the office despite having an opportunity to really get his hands on Lynn before the PPV. (*3/4)

2 -- SAMOA JOE vs. MATT MORGAN

Morgan dropped Joe face-first into the turnbuckle before delivering his trademark rapid-fire elbows in the corner. Morgan tried to follow with charging offense, but Joe delivered a drop toehold into the turnbuckle. Joe then went to work on Morgan as a giant ticket graphic for TNA's upcoming live events blocked the action. Morgan showed agility leap-frogging Joe from the top turnbuckle and rolling up Joe from behind for a quick three count.

WINNER: Morgan at 2:07.

Post-match: Joe clipped Morgan from behind, targeting the knee. Joe slapped on a submission hold and Morgan tapped as Joe tried to injure his opponent on Sunday. Crimson, in street clothes and limping from last week, made the save with chair in-hand. On the stage, Joe took the mic and said he figured this out: it's an old-fashioned game of King of the Jungle. Joe said he sees two beta males who are afraid to face each other, so they're getting together to go after the Alpha ***-kicker. Joe booked the triple threat match for the PPV and told them they can either be the Alpha or be friends. Nice psychology from Joe setting up the three-way.

3 -- X Division champion AUSTIN ARIES & KID KASH vs. JESSE SORENSEN & BRIAN KENDRICK

Once the action actually entered the ring, Sorensen was quickly isolated by the heels. Sorensen eventually tagged in Kendrick and the action broke down. In the confusion, Aries tried a belt shot, but Kendrick ducked and nailed Sliced Bread #2. Kendrick with the pin for the win. "Kendrick just pinned the champion," Tenay declared before Kendrick picked up the title belt and danced around with it. Kendrick then dropped the belt on Aries's chest.

WINNERS: Kendrick & Sorensen at 4:28. A rushed, basic match to set up Kendrick-Aries at the PPV.

4 -- MR. ANDERSON vs. SCOTT STEINER -- Bully Ray ringside enforcer

The bell sounded with two men squaring off inside the ring. Refreshing. Anderson then distracted himself with Ray ringside, allowing Steiner to attack Anderson and begin working him over. Steiner mixed in some push-ups and cut off Anderson as he tried to nip at his heels. Steiner then ripped off some chops and Steiner paused to tell the crowd to shut up as they whoo'ed. Amazing timing. "Three days!" Ray shouted toward Anderson from ringside. Steiner went back to work on Anderson, who came back with a neckbreaker for a two count. Anderson then slipped to the outside and punched Ray in the face.

Back in the ring, Steiner low-blowed Anderson right in front of the ref, who just let it go. Has to be at least one instance of referee incompetence per match in TNA. Suddenly, Abyss came to ringside and wrapped a chain around his fist. He measured Anderson for a blow, but Anderson ducked and Steiner took the chain shot. Anderson discarded Abyss, then pinned Steiner for the win.

WINNER: Anderson at 4:03. Was this a double-secret No DQ match?

Post-match: Anderson smiled toward Ray as he bailed from ringside. Back in the ring, Ray screamed at Abyss before Gunner and Jeff Jarrett hit the ring. Jarrett shoved Abyss and asked him what's wrong with him. Jarrett talked trash and Ray told him to stop screwing up. Abyss took his bullying from Bully Ray in-stride before having enough and grabbing Ray around the throat. Immortal beat down Abyss, though, before Abyss could inflict any damage. They dismantled Abyss before Ray brought a table into the ring. Anderson stormed the ring to make the save, but Immortal beat him down and Ray put Anderson through the table. "Three days!" Ray shouted toward Anderson as the cameras picked up on the carnage in the ring with Anderson and Abyss KO'ed in the ring.

5 -- ROBERT ROODE vs. JEFF JARRETT (w/Karen Jarrett) & GUNNER -- handicap match

In the ring, Roode took apart Gunner before Jarrett tripped Roode from behind on the floor. The distraction allowed the heels to deliver a two-on-one beating. Apparently no tags are required here. The most heat was on Karen ringside as Gunner and Jarrett wore down Roode in the ring. Jarrett then mocked the Beer...Money chant, which led to Roode popping up from behind. Roode, infuriated, shot a double bird, before delivering big clotheslines. Roode then clotheslined Gunner over the top rope to the floor. Jarrett tried The Stroke, but Roode blocked and nailed a Double R spinebuster. Roode followed with a Crossface right in front of Karen. Gunner broke it up, though, so Roode slapped the Crossface on Gunner. Gunner tapped after a few moments, giving Roode another win.

Post-match: Roode smashed Jarrett with right hands after Jarrett tried to attack Roode. Ray then stormed the ring to low-blow Roode. Steiner followed with an attack on Roode. James Storm then hit the ring to make the save for Roode. However, the numbers advantage gave Immortal control again. Angle then slowly made his way to the ring as the heels held up Roode for Angle to deliver a KO blow.

However, Jeff Hardy's music hit and he stormed the ring to clean house. Hardy stomped and kicked the crap out of Ray before dropping Double J with the Twist of Fate. Hardy stood tall in the ring as Beer Money recovered and Immortal retreated on the floor. Once the dust settled, Storm took exception to Hardy's involvement. Roode was more understanding, though. Storm cut off a handshake, but Roode accepted. Hardy then tried to leave the ring, but Storm cut him off. Storm frowned at Hardy, but then joined Roode in holding up Hardy's hand. They hugged it out before Hardy posed in the ring, with the spotlight on him. Roode got a brief camera shot before TNA cut backstage.

WINNER: Roode at 3:58. So, is it Hardy vs. Angle at the PPV? Not in favor of adding this many players to the mix after the solid work in the opening segment to hype Angle vs. Roode and getting over Roode's toughness in this match. This is a flashback to TNA's past when they would add one (or ten) too many ingredients to the mix and ruin the stew.
